Chapter 14
“Goodbye.”
Actually, never again.
The end of the default closing, he is catching up, the subway is running, but she has no courage to jump off and wait for the next train.
Wen Ning’s hand on the iron ring do not know how long has passed, only to feel themselves strangled pain, go to the supermarket to buy special vegetables aunt looked at her, pointed to the empty chair beside her, asked the little girl how not to sit down.
But she is no longer a little girl.
Wen Ning politely thanked her, still grasping the iron ring with one hand, and continued to stand and face the electronic advertisements in the subway tunnel.
She found that she was not without a heart, and could only paralyze that heart of hers with the paroxysm of her high heels.
The long period of standing made Wenning’s footsteps unusually weak as she exited the station, and she took a deep breath, but she didn’t know what seemed to be tugging and pulling at her.
The cell phone almost fell to the ground, she even picked it up, the screen sent a news alert message.
It was impossible for the image on the hot page not to catch her attention.
The image was visual; she was hiding in Zhou Yinchu’s coat, half of her chin showing under her large framed sunglasses. The two were nose-to-nose.
But the caption is indeed irrelevant.
#Actress Ying Ying and her boyfriend have a secret hotel date. #
#Ying Ying Zhou Yinchu #
#YingYing: I’ll let you all know as soon as there’s good news #
#Yinchu Zhou, his price #
Realizing that her photo taken in the elevator room had been misinterpreted as actress Ying Ying, and that it was probably her own pair of sunglasses that had caused the trouble, Wen Ning reopened the page of the website where she had purchased them, and found that the pair of sunglasses, which had been a big hit and had sold extremely well, were in fact a knock-off of the brand that Ying Ying had endorsed.
Originally, she was just buying them casually, but she didn’t realize that “Ying Ying’s same model” was clearly written in the small print underneath.
Wen Ning subconsciously apologized to the actresses who had been affected by her.
However, soon after, several of the top group photos in the comment section were of Zhou Yinchu and the actress, some at the investment cooperation meeting he was organizing, and sometimes at her box office celebration banquet. So it was more like a logical reasoning that people could follow when eating their melon than nonsense.
Should she be grateful?
That she hadn’t been recognized by the sharp-eyed netizens and could continue to live her life as calm as water as always?
That Zhou Yinchu has never been surrounded by women, or else it would have been impossible for him to be dug up in pictures with actresses at other times?
Ying Ying’s response was even more evocative, she did not deny her identity in that photo, ambiguously stating:
“I will definitely share any good news with everyone first.”
Someone had replaced herself and accepted people’s judgment, Wen Ning didn’t need to get involved with Zhou Yinchu, and she found that she didn’t feel as relaxed as she had imagined.
In her inherent perception, a successful Forbes-topped young entrepreneur and a glittering actress were supposed to be a good match.
She’d never been part of the world they lived in.
Didn’t blame him.
Blame him again.
Why come to this boring game when he clearly had more than enough?
Couldn’t he get enough of being surrounded by big stars and had to find himself for such a classic bridge, just to humiliate her?
At least, on this early morning, she thought that the words he’d said with such conviction that he’d send her away, were true.
The image of running into him like he’d left everything behind to run to her was still fresh in her mind. Her heartbeat was very cheap, and the party was still muffled in her chest.
It was ridiculous how she’d gone along with him in this uninteresting charade, almost naively mistaking herself for the heroine.
The actual interval between the two subways was not that long.
Zhou Yinchu got on the next one that followed immediately after. However, as the subway started, he also realized something that he hadn’t had time to deal with yet.
The pictures of him and Wen Ning that had been secretly taken had been uploaded to the internet.
Of course, at first, his focus was on the subtle atmosphere of the photo taken between the two of them, him and Wen Ning, but soon, he realized that Wen Ning didn’t want to appear in front of the public in this way, and that she could sense her panic at this moment;therefore, when he saw someone calling Wen Ning by Ying Ying’s name, he didn’t choose to deal with it with the first public relations.
There were many ways to squash the heat.
Zhou Yinchu walked out of the subway expressionlessly, and instead of continuing to send Wen Ning back the way he did, he made a call to his assistant at the intersection.
“I’m going back to the company, get the two managers of the PR and Outreach Departments to come to the office.”
The one who arrived earlier than the two company managers was Ying Ying herself.
She removed her sunglasses and joked, “Who exactly were you with last night, was it with that one white moonlight of yours?”
“None of your business.”
Ying Ying: “Hey, this has brought me all on the hot search, directly affecting the number of male fans of this actress, okay?”
“Mr. Zhou, just say something.”
The big star sat on one of the extra rocking chairs in the office and swayed, “For people, this is an unmitigated disaster.”
But he was turned away by Zhou Yinchu, “Go, I don’t have to explain anything to you.”
His tone was heavy not mixed with half a bit of personal emotion, “As for the compensation you want, you can put an extra 300w in next month’s endorsement payment.”
“You want to get rid of me with three million dollars?”
Ying Ying got up, she found herself completely unable to see through the man in front of her.
Five years ago, she had a conflict with her agent and was snowed under by her original agency, she tried her best to find someone but hit a wall everywhere. Suddenly she remembered an old friend from her time in the U.S., who contacted the powerful legal team of Zhou Yinchu for her – it was the lawyers assigned by Zhou Yinchu who won the case for her and helped her set up her own personal studio.
Grateful, she always threw out almost the lowest market price for business contracts with him, while he said he gave her everything according to the market and industry standard, and she had no idea what he was doing to help her.
It was as if he was just doing a favor for an old friend of his.
But the young girl always involuntarily think more: he is obviously unscrupulous businessman, but does not seem to seize any special interests from her, he even participated in the investment and screening of several of her films.
Once after a drink, she came up to him and tried to test him, and he remained aloof in his refusal.
He said coldly, “I’m not interested in you.”
Ying Ying was thinking at the time that perhaps Zhou Yinchu was simply not interested in women.
She was completely sure of her appearance.
But then his friend showed up on the spot and pronounced the name that was like a death knell for him, and the bottom of his eyes were suddenly filled with red blood, insisting that no one be allowed to mention her.
It turned out that Zhou Yinchu would also be crazy about women to that extent. It wasn’t that he didn’t love women, but because he loved them too much.
Ying Ying knew that right now she pretty much had to leave, or else being whisked away wouldn’t look good.
But she still couldn’t suppress her deep curiosity, “Does she look like me?”
Otherwise, how could the media associate themselves with her in the first place through that woman, or else, why did the unsympathetic Zhou Yinchu treat herself with special favors before?
Perhaps, they were similar, and it was ridiculous that she, an actress, would wish that she had a similar face to a vegetarian.
“Ying Ying, you don’t have the qualifications to be compared to her.”
Zhou Yinchu was colder and more aloof than any time she had ever known.
His hands were propped up on the countertop, informing her verbatim, “I think there are some things that I don’t want you to have any misunderstandings about, the investment in your first film after your comeback was an arrangement by my subsidiary, not through my hands; and in the beginning, I stepped in to help you because your friend is an important partner of mine in Silicon Valley.”
“You don’t look anything like her,” Zhou Yinchu was less evasive about the question than she expected, and he responded almost without thinking, “I’m sorry for the media’s boring speculations, but in my case, she’s never been unique.”
“But whenever I ever had the slightest thought of looking for a double, I, Zhou Yinchu, deserve to die.”
Ying Ying still underestimated the man in front of her, who cursed himself more viciously than anyone else.
