Chapter 07
Jiang Siwei had no way of refusing Lou Jia’s proposal. She wiped her tears with her hand and said yes, then looked at her pitifully and asked, “How long do you need to think about it?”
Lou Jia snapped his fingers on his forehead and said with a laugh, “Don’t push it too far.”
Jiang Siwei had just cried, and his nose and eyes were red, looking pitiful. He pursed his lips and whispered, “But I’m going back in a month or so.”
Lou Jia didn’t think too much about it and went along with his words, “Then consider it before you leave.”
Jiang Siwei immediately said yes, and his wet eyes lit up instantly.
Lau Ka suddenly felt like she had fallen into his trap: “Jiang Siwei, did you wait for me here?”
“No,” Jiang Siwei mumbled, touching his face and saying, “If you hadn’t noticed, I didn’t plan to tell you today… frankly.”
“If you don’t want me to find out, don’t do it so obviously.” Lau Ka rubbed his head vigorously, and the softness made her rub it twice. “Okay, hurry up and clean up. It’s time to eat.”
“Okay.” Jiang Siwei obediently agreed, wishing she could really dress up like a puppy and jump into Lou Jia’s arms to pout.
The finishing work was not too troublesome, and Jiang Siwei basically did not let Lou Jia get involved, and she finished the rest of the work before dinner.
She even had time to clean up the kitchen.
Lou Jia said he needed time to think, and Jiang Siwei didn’t want to stick too closely to him. He didn’t even sit at the same table with Lou Jia at dinner that night, but his eyes never left Lou Jia’s.
When he saw her get up to take the tray, he didn’t finish his rice and started eating it while walking, rushing out of the cafeteria with Lou Jia.
But the last bite of rice was too full, and Jiang Siwei couldn’t swallow it for a long time, almost choking himself.
Lou Jia was speechless and amused. She went to get him a glass of water: “What are you thinking about? I’m not going anywhere.”
Jiang Siwei didn’t have time to talk. With the water, he finally swallowed the last bite. He answered in a way that didn’t make sense: “Do you have anything to do tonight?”
“I have to write a lesson plan for a while. Why?”
“After you finish writing the lesson plan, if it’s still early, can you go out with me?” Jiang Siwei said, “I’ll take you somewhere.”
“Okay.“ Lou Jia asked again, ‘Where are we going? Principal Luo said we can’t go too far at night, and there might be wild boars in the mountains.’
”It’s a secret, but it’s definitely safe.” Jiang Siwei smiled, ‘Remember to wear long sleeves and long pants, preferably black.’
Lou Jia was really a little curious, but she guessed that Jiang Siwei would definitely not say it, so she had to figure it out herself. She wrote the lesson plan faster than usual.
It was only a little after nine o’clock, and she had already packed everything up and sent a message to Jiang Siwei.
Jiang Siwei walked out of the room at the other end of the corridor and waved to Lou Jia. He was dressed in black, and his eyes were particularly bright in the night: “Let’s go.”
Lou Jia only had a black jacket, which he wore over his short-sleeved shirt, and he wore cargo pants of a similar style to Jiang Siwei’s.
The two of them walking together, if you didn’t look closely, they looked quite like a couple.
“Can’t we go into the mountains at this time of night?“ Lou Jia followed Jiang Siwei out of the courtyard and saw that they were heading towards the mountains. He couldn’t help but ask.
”If we’re not going into the mountains, we’re going to be near the foot of the mountain,“ said Jiang Siwei. ‘I heard the chefs talking about it when I was picking up firewood.’
”Okay,” Lou Jia didn’t ask again.
After walking for almost twenty minutes, Jiang Siwei stopped and took something out of his pocket: ”Wait, you should wear this first.”
“What?“ Lou Jia looked at him and saw the eye patch in his hand. ‘Jiang Siwei, what are you doing?’
”You’ll find out soon enough.” Jiang Siwei handed over the eye patch. ‘This is new, I haven’t even opened it yet.’
Lou Jia had no choice but to take it and put it on. ”If you dare let me fall, I’ll make you the headline news tomorrow.”
“I won’t let you fall,“ Jiang Siwei said. ‘But just in case, can I hold your hand?’
”…“
Lou Jia could only hand it over. The next second, her fingertips were suddenly wrapped in a warm embrace. She subconsciously wanted to pull back, but Jiang Siwei held her tighter.
”Don’t move around. The road here is not easy to walk on.” He seemed to be very close, so close that Lou Jia could vaguely smell the faint fragrance of soap on his body.
She was inexplicably nervous, and the temperature of the fingertips that touched her was getting hotter and hotter.
After walking for an unknown period of time, Lou Jia noticed that Jiang Siwei had stopped. She was about to lift her hand to remove the blindfold, but was stopped.
“Wait a little longer,” Jiang Siwei whispered.
The nights in the mountains are not quiet. The sounds of insects and wind intermingle, the branches and leaves sway, and there are occasional unknown chirps.
Lou Jia stood there, listening to the sound of each other’s breathing along with the sounds of the insects, the wind, the leaves swaying, and the occasional unknown chirping.
She smelled the smell of the grass and trees in the summer night, the smell of the soft, squishy soil under her feet, and the fragrance of the soapberry that lingered in her nostrils.
“Here it comes,” Lou Jia heard Jiang Siwei’s voice in her daze, and she was about to ask what was coming when he suddenly lifted his hand to remove her blindfold.
Her vision was blurred for a few seconds, but Lou Jia could still see many lights undulating in the air, like a flowing starry sky.
She blinked her eyes and her vision gradually cleared, and she saw that the flowing starlight was the not-so-common fireflies.
They were in the grass, in the air, and flying all over the mountains and fields, gradually converging into a unique “starry sky.”
“It’s beautiful,“ Lou Jia looked up at the twinkling lights, some of which had even landed on her black jacket.
She reached out to touch them, but the fireflies flapped their wings and flew away.
”I was going to wait until the right time to bring you here,” Jiang Siwei said suddenly.
Lou Jia looked back at him, and her heart seemed to beat rapidly with the fireflies.
“Although it’s a bit sudden, I feel like I have to make these things clear, and I don’t want you to consider me in a hazy way.” Jiang Siwei’s eyes were serious. “Compared to other people, I may not be as good, I’m not mature enough, and I’m always used to being silly in front of you, but I really can’t help it. I don’t know how to think when I see you. When you smile at me, I feel like everything is worth it.”
“You said you didn’t want to weigh your feelings. I don’t know if my hesitation and timidity can be considered weighing. After all, I never even thought I would be able to stand in front of you and tell you these things one day.” He smiled, but his eyes turned red. ‘But God probably saw how pitiful I was and gave me this opportunity. I don’t want to miss it, and I don’t want to miss you.’
Jiang Siwei always stood two steps away from Lou Jia, as if in many moments in the past, he silently followed behind her, waiting for her to turn around.
Lau Ka suddenly felt a little heat in her eyes.
“Lau Ka.” This sentence had been hidden in her heart for a long time, and now it could finally see the light of day. Jiang Siwei’s emotions were a little difficult to control.
His Adam’s apple rolled lightly, and his voice was low and deep: “I like you.”
