Chapter 68: Evidence of Infidelity

Wu Hao took a bag from his locker and pulled out a bedsheet. It seemed like it hadn’t been washed in a long time, emitting a strong odor that made Lin Dongxue cover her nose.

Wu Hao said, “This bedsheet was soiled by that adulterous couple at my brother’s house. It has their bodily fluids on it. I previously asked the forensic department to examine it, but they refused. I don’t know how you people work.”

Chen Shi wanted to laugh and asked, “You’re very meticulous. When did this happen?”

“A few weeks ago.”

“Was your brother home at the time?”

“No, he was probably out getting supplies. Those two scumbags used his bedroom… Damn it!”

“Were you there?”

“Yes, I went to see my brother and caught them in the act. I chased the guy away, but that slut defended him. I told them to wait because I’d definitely tell my brother. So, I kept the evidence for a future divorce case, but it turned out to be useful now.” Wu Hao sighed, tears welling up in his eyes.

“Is this all you have?”

“There’s more!”

Wu Hao pulled out some photos, all secretly taken of the couple meeting up. Many of them clearly showed their faces, which would be legally admissible in civil court.

Chen Shi flipped through the photos, saying, “You must have a lot of free time as a fitness trainer, doubling as a private detective.”

“For my brother’s sake, I made time even when I didn’t have any!” Wu Hao declared righteously.

Chen Shi shook his head, “We’re looking for evidence of a murder. This only proves they had an affair.”

“It’s adultery!” Wu Hao shouted.

“Okay, adultery. Do you have any evidence of the murder?”

“Yes!”

Wu Hao pulled out his phone and played a recording. In the recording, a man and a woman could be heard laughing and talking. The conversation went as follows:

Woman: That old turtle argues with me all the time. I’m so sick of it.

Man: Baby, whatever he owes you, I’ll make it up to you.

Woman: You’re the only one who treats me well… I wish I had met you earlier.

Man: It’s not too late now. I’m discussing divorce with my nagging wife. Once I get rid of her, I’ll marry you.

Woman: That sounds great, but that old turtle refuses to divorce.

Man: Damn it, I’ll get a buddy to teach him a lesson.

Woman: Are you saying you’ll cripple him?

Man: Haha, if you want, I can make him disappear.

Woman: Darling, I love your domineering style… Ah…

Man: Do you like this?

Woman: I love it…

As the recording approached more explicit content, Wu Hao stopped it and said, “Officer, isn’t this enough evidence? The previous officers verified this recording was genuine. I recorded it outside the hotel room. I wanted to burst in and kill those adulterers!”

Chen Shi shook his head, “This isn’t evidence.”

“How is it not? They said it themselves.”

“Saying and doing are different. Only evidence proving the act of murder counts as evidence.”

Suddenly, Wu Hao yanked his hair and swept everything off the table, scaring the three officers who stepped back. Wu Hao pounded the table with his fists, shouting, “Then what are you cops doing? It’s been so many days, and you haven’t found any evidence. Every officer says the same thing. I’m not a cop. Where am I supposed to find evidence? Can’t you detain them and use some methods to get a confession? I swear my brother was killed by him!”

Seeing Wu Hao turn into an angry bear, Chen Shi calmly said, “Can you calm down? We are investigating the case. Sit down and take a deep breath.”

Wu Hao sat down, breathing heavily. “I have a bad temper. I can’t help it when I get mad… Sorry. But this involves my brother’s life. How can I not be emotional?”

Chen Shi asked, “What was your relationship with your brother like?”

“Do I even need to say? We were as close as can be, sharing everything since childhood. After our parents passed, I came to Long’an to work. He took me in. We had no secrets. He always thought of me first. Look, he gave me this watch.”

He showed them the Rolex on his wrist.

“I’d like to see a photo of him.”

Wu Hao searched his phone for a long time, finally finding a photo, though it was unclear. Chen Shi asked, “Do you have any others?”

“No, my brother didn’t like taking pictures.”

“Okay then, leave us your contact information, and we’ll be in touch.”

“Please hurry. My brother came to me in a dream last night, asking me to get justice for him. I’m not kidding. If you don’t solve this case, I’ll take matters into my own hands.”

“Alright, we’ll do our best.”

Leaving the club, Chen Shi chuckled. Lin Dongxue asked why he was laughing, and Chen Shi replied, “I was just thinking if he takes matters into his own hands, this would be quite a dramatic story, maybe even a movie someday.”
