A+ A- Turn Off Light

Jenny took Shirley for a physical examination.

If she had followed her description, she should have signs of being a Q offender, such as a laceration down there.

If the examination didn’t, it would prove that she was lying.

Shirley’s description of herself as the victim of the case is, to be frank, only her personal statement.

It still doesn’t rule out the possibility that she is the murderer.

Even if it proved that there was, it couldn’t completely rule her out, after all, she and the deceased had also exercised.

Luke took out his notebook and jotted down the names of Shirley and her husband.

Both of them had potential motives for the crime.

The reason why I said potential was because it was still just Luke’s guess and no relevant evidence had been found.

For example, was there a conflict between Shirley and the victim?

If there is a conflict between the two and Shirley has been to the crime scene, she is the first suspect.

Also, did Shirley’s husband know that his wife was cheating on him?

If the other person knew, the potential motive for the crime, becomes a clear motive for the crime.

Luke would then have a reason to launch an investigation into Shirley’s husband.

But at this stage, there is no relevant evidence.

Another possibility cannot be ruled out, which is that the crime was committed by a non-acquaintance, and it was completely random.

In that case, the scope of the investigation would need to be expanded.

Among them, Shirley also mentioned a key point, that is, the murderer in the middle of the crime there is a gray or black car drove past, according to Shirley’s statement, they should have seen the crime, at least heard the gunshot.

If this car can be found, it may be able to prove Shirley’s innocence, in addition, the gang may also provide some clues about the suspect.

North side of the city of Los Angeles.

The crime scene was located on the hillside of Mount Carbon.

At eight o’clock in the evening, Luke brought Blackie and Jackson to the Kapoor Hill neighborhood for a late night snack.

Luke selected a small roadside store and ordered a few kebabs and three beers.

That’s right, just a few kebabs.

One skewer of grilled beef, one skewer of grilled wings, one skewer of grilled shrimp, one skewer of grilled sausage, one grilled fish, and one grilled jumbo pepper.

The portions were all large enough for three people.

Luke picked up his beer, “Come on, let’s clink glasses, it’s on me tonight.”

Jackson asked, “Lieutenant, why are you buying tonight.”

Luke speared a piece of beef with his fork, “Because I have money, any questions?”

Earlier, Luke had been paid $30,000 in consulting fees for helping to set up the robbery at the supermarket, and that had been turned around today.

Extra money like this seemed to be higher than a police officer’s salary, but in reality it was not stable.

And of that thirty thousand dollars, half of the rest was due to Luke’s status as a police officer, in addition to the hard-earned money for investigating the case.

If Luke didn’t have his position as a vice-captain of the Robbery and Murder Division anymore, it was unlikely that people would pay him that much as a consultant.

Platform mattered.

“No,” Jackson shrugged.

Blackie laughed, “Lieutenant Luke solved a lot of big cases and got a lot of bonuses.”

Jackson pressed, “Are there bonuses for solving cases? How much.”

“You’ll find out later, rookie.” Blackie made a perfunctory comment and took a bite of a grilled sausage, baring his teeth from the heat, “Luke, what are we doing here?”

“Eating and walking up the hill to investigate.”

Jackson wondered, “Why don’t we walk around during the day, instead of waiting until night.”

Luke took a sip of his beer and smoothed it out, “Different times to go to different places for different purposes. The ones who go to the mountains during the day and the ones who go at night aren’t even the same group of people.

They don’t cross paths with each other either.”

Xiao Hei laughed, “It’s like exercise.

The informant went to the mountain for exercise in the morning, and the victim and Shirley went to the mountain for exercise at night.

If the victim hadn’t been shot, it would be like two parallel lines between them, although they both like to go to the mountains to exercise, they will never intersect.”

Luke nodded, “That’s a good point, let’s walk around the crime scene after dinner, you two in one car, I’ll follow behind.

Pay particular attention to a gray or black sedan.

Keep your walkie-talkies on and stay in touch.”

Black pointed to himself and then to Jackson, who was off to the side, “Why are you putting me in a car with him?”

Jackson seemed to take some offense to the tone, “Lieutenant, I’m requesting a car with you.”

Luke laughed, “You two don’t seem to have the situation figured out, I’m in charge here.

Cooperate well and don’t make a mess.

Otherwise, I will report to the captain first.”

It was nearing nine o’clock.

A black Ford and a Mercedes went up the mountain one after the other.

The distance between the two cars was just a dozen meters.

Although Luke couldn’t hear or see them, he felt that these two goods were 80% fighting.

