Part 3 The Traveler Chapter 185 The Prayer
Gone?
All darkness?
Derek’s first reaction to the sudden change was not to panic, but to clasp his hands together in front of his mouth.
A rather bright light swirled out from within him, dispelling the deep darkness around him and illuminating every corner of the basement.
In the environment Derek lived in, darkness was the most terrifying existence, and once they left Silver City, they had to maintain a state of having light shining at all times, and even if they lost it for a short time, the interval could not be more than five seconds.
When Derek first joined the Quest Team, he was inexperienced and almost made a mistake that cost him his life, but luckily there was the “Chief” standing not far away.
The light rippled slowly and continuously, Derek raised his right hand to grip the “Hurricane Axe”, and cautiously looked around.
He found that in addition to Heinem and Joshua, the two teammates who should have followed him into the basement disappeared, and the large black puddles of black marks on the stone slabs and walls had at some point become blood-red, wet as if they had just been splashed on.
This made Derek, who had familiarized himself with exploration textbooks and calmed down, couldn’t help but think of the possibility that it wasn’t Joshua and Heinom who had gone wrong, but himself!
”I just approached that altar and silently recited the three names …… Normally, even angels must have the exact honorific names in full format in order to receive “prayers” from others as a result of chanting or transcribing them and It is said that there is also a limit to the range of …… I wonder if this is the case for the angelic kings as well. ……
”Uh, one of these three names is the key to unlocking the hidden power of the altar, and I’m causing the problem by chanting silently in the language of the giants who can pry nature apart? No, that’s not right, it has to be pronounced out loud for it to work, even if it’s the real names of the Angelic Kings, which haven’t been a problem before …… “Puzzled and a little apprehensive, Derek turned his body back to the altar and returned to the stone table.
He was shocked to see that the writing and symbols on the stone table were much clearer and more complete than before, as if the master of ceremonies had only just finished painting and engraving them.
There were three kinds of writing, one in the language of the giants, one in the language of the dragons, and one that Derek didn’t recognize, but he suspected that it was the ancient Hermetic language that Mr. Hanged Man and Ms. Justice had spoken, since he had a rudimentary grasp of some of the words from his exchanges with the Tarot Club during this time. had a rudimentary grasp of some of the words, which were quite close to the kind of writing on the stone table.
The Giant and Gargoyle languages expressed very much the same thing; they both repeated the three names and their corresponding titles:
”Angel of Destiny”, Urolius;
”Red Angel”, Medici;
”Dark Angel”, Saslir.
Following the titles and names was a phrase Derek knew well:
”Redemption Rose”!
Saslir was really a king of angels called “Dark Angel”, and was the founder of “Redeeming Rose” along with “Destiny Angel” and “Red Angel”? “Redeeming Rose”? I don’t know what Mr. “Fool” knows about k. …… k must know it well. …… The ancient Hermetic language is supposed to mean the same thing… …In the afternoon of the town, which had been converted to the “Creator of all things”, there were residents who secretly worshipped the three angelic kings beside the Lord. …… Thinking of this, Derek suddenly got a chill down his spine, and felt as if he had touched the edge of the truth of the Creator’s abandonment of this land. abandoned this land to the edge of truth.
He looked up again, only to see that the blood and red on the wall and floor remained the same, and that there was still no sign of Hayim or Joshua.
Once again, the chanting didn’t work, or maybe it didn’t work at all……. Derek took a breath, and with his Hurricane Axe in hand, he cautiously made his way to the entrance of the basement, hoping to find the source of the problem, and to confirm which side of the room was in trouble.
One step, two steps, three steps, he was like a giant candle, moving back to the upper hall.
The shadows were thick and gray and claustrophobic here, the rotting chairs and remnants of the stone table resting noiselessly, no different than before.
Derek still hadn’t found Joshua or Heim, so he had to walk toward the window with his spirits high, to see if he could meet any other members of the questing squad.
Snap, snap …… slight footsteps, he approached the large hole that should have existed in the window frame, leaned forward and looked out.
Countless gray buildings spread out compactly, either high or low, stepping upwards.
Lightning flashed with low frequency in mid-air, and bit after bit of candlelight reflected at many of the windows, dimly wavering and long-lasting.
This …… Derek couldn’t help but swallow his saliva, and had the feeling that the town had never suffered a great change in the afternoon, and the inhabitants of this place were still living peacefully.
……
Heinem, who carried an animal skin lantern, passed through the basement entrance without needing to bend down, and said amusedly to Joshua next to him:
”This house definitely belongs to humans, but their family must have ‘giant’ bloodline, their height should be about the same as mine, tsk, the last ruined city we went to, we even had to bow our heads to enter the gate!”
”Giant” bloodline doesn’t mean necessarily having the bloodline of a giant, but represents the physical characteristics that were created and passed on to the offspring from taking the magic potion of this pathway, and being tall is one of the main manifestations.
Joshua looked up at Heim and chortled:
”That’s you, I don’t need it.”
”But you should be promoted before long, and by then, you won’t be much shorter than me.” Heinem chuckled and watched Derek, who was close to the altar, out of the corner of his eye to prevent accidents.
