A+ A- Turn Off Light

Captain, that’s the question I was hoping you’d ask! Klein nodded seriously:

”I feel better, I even think I can pass the Sanctuary’s examination right now, it’s an experience and confidence that can’t be described in words.”

Thinking that his answer just now might be slightly vague, he couldn’t help but add another sentence:

”Maybe the name of the magic potion is really the key, when I strictly follow the ‘Diviner’s Code’ that I summarized to be a Diviner, everything becomes beautiful and easy, well, I’ve been able to turn on my auric vision in a more covert way.”

Dunn’s brow furrowed slightly and his eyes narrowed inward, as if in thought he said to himself, “The name of the magic potion ……”

After a dozen seconds or so, he looked back up at Klein and said:

”Do you need to go back and tell your family? Sunday was your second day since manning the Charnis Gate, you were supposed to get a break.”

Considering that Elizabeth was a close friend of her sister’s and had promised herself that the problem would be solved within a week, Crane replied without difficulty, “There’s no need to waste time like that, just have the carriage make a loop through Daffodil Street when it departs.”

”Okay, you go find Frye and I’ll fill out the application to pick up the seal ‘3-0782’.” Dunn pointed to the rest room diagonally across the street.

Fry was a “corpse collector”, not as energetic as the “Sleepless One”, if he had time, he would often take a nap.

Fill out the application form yourself, sign it yourself, and collect it yourself …… Captain, we have a loophole in this management system …… Klein slurred a couple of sentences, did not say anything, took his hat, exited Dunn’s office, and knocked on the door diagonally across the room.

After the sound of knocking was repeated three times, Frye pulled the door open and looked at Klein with hard to hide confusion:

  ”Can I help you?”

Because he had just been napping, his hair was a bit disheveled, his shirt was not too neatly dressed, and his cold and gloomy aura was immediately washed away.

However, however, it was still like a dead man …… who had just crawled out of a coffin Klein hid his smile and answered very seriously:

”There is a case that involves a disgruntled spirit, and the captain would like to have your help.”

”Okay.” Fry subconsciously raised his hand, smoothing out the mess in his hair, and resumed his role as the grim one whom the living do not approach.

By the time he had finished dressing, the two men had been sitting in the couch area of the reception hall for only seven or eight minutes before they felt their surroundings become warm and pure, as if they were receiving the holy light of the sun.

Immediately afterward, they saw Dunn Smith walk out of the partition, holding an ancient badge half the size of his palm.

This badge has a dark gold color, on which the symbol of the sun is engraved, with section after section of lines extending to the edge, it is the seal from the Republic of Intis, “3-0782”, formerly known as the “Mutated Sun Emblem”.

–Intis is the country that Rossel changed from an empire to a republic and back to an empire again, and now it has established a solid republican system. It is located on the west coast of the North Continent, and is bounded by the Rune Kingdom by the Sea and the Hornachis Mountains.

Because the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun had dominated since the founding of Intis, suppressing the Church of the God of Craftsmen until the other side changed its name to the Church of the God of Steam and Mechanics, the country was also known as the Land of the Sun.

”Let’s set off, Fry you’re in charge of driving, Sizzle can’t withstand the Holy Emblem Purification for that long.” Dunn commanded calmly.

Sizer Francis was the clerical staff in charge of purchasing and requisitioning supplies, as well as moonlighting as a carriage driver, but he was an ordinary person and couldn’t stay within fifteen meters of the seal “3-0782” for more than an hour, and from Klein’s understanding, it would take at least two and a half hours to get from Zortland Street to Ramsdale Town, and that didn’t even include the trip to Daffodil Street in a circle.

”Okay.” Frye didn’t push, just checked his carry-on once again for any missing items.

  ……

As the sun’s afterglow colored the spires of the town’s churches in gold, the Night Watchman’s Squad wagon that had made a detour from Daffodil Street finally arrived in Ramde.

Located northwest of Tingen, the town’s many buildings still retained their pre-Steam Age character, few factories existed, and it was the point of commerce for all of the nearby countryside.

After parking the carriage at the corresponding location of the town’s inn, Dunn swept his eyes at the barber store across the street and said:

”I’ve just asked the local residents, it’s only a quarter of an hour’s walk from here to the old abandoned fortress on the hill, it’s said that it belonged to the lords who ruled here at the end of the Quaternary period, but then, I don’t know what happened to it and it turned into what it is now, but of course, all of their descriptions can only be attributed to folklore.”

”Well, let’s go over there now, settle that grudge before nightfall, and then take turns guarding ‘3-0782’ to keep it away from ordinary people?”

From the time Dunn got the “Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem” until now, a full three hours had passed, and it was getting closer and closer to the limit of extraordinary people, and it wouldn’t be long before they would have to separate to give each other time to recover.

  ”Okay.” Fry replied briefly.

”I have no problem with that.” Klein quietly touched the “Sleeping Charm” and “Soul Resting Charm” in his pocket.

The three night watchmen, dressed in thin black trench coats and bowler or felt hats of the same color, walked through the streets of the town and took the turnoff towards the nearby hill, overgrown with weeds and bushes along the way, but the road was quite wide, almost wide enough for two wagons to run parallel.

It wasn’t long before they saw an old fortress with collapsed outer walls, and saw that the still-standing outer walls were covered with green plants crawling on top of them, while the bare areas were more than a little patchy.

Before they even got close to the place, Klein felt a piercing chill, and his arms ruffled with goosebumps.

