A+ A- Turn Off Light

The elevator last opened on the twelfth floor, right in the middle of the building.

”The game is over, but the 24th floor still hasn’t appeared.”

The silver-gray elevator door faced the darkened hallway, and Chen Ge stood inside and took out the Weird Tales Association’s flyer.

”The first floor corresponds to the twenty-third floor, the second floor corresponds to the twenty-second floor, the entire building is an odd number of floors, and the twelfth floor is right in the middle with no corresponding floor.”

After thinking for half a day, Chen Ge didn’t know if he actually succeeded or not, “Could it be because he was seen by the old man? So it failed? Need to try again?”

Today would already be Wednesday, the night was deep, and staying alone in the elevator looking out at the dark hallways, Chen Ge also felt something was wrong.

”There is the number 24 on the elevator display, but there is no corresponding button on the control panel, is this a mistake by the installers, or is it intentional?”

Chen Ge wasn’t willing to leave it at that and decided to go to the top floor to see for himself.

He pressed the button for the twenty-third floor, and the elevator began to rise upwards once again.

The numbers kept changing, never stopping in between.

  ”20, 21, 22 ……”

Chen Ge looked at the display, and when the numbers changed from 22 to 23, he suddenly realized that the elevator didn’t slow down like it had in the past.

The color of the numbers continued to deepen as if blood was seeping out of the wound, a cold wind blew in the closed elevator car, and strange noises came from outside the elevator from time to time.

Chen Ge stood in the corner, his body half-bowed, his fingertips gently touching the killing knife tied to his calf.

After about two seconds, the elevator began to slow down, and the last number on the display lit up when the elevator came to a complete stop.

  ”24!”

The silver-gray elevator doors opened to both sides, a few strands of blood sticking in the middle, and a strong stench poured in from outside.

Covering his mouth and nose, Chen Ge was very familiar with this odor; he had smelled a similar smell in Wang Shenglong’s room in Haiming Apartment, as well as on the first floor of the third sick building.

”This odor seems to be unique to the monster on the other side of the door!”

The elevator door opened completely, a cold wind blew in the empty car, and Chen Ge looked out at the long corridor that was almost completely dark, a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes.

He didn’t walk out directly, he first set his cell phone’s one-touch dialing to Gu Feiyu’s phone number, this was more of a process than calling the police, but it could effectively prevent the responding officer from omitting his presence.

After setting it up, Chen Ge took out another item from his personal pocket, and before he came, he was also considering whether he should take this item out of the haunted house.

”There is a requirement on the flyer that all members in the association must not divulge information to each other, so you must wear a mask.”

There were many masks in Chen Ge’s haunted house, but there was only one that was the most comfortable to wear – Dr. Cranium Crusher’s pieced-together human face.

”Wearing it felt like I could fit in more easily among this psychiatric group.”

It was more or less unnatural to wear a human skin mask for the first time outside a haunted house, but it was too late to think about such minutiae.

Walking out of the elevator, Chen Ge glanced back, the walls on both sides of the elevator door had some blood marks and mutilated bloody handprints on them, as if someone had struggled and climbed next to the elevator before being brutally grabbed back.

The silver-gray elevator doors slowly closed, and the elevator went down and never came back up.

”How am I going to leave this?”

When the car arrives at the mountain, Chen Ge can only comfort himself this way now.

He checked the things on his body and walked towards the building.

In the middle of the elevator, he could hear people screaming outside, but after coming out, Chen Ge found that the surroundings were quiet.

The security doors on both sides were all locked, and there was no sound coming out of the house.

”It feels like there are no living people on this floor.”

Continuing forward, the light became dimmer and dimmer, and more and more blood stains began to appear on the walls.

”Is the Weird Talk Association in the middle of one of the rooms?” Chen Ge walked forward about a dozen meters away and suddenly saw that a security door was open in front of him.

Carefully approaching the iron door, he was about to look inside when a person wearing a bird’s beak mask suddenly stepped out from it.

When both sides met, Chen Ge stopped in his tracks, but the bird beak man was startled and took a step back.

Chen Ge did not speak first, in this completely unfamiliar environment, the more one said the more dangerous it might be.

Both of them were silent, and after about a few breaths, the beakman asked with doubt, “Newcomer?”

”Yes.” Chen Ge changed his voice, making his voice sound huskier and lower.

”There are already three newcomers here today, how can there be a fourth?” The bird-beaked man blocked in front of Chen Ge, “How did you find this place?”

Chen Ge handed the Weird Tales Association flyer to the bird’s beak man, and the man looked at it and became even more puzzled, “It’s the flyer we sent out, but how come there are four people here this time?”

He walked up to Chen Ge and looked him up and down, his long beak almost touching Chen Ge’s face.

”Can’t smell any strange odors ……,” the beak man closed the security door next to him and said, not too sure, “You come with me.”

Chen Ge hung his head low and followed behind, his eyelids fluttering gently, and just now, at the moment the bird’s beak man turned to close the door, he glanced toward the room.

There were several wooden crates in the gloomy room, and one of them hadn’t had time to seal, with half an arm stuck in the gap, and a circular wound could still be seen in the center of the palm, as if it had been pecked through by a bird’s beak.

Following the beak man, the two came to the end of the corridor.

”Go in.” He pointed to a door at the deepest part of the corridor and said to Chen Ge.

  ”Good.”

Without any nonsense, Chen Ge pulled open the door and paused for a second or two to make sure that there was no danger at the doorway before walking straight in.

Taking a step, Chen Ge gently sucked in a breath of cool air when he saw the scene inside the room.

This room was much larger than he had imagined, and there was an extended dining table in the living room, with five people wearing faceless masks and black robes sitting on each side of the left and right sides, as well as three people in civilian clothes standing next to the dining table, not entering the table.

”Thirteen …… “Chen Ge memorized all of those people’s features in just a few seconds, “Is it because of the light? How come the five people on the left don’t have shadows, and only the five people on the right have shadows?”

”Go in, fourth newcomer, good luck.” The bird-beaked man didn’t give Chen Ge a chance to backtrack and slammed the security door heavily.

  ”Boom!”

The sound of the door closing was so loud that everyone in the room was attracted, and a pair of eyes looked at Chen Ge through the mask.

”How could there be a fourth newcomer?” The man sitting in the first seat on the right stood up, his voice was a bit shrill, and there were smoke scars on his exposed pinky finger.

”Don’t interrupt other people’s stories.” The man in the first seat on the left spoke faintly, a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone.

”But why are there four newcomers?” The man on the right resumed his seat.

”Don’t care how many newcomers there are now, there can only be three left at the end anyway.”

The man on the left said grimly, and hearing his words, the three newcomers standing next to the table all tensed a bit.
