Chapter 11
Because of the heavy rain, even though it was almost nine o’clock the sky was still gray. The chandelier hanging over the dining table was lit with warm white light, bright and cozy, reflecting even more warmly on Zhao Shuming’s body.
Jiang Yimiao looked at the side of his neck and subconsciously bit her lower lip.
Zhao Shuming had already eaten the egg yolk she had just discarded, he wasn’t wearing his glasses yet he was clear enough to see her complexion, seeing that she seemed to have been looking at him, he opened his mouth and asked, “What’s wrong Miao Miao?”
She licked her upper lip and shook her head, “Nothing ……”
Zhao Shuming clearly knew that her gaze had just been looking at him, at a certain part of his body, had she just remembered how she liked to bite him when she was little?
He couldn’t help but bring a smile to his face.
“Breakfast not to your liking?” He knew that the breakfast he made according to her tastes would never be unappetizing to her, but Zhao Shuming still gave her a step down.
“No, it’s quite delicious.” Saying this, she buried her head and took a large bite.
Zhao Shuming laughed warmly, “Don’t be in a hurry, eat slowly, you don’t have to go to work today nor are you in a hurry.”
She nodded her head like a chicken pecking at rice and smiled towards him.
After breakfast, the rain hadn’t stopped, but it was gradually decreasing.
The sky was not as dark as when she woke up, and the world outside the window finally shed a few rays of light.
Programmer’s inspiration comes and goes, Jiang Yimiao was still cleaning up the mess after breakfast with Zhao Shuming.
But her mind suddenly remembered something, she quickly washed her hands and Zhao Shuming explained and ran back to the room to open the computer.
Until she entered the last line of code on the screen, Jiang Yimiao stretched her head dizzily, she touched her stomach and was a little hungry.
She pushed the chair away and stood up and collapsed on the bed, hugging the quilt and rolling around, stretching all over her body, the soreness after stretching made her wail several times in the room.
She was done for the day, which meant she wouldn’t have to work on the computer in the afternoon and evening as long as no coworkers approached her.
Rolling over and accidentally crushing her doll, Jiang Yimiao pulled the doll out and kissed it.
Instead, her stomach growled, and Jiang Yimiao realized that she should be looking for her meal ticket.
Zhao Shuming wasn’t in the living room, and she looked away from the door to his room that he hadn’t closed and quietly walked over to the door.
Jiang Yimiao had only recently realized that Zhao Shuming wasn’t actually completely out of work during the week.
The guest bedroom he lived in was connected to the study, probably because Zhao Shuming had studied in elementary school for two years in Nancheng, and when he bought the suite it was convenient for him to study before connecting the study to the bedroom.
And he would often stay in the room, mostly sitting at his desk busy with his work.
She held her hands on the edge of the door and exposed half of her head.
Zhao Shuming but half a second to realize that she was standing in the doorway of the room, he raised his head, his glasses-wearing appearance again a little different from his usual feeling, “Miao Miao?”
“What’s wrong?”
Zhao Shuming’s bedroom was lit with incense, not that overly heavy wooden scent that stereotypical impressions of boys like, but a very light and fresh odor.
Jiang Yimiao inhaled, “I’m hungry, can we make lunch?”
“Yes, I’ll go cook right now.” He smiled gently, not at all annoyed by the sudden interruption of his work.
Rather than not being annoyed, it was more like he was in an extremely pleasant mood right now. This was because he knew that at least in the aspect of eating, Jiang Yimiao would never worry about bothering him.
After all, he had been the one to cook for her since she was a child, and even if it had been a long time since she had tried his handiwork, Jiang Yimiao would still enjoy his cooking.
She was already used to Zhao Shuming cooking for her, and it was commonplace for her.
So Zhao Shuming’s indulgence in her was still somewhat beneficial in some cases.
The scene when he raised his head and smiled at her was again somewhat déjà vu.
This sense of déjà vu again reminded Jiang Yimiao of the times when only the two of them were at home during the summer and winter vacations, when Jiang Yimiao would lie down on his table or on his bed and ask him, “Brother, I’m so hungry, I want to eat-” She wiggled her legs and put the She would shake her legs and stretch the word “meal” out.
Even if Zhao Shuming was working on the last question of the math problem, he would put the pen down without a hitch, touch her head, and obediently go to the kitchen to make lunch for her.
After Zhao Shuming came back to live here, Jiang Yimiao had yet to enter his room.
His room had a lot more of his objects, and there were a lot of books related to that specialty of his, so she glanced up and down with some curiosity.
Zhao Shuming stood up from his desk and walked over to her, “Feel free to look around if you want, want to come in and take a look?”
Jiang Yimiao touched the side of her face, “No no no, I’m just a little curious, haha ……”
“It’s fine, my room you can just come in, I’ll go cook first, make soup for lunch, don’t drink the juice.”
“Make soup? When did you buy to go grocery shopping?” Jiang Yimiao turned to follow him.
“I went shopping while you were working in your room, the meat is fresh today.” Zhao Shuming rolled up his sleeves as he spoke.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” Jiang Yimiao dug into the kitchen, and she realized that Zhao Shuming had already placed the vegetables in the draining basin to soak.
“No, you’re just responsible for eating.” Zhao Shuming paused, “You’re just responsible for praising my cooking skills.” He laughed.
Hearing this, Jiang Yimiao immediately gave him a thumbs up, “You’re even better than the Imperial Chef, I’ll see who says your cooking isn’t good.”
She said these words with an extremely serious expression, and Zhao Shuming was amused by her.
Jiang Yimiao never skimped on his compliments, she was always this cute.
“Alright, you’ve also worked all morning go rest, there’s fruit on the living room table, you can have some if you want.”