”There are indeed disgruntled souls.” Fry said with little rise or fall in his tone as he looked over the old castle.

Dunn gave a certain newly minted night watchman a sideways glance and smirked:

”Don’t worry, with ‘3-0782’ and Frye, the disgruntled souls won’t be too much of a nuisance.”

Holding a special revolver in one hand and a mutated Sun Holy Emblem in the other, he took the first step and walked towards the ruined old castle.

Klein followed close behind, always ready to pull the trigger or smash out his cane and use the charm.

  Whoops!

Dunn was less than five meters away from the old castle, and as things such as the crumbling stables and wells were reflected in Klein’s eyes, a ghastly wind that could be described as harrowing blew out, as if rejecting the presence of uninvited guests.

The three night watchmen did not stop and continued on their way, the warmth and purity gradually dispelling the gloom and taking over the front of the old castle.

They stepped over the stacked stones through the collapsed outer wall and eased into the old castle that had lost its gate, stepping on top of the broken floor tiles.

The halls of the fallen stone pillars and mossy old fortress were quite wide, but the windows were narrow and situated high up, making light a difficult task and leaving the place dim and gloomy.

This is also a characteristic of ancient buildings at the end of the Quaternary and the beginning of the Fifth …… Pseudohistorian Klein instinctively made a judgment and covertly opened his psychic vision.

Just then, an illusory but piercing roar erupted, and a thick black fog steeply filled the air from nowhere, fighting against the encroaching warmth and purity.

A tall figure soon emerged from that black fog, wearing black full body armor and carrying a broadsword that would be difficult for a normal person to wield.

This spiteful spirit was identical to the one Klein had seen in Elizabeth’s dream, two flaming red lights pierced through the gaps in his face armor and stared coldly but angrily at the three night watchmen.

”You have disturbed my slumber! It must be paid for in blood and flesh!” He took a sudden step and was close to Dunn in a flash, his broadsword slashing heavily downward in his hand.

Dunn nimbly stepped back early, banging his hand up to fire a shot.

  When!

The silver Demon Hunter bullet actually failed to penetrate the illusory black armor, hitting it with a crisp but not real enough sound.

Klein and Fry backed away to the side at the same time, one holding the gun with one hand, aiming at the two flames at the black-armored knight’s eye position and pulling the trigger, while the other one’s eyes turned a deep, serene gray and white, intently surveying the disgruntled spirit.

The black-armored knight roared again, striding after Dunn and sweeping out his broadsword.

  Bang!

The broadsword failed to decapitate Dunn, but sent him flying, hitting the door hard and spitting blood from his mouth.

With a bang, “3-0782” landed on the ground, and the right foot of the resentful spirit wearing iron boots couldn’t wait to kick it over, kicking this dangerous badge that kept purifying the things around it out of the door of the ancient castle, and kicking it out of its own fifteen-meter range.

Klein, who had just missed with that shot, saw this and was worried and nervous and felt strange, as if it was itself scrutinizing the changes in front of it with an overlooking, calm, and rational stance.

  Bang!

He fired another shot, the silver hunter’s bullet striking locally above the grudge’s faceplate, sending sparks flying but causing no visible damage.

”Right glove!” Just then, the always cold and gloomy Fry shouted out, his tone filled with anxiety.

Before the words fell, he himself raised his revolver and aimed at the gauntlet on the right side of the resentful spirit.

Bang! Bang! Almost subconsciously following Fry’s words, Klein pulled the trigger and fired the silver Demon Hunter bullets at the same time as his opponent in no particular order.

This time, the Spiteful Soul didn’t use his armor to block it hard, instead, he was prepared and put up his broadsword, easily grating the two bullets away.

Snap! With a single stride, he ran towards Klein at charging speed and crashed directly into his body.

Klein flew backwards, seeing that his chest was dented, seeing that he was spitting blood, but there was no hard feeling at all.

He snapped out of it and fell to the ground, rolling and screaming.

Suddenly, the old castle, the grumbling souls, the collapsed pillars, and the moss all over the ground eerily shattered, and everything went back to the time when the black fog was filling the air and the black-armored knight had just surfaced.

The only difference was that Dunn’s fists were clenched, his body half bowed down, and his gray eyes became dark and deep.

Sure enough, everything before was a dream, and the captain pulled the resentful spirit, me, and Fry into his dream at the same time, but I am more special and can stay awake and sane …… Klein found that he was still standing two meters to Dunn s right hand, and did not spit out blood, nor did he scream.

Just at this time, Dunn straightened up his body, looked at the resentful spirit that was about to slash, and calmly opened his mouth:

  ”More than a minute.”

The spirit froze for a moment, then let out a mournful scream, and its body began to continuously vaporize black mist, as if it had received a death declaration.

Dead corpses and ghosts that were less than the level of evil spirits could not exist for more than a minute within fifteen meters of the “Mutated Sun Holy Emblem”!

Damn, Captain, you’re so handsome! Klein almost shouted 666 as he watched the scene.

Dunn used his dream ability not to kill the ghosts with his home field advantage, but simply to stall for time!

In the warm and pure feeling, the black mist evaporated quickly, and the gloom gradually disappeared, and before long, the Grudge Knight wearing full body armor and dragging a huge broadsword was completely transparent and merged into the void.

  When!

A black iron glove fell to the ground, with some white frost condensing on its surface.

Klein was about to ask his captain if he should pick up the “dropped item”, but as he glanced at it, inspiration struck him.

The steps separating the hall from the dining room of the castle seemed to call to him with a strong and illusory pain and filth!