Joshua thought for a moment and said:
”I’m actually wondering, the Chief is a Sequence 4 ‘Demon Hunter’, he should be three or four meters tall like a normal giant, so why does he look normal, and just half a head taller than me?”
Heinem subconsciously looked around and said:
”It is said that the Chief has a giant form.”
”Giant form? After turning into a giant, will all his clothes tear?” Joshua asked with a smile.
”Unless his shirt and pants are magical items.” Heinem and Joshua looked at each other and laughed.
They were about to share the joke with Derek, but upon turning their heads to look, they realized the teenager was gone!
Derek, who was supposed to be in front of the altar, was gone!
Heinem and Joshua’s expressions became grave for a moment, one raised his broad and large straight sword, and the other stretched out his crimson gloved left palm.
They carefully leaned in close to the altar and scrutinized it without finding any suspicious traces.
Joshua was about to try and identify the remaining writing on the stone table when Heinom tapped him on the shoulder and said:
”Don’t look, I recalled that Derek was reading the writing on it before he disappeared.
”Let’s go get the ‘Chief’ over here.”
”Uh-huh.” Joshua nodded.
He didn’t panic and rush off, and after looking around the room again, he rubbed his thumb and middle finger together and lit the remaining candle on the altar.
This would protect Derek from falling into true darkness!
–Silver City’s exploration team had a similar encounter in those ruins of the city-state, where a member of the team appeared to have suddenly disappeared, but was actually just hidden by some force and remained in place, but his nearby teammates, desperate for help, scrambled out of the area with their lanterns, and so the poor fellow was engulfed in true darkness and never again The poor fellow was swallowed up in the real darkness, never to be found again, and the exact “cause” of his death would not have been known had it not been for the fact that another member of the team had later been caught in the same situation, and had been fortunate enough to be rescued on the spot.
As the candles were lit and the dim light of the fire spread around the area, Heinem and Joshua left and went into the alley, releasing the psychic signals that each of them carried.
They didn’t have to wait long before Colin Iliad jumped off the top of another house and landed firmly on the ground.
”What happened?” The Demon Hunter asked in a deep voice.
The silver straight sword in his hand had been coated with a light gray grease.
Heinem immediately gave a brief statement of what had just happened, ending with:
”We failed to discover the reason for Derek’s disappearance.”
”Derek ……” Colin nodded his head thoughtfully, crossed over the two men, and walked into the corresponding house first.
……
Outside, the candlelight was dim and warm, but Derek felt as if he had fallen into a so-called ice cave, and the coldness in his heart could not be stopped.
He tightened his grip on the right hand of the “Hurricane Axe”, withdrew his gaze from the town, turned around and walked into the basement, and stood in front of the altar again.
He was almost certain that it was he who had gone wrong!
But he had no urge to explore the strange afternoon town, and didn’t even dare to open the door.
Derek wasn’t too nervous or visibly panicked, because he didn’t think what he was experiencing was a serious problem.
As long as it is not a direct outbreak of danger, it is not considered serious …… Derek took a silent breath, buried his head slightly, and whispered reverently:
”Fools who do not belong to this age;
”The mysterious lord above the gray mist;
”The yellow and black king who reigns over good fortune. ……”
Crane, who was admiring the view from the window of the ruins of the Divine War, had no choice but to enter the lavatory again, set up his distractions, and take four steps against the grain to the Gray Mist above.
He sat down in a high-backed chair at the top of a long bronze table, stretched out his right hand, spread out his spirituality, and touched the crimson star that symbolized the small “sun”.
Suddenly, the sound of the prayer became very clear, and the corresponding image appeared before Kraven’s eyes.
He first saw the small sun, which was still a bit blurry, and then realized that he was in a somewhat different environment!
The “sun” was surrounded by an indescribable darkness, and in the darkness, there were eyes of different shapes gazing at him silently.
These eyes were densely packed, hidden, dark and introspective, like uninvited onlookers, and the little “sun” was unaware of them.
Is the town so dangerous in the afternoon? Klein knew very well what his classmate “Sun” had to do recently.
He thought about it, and intuitively thought that the darkness was very strange and not real enough, so he gave up the option of responding to the little “sun” with the “scepter of Neptune”, and instead pulled the other party into the gray fog.
Kraven’s spirituality was on display, but the crimson star seemed to be stuck in a swamp, making the act of pulling it quite difficult.
Which King of Angels had this pissed off again? Klein’s thoughts turned, causing the gray mist below and this mysterious space to ripple and pass through.
After being promoted to Sequence 5, without relying on the “Black Emperor” card or the corresponding rituals, he could slightly pry the power above the gray fog!
Without a sound, Klein easily completed the pull, and the figure of “Sun” Derek appeared on the high-backed chair that belonged to him.
At the same time, Klein saw the strange darkness that flowed around the body of the little “Sun” break up.
……
”The Demon Hunters entered the basement on high alert, followed closely by Heinem and Joshua.
They saw the figure of Derek Berg sketched out like a picture in front of the dim candlelight.
