A+ A- Turn Off Light

  ”Prayer?”

Klein’s spirit lifted, and following the method of the last time he spied on the “inverted man”, he let his spirituality spread and touched the crimson color.

A blurry and distorted image immediately appeared before his eyes, and he could only vaguely see a brownish-yellow haired teenager with his knees on the ground, facing a pristine crystal ball.

The teenager was wearing tight black clothing that was very different from the fashion trends in the Kingdom of Rune, and also differed greatly from the traditional clothing of foreign countries such as the Forsak Empire and the Republic of Intis, which Klein had seen in magazines.

His surroundings were dim, with outdated tables and chairs that were occasionally illuminated by the first glimpses of light, but Klein couldn’t hear the sound of thunder roaring or rain dripping.

In the picture, the teenager, with his hands clasped against his forehead and his body bowed forward, was constantly praying for something, and his thick voice buzzed around Klein’s ears.

Klein listened intently, but realized a fact that embarrassed him:

He couldn’t understand what the other party was saying, it was a language he had never touched before!

…… As the mysterious master of the gray fog, I can’t believe I don’t understand a “foreign language”…… Klein laughed to himself, unwillingly and carefully discerned for a while, more serious than when the English listening test! The first time I heard this, I was more serious than when I was listening to the English test.

Listening, he gradually realized a problem:

The other party’s language, although not belonging to any of the ones he had learned, was very close to the ancient Forsak language, with signs of analogies!

”The words father …… mother …… should mean this, right? It’s very similar to Guversac, but somehow different …… “Klein frowned, lost in thought, “Guversac was the lingua franca of Quaternary mankind, the source of all contemporary languages, and it’s itself changing gradually …… There’s no way for me to be sure at all right now ……”

He listened and listened, ruling out contemporary languages such as Ruen, Fossak and Intis in terms of grammatical construction and so on.

”Is it a variant of the ancient Forsak language over its long history? Like the script written in that Antigonus family notebook?” Klein tapped his fingers on the edge of the long bronze table in quick succession, nodding his head imperceptibly, “There’s another possibility, ancient Forsak didn’t arise out of thin air either, it was derived from the Giant language …… The Forsak Empire to the north has always claimed that its citizens have Giant bloodlines… …which may have been the Giant language in ancient times ……”

At this point, Klein, who didn’t have enough knowledge reserves, had to pause, pulling his spirituality back, no longer watching, no longer listening.

He had no intention of pulling the praying teenager above the gray mist right away, and was prepared to figure out what the other was saying first.

Of course, before doing so, he would often observe and do the basic “test”.

Phew…… Klein exhaled and leaned back in the grand gray mist temple.

He wrapped himself in spirituality, simulating the sensation of falling.

  ……

After “reviewing” Roselle’s diary, Klein changed into formal attire and headed out the door to the Divination Club.

Having doubled his salary, he still chose to ride in the public carriage, but had the luxury of taking care of Mrs. Wendy’s business, spending 1.5 pence on a sweet iced tea to beat the afternoon heat.

When he reached the Howells neighborhood, Klein dropped the paper cup into the trash can and arrived at the second floor step by step.

Before entering, he pinched his brow and turned on his psychic vision in advance.

Just stepping into the reception hall, Klein immediately felt a faint sadness overflowing here.

The beautiful receptionist Anjelica sat there with a lax gaze and vaguely reddened eyes.

”Sorrow will always pass.” Klein came in front of Angelica and spoke gently and calmly.

Angelica snapped her head up and murmured in a slightly bewildered manner:

  ”Mr. Moretti …….”

Quickly, she came to her senses and asked in surprise:

”You, you know about Mr. Vincente?”

”Ah yes, I forgot that you are an accomplished soothsayer.”

  Klein matched the sigh:

”I can only divine the vagueness of the situation …… What exactly happened to Mr. Vansant?”

”The boss told us that Mr. Vansant suffered a heart attack in his sleep and passed away peacefully.” Angelica brought on a few sobs as she spoke, “He was a kind, polite, true gentleman, he was a spiritual mentor to many of the members, and he, he was still so young ……”

”I’m sorry to make you sadder.” Without much consolation, Klein walked slowly towards the conference room.

Angelica took out her handkerchief and wiped her eyes and nose, then looked at Klein’s back and drew up her voice:

”Mr. Moretti, what would you like to drink?”

”Black tea.” Klein preferred this to coffee, though it didn’t feel like much either.

Comparatively speaking, he preferred ginger beer and sweet iced tea, except that as a gentleman, formal occasions shouldn’t be like a child ……

Because of Monday, there were only five or six members in the meeting room, and in Klein’s psychic vision, their moods were each a different color, some genuinely sad, some really slightly bleak, and some barely affected.

