Chapter 1 Five years
The sunshine in March is always warm and indifferent. I am in a city known for its leisurely pace. On such a sunny March afternoon, I also sat leisurely at a tea stall in a riverside park.
A cup of tea, a book that I’ve read so many times that it’s falling apart, and I’m alone. This leisurely solitude is actually quite nice.
It has been five years since my master left, and in these five years, we have occasionally received some clues, but unfortunately they are either too vague or we are unable to take the time to verify them. There are valuable clues, but the price of pursuing them is too high. It is obviously not the right time yet, and we need to make some preparations.
In these five years, I have also successfully established myself in society. With what I have learned, I can earn enough money to cover my expenses, and even have some left over.
It seems like five years is too long. During these five years, I have become more and more withdrawn and silent. Su Rou said that this is a sign of a lack of security. Maybe so, but I don’t care.
Every year, my fellow classmates and I would get together once. During the gathering, I would usually use the technique of the middle mausoleum to invite the masters, but I had never invited the master once. I myself could not say why.
Zhongmao’s art is just a will, as I told Chengzhen, and it doesn’t have a complete memory. At most, it’s just some fragments of memory that I can’t touch, unless one day my power is higher than the last generation, then maybe I can forcefully break some fragments of memory.
Whenever that happens, it’s always the most stressful time for us, but we don’t know what we’re so nervous about. After all, the Zhongmao technique can’t tell whether the person is still alive, but we’re still nervous.
After each spell, I always have an inexplicable feeling that my master and the others are still alive. This feeling comes every year, and I believe in my spiritual awareness. This feeling is the driving force that supports us, that they are still alive.
In the five years since, Xiao Chengqian has come to see me a few times. From his words, it seems that the infighting within their organization has become more and more intense. I don’t care about this. We just exchange clues. Only once did Xiao Chengqian beg me to use the Zhongmao technique to summon Wu Liyu. After thinking about it, I agreed.
Through that time, I knew that Wu Liyu was still alive.
I don’t know if it was because I followed my master to destroy the bugs and accumulated great virtue that my three, six, and nine calamities, that is, the calamities of the year I was 29, were not too difficult, but they were not very peaceful either. I took on a business and met a difficult spirit, but my luck was weak, and I was inexplicably unlucky for half a year. I could be hit by a flower plate while walking. I had no other choice but to smile bitterly and quietly cultivate my character and improve my aura.
Afterwards, I summed up my own situation. I thought that I had seen so many big scenes with my master, and that ordinary haunted houses and immortals were nothing to me, but in the end I underestimated the world and overestimated myself.
The sun was a bit lazy, and I was a bit lazy too. I stretched, put my legs on another stool, covered my face with a book, and closed my eyes for a nap at this tea stand. It was a good choice.
Unfortunately, it was quiet for less than ten minutes before the book on my face was ripped open. I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was a big face of Su Rou. He shouted, “Sanwaer,” and then spit on my face.
I took out a napkin and wiped my face, then said, “Su Rou, you are already a big boss, can you not be so flustered and pay attention to your image?”
Upon hearing this, Su Rou coughed, straightened his tie, and looked at me with an elegant expression, saying, “Did you find any of my employees nearby?”
I took out a cigarette and lit it, saying, “No.”
The last time he and I got drunk, he made a scene on the street and made a 10-year-old girl cry. After his employees saw it, he was always worried that his employees would pop up from somewhere.
After hearing that I had not, he finally let out a sigh of relief, quickly untied his tie, then picked up my teacup, drank it in one gulp, and then put one foot on the stool before saying, “What image is that? I’m just a kid who grew up in the countryside. What’s wrong? I’m just rich now.”
“Mmm-hmm,” I nodded in agreement. Just like my master said that year after he saw Su Rou, “This kid is destined for wealth.” Sure enough, he was destined for wealth. In Guangzhou, he borrowed money from Qin Huai and used his keen vision to turn it over and over. He made a fortune in his first year, and then the money just kept coming, and he couldn’t stop it.
Unfortunately, my approval does not mean everyone’s approval. Su Rou’s impassioned speech directly earned him the disdainful gaze of a young girl who came to pour tea. She gave Su Rou a look, put the kettle down heavily, twisted her head, and didn’t even give Su Rou a chance to pour the water. She twisted her butt and left.
Su Rou slapped the table and shouted, “Little sister, do you think I’m a liar? Wait a minute, let’s go to Yinxing for dinner. I’ll pay the bill!”
Damn you, Su Rou, I laughed and said, “This little sister is the boss’s daughter. She occasionally comes to help out, so of course she has a bit of a temper. Do you really want to invite her to eat at Yinxing? Then I’ll give Liu Chunyan a call, okay?”
As soon as he mentioned Liu Chunyan, Su Rou became angry and quickly said, “Come on, that she-devil, don’t even mention her. She ruined my leisurely mood! Sanwa, if you dare to betray me, I… I’ll…”
“Well, I know… no more friends!” I laughed and said casually to Su Rou. These jokes are fine.
Su Rou is just a flirt, but in fact he treasures Liu Chunyan very much. Those who are destined to be together will eventually be together. After so many years from elementary school to now, they have finally come together. How could they not cherish it?
In retrospect, the phone call I made to Su Rou was really the right thing to do. I told him about Liu Chunyan’s recent situation, and the boy took it to heart. After making a name for himself in Guangzhou, he returned to the village and found Liu Chunyan…
The specific course of the relationship is a bit long to talk about, but the ending of the lovers finally becoming a couple is very happy.
After a while of nonsense, I put away the “Search for the Gods” that I had torn to pieces, and said to Su Rou, “Just say it. What do you want from me?”
“With our relationship, I can’t come to see you? I knew you were here slacking again.” Su Rou took out a cigarette from my pocket without any courtesy, lit it, and Liu Chunyan now forbade him from smoking too much. The kid took it from me, but there was no evidence.
“It’s not the weekend, and it’s not the evening, it’s the middle of the day, you wouldn’t be busy and come looking for me, there must be something going on,” I said with a smile.
“Can you let me keep a little mystery? Okay, I have a single business here. Do you want to take it?” Su Rou said to me very seriously.
“You can’t turn it down? I don’t really want to take on any business in the first half of this year.” I said very directly.
“I know you, it’s up to you. You’re just a business acquaintance. If you don’t want to take it, that’s fine.” Su Rou was also very direct.
“Who? Tell me.” I guessed that Su Rou might have some business dealings with that person, otherwise he would not bother with these trivial matters, let alone bother me.
I am a brother to Su Rou, so there is no need to say everything too clearly, and I will naturally help him.
“Speaking of which, you know, do you want to take on An Yu’s business?” Su Rou said to me.
“Him?” I frowned.
“Yes, it’s him. If you don’t want to take it, I’ll just pass it on. But, Sanwa, let me make it clear that this has nothing to do with my friendship with him or our business. I don’t really like that kid, but this time, he came crying to me, saying that someone was messing with him. It’s a matter of life and death, and I sympathize with the kid. He’s not very honest in some ways, but you know, he doesn’t say anything to his friends.” Su Rou explained to me.
I rubbed my brow and said to Su Rou, “Then call him now and arrange a place to meet. Tell him everything in detail. I’ll see if I should intervene.”
“I know. If it’s his own karma and he’s too deeply involved, you won’t intervene.” Su Rou picked up the phone and dialed.
