A+ A- Turn Off Light

Daisy gave a nervous look, “You think his associates will still be looking for me?”

“I can’t say for sure, those were just speculations on my part.” As Luke’s words trailed off, two waiters approached with wooden trays, Luke’s was a lamb chop set and Daisy’s was a steak set.

The plates contained three small lamb chops, fried eggs, pasta, broccoli, Dutch beans, and sage.

Luke originally liked to eat meat, after crossing over he was still able to adapt to the diet over here, if it was someone who didn’t like to eat meat, it would be best if he didn’t come to a foreign country.

Luke took a bite of lamb chops, juicy and great flavor.

Daisy took a bite of beef and put down her knife and fork, “What should I do?”

Luke took a sip of water and smoothed it out, “If my assumptions are correct, you should have something they want, something important.”

Daisy was helpless, “I really don’t know what they’re looking for?”

“Could it have something to do with a lawsuit or client you’re working on?”

“I do have a couple of cases on my hands, but they’re all pretty normal cases, so it’s reasonable to assume that this wouldn’t happen.”

“Tell me about the case you’re handling right now.”

“Oh ……” Daisy was a little embarrassed, “I’m sorry, I signed a confidentiality agreement, according to the rules I can’t disclose the case or the client, I’m really sorry.”

Lawyers are obliged to keep their clients’ secrets, from a professional point of view it is no problem, but Luke is still uncomfortable in his heart, I help you with your advice and you have to hide it from me.

Institutionally there was no problem, but emotionally it would feel uncomfortable.

Luke suddenly felt a lack of interest, he helped because he had a good feeling about Daisy, I talk about human feelings, you talk about the system.

“I understand …… however, it is difficult to make further analysis based on the existing clues alone, and I suggest you call the police to deal with it.”

“Aren’t you the police? Can’t you help me continue the investigation?”

“I’d like to help you, but right now it’s just a surveillance blackout and your office isn’t missing any valuables, making it difficult to prove that someone has entered your office. This kind of situation is usually handled by the patrol police.” Not only did the lawyers have a system, but the police did as well.

“The suspect, Tim, has confessed, the chain of evidence is strong, and the robbery is theoretically past the investigation stage. Unless there are new leads, like someone breaking into your office and proving a connection to the robbery, we can reopen the investigation, I don’t have the authority to continue it.”

Daisy bit her sexy red lip, a little nervous, “What if the suspect’s accomplice wants to continue to hurt me?”

“You don’t have to be overly nervous, what I said just now is just speculation, there’s no factual basis, pay more attention, and call 911 at the first sign of a situation.”

After eating, Luke went back to the police station, catching up is not a deal, investigating a case is even more so.

For those who are not willing to cooperate with the police, Luke will never be spoiled.

One o’clock in the afternoon.

Robbery and Murder Division, conference room.

Susan sat in the main seat, swept a glance at the team members on both sides, and asked, “David, Luke, any progress on the informant’s side?”

David kept his head down, not meaning to respond.

Luke replied, “We met with the informant, Harry, and he didn’t find out Tony’s whereabouts, however, we learned from him that Tony has a friend named William. We gave William a statement.”

“The two have known each other for over a decade, Tony rarely mentions his family in Nevada, and once in a while he gets drunk and only talks about his wife and kids, but official information doesn’t show that he’s ever been married ……”

Marcus grinned his black lips and said, “For the bottom feeders getting married doesn’t mean they have to register for a license, they don’t give a shit about bullshit official proof. Tony may have had a woman he loved at one time and the two had a child, but the woman left Tony because he was down on his luck in life or something. That kind of thing is all too common.”

“Marcus, I know you know more about the ghetto, but please hear me out, OK?”

Marcus shrugged.

Luke continued, “According to William, every year Tony is visited by a man of good means who drives a BMW X5, and the two should have known each other for many years, but it’s unclear exactly what their relationship is.

One more thing, Tony seems to be very anti-police.”

Marcus said, “Yea, that’s a common problem with criminals.”

Luke was a little offended, “You say or I say?”

Marcus made a gesture of invitation.

“Earlier, I found bags suspected of being tainted with D-stuff at Tony’s house, and Tony was supposed to still be smoking it. But from what I learned from William, Tony’s finances are okay, and I suspected that he might have other financial resources. That’s all that’s been learned so far.”

Susan finished listening, “Lieutenant, what do you think?”

Vince thought for a while, “For someone who isn’t financially well off D-goods is a big expense, and if Tony has other financial outlets, it could be through robbery, which is considered one of the motives for the crime.

If Marcus’s hypothesis is right, Tony had a woman and child that he loved dearly and then left him for some reason, as a result, Tony grew to hate him out of love.

The suspect’s modus operandi suggests that the robbery was not just a robbery, but also a form of revenge, and if his hypothesis is correct, the victim’s physical characteristics are likely to be similar to those of Tony’s beloved woman, both of whom were white women with long blonde hair.

That would be his second motive.”

The lieutenant took a sip of his coffee and continued, “The third point is that Tony’s lack of contact with his hometown relatives over the years, coupled with his police-hating traits, suggests that he may have committed a crime in his hometown.

I suggest going to his hometown to investigate, if he hasn’t committed a crime in his hometown, it’s likely that he’ll flee to hide in his hometown when he leaves Los Angeles.

If he has committed similar cases in his hometown, there’s no chance that we can find out other clues.”

Although the vice team was older and not as mobile as the younger ones, their experience in handling cases was nothing to write home about, and coincided with Luke’s point of view.

Although Susan had an argument with the vice team, she still recognized his case handling ability and instructed, “Marcus, Jenny, you two are in charge of investigating Tony’s wife and child.

Ramon, you’re in charge of investigating the rich man’s clues.

David, Luke, you guys take a trip to Nevada to investigate the clues in Tony’s hometown.”

Going to a foreign place to investigate a case and traveling long distances was hard, Luke was experienced with this, “Captain, can we change the mission?”

Susan said with an expressionless face, “What do you think?”

After the meeting broke up, Luke found Susan.

“Captain, I’d like to talk to you about the robbery last Thursday.”

“Come in.”

The two men entered the office and sat down in separate rooms.

Susan picked up her teacup and took a sip of black tea, “You’re not using this case to make a deal with me in order not to go to Nevada, are you.”

“I didn’t mean that, I met with the victim, Daisy, yesterday and learned something new from her.” Luke recounted her conversation with Daisy briefly.

Susan asked rhetorically, “You think the surveillance outage has something to do with the robbery?”

“I’m not sure, just a guess. I can look into it if you think it’s necessary.”

Susan nodded, “Then I’ll go to Nevada to investigate with someone else?”

Luke laughed, “I have no problem with that.”

Susan squeezed out a rare smile, “No!

I’ll contact Ms. Daisy, don’t worry about going.”