He turned around and pulled out the food he was going to make for lunch today from the fridge.
“But don’t eat too much oh, it’s going to be lunch later.”
Jiang Yimiao looked up at his eyes, usually people with very dark pupils looked a bit fierce or unapproachable.
Zhao Shuming’s pupils were black with almost no brown, but he wasn’t a cold person, instead he always had a gentle look.
As far as she could remember, he had never even lost his temper with her.
The only thing that could be considered an “argument” was when he wouldn’t let her eat ice cream when she was recovering from a cold, and Jiang Yimiao lost her temper with him.
He was always so attentive.
But Jiang Yimiao had long gotten used to this kind of meticulousness, and never even felt that there was anything wrong with it.
“Good.” She answered then walked to the living room with pleasant steps.
Zhao Shuming looked at her back, still maintaining the same look he had just had, he thought, he will always keep her, forever.
The rain fell so hard that it probably poured out all the water in God’s stomach.
The weather was good for a week after that day, with occasional half-hour showers followed by sunny days.
Recently, she had been looking at houses on the internet, and her personal information had been leaked long ago, causing Jiang Yimiao to receive phone calls from agents from time to time asking her if she wanted to buy or rent a house.
She then remembered that she needed to take advantage of the good weather these days to go look at houses.
After taking a shower, Jiang Yimiao walked back to her room with her cell phone in her pocket, furtively closing the door behind her before making a WeChat call to Cheng Wenyao.
She was lying on the bed holding a doll in one hand, holding her cell phone in the other hand waiting for Cheng Wenyao to answer her call.
Cheng Wenyao didn’t know that Jiang Yimiao was now sharing a room with Zhao Shuming until today.
As Jiang Yimiao’s best friend of the same sex, she didn’t really have a deep impression of Zhao Shuming.
What’s more, she and Jiang Yimiao were alumni in middle school but didn’t become classmates until high school, but Zhao Shuming had already left the country when Jiang Yimiao was in her second year of high school.
So most of what she knew about Zhao Shuming was directly from Jiang Yimiao.
“No, how long has it been since the two of you have spent time together, wouldn’t it be dangerous to just share a room like this?” Through the cell phone Cheng Wen Yao’s voice couldn’t help but pull a little louder.
Jiang Yimiao subconsciously looked at the wall, across that wall was Zhao Shuming’s bedroom.
I don’t know if it’s because she’s a thief or what, but Jiang Yimiao covered the microphone and whispered, “There’s definitely no danger, he’s very nice.”
After years of dealing with codes and algorithms, Jiang Yimiao’s language skills had deteriorated to the point where she would only subconsciously say “he’s nice” when complimenting someone.
Unlike Jiang Yimiao, Zhao Shuming was a stranger to Cheng Wenyao.
Like Jiang Yimiao, she was very wary, especially of men.
Although she had heard some words related to Zhao Shuming from Jiang Yimiao over the past few years, causing her initial impression of Zhao Shuming to be not bad. But after all, it was the opposite sex, and one couldn’t be too defensive.
“Then you still have to pay attention to it.”
“More than this, I think I’m more of a bit of a nuisance to him, I’m staying at his house and he refuses to charge me even if it’s okay, the hygiene and cooking are all covered by him. I usually work overtime all the time, so I can’t share anything. I’m a little embarrassed, so I’m not saying that I want to find a new house recently.”
Jiang Yimiao lay on the bed and crossed her legs comfortably, exhaling.
“That’s also true, but unfortunately our companies are too far apart to share an apartment.” Cheng Wenyao followed suit and let out a sigh.
It seemed that every girl would make a vow with her best friend to live together after graduation and work, but ninety-nine percent of such vows failed.
Cheng Wenyao worked for a pharmaceutical company, and several of the more famous biomedical companies in South City were headquartered in Science City, far away from the center of South City where Jiang Yimiao was located.
“Then are you free on Friday night to accompany me to look at the house?” Jiang Yimiao rolled over and asked her.
“Yes, I’m free on Friday, I’m free for the whole day.” Cheng Wenyao agreed obediently.
“And didn’t my parents sponsor me to get a new car, so I’ll take you on the road, I’ll pick you up from your house, and then I can drive and help you move if you move, hehehe.”
“OK.”
Jiang Yimiao and her talked some more before ending the call.
She put down her cell phone and exhaled a breath from her mouth to blow her bangs up, although it was very comfortable to live here, she still needed to find a new place to live.
It seemed like soon she would not be able to eat Zhao Shuming’s cooking, some inexplicable sadness.
It wasn’t until dinner the next day that Jiang Yimiao smoothly talked to Zhao Shuming about the house she was looking at.
She had looked online for a long time and finally selected two apartments, so if there was no problem, she would choose the best one from these two.
Zhao Shuming lowered his head, his tone flat, “Still decided to move out?”
Jiang Yimiao forgot to take off her glasses when she left work today, she pushed the somewhat bulky frames.
“Didn’t we say it before, it’s not like we’re separated forever, aren’t we both still living in the same district?”
Zhao Shuming only nodded and spoke after a long time, “Then do you want me to go with you to look at the house?”
Jiang Yimiao waved her hand, “No, I’ve arranged to go with Cheng Wenyao in the next two days.”
Zhao Shuming was stunned for a moment, then his fingertips gripped the chopsticks tightly, so hard that they turned white.
He didn’t know Cheng Wenyao well, but he didn’t like her.
Rather than dislike, it was more like jealousy.
Zhao Shuming was jealous that she was the one who had spent her adolescence with Jiang Yimiao, and he was jealous that she could so easily gain Jiang Yimiao’s trust and love.
