A+ A- Turn Off Light

Eight o’clock in the evening.

Near Sophia’s house.

A black Dodge slowly stopped at the curb.

Luke and David both stepped out of the car.

David lamented, “It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on a case with you at night.”

Luke teased, “How was it? Did it feel romantic?”

“Go to hell.”

Luke didn’t want to work overtime either, but Caroline had already provided clues, and if he didn’t investigate in time, when Caroline slowed down, she would probably conspire with Sophia again, “Like last time, I’ll knock on the door, and you back off.”

David observed for a moment, “There are no lights on in the house, Sophia is most likely not home.”

“Or maybe she doesn’t want anyone to know she’s home.” Luke walked up and knocked, “Knock knock ……”

There was no response.

Luke knocked a few more times, still no response.

“I guessed right, let’s go, go sit in the car and wait.” David turned around and went back to the car.

It used to be the norm to sit in the car and stake out at night. Since coming to LA, this was the first time Luke had done it.

“I’m so sleepy, I want to sleep.” Luke yawned and leaned back in his seat.

“Ringing ……”

The cell phone rang.

Luke took out his cell phone, it was Daisy calling.

Luke got out of the car, “Hello.”

“Luke, off work yet?”

“No, still working late.”

“Me too.”

Luke asked back, “What time are you going to get off work?”

“Around ten. What about you?”

“I can’t say yet, something wrong?”

“Yea, it’s something, I’ll pick you up when you get off work.”

Luke smiled, “You’ve managed to pique my curiosity, what’s up?”

“Let’s meet up and talk.”

“OK,” Luke hung up his cell phone and got back in his car.

With the temperature difference in LA, it was kinda cool standing outside.

David laughed, “Your new girlfriend?”

“Your little detective reasoning skills are all over me.”

“Hey, don’t underestimate the seniors of the ‘Robbery and Murder Division’, if I wasn’t too lazy to use my brain, where would you be?”

“Ringing ……” David’s cell phone rang.

“Ramon, what’s the situation on your side ……”

“I know.”

Hanging up his cell phone, David said, “Let’s go, Ramon and the others have found Sophia.”

Luke was a little surprised, “Where?”

“Brooke’s house.”

Luke smiled, “Looks like the bloodless siblings are getting along well.”

Half an hour later, Luke and the others returned to the police station.

Sophia and Brooke were also brought back to the police station for separate interrogations.

Luke and David interrogated Sophia.

Ramon and Jenny interrogated Brooke.

Sophia was brought into the interrogation room with a nervous look on her face, “Why are you arresting me? What crime have I committed?”

“Sophia, we brought you back to the police station, naturally we have enough evidence. Don’t hold on to your luck, honestly tell us the situation clearly.”

“What do you guys want me to say?”

“It seems like you don’t want to get credit for reducing your sentence.”

Sophia said with a straight face, “I’m not guilty at all, what do you want me to explain?”

Luke went straight to the point, “Why did you stop Brooke from calling the police?”

The corners of Sophia’s mouth tugged slightly as she shook her head, “I don’t know what you mean?”

Luke continued, “I’ve made it clear enough that there are no impermeable walls in the world, do you still want to keep carrying on?”

Sophia lowered her head, her eyes flickering, her complexion somewhat tangled.

Luke continued to apply pressure, “Why did you attack Lawn, was it because you wanted to use this way to gain his favor, so as to obtain more inheritance?”

“No! I had nothing to do with the attack on my father.”

“Then why did you stop Brooke from calling the police? Even if you don’t, Brooke will. If you don’t admit it, then the blame is on Brooke.”

Sophia bit her lip and took a deep breath, “Yes, I admit that I was the one who stopped Brooke from calling the police.”

“Why?”

“I went back to my father’s house and saw him fall to the ground and I choked him. He had a brief awakening, and he was the one who told me not to call the police, and I did what he asked, which was his will.”

“Why didn’t Lawn let the police be called?”

“I don’t know.”

“How do you prove that what you’re saying is true, rather than passing the buck?”

Sophia was silent for a moment, “He’s my father.”

“How did you convince Brooke to help you?”

“I followed the ambulance to the hospital where Brooke was in charge of helping my father, and when he came out of the emergency room, he told me that my father might have been attacked and wanted to call the police.

I stopped him and told him about my father not wanting to call the police.”

Luke asked, “What makes him believe you about something this big? And willing to share the blame with you, something that could very well ruin a doctor’s career.”

“He wasn’t willing at first either, and I begged him to say yes. He was embarrassed …… but we were so close that he agreed.”

“Why do you think Lawn was attacked?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then why did you easily agree not to call the police?”

“I loved him and I didn’t want to go against his wishes.”

Luke pulled out a picture of Tim, “Do you recognize him?”

“No.”

Luke pulled out another picture of Tony, “What about him?”

“Never seen him.”

After the interrogation was over, Luke and the others left the interrogation room and happened to run into Ramon and Jenny in the hallway.

Both sides checked their statements and were in general agreement.

In terms of credibility, Sophia had made up this excuse badly.

However, suspicion of a crime is not a crime, and without tangible evidence, the police could only choose to believe her.

If what Sophia said was true, it was indeed Lawn who did not agree to call the police.

Then Lawn’s actions were suspicious and intriguing.

At ten o’clock in the evening, Luke finally got off work.

A red convertible pulled up underneath the detective’s building.

Luke got into the passenger side and laughed, “You know what? I’ve always had a dream of a beautiful woman in a luxury car picking me up from work, and today it finally came true.”

Daisy started the car and asked rhetorically, “So how are you going to repay me?”

“How about a favor in return?”

“I’ll think about it.” Daisy smiled.

Luke yawned, “What do you want with me this late?”

“Uh ……” Daisy looked torn and worried, “I don’t know what to say.”

“Daisy, whatever it is, I’m here for you, tell me.”

“Ever since I found the cameras in my house, I’ve been a little afraid to come home alone at night.

Two floors, several rooms, the house is pitch black ……” Daisy pulled over to the curb, her eyes reddening, “I’m not a coward, but …… I’ve always felt like someone’s watching me, the I’m afraid there’s someone in the house ……”

Luke grabbed her hand, “I can understand that, normal people have that reaction. I’ll walk you home.”

“Thanks. But you have a job too, you can’t be with me every day.”

“What do you think?”

“Do you know any reliable detectives or bodyguards that I’d like to hire for a while, that might be good.”

“Hire how? Would you hire them to pick you up from work at night or provide security at night, and what would be the approximate budget?”

Daisy thought for a moment, “I don’t know much about it, that’s why I asked for your help, what do you think would be good?”

Luke said, “Detectives are an industry that I know a bit about, mixed and complicated, I don’t recommend you hire them.

Bodyguards, I don’t have much contact with them. If you want to find one, it’s best to find a bigger bodyguard company, it’s a bit more secure.”

Luke didn’t have a hair-trigger.

He didn’t mind moving to Daisy’s house, the proximity to the water is the first thing to get the moon, but this kind of thing has to be tactical, rushing is not a good thing.
