Chapter 0167 – The Wardrobe
”The female nurse should be back after she’s finished dispensing the medicine in her hand, and when she realizes that the notes are missing she’ll definitely look around. However, I always feel that she’s only a little bit stronger than Tiny and Pencil Fairy, so even if we fight her head on, we won’t necessarily lose.”
Chen Ge grabbed the skull crushing hammer and entered the depths of the corridor, a different person in the same situation would probably have already been scared out of their wits, who would still have the heart to think about this.
Pushing open the door of a sick room with no luck, Chen Ge kept walking until he reached the door of the third floor bathroom.
”The sound of the door opening came from downstairs, the third floor bathroom shouldn’t be the room where the ‘door’ is located.” He could feel the white cat’s uneasiness on his shoulder, Chen Ge tried to push open the door to the bathroom, which was pitch black without a single ray of light.
The rows and rows of low cubicles looked a bit scary, the toilets in mental hospitals were different from schools, probably because they were worried about patients having accidents in the toilet, all the cubicles were not fitted with door panels.
After circling around and not finding anything unusual, Chen Ge finally stopped in front of the mirror in the sink, the mirror design here was very interesting.
The top of the mirror frame was fitted with a cloth curtain, like a window shade, which could easily cover the mirror by reaching out and pulling it.
This small arrangement in the bathroom of the third sickbay reminded him of his own house of horrors, “It seems that the mirrors here aren’t clean either.”
Chen Ge pulled back the cloth curtain on the mirror, and there were many stains on the mirror surface, as if it had been constantly stroked by dirty hands, even the silhouettes in the mirror didn’t look so clear anymore.
”The door isn’t here.” After getting a clear picture of the internal structure of the third sick building’s bathroom, Chen Ge had a bottom in his heart, and after he came out of the bathroom, he directly descended to the second floor from the stairs on the other side.
The closer he got to the ground floor, the thicker the stench wafting through the air became, and what surprised Chen Ge even more was that some strange and bizarre things began to appear on the walls and floors of the second floor corridor.
I don’t know whether it’s because of the deformation of the building over the years, or for other reasons, some parts of the walls on the second floor will somehow bulge outward, and the bulging places will also be red, as if the human skin had been hit hard, because of the rupture of subcutaneous blood vessels leading to redness and swelling on the skin’s surface.
The cracked floor also had something like blood stains remaining in it, as if blood had once flowed out of the cracks, only to dry up later.
The second floor was completely different from the third, and the horror index was almost directly doubled.
If the third floor was eerie and spooky, the second floor had already reached the point where it was dangerous and made people want to flee at all times.
”These things can’t really be blood, right?” Chen Ge grabbed some chunks from the ground and crushed them in his hands, “It doesn’t smell like blood, it should just be ordinary red dirt.”
The bedding on the corridor was a bit of a nuisance, and Chen Ge had lifted a few of them as he passed by them.
He realized that the closer he got to the ground floor, the more realistic these dummies were made, not that kind of visual realism, but the other side brought him a feeling similar to that of a living person.
”When I enter the first floor, will the dummy in the futon climb up by itself?” He wasn’t joking, but was seriously thinking about it.
After walking through the long corridor and passing through a sick room, Chen Ge saw a few special rooms near the corners of the corridor.
While the doors of the sick rooms were all fitted with windows to make it easy for the doctors to see the situation in the sick rooms from the outside, the doors of these rooms were a bit different.
”Dean’s office?” Chen Ge had almost run through the three sick buildings of the rehabilitation center, and this was the first time he had seen a room door with a label hanging on it.
Entering it, the room was large and seemed to have been remodeled by opening up three sick rooms.
The room had several dead plants placed against the wall, and next to them were empty bookshelves and desks for office use.
There was also a suite inside, only half the size of the outside, with a single bed and a large, exaggerated closet.
Closing the door to the room with his backhand, Chen Ge stepped into it, and there were a large number of case sheets scattered on the ground, but these case sheets were different from the ones in the female nurse’s notebook in that they were all unaltered, in other words the owners of these case sheets were still alive.
In the ten years that the Third Mental Disease Rehabilitation Center had been in business, the number of patients treated was very high, a number that far exceeded Chen Ge’s previous guesses.
Compared to the millions of people in Jiujiang, psychiatric patients only accounted for a very small portion of the population. However, there are only two regular public mental illness treatment centers in the whole of Jiujiang, and they can only receive less than a thousand people at full capacity, plus the relapse rate of mental illnesses is very high, and the hospitals are simply not enough, which is why there are a lot of private hospitals like the Third Rehabilitation Center.
Under the banner of the public sector, they are in fact private hospitals. Their treatments are old-fashioned and homogenous, their internal management is chaotic, and all sorts of accidents often occur. Because of the special nature of mental illness patients, many things end up unsettled, and Wang Haiming’s forcible confinement to the rehabilitation center is a good example.
Casually picking up a few cases and looking at them, Chen Ge quickly lost interest, the doctors prescribed similar diagnoses for most of the patients, even the treatment plans were exactly the same.
”Dr. Gao that’s what he calls saving people and curing the sick, they doctors are just stifling the mind and soul, turning patients into puppets that have lost themselves.”
Continuing to rummage around, the bookshelves and desk drawers were all empty, Chen Ge went back into the inner room, he lifted the bed boards, ripped off the covers and pillows, nothing was there.
Finally he looked towards the somewhat exaggeratedly large closet, the only place in the dean’s office that he hadn’t looked for.
”This closet is more than enough to fit two adults, is it possible that the missing dean is hiding in there?” Chen Ge carried a bone crushing hammer and scanned the closet.
The closet door was labeled with a police-specific seal, which shouldn’t have been torn off since it was put on, and the edges were intact.
”Why did the police seal up this cabinet? Could a body have been found inside?”
There was much more to the weirdness, the cabinet door had a police seal on it, it had been taped shut all around, there were strange words written on the corners of the cabinet door, and there were red nails half a palm length long nailed to it.
”It always feels like there is something very important stored in this cabinet.” Chen Ge carried the white cat to the door, he tore off the police seal and used a tool hammer to open the cabinet door.
There was no bloody scene as imagined, nor were there clothes and other odd things stored inside, there was only a sheet of white paper filled with writing and a few letters that hadn’t been sent out in time.
Casually picking up the topmost piece of paper, the first line that entered made Chen Ge’s heart beat wildly.
”The kid in room three is going crazy again, he was the first one to see the ‘door’, I suspect that the appearance of the ‘door’ has something to do with him.”
Wasn’t room three unoccupied? Where did this child come from?
Chen Ge continued to look down, this information sealed in the closet clearly recorded how a ‘door’ had destroyed the entire hospital.
