Chapter 358: The Hint Interrogation Method
Downstairs, Gu You stood in the night wind with a bag in her hand. Seeing Chen Shi come down, she said, “You sure know how to involve me. I don’t even know how to interrogate, so why call me?”
“Breaking down people’s psychology is your specialty, isn’t it? Just use that trick from last time…” Chen Shi made a choking motion.
“What trick?” Lin Dongxue asked.
Gu You signaled Chen Shi with her eyes to stop talking. Since Lin Dongxue had been involved in the Ji Changxin case, it would be hard to explain if she knew that Gu You had used physiological hypnosis.
Gu You said, “I have an idea, but I need your cooperation. If the guy is truly fearless, there’s nothing I can do.”
“Ms. Gu, don’t do anything reckless,” Lin Dongxue warned.
“Don’t worry, I’ll just use a bit of suggestive technique. I won’t hurt him.”
As they went upstairs, Gu You explained her strategy. When they entered, Mr. Gao was tied to a chair with his back to the door, still exchanging threats with KK. Gu You pulled out a black cloth bag from her bag and suddenly covered Mr. Gao’s head with it.
Mr. Gao struggled frantically. “What are you doing? Take this off!”
Chen Shi said, “Let’s see how long you can last. Our interrogation expert is here.”
“Interrogation expert?” Mr. Gao sneered. “Even if the real police came, what could they do to me?”
Gu You coldly ordered, “Roll up his sleeve.”
She took out tools from her bag: a syringe, a soft tube, a funnel, and two bottles. Gu You signaled Chen Shi to fill one bottle with warm water. She then swabbed Mr. Gao’s arm with iodine-soaked cotton. Mr. Gao was tense, “What are you doing?”
“You’ll find out soon.”
Gu You inserted the needle into his arm but didn’t hit a vein. She taped the needle in place, attached one end of the tube to the needle, and the other end to the bottle, then started pouring warm water through the funnel into the tube.
Chen Shi understood. With the cloth bag over his head, Mr. Gao would think he was being bled, feeling the warm liquid flow out of him.
“The human body goes into shock after losing 800 milliliters of blood. Let’s see how long you can last,” Gu You said coldly.
Mr. Gao struggled. “I don’t believe you’d kill me. You can’t scare me!”
“Just wait and see!”
The room fell silent except for the sound of “blood” flowing into the bottle. Mr. Gao’s skin broke out in goosebumps, and he began trembling. Gu You whispered in his ear, “300 milliliters already. Do you feel your body getting colder?”
“You… you’ll be in big trouble if you kill me. The police won’t let you off!” Mr. Gao stammered.
KK laughed, “There are enough of us here to dispose of a body.”
Sun Zhen added, “And no one knows you’re here.”
Lin Dongxue was shocked at the atmosphere. She wondered why Chen Shi associated with these people.
“500 milliliters,” Gu You said. “Is your heartbeat slowing down? Struggling is useless. If we kill you, we’ll interrogate your accomplice next. Let’s see if he’s as tough as you.”
Sweat covered Mr. Gao’s neck. He suddenly screamed, “I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”
“Quickly!”
He gave an address. Sun Zhen checked it and nodded. Gu You removed the cloth bag from Mr. Gao’s head. Seeing the setup, Mr. Gao glared, “You tricked me!”
“Dongxue, take him and his accomplice to the station,” Chen Shi said.
“You’re real police?” Mr. Gao asked in surprise, but no one answered him.
After calling the police, Lin Dongxue pulled Chen Shi outside, “Why are you mixed up with these people?”
“Who do you think I should be with?” Chen Shi replied.
“Don’t joke. Are you seriously running a detective agency?”
Chen Shi shook his head. “It’s Wang Haitao’s office. I’m just helping out. These are my friends. You know I have a complex past and know all kinds of people.”
Lin Dongxue looked skeptical. “When we first met, you said you’d tell me your secret one day. We’re dating now. You don’t have to hide it anymore.”
Chen Shi brushed a lock of hair from her face. “Sorry, I can’t tell you yet.”
“But I want to know more about you. If you’re in trouble, I want to share it,” Lin Dongxue said earnestly.
Chen Shi smiled, shaking his head. “I promise I follow my conscience and have never done anything terrible. My secret just isn’t ready to be revealed. Please understand.”
Lin Dongxue gently punched his arm. “I know you’re good at heart; otherwise, I wouldn’t like you. I just don’t like your friends.”
“Alright, this is a one-time collaboration.”
Lin Dongxue pursed her lips, reluctantly agreeing.
Soon, the police called to say all the students had been rescued and several scammers were caught. Everyone cheered. Wang Haitao said, “That was quite a show. Dinner’s on me.”
Chen Shi said, “You guys pick a place. I’ll take the suspects to the station.”
Chen Shi, Lin Dongxue, and Xu Xiaodong took Mr. Gao and the bearded man to the police. Xu Xiaodong then drove Lin Dongxue home, while Chen Shi returned to the office. Lin Dongxue texted him, “Don’t drink. Get some rest.”
Wang Haitao had found a restaurant. When Chen Shi arrived, KK enthusiastically gave him a seat. Wang Haitao said, “Mr. Chen, I knew calling you was the right decision. You and your friends are all exceptionally skilled. I thought the agency wouldn’t last, but now I see hope. Everyone…” he looked around, “I have a proposal. I’ll keep 20% of the agency’s shares, and the remaining 80% will go to Mr. Chen. You four can run it. I believe it will thrive.”
Gu You smiled, “Mr. Wang, you’re very different from when I met you in my consultation room.”
Wang Haitao poured her a drink. “I haven’t properly thanked you, Ms. Gu.”
“No need. But I have my own psychology practice, so I can’t join the agency.”
KK slapped his leg, “I’m interested! This business seems fun. You don’t know how hard it is to be a thief these days with everyone using phones…”
“What!?” Wang Haitao looked shocked.
“Don’t worry about it!” KK said. “I want to stay. Xiaochong, what about you?”
Sun Zhen said, “The work environment is nice, but I’m used to a laid-back schedule. I’m not sure I can handle regular hours.”
“Dude, didn’t you hear? We’ll have shares. We’re the bosses! Sleep as late as you want!” KK turned to Wang Haitao, “Isn’t that right, Mr. Wang?”
