Chapter 0301: I’ll take care of you from now on
The third drawer could not be opened no matter how Chen Ge pulled it outwards, he tried to pull out the top two drawers completely, wanting to see what the drawers contained from above.
But to his disappointment, the drawers were purposely separated in the middle by wooden boards, so he couldn’t see them at all.
”The house is cleaned up, and I don’t want to mess up the place, so if you can understand my words, you’d better come out yourself.”
It wasn’t the first time Chen Ge had threatened a ghost, although he himself didn’t know if doing so was useful.
Grabbing the edge of the drawer again, he used all his strength, but it was as if the drawer was stuck on something.
”Xu Yin!”
Chen Ge called out Xu Yin, and one person and one ghost grabbed both sides of the drawer.
As Xu Yin began to exert his strength, the wounds on his body crumbled open once again, and blood slid down his pale arm, dripping onto the edge of the drawer.
The drawer, which was originally unable to open, slowly loosened up.
”Harder!”
Xu Yin didn’t have any reservations, he would do whatever Chen Ge asked him to do.
A wound opened up, blood stained his tunic red, Xu Yin’s face grimaced, his hands full of his own blood, “It hurts!”
The tightly sealed drawer was finally pulled open a finger’s width, Xu Yin’s power seemed to be able to affect the contents of the drawer.
The blood flowed outward as the drawer was pulled outward a little bit by Xu Yin, and when it was about half a palm width open, several hands suddenly stretched out from inside the drawer!
There were men and women, looking different, and they seemed to be trying to block Chen Ge and close the drawer back up.
Caught off guard, both Chen Ge and Xu Yin let go of their hands, and the drawer closed again with a bang.
”Why are you guys doing this?” Chen Ge stopped Xu Yin, who was still ready to continue going to open the drawer, and picked up the skull crushing hammer, “I’m also doing this for your own good, after all, you might work together in the future.”
”I hope you guys think about it, I could have used violent means to smash the table or burned everything with fire and then slowly searched amongst the wreckage, but I didn’t do that, I’m a very kind person at heart, you can ask my friends around me about that.”
Chen Ge squatted next to the drawer, not at all afraid of any more strange things drilling out of the drawer, he grabbed the drawer handle: “This drawer was originally my thing, now I just want it back.”
Fingers slowly exerted force, Chen Ge tried to pull the drawer, “I won’t take tonight’s encounter to heart, although you guys deceived me three times, you didn’t really want to plot against my life, you should just want to scare me away. In fact, there is absolutely no need for you guys to take such an approach, I’m a more reasonable person, if there is anything you can say, we can discuss and solve it together.”
After saying that Chen Ge’s free hand raised the skull crushing hammer, “For example, right now, you guys already have nowhere to run, sooner or later you’ll have to face me, so why don’t you just drop your guard and let us have a good heart-to-heart talk.”
The tightly closed drawer shuddered gently, as if the ghosts and monsters living inside had a disagreement, and after a full ten seconds or so, the originally closed drawer voluntarily popped open a centimeter outwards.
”Not bad, enlightened, a buildable talent!”
Chen Ge took out the third drawer and placed it on the desktop, with only a few handmade comic booklets.
”This was made by the artist himself?”
The notebook said that no publisher was willing to publish the cartoonist’s work, and in his era, physical publication should be the only way out.
”So many ghosts came out of this booklet?” Chen Ge recalled tonight’s encounter and vaguely understood something as he flipped through the comic book produced by the cartoonist himself.
This artist’s drawing style was on the realistic side and looked very spooky, so it was no wonder that very few people were willing to publish his comics, and it was a bit hairy to look at them more than a few times.
The entire comic book consisted of five short stories, and the protagonist of the first story was the gambler, with a tall, thin body and sunken eyes, looking exactly like the tall, thin man Chen Ge had seen before.
The gambler was born in a single-parent family, his father never met him, and he was brought up by his mother.
He did not have a good education, he had nothing to do all day long, even if he had nothing to do, he was a good gambler, he was still a bachelor in his thirties, and he stayed at his mother’s house.
To him, life had no meaning, just living.
But when he was thirty-seven years old, his peaceful life was broken, his mother who had been taking care of him became seriously ill, and her hard-earned savings were quickly spent.
His mother wanted to give up the treatment, but the gambler did not agree, he sold everything in the house, and in the end, only the old house was left.
His mother’s surgery was still short of a large sum of money, and even if the surgery was successful, it would be impossible for her to do heavy work in the future.
He thought about it and started borrowing from loan sharks.
The operation went well, but the money owed had multiplied several times over. Debt collectors came to the door and forced the gambler to sell his mother’s house, and the gambler said to let him think about it for one night.
The next day the debt collector came to the gambler with a notary, and as soon as he pushed open the door everyone was stunned.
On top of the round table there was a basin full of blood, the gambler’s left hand was cut off, and he was standing at the table with a kitchen knife in his right hand.
He said he had never done anything for his mother, and now that she can’t do heavy work after surgery, if he didn’t have this house, he wouldn’t know where to live in the future.
So he will not sell this house, outsiders insist on robbing, then he will use his own life to offset the debt.
All the IOUs were signed by him, and he rushed out of the room with a kitchen knife raised, no one dared to stop him, and could only watch him run to the eighth floor and leap down.
The gambler died on the spot, but the hand he cut off was hidden somewhere.
The protagonist of the second story was an English teacher on internship. The old lady, the landlord, rented her the living room and a large bedroom, and she herself only lived in a small bedroom.
When the old lady’s son left, she was in a trance, so the English teacher took care of her as if she were her own mother.
The two slowly became familiar with each other and everything was going in a good direction.
The female teacher had to make up lessons for her students at night and came back late. The old lady would make meals in advance and put them on the table. She was old and with her poor health, she usually went to bed very early.
And the female teacher was afraid that she would come back and open and close the door to disturb the old lady’s rest, so every time she would ask the old lady to close the door to her room when she went to bed.
One day the female teacher came back very late, she simply did not realize that someone has long been staring at her, just as soon as she entered the hallway, someone rushed out and covered her mouth and nose.
She struggled madly, in the hallway and the murderer fought, the murderer did not expect her to resist so fiercely, in order to prevent the female teacher to make a sound, causing other people to pay attention to, the murderer dead cover her mouth and nose, feel out the knife will be killed.
The building could not dump the body, the murderer took the female teacher back to her rented room, disposed of the body.
The night was silent and the body was found by the old lady in a drawer in her room the next day.
The murderer was caught five days later, but the old woman’s illness worsened, and with the help of the community she was hospitalized.
This is when a third tenant is welcomed into the house, a real estate salesman, the man who is also the protagonist of the third story in the comic.
