Chapter 445: Green Car

Chen Shi raised his hands to show he wasn’t a threat, smiling calmly as he kept his eyes on the man.

The man waved his gun. “Give him the cigarettes.”

Chen Shi handed the cigarettes to one of the male employees, who nervously tried to light one for the gunman. His hands shook so badly that he couldn’t get it lit, prompting the gunman to slap him on the head, causing him to bleed. The gunman then lit the cigarette himself, taking a satisfying puff.

Chen Shi glanced at the injured employee and asked the man, “What’s your name?”

“Call me Brother Fei.”

“Brother Fei, you don’t seem to work for this company. Why are you hijacking this bus? What do you want?”

“Take a guess.”

“Give me a hint.”

“Start the bus.”

“You want the driver to start the bus?” Chen Shi repeated, making sure Lin Qiupu could hear through the radio.

Lin Qiupu responded, “The bus cannot move. The highway is nearby. If it gets on the highway, we’re in big trouble.”

Chen Shi smiled and said, “Look, the highway is just ahead. You’re holding a gun. If the driver gets nervous and causes an accident, we all die.”

“You drive then!”

“I don’t know how to drive.”

“Tell the cops to back off!” Brother Fei yelled.

Chen Shi spoke into his radio, “Everyone, back off. Move ten meters away.”

The police began to retreat. Seeing this, Brother Fei believed Chen Shi had authority. “You wanted a hint? Here’s one: the boss of this company is my wife.”

“Really?” Chen Shi looked around at the young men on the bus, some of whom were quite attractive. “You suspect your wife is cheating on you?”

Brother Fei laughed. “Not suspecting. It’s a fact!”

“So who’s the third party…? I have a suggestion. Why not take the third party as a hostage and let the others go? There’s no need to involve the whole company in this.”

Lin Qiupu’s voice came over the radio, “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Chen Shi pointed outside. “Look at the traffic jam. It’s hot. Think about the other drivers. I can tell you’re not an impulsive person. Consider my suggestion.”

Brother Fei sneered and pointed at several employees. “Him, him, him, him… They’re all third parties! I can’t even count how many times I’ve been cheated on. I’m already a green field…” He kicked the back of one employee’s seat. “Stand up and tell me how the boss hired you!”

The trembling employee stood up. “During the second round of interviews, the company told me to go to a hotel. I met Manager Yuan there. She was very nice, chatted with me for a while, and then asked me to… take off my clothes. I couldn’t refuse, so I did. Then… we had sex.”

“How many times? How many times since you joined the company?” Brother Fei shouted.

The employee, sweating profusely, admitted, “About ten times… We work late every night, which means staying with Manager Yuan…”

“Sit down!” Brother Fei grabbed another employee by the arm. “You, tell your story!”

This employee was even more terrified, starting to cry. “Brother Fei, it’s not our fault. Manager Yuan pays well and treats us well. This ‘company culture’… we had no choice but to follow.”

“Who said that! Stand up!” Brother Fei turned, aiming the gun at the silent employees. Unable to find the culprit, he vented his anger on the young man he was holding, hitting him with the gun’s butt. “You were so smug when you were with my wife. ‘Mine’s bigger than your husband’s,’ wasn’t it you who said that?”

The young man defended himself with his hands, “I never said that.”

“I’ll kill you!”

“Don’t be impulsive! Brother!” Chen Shi intervened.

Seeing that Brother Fei had done his research, the young man confessed, “I’m sorry, Brother Fei. I was just talking nonsense. I didn’t mean anything by it… If I knew you were such a hero, I wouldn’t have dared.”

“Flattery! Flattery!” Brother Fei shouted, hitting him again. “You’re the most diligent worker!”

“Brother, stop hitting him. I understand they’re victims too.”

“Victims…” Brother Fei stopped, laughing manically. “These men are my wife’s harem. She enjoys herself at work and acts like a busy woman at home, ignoring me. Now, I’ll give you a chance. If you’ve slept with my wife, raise your hand! If you lie, I’ll kill you!”

The employees exchanged glances, with seven or eight raising their hands. One hesitantly asked, “Does oral count?” and raised his hand.

Chen Shi was shocked. This really was a harem. So many employees had been with Brother Fei’s wife. He couldn’t help but ask, “Isn’t Manager Yuan abusing her power to force sex on her subordinates?”

The employees chatted among themselves, seemingly forgetting the situation. Brother Fei, pulling his hair in frustration, yelled, “Shut up! I’ll kill you all!” and the bus fell silent.

Brother Fei, trembling with rage, pointed his gun at Chen Shi. “You see what kind of life I live? As a man, do I have any dignity left? I got on this bus intending not to come out alive!”

Chen Shi, worried about the gun going off, said, “Calm down. I understand your pain. The law offers solutions. You can divorce your wife instead of taking extreme measures.”

Brother Fei shouted, “How could you accept this? My dignity as a man is gone! Even if I divorce her, everyone will look down on me. How will I live?”

Chen Shi thought, You’re making sure the whole world knows now.

To calm him down, Chen Shi changed the topic, “I’m curious. How did you and your wife meet and marry?”

“That bitch used me!” Brother Fei shouted.