In fact, it didn’t matter.

Americans have stronger personalities.

Just like him and David, the two hadn’t quarreled much in the past, but to be able to top it at critical moments, that was a good partner.

So, it didn’t matter if Black and Jackson quarreled or not, as long as it didn’t affect the cooperation.

This time, with Luke following them, even if they had a mess, Luke could help them deal with it.

It was better than the two making a mess on a solo mission in the future.

Although this was unlikely, Blackie had an unreliable nature, and Jackson was a newcomer in his infancy, Luke felt it was better to observe.

Luke wasn’t driving fast and kept to the roadside conditions as the two cars pulled away some distance.

He saw a car parked in the rest area ahead of him, a black SUV.

Not the model he was looking for.

A short distance further on, Luke saw a scantily clad blonde woman waving from the side of the road.

The woman was dressed sexily, with a tight t-shirt that showed her belly button on top, and a short side-zip skirt and gray stockings underneath.

Luke stopped the car and looked out the window at the blonde woman and asked, “Can I help you?”

“Hey tough guy, I like your car.”

Luke smiled, “How do you know what’s good about me?”

“I can tell, where are you headed?”

“I heard the hills are nice at night, you can see the lights of L.A. I thought I’d go up there and check it out.”

“Isn’t it too lonely to be alone with such a big car and such a beautiful night? Tough guy.”

“What do you have in mind?”

“I can be your tour guide to another kind of beauty …… more exciting.” The blonde licked her red lips and drew circles on her chest with her right hand.

If he had just come to Los Angeles, this blonde girl indeed had no small attraction to him.

But now there really wasn’t much allure.

Although the blonde girl was dressed sexily, her looks and body were quite a bit worse than Daisy’s, and there were some things to be afraid of comparing.

“Are you here every night?”

“We can try to get along for a night, and if you can pay the right amount, I’ll give you a contact information, and in the future, we can contact each other by phone.”

Luke pressed, “Were you here last night?”

“Why do you ask?” The woman seemed to notice the difference, “I’ve made it so clear, a date or not?”

“How much?”

“350 dollars an hour.”

Luke asked the previous question again, “Were you here last night?”

“Are you sick? What do you care what I was doing last night?

I take back what I said before, you’re no tough guy at all, I was wrong about you.” The blonde girl gave a middle finger.

Luke flashed his badge, “LAPD, you better not move until I let you go.”

“Friggin’ hell, you’re actually a cop?”

“That’s right, answer me a few questions and I’ll let you go.”

The blonde smiled an odd look and reached into the small bag she was carrying.

“Don’t move!” Luke pulled out his gun straight away and aimed it at her face.

“Hey, hey, don’t be nervous, I’m a cop too.” The woman, somewhat helpless, pulled her badge out of her bag as well, and pointed to a button on her purse, “You know, the whole thing is recorded for law enforcement, and the guys will be ready to back it up if there’s a situation.”

Luke asked rhetorically, “You fucking with me?”

“No, how do I know you’re a cop, what kind of cop drives a Mercedes G500 around the hills?” The blonde girl grumbled, “It’s almost the end of the month and our team isn’t performing enough, so ……

Do you think I’m willing to dress up like this?” The woman shrugged somewhat helplessly, “What department are you in?”

“I’m with the Detective Bureau, what about you?”

“Canyon Division, Jolene Sally.” The blonde leaned her hands against the car window, “What are you doing here?”

“There was a robbery and homicide here last night, I’m in charge of the investigation, and I thought I’d stop by and see what’s going on.

Were you guys here last night?”

“No, tonight was the first action and my legs are sore from standing.” Joanna answered, holding her headset down with her right hand.

“I’m listening.

No, no need for backup, I can handle it.

The driver is a coworker who came to the neighborhood to walk around and check out the case, uh-huh.

I got it.”

Jolene finished and stepped back, “Tough guy, see you some other time.

I’m going to get back to fishing.”

Luke handed her a business card, “Remember to call me if you guys find out anything related to last night’s robbery.”

The blonde took the card and looked at it, “Lieutenant Luke, I will.”

“BYE,” Luke started the car.

“BYE.”

The blonde waved goodbye and watched the Mercedes leave.

She put her business card in her bag and walked in the other direction, as if she wanted to fish somewhere else.

However, she walked faster and faster, letting out a long breath when the Mercedes was completely out of sight.

Taking a carton of cigarettes out of her bag, she lit it up, took a drag, and

“FUCK!

Damn cop, scared the piss out of me.”
