Chapter 127: Entering the Workforce
Before Yamaguchi Katsuhei left the house, he looked into the tattered mirror on the broken counter. He could not go to see Masayoshi Kishimoto unkempt.
The old suit he was wearing and the pair of old shoes on his feet were all second-hand cheap goods bought from a street stall in Adachi district.
Yamaguchi Katsuhei finished his primping, walked out of his house, and traveled from the Adachi district valley to Ueno, Taito district. He felt out the business card inside the inner pocket of his suit jacket and held it in his right hand.
This business card was the same one that Masayoshi Kishimoto had given himself. He asked a few people along the way, and only then did he find the office of Hard Gold Capital Corporation.
Yamaguchi Katsuhei didn’t break in, took the initiative to walk towards the front desk, put the business card in his hand directly in front of the other person’s eyes, and politely said, “Hello, I’m here to see your president, Kishimoto Masayoshi.”
The receptionist with a professional smile politely said, “Hello, may I ask sir do you have an appointment with our president?”
“No. However, your president said it was for me to come and join the team.” Yamaguchi Katsuhei had one thing to say.
The receptionist looked at this elderly man in front of her and couldn’t believe that her company would still recruit someone of such a handful of years old to come in and work, or that the president himself had specially recruited him.
The rest of the people in his own company were all within thirty years of age, except for Kobayashi Kiyoshi who was in his early thirties. The average age of the company’s personnel was also in their twenties.
Yamaguchi Katsuhei saw the strange look in her eyes and did not get angry, saying with great inner peace, “This year, I just turned forty-seven not long ago.
Because I have been doing construction work outdoors for a long time in the past, my face looks old, and I look ten years older than my actual age, like a person who is about to turn sixty.”
“Uncle, no. Grandpa, are you here to apply for our company’s security guard, or cleaner? We don’t have anyone who is going to recruit for either of these two positions.” With what little social experience she had, the receptionist said, judging people by their appearance.
Yamaguchi Katsuhira realized that she hadn’t listened to a single word of what he had said earlier. He had clearly come to join Hard Gold Capital Corporation, and now, it had become a job search with her.
“Is this okay? You personally give your president a call, and you can say that Yamaguchi Katsuhei has come to report for employment.” Yamaguchi Katsuhei said, still maintaining a calm demeanor.
Seeing that the other party had taken out the president’s business card, the receptionist didn’t use the excuse that the president was busy and not waiting to shirk. She picked up the landline microphone in front of her and made a call.
When Masayoshi Kishimoto, who was sitting in his office, heard the phone ring, he reflexively reached out and picked up the microphone attached next to his ear and answered it.
“President, there’s a man named Yamaguchi Katsuhei outside ……,” the receptionist said truthfully.
Before Masayoshi Kishimoto could wait for her to finish, he interrupted, “Hurry up and invite the other party in.”
When the receptionist heard the president say that, after she put down the phone, the smile on her face not only became bright, but her attitude also changed from somewhat indifferent to positive and enthusiastic. She took the initiative to bow forty-five degrees toward Yamaguchi Katsuhei, and made a motion with both hands to invite him in.
Yamaguchi Katsuhei said “thank you”, turned sideways and walked into the door of Hard Gold Capital Corporation.
As soon as he entered, Masayoshi Kishimoto was already standing in front of the president’s office, beckoning, “Here.”
Yamaguchi Katsuhei’s footsteps accelerated and he took three steps toward the other side. He knew in his heart that this was the look of a formal company.
“Ota, make a cup of tea.” Masayoshi Kishimoto rushed at Ota Feitsugu outside and directly ordered.
The moment Ota Fei Tori heard this was when she immediately got up and did as she was told. She understood that if it wasn’t an important visitor, the president wouldn’t let himself make tea personally.
Masayoshi Kishimoto signaled for Katsuhei Yamaguchi to sit down and talk, while returning to sit on top of his own chair and smiled, “I’m not a scamming purse company here, am I!”
Yamaguchi Katsuhei casually said, “It’s just that the front door is a little harder to enter.”
“The king of hell is good to see, but the little devil is difficult to deal with. You’ll just be a grown-up and not remember the little man.” Justice Kishimoto understood the other layer of meaning in his words and said.
“I’m not accusing the receptionist. That was originally her job description and nature. On the contrary, I think she is still quite responsible and dutiful.” Yamaguchi Katsuhei explained as he resolved the misunderstanding.
“Now, do you still live in the same place where I last saw you?” Masayoshi Kishimoto leaned his back against the top of the chair, the fingers of his ten fingers resting opposite each other on his chest as he said.
“If I don’t live there, where else can I live?” Yamaguchi Katsuhira said bluntly.
Masayoshi Kishimoto just thought for a moment, and leaning forward, he picked up the landline phone above his desk and personally dialed the finance and said, “You take one million yen in cash and come into my office.”
After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone. At this time, Ota Feituo used a tray to bring the freshly brewed tea into the president’s office with both hands and placed it in front of the somewhat unimpressive old man in front of him.
“Ota, wait a moment. He is our new colleague. You’ll be checking him in later for the induction procedure.” Masayoshi Kishimoto said bluntly.
Ota Feiqiao froze for a moment. She herself took another good look at the older man in front of her. She was completely confused as to why the president would recruit the other party to join the company.
“I only celebrated my forty-seventh birthday this year. In my early years, I spent a long time on top of a construction site in the elements, so my face has to look much more mature than my peers.” Yamaguchi Katsuhei explained again for his age.
“Age is not the problem. It’s your ability I’m using.” Justice Kishimoto relieved him.
The treasurer also used a tray to take a stack of one hundred 10,000 yen bills out of the safe, and then personally carried it with both hands to the president’s face and set it down.
Masayoshi Kishimoto pushed the tray in front of Katsuhei Yamaguchi, who was sitting across from him, and said, “You take it first. This is not money given to you for nothing.
If it’s not enough, just say a number. In the future, I am going to make a deduction within your monthly paycheck until I pay back the paycheck advanced to you.”
Yamaguchi Katsuhei didn’t push back, and took the initiative to stand up and bow ninety degrees towards him while the word “thank you” came out from the bottom of his heart. Money is not the reason that moved him, but the other party can put himself in the shoes of his own current shyness.
Kishimoto justice stood up, around the desk, led Yamaguchi Katsuhei to his office outside. He clapped his hands twice and said in a serious manner, “Let me introduce to you all, this is our new colleague, Yamaguchi Katsuhei.
He will be in charge of preparing for the establishment of Hard Gold Construction in the future, and will be fully responsible for our real estate construction work in the three districts of Gangnam in Seoul, South Korea, and will take on the position of president.”
As soon as his words fell, one after another, the crowd took the initiative to stand up and applauded at Katsudaira Yamaguchi, expressing a kind of welcome.
