Part 2 The Faceless Man Chapter 175 – Exploring the Dream Realm
”What?” Old Kohler asked without hearing clearly.
Klein eyed the somewhat potholed road ahead and gave a self-deprecating chortle:
”Nothing.
”I hope Liv’s family can get out of their current situation and live better and better.”
He did feel something just now, as the successor of the new era of the Big Eater Empire, thinking of revolution, thinking of mobilizing the masses, thinking of changing the sky and the earth, was an instinctive reaction that was more than normal, but when he thought about it carefully and analyzed the specific problems, he felt that the poor alone could not save themselves, because transcendent powers existed in this world and some of them were quite bizarre, and they couldn’t be solved by guns and cannons, just as the “Fae” path of the sequence 5 “ghosts”.
This is on the one hand, on the other hand is limited by the law of conservation of extraordinary properties, limited by the acquisition of materials, transcendent power can not be popularized, it is difficult to convert the advantage of the number of people into effective combat power, and even if it can be popularized, as long as the problem of loss of control is not solved, it will also bring about the same disaster.
If there were no high sequence powerhouses, all of this would actually have a way to solve it to a certain extent, however, the real world not only has demigods and half-humans, but also has all sorts of seals that make people die without knowing how to die, and furthermore, the gods are true and real, and they are above the world.
In this way, the poor people with strikes and marches and other means of resistance, there will not be too big a problem, but once you take up arms and establish an army, you are bound to encounter a counterattack that is difficult to resist, and large-scale natural disasters large-scale psychological implication is not impossible to appear.
And can fight with the official extraordinary institutions are mostly hidden organizations, often with their own evil attributes, and with them, death may not be the most tragic end, so, take the road of revolution, in order to be successful, the most promising way is to win the support of a certain church or several churches.
How many concessions can the vested interests make by strikes and marches alone? It would be relatively easy to buy them off. …… But the last time the “Real Creator” almost came to Birkeland through the miserable situation of the poor, the Church of the Goddess and the informed aristocrats seem to have been touched a little, from the investigative mission that Mike reporter accepted and the “Justice” lady. This can be seen from the investigative mission that reporter Mike received and the feedback from Ms. “Justice” …… Klein was rambling on about the Eastern District, the docklands and the factory district.
At the end of the day, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh and sighed in his heart:
”Come to think of it, it’s still with the threat of the Evil God’s descent that we’re most likely to get an improvement in the situation for the poor people.
”But the Evil God is also the existence that can’t wait to draw on their flesh and blood and devour their souls, and is most likely to bring about a disaster that no one can escape from.
”And that’s a wonderful irony.”
……
Queens, inside Count Hall’s luxurious villa.
Because Dr. Yslante had another matter to attend to afterward, Audrey was up early for her second psychology class of the week.
Susie was even more excited than her and rushed into the study early, even throwing aside the orb game she usually loved to play.
During this class, Audrey deliberately showed her own curiosity, and from time to time, she inquired about the psychological knowledge related to the mystical realm that Yslante had taught last time.
At the closing stage of the lesson, Yslante finally spoke with discretion:
”Miss Audrey, we have organized a seminar in this area, and many of the members have more specialized research on the intersection of psychology and occultism, would you be interested in joining?”
”Of course!” Audrey nodded her head in reply without hesitation, perfectly fitting her intended persona of a naive and curious young girl.
Yslante broke into a smile:
”Remember to keep it a secret, you know, your elders are quite prejudiced against the occult, so I’ll take you there when we have our next class.”
”No problem.” Audrey replied in the affirmative with slight excitement.
After escorting the long-haired, waist-length Ethranth out of the study, she closed the door and faced the mirror next to the bookcase for a couple seconds of civilized silence.
Then, she lifted the hem of her skirt, stepped and did a twirl in a court dance, then looked at herself in the mirror and smiled sweetly and said:
”Audrey, you’re awesome!”
Audrey knew that she had taken the first step into the Mental Alchemy Society, and although the seminar was mostly just an outer circle, and there were definitely quite a few more tests to follow, it did allow her to push open the door to the Mental Alchemy Society.
And she was very proud and honored to have perfectly concealed herself from the Ethereal psychiatrist in the process, without the use of outside forces, all based on her own observations and performances.
