The following morning.

Luke entered the Robbery and Murder Division office with Daisy, not without drawing a sideways glance from his coworkers.

“Good morning, guys.” Luke greeted, ready to take Daisy to the break room in order to avoid her embarrassment.

Walking to the door of the break room, he saw a figure shifting inside, “Who’s in there?”

Jenny sighed, “Steven’s mother is here from out of town and the captain is receiving.”

“OK,” Luke led Daisy into the conference room.

“Why don’t you sit down for a minute and I’ll get a glass of water.” Luke patted her on the shoulder and headed out of the conference room.

Marcus grumbled with a disgruntled look on his face, “You’re an abomination, we’ve been up all night working on a case and you’re flirting.”

“What the hell are you talking about, I was given a mission last night to protect Daisy.”

Marcus came over with his glass and touched Luke with his shoulder, “Comeon, honestly, been doing your exercise?”

Luke looked helpless, “I was working out too.”

Marcus smiled badly, “What’s the conflict? You can work and exercise together.”

Jenny bristled, “Hey Marcus, that’s a disgusting look on your face. Even if Luke likes Daisy, he can’t at this point in time …… What’s the difference between that and taking advantage of someone.”

The lieutenant said, “I agree with Jenny, Marcus, a little more humanity.”

Marcus spread his hands, “Why are you all targeting me together?”

“A little more humanity.” Luke dropped his words and headed into the conference room with his glass of water.

Daisy looked curious, “What were you guys talking about out there?”

“They said you were pretty and complimented me on my vision.”

“You told them about us?”

“I didn’t. But this is the Detective Bureau, and they’re some of the best cops in L.A. ……”

Daisy nodded a little helplessly.

“Cluck ……”

The door to the conference room opened and Susan walked in from outside.

“Ms. Daisy, I’ve kept you waiting.”

Daisy stood up, “Captain Susan, thank you for arriving in time last night.”

“You’re welcome, it was my duty. Please have a seat.” Susan made a gesture of invitation and squared her shoulders.

“Let me first tell you about yesterday’s testing, the Technical Division’s personnel found a camera in your study, other than that no other surveillance or eavesdropping devices were found, and biological traces have also been collected, so you can go home today.”

“Thanks.”

“Also, from the angle of the camera shot it looks like it should be facing the safe, does that hold anything valuable?”

“There’s some jewelry and documents.”

“Do you have a suspect for the person who installed the surveillance?”

Daisy glanced at Luke, saw a slight nod from the other man, and said, “I suspect that the installation of the surveillance in the house is likely related to March 2, the robbery that was.”

“You don’t think the last robbery was an accident, that there was something else going on?”

“Yes.”

“Is there any basis for that?”

“There was a break-in at my law firm’s office on March 2, followed by a robbery, and the installation of surveillance yesterday. All of these things happened to me in less than half a month, and I don’t think they can be explained by coincidence.”

“Has anything similar happened before?”

“No.”

“Have you sinned against anyone recently? Or been given certain valuable items that have attracted prying eyes.”

“I’m a lawyer and I’m in the middle of a probate case at the moment, which I suspect may have something to do with it.” Daisy recounted her conversation with Luke last night.

Susan listened and nodded, “Considering the interest aspect, the client’s family does have a motive to commit the crime. Can you tell us the name of the testator and the specific contents of the will?”

Daisy was a bit embarrassed, “Captain Susan, I am personally willing to assist your department and can also provide the name of the client. However, professional reasons prevent me from providing the contents of the will at this time. I’m really sorry.”

“NoNoNo, I can understand, I would have made the same decision if it were me.” Susan herself was very fond of talking about systems and rules, and didn’t see a problem with Daisy’s approach.

“You provide your client’s information, the police will investigate the situation on their own, as long as there is evidence that what happened to you is related to the probate case, we will apply for the relevant procedures to access the contents of the will.”

“Captain Susan, thank you for your understanding.”

Daisy said the identity of the testator, and Luke took notes.

Half an hour later, Daisy left the Robbery and Murder Division.

Luke walked her to her car, “What are your plans for today?”

“Going to the law firm first to take care of some work. Have housekeeping clean up this afternoon so I’ll feel better inside.”

“OK, call me if you need anything.”

Daisy turned her head slightly sideways and gave a small smile, “Can I call if there’s nothing?”

Luke leaned over and kissed her cheek, “Anytime.”

Witnessing Daisy’s departure, Luke was just about to head upstairs when his cell phone rang.

“Ringing ……”

Luke pressed the answer button, “Wow Wow, Boss Paul, I didn’t expect to get a call from you.”

“Officer Luke, I’m honored that you saved my number.”

“What can I do for you?”

“I just wanted to ask about Alyssa’s case, she’s an employee at my club and I want her back in the family safe and sound.”

“You’re a good boss.”

“What’s the status of Alyssa’s case? Any leads yet?”

“We have successfully rescued Alisa last Saturday, and she is doing well.”

“Is that a compliment?”

“Of course, sincerely. I’m relieved since Eliza is okay. She’s a great employee and I hope she comes back to work.” Paul finished and followed up with, “Was the killer Harry?”

“No, I can’t reveal too much about the case at the moment.”

“I understand, I’ll leave you to your work, come by the club sometime.”

“Is it free?”

“Do you want to see me dance?”

“No.”

“Then enjoy your spending in advance, I’ll instruct the waiter to give you 20% off your drinks.”

Luke hung up his cell phone, “What a horrible guy.”

Back at the office.

Susan gathered the crowd into the conference room for a meeting.

“Everyone’s here, let’s meet.”

Susan scanned the conference room and continued, “Steven’s mother left and she wants the police to help find Steven.”

The Vice Squad said, “I think Steven would have been taken out by Dave and probably buried in the Gobi.”

Susan asked back, “Do you have proof?”

“I wouldn’t be sitting here if I had proof.” The lieutenant shrugged, “And Tony, I think he was taken out by Dave too.”

“Lieutenant, the task of finding Steven and Tony is yours.” Susan interrupted, looking aside at Luke.

“You present Daisy’s case.”

“Daisy was robbed on the night of March 3rd and I caught the suspect, Tim, red-handed when Tim claimed it was a copycat ‘Taser Robbery’ and Daisy was her temporary target.

This may not actually be the case, as there was a break-in at Daisy’s law firm’s office on March 2, and with the installation of surveillance last night, it’s likely all connected.

Daisy is currently working on a probate case, and she’s speculating that all three cases may be related to the probate case.”

Luke then described the probate case, placing a piece of information on the projector that

Client Information.

Name, Lawn Bull.

Date of birth, May 12, 1970

Cell phone number, 626 876 3178.

Residential address, 102 Jon Street.

The lieutenant guessed, “Why bother with a video will when there’s a written one, it’s no use and only invites trouble.”

Jenny understood, “He probably wanted to say goodbye to his family in person.”

The lieutenant bristled, somewhat unimpressed, “Has Daisy seen that video will?”

Luke shook his head, “She only knew there was a video will, but she hadn’t seen the contents of the video either, it was the testator giving the family a farewell ceremony.”

Susan said, “It’s not the written will that’s the key to this case, Daisy is very tight-lipped and she didn’t even disclose anything about the written will to the police. It’s even more unlikely that it would be disclosed to the client’s family.

If anyone was upset about the distribution of the estate, it was likely that they had seen the estate distribution plan in the video.

The real trigger is actually the video will.”

“I agree with the captain’s analysis.” Luke nodded, appropriately kissing the leader’s ass was the only way to get ahead.
