Volume 8 Chapter 28 Hunting
“Ah? Why?” I couldn’t react.
He didn’t answer me, thought for a moment, and suddenly said to me, “Follow me!” and immediately ran out.
I looked at the sun and it had gone down a little bit. I thought to myself that he was going to die from playing, so I immediately followed him. He ran to the place where the original tent was, found a waterproof bag from one of the tents, and ran over again. He took a few toothbrush cups that were placed on the stone and picked up a miner’s lamp directly, and ran into the forest.
I stumbled behind him, and saw him run a few times to the swamp at the edge of the jungle, immediately jump in, use the cup to dig the mud at the bottom of the swamp, pour it into the water bag, and wipe it on himself. I was stunned, and he waved at me, and I nodded and immediately jumped in too. A few seconds later, the two of us were covered in mud and looked exactly like Wenjin.
I had originally planned to apply the mud when the fog lifted, because it was really uncomfortable to be covered in mud. I asked him why, and he said, “To catch Wenjin.”
“Catch Wenjin?”
“She’s looking for food. Her food is running out, so she’ll definitely come back tonight. We need to set an ambush.”
“At night? An ambush?” I immediately shook my head: “I’m not doing it. If I go down, I’ll never be able to get up again.”
Muyoubing looked at me and suddenly said, “Why did you come here?”
I froze for a moment, and he looked at me coldly, climbed into the water, and left without looking back.
I froze in the water, feeling extremely uncomfortable in my heart. I thought to myself, “Why are you glaring at me? I came here because you all kept secrets from me. Why did I come here? I’m fucking—
I thought to myself, and I didn’t feel comfortable going on. I knew what he meant, and it was already too late to be afraid of death! I cursed and got up.
When I told the fat guy about it, he was a bit hesitant. The situation yesterday was too terrifying. He thought it might be a bit risky, but after some careful consideration, he agreed.
The mood of the matter changed. Suddenly, we went from trying to survive at night to trying to die at night. But Fatso said no. Wenjin is not stupid. She should have appeared when the fog had not yet risen, or just when it had risen. Even if we were not near the camp, she should have come as soon as it got dark. If it is true that she is looking for food, as the little brother speculated, then she may already be starving.
Muyoubing asked Fatso to boil another half pot of soup, making it look like the soup base that had not been finished. The fat man immediately got to work, making the stove burn even more fiercely. Soon, another pot of hot pot was cooked, and the aroma was overflowing. Mian Youping took the mud and went to the side of Pan Zi, smearing mud on him and covering him with mud. Then it was the fat man’s turn.
After everything was done, Mian Youping picked up the pot and told us to follow. I asked what Pan Zi would do. He said, “We’ll be back before the fog rises. Three people will have a better chance of catching it.
The three of us walked all the way to the original tent, and then Mian Youping put the pot of stew on the campfire where we had been the day before.
It was still early in the day, so the three of us found a hidden place to squat down. I just felt like laughing. This was a bit ridiculous. Holding a pot of soup to seduce Wenjin, who was not a cat.
We squatted there, watching the sun go down from the tree line. The darkness gathered around like ghosts, and we didn’t wait for anything. Even the soup was cold. The fat guy couldn’t help but want to ask him a question, but he waved his hand to stop him, and then pointed to his ear, asking us to pay attention to the sound.
We listened to the sounds around us, and the mud all over our bodies was smelly and slimy, making me feel terrible. Especially on my face and waist, the heat had dried the mud, and the skin in these places was pulled up, itchy to death, but I couldn’t scratch it, it would only itch more and dry faster.
I waited with my teeth clenched until it was dark and only a little light was left. I had already entered a trance-like state when suddenly the people around me moved. I immediately woke up, tensed up, shook my head, and then followed them and peeked out from behind the rocks. In the very dim light, I saw a person covered in mud carefully walking out of the forest. Looking at the figure, it was a woman.
“It’s really Wenjin!” My throat tightened, and I thought to myself, “It really works.” Before I had time to think about the ins and outs of this, Mian Youping’s hand was already on my shoulder. He pulled me back.
I looked at him, and he gestured to me and Fatso, meaning that as soon as he moved, the two of us would immediately flank him from both sides of the camp and block her.
At this point, we didn’t know what was going on with Mian Youping, so we nodded and waited patiently. The feeling of being in an ambush was quite exciting, and my heart was pounding. We waited until we heard the sound of the soup pot.
Fatso wanted to go out, but Mian Youping didn’t move, so we didn’t move either. After waiting for about ten minutes, Mian Youping closed his eyes and suddenly rolled over and dashed out from behind the rock. Almost at the same time, we heard a surprised cry, followed by the sound of turning and running.
Me and the fat guy immediately spread our legs and rushed out from the left and right sides, then circled around the camp and rushed past the tents. The three of us were in position at the same time and surrounded her in an instant.
Wenjin was obviously panicked, and she was at a loss for what to do, turning around between the three of us, her face full of fear.
Then the firelight came on, and I could clearly see Wen Jin’s face. I couldn’t see the real situation in the mud, but I was sure that she was extremely young, almost like an 18 or 19 year old girl. Even in this situation, I could tell that this woman was extremely pretty, far more than the photo.
This was almost a meeting that transcended time and space. Under normal circumstances, I would almost feel that she had walked out of that photo, but now I had no time to think about these things.
Wenjin was obviously frightened by us and a little overwhelmed. She looked around, trying to find a way to escape.
“Don’t be afraid, Auntie Chen…” I wanted to say something to comfort her, but when I tried to speak, I found it really difficult to get the words out.
Wenjin looked at me and suddenly rushed towards me. I opened my arms and tried to hold her in my arms to subdue her. Unexpectedly, she suddenly bent down, grabbed my arm, and twisted me over. I screamed in pain, and she pushed me onto the tent, almost collapsing it, and ran into the thick fog.
I got up and saw that Fatso and Mian Youping had already chased after her. I cursed myself for being useless and immediately followed them.