”All normal …… normal reactions.” Klein nodded slightly, taking his cane and finding a random spot.

He was about to turn off his psychic vision in passing when he suddenly saw Angelica enter and walk towards him.

”Mr. Moretti, you have a customer for you, well, the one from last time.” The pretty lady lowered her voice.

”You remember him?” Klein asked rhetorically with a smile.

Well, I wonder if that gentleman bought the magical potion following my tips …… I wonder if he still needs surgery ……

  Angelica pursed her lips:

”He’s the only one of the fortune seekers willing to wait an afternoon at the club.”

Klein gripped his cane and stood up, walking outside without saying anything.

In the reception hall, he saw the gentleman who had come for his last divination, and also saw that the color of the other man’s liver aura had returned to normal, as had his overall coordination.

”Congratulations, health tastes so good.” Klein smiled and reached out.

Bogda froze at first, then simultaneously reached out and firmly grasped Klein’s right palm:

”Mr. Moretti, you really can ‘see’ my condition!”

”Yes, I’m healed! The doctors have questioned and examined me over and over again, and still can’t believe I’m just cured!”

Listening to Bogda’s ecstatic statement, Klein calmly determined one thing:

That pharmacist at the Rosen Folk Herb Shop was absolutely extraordinary!

How serious the gentleman in front of him’s liver disease was, that was something he had seen with his own eyes, and the fact that he could be cured within a few days was beyond the realm of the power of herbs and healing arts, the only thing that could explain it was extraordinary!

Add to that the matter of Gracias, and there was only one answer left.

”I want to confess to the gods that I doubted you, that miraculous medicine man.” Bogda held Klein’s hand and refused to let go, rambling on and on about shame and gratitude, “…… That ten pounds was well spent, it bought back my life!”

What, ten pounds? You spent 10 pounds for a magical potion? And the divination you gave me only cost 8p …… only 8p ……8p ……p ……p …… Klein nearly froze at the sound of it.

At that moment, Borgata unclasped his hands, smiled broadly, stepped back, and bowed respectfully:

”I have come today to express my gratitude to you, Master Moretti, for showing me the way and saving my life.”

”This is the result of the divination you paid for, there is no need to thank anyone.” Klein, raising his head slightly and staring somberly at the line where the wall meets the ceiling, replied with the deus ex machina demeanor.

”You are a true diviner.” Borgata exclaimed, “I’ll have to go to Vlad Street next to thank the apothecary and purchase the kind of potion he recommended.”

”Aren’t you cured?” Klein hid his surprise well.

Borgata looked around and saw that the pretty receptionist lady wasn’t paying attention to this side of the room, so she smiled lowly:

”That’s the herb with mummy powder added to it, which can be boiled down to make a potion that satisfies both men and women …… I didn’t trust that pharmacist before, but now I don’t doubt it at all.”

…… There is such a potion? For a moment Klein actually thought that the apothecary was a liar, and wondered if he had not pushed the gentleman opposite him into the fire.

He examined Borgata up and down a few times to make sure there was nothing wrong with the color of the other man’s aura.

”Mummy powder?” Klein asked rhetorically, cautiously grasping at a word.

”Yes, mummy powder, I’ve asked a friend about it, and he says the nobles of Berkland have been chasing the stuff like crazy. This powder ground from mummies allows men to give the perfect performance in bed, and although it’s disgusting and sounds dirty, it’s real noble material ……,” Borgata explained in detail, his eyes filled with urgency.

Mummies? Mummified from a corpse? Powder ground from it? Klein’s jaw dropped as he listened, almost spitting on Bogda on the spot.

Those nobles will play …… He was about to dissuade the other party when Grassis, who had previously suffered from a lung disease, happened to enter and heard Bogda’s later description.

”Yes, it’s very effective, I recommend you go to ‘Rosen’s Folk Herbalist’ on Vlad Street, Mr. Rosen’s secret formula is very effective!” Gracies removed his monocle and leaned in rather interestedly, lowering his voice in recommendation, “My experience was very, very, very perfect.”

”And you know it? I was on my way to Mr. Rosen’s Folk Herb Shop.” Borgata was thoroughly relieved.

After a few more pleasantries, he couldn’t wait to leave the Divination Club.

And Klein had been left with a slight stupor.

By the time 5:20 p.m. rolled around, he put on his half-height silk bowler hat, grabbed his silver-encrusted black cane, and rode straight to Vlad Street, intending to first covertly observe the apothecary named Rawson Duckweed and then decide whether or not to report the captain.

  ……

  18 Vlad Street.

Crane stood outside the herbalist’s store and saw the door closed and a transfer notice posted.

”…… Very alert ……” he whispered silently.

This way, he didn’t need to be embarrassed or watchful.
