Chapter 629: A Grudge Finally Avenged
Qin Wanmu’s head was covered with a black cloth bag, leaving him clueless about his location. He shouted all the way, “Who are you? Why are you kidnapping me? If it’s money you want, we can negotiate. I have quite a bit saved.”
His captors remained silent, one of them gripping his arm like a vice, causing intense pain.
The sound of a door opening echoed. Qin Wanmu was dragged into a room and roughly kicked behind his knees, making him stumble and almost shattering his kneecaps as he knelt.
“Old friend, is it comfortable staying here?” a voice behind him said.
Qin Wanmu was utterly confused. Were they talking to him?
“Mmm! Mmm!”
Hearing that sound, Qin Wanmu broke into a cold sweat. The Silent One was here!
“I’ve prepared a gift for you. Hope you like it. Do you know how much I’ve wanted to kill him? But I know you’d rather do it yourself!”
The man removed the hood from Qin Wanmu’s head. Seeing the Silent One’s hideous face, Qin Wanmu trembled, kneeling and repeatedly bowing his head. “I was wrong! I was wrong! Please, don’t kill me! I’ll do anything if you spare me!”
Zhou Xiao and Xu Fa stepped back to the far end of the basement, watching quietly.
The Silent One immediately recognized Qin Wanmu’s voice. He stood up, tears welling in his eyes. Qin Wanmu looked up at him, as if gazing at a majestic judge. He was so terrified that he couldn’t even cry. He wet himself in fear.
“Bet a hundred bucks. Do you think he’ll strangle him or smash him?” Zhou Xiao leaned against the wall, speaking nonchalantly.
“I bet on smashing him. That’s more satisfying!” Xu Fa said with envy. “I wish I had an irreconcilable enemy. It would feel great to kill them personally!”
The Silent One, overwhelmed with emotion, began to tear off his clothes, buttons flying off from his powerful grip, revealing a muscular but scarred body. He pointed at a scar on his liver, whimpering.
“I’m not human! I’m not human! I’m sorry!” Qin Wanmu said, slapping his own face.
The Silent One turned around, pointing to a scar on his lower back, crying. Only someone who had lost a kidney would understand the constant pain.
Qin Wanmu also began to cry. “I’m sorry!”
The Silent One continued pointing out scars, and with each one, Qin Wanmu apologized again.
Then the Silent One knelt down to make eye contact with Qin Wanmu. He placed his hands on Qin Wanmu’s shoulders, making him shiver uncontrollably.
Facing his long-sought enemy brought mixed emotions—burning anger, the satisfaction of a fulfilled wish, an empty void from ending his quest, and a longing for understanding.
The Silent One embraced Qin Wanmu, who was startled, thinking it was a gesture of reconciliation. But he soon realized the grip was tightening like an iron vice. He opened his mouth, unable to breathe. His ribs contracted under the deadly hug, and as his body reached its limit, something inside him snapped. Qin Wanmu’s head tilted back, blood gushing from his mouth, eyes turning blood-red.
When Qin Wanmu finally turned into a lifeless heap, the Silent One let go, covered in blood, tears streaming down his face.
Zhou Xiao raised his eyebrows, and Xu Fa was stunned. “Impressive!”
The Silent One grabbed his clothes and headed for the door. Xu Fa blocked his path, “Hey, you can’t leave now. The police are looking for you. If you’re caught, you might expose our location!”
The Silent One angrily pushed Xu Fa aside, making him look like a child.
Zhou Xiao called out, “Old friend, stay with us. You’ll have a better life. You have the strength; we have the brains. I’ll make you the best criminal!”
The Silent One roared in anger. Zhou Xiao, guessing his meaning, began to lose patience. “What? Going back to that blind old woman? She’s not even your real mother. Besides, the police are surely watching. You’ll just get caught!”
“Mm! Mm!” The Silent One replied, showing his disdain for them.
“I rarely invite someone so sincerely. Don’t be ungrateful!” Zhou Xiao pounded his chest. “Everyone here has killed more than you. You’re just a rookie!”
“Don’t call me a rookie!” Zhou Xiao snapped. Then, turning to the Silent One, he said, “I’ll go kill that blind old woman right now and put an end to your nonsense!”
Zhou Xiao started to leave but was suddenly yanked back by an immense force. He was thrown against the wall, sliding down like a fallen painting, blood rushing in his chest.
Such strength! Zhou Xiao lamented for this guy, born with a criminal’s potential but unable to use it properly.
He drew a knife, his face contorting with rage. “Bastard! No one treats me like this!”
“What are you doing?” Xu Fa asked in fear.
“Kill him!”
Zhou Xiao lunged, slashing with his knife. The Silent One slapped him away, sending him flying. Zhou Xiao hit the ground, clutching his possibly broken ribs, seething with anger.
The Silent One turned to stomp on Xu Fa, who screamed and rolled away.
Zhou Xiao attacked from behind, stabbing wildly at his chest. The Silent One howled in pain, grabbing Zhou Xiao like a hat and smashing him to the ground.
He realized these two were not good people. As he prepared to crush Zhou Xiao, Xu Fa suddenly injected a syringe into his leg. The poison quickly reached his heart. Clutching his chest, he knelt down and fell asleep forever.
Zhou Xiao wiped the blood from his mouth, staring at the giant’s body. He stabbed it a few more times out of rage, cursing all the while.
“That’s enough, he’s dead!” Xu Fa urged. “I told you, recruiting him was a bad idea. He was too simple-minded.”
“What happened?” Ling Shuang entered the basement.
Xu Fa shrugged helplessly. “The interview didn’t go well!”
“Who asked you to handle it?” Ling Shuang scolded. “Leave such matters to me next time.”
“Using your psychology tricks?” Zhou Xiao’s blood-covered face twisted as he pointed his knife at her. “I don’t need underhanded methods. If my charisma can’t win them over, they don’t deserve to join us!”
“What charisma? You think you’re the boss?” Ling Shuang sneered.
“Stupid woman, of course I’m the boss!” Zhou Xiao roared, met with Ling Shuang’s cold gaze. Xu Fa quietly gestured for peace, whispering, “Can we not fight? What about… the body?”
“Let the police deal with it! Give them something to do.” Zhou Xiao pointed at Ling Shuang, commanding, “You handle it!”
Holding his injured ribs, he left. Ling Shuang looked at the giant corpse, feeling particularly vexed by Zhou Xiao’s arrogance. Why did women have no status in a crime gang?
After a moment, a cold smile appeared on her lips. She had a dark idea. “This corpse is big enough to hide something inside. Can you get explosives?”
“Hey…” Xu Fa said fearfully. “Are you crazy? We can’t provoke the police like this. We’re already in a dangerous situation.”
“Blowing up a couple of cops will just pin it on Zhou Xiao!” Ling Shuang laughed delightedly.