”That seminar sounds interesting.” Susie came over and wagged her tail, “Audrey, can I join?”
Join? Looking at her beloved dog, who was covered in blonde fur and had thieving round eyes, Audrey was instantly in deep thought.
She gave a long “hmm”:
”Susie, not for now, you, you’re too conspicuous ……”
Speaking here, she turned her words around and laughed lightly:
”But I can take you with me.”
……
On Saturday night, Klein grabbed his “master key” and his black cane and walked out of 15 Minsk Street – without the latter, he didn’t think he’d make it back today.
He was going to “find” Dr. Allen, enter his dreams, and find out how the nightmares related to Will Ensign came about.
As for where Dr. Allen lived, he had already found out yesterday: 3 Burningham Road, Hillside.
By the time Klein arrived there, it was past eleven o’clock, and the surrounding neighborhood was dimly lit and dimly quiet.
After flipping a coin and doing a divination, Klein went through the iron fence outside, circled around to the side, opened an invisible passage in the wall with the “master key”, and entered the corridor, which was already darkened and illuminated.
With his quick steps, he made his way silently to the second floor and hid in an unoccupied guest room.
Only after confirming that Dr. Allen and his wife were asleep did Klein penetrate the wall and enter their bedroom.
The first thing he did was to take out the “Sleeping Charm” and whispered the opening incantation, so that Dr. Allen’s wife would fall into a real deep sleep, and would not suddenly wake up and disturb her husband’s subsequent dreaming.
Then Klein sat down in a chair in front of the dresser, held the Dreaming Charm in his hand, and whispered an ancient Hermetic word:
”Crimson!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt the spell in his palm become light and airy, as if it had become a weightless illusion.
With the infusion of spirituality, transparent flames wrapped around the sigil, burning a deep, serene black.
Driven by Klein’s will, this black color spread out, enveloping Dr. Allen and himself as well.
Flying into a meditative state Klein saw the infinite deep blackness, saw the lonely oval orb of light.
His spirituality extended past it and touched the illusory haze.
The world around him turned upside down and twisted back, and Klein was unknowingly in a barren plain, with dark rocks under his feet and not even a single weed.
In the center of the plain loomed a black spire with a huge silver-white serpent coiled around it, its head already erect, its bright red eyes gazing icily in this direction.
Unlike Dr. Allen’s description, this huge silver-white snake had no substantial scales, and its body was densely packed with patterns and symbols, which formed a single rotating wheel connected to each other, and each rotating wheel was surrounded by a different logo.
The spinning wheels of the giant snake’s tail and head were each only half, which looked rather incongruous and seemed to be able to force an obsessive-compulsive person to die, but Klein imagined that if the giant silver-white snake could bite its own tail with its mouth, the spinning wheels would be complete, and everything would become complete, with no more cripples and no more changes.
Beside Klein, Dr. Allen stared blankly ahead, approaching the pitch-black spire step by step.
It can be confirmed that no one guided Dr. Allen …… to rule out the “nightmare” type of extraordinary ability …… Klein quickly made a judgment.
He did not try to stop Dr. Allen, followed his side, toward the black spire toward the silver and white serpent.
The two of them had only taken a few steps before their target was already in front of them, and the giant silver-white snake poked down its upper body, seemingly pondering how to enjoy the dessert that had been brought to its mouth.
Its mouth was wide open, but there was no fishy odor coming out, its red eyes were cold and merciless, looking at everything as if it was prey, but without the slightest hint of killing and cruelty.
In front of it, it seems that anything is small, and because of small and equal.
The giant snake did not attack in the end, and Klein followed Dr. Allen through an old and decayed wooden door and into the interior of the dark tower.
As Allen had recounted earlier, the layout was unusually confusing, with steps circling up and then angling down, and halls, libraries, and individual rooms that were either normal, inverted, or set into other parts of the building that couldn’t possibly exist in the real world.
Passing through a door and through a wall, Klein no longer knew where in the black tower he had reached, perhaps the spire or the basement.
In the thick darkness, he suddenly noticed a figure huddled in the corner in front of him.
The figure sensed Dr. Allen approaching and was busy bracing himself to stand up, hopping closer on one leg.
It wasn’t until the silhouette was close at hand that Klein got a good look at him, a tiger’s head, in his early teens, full of childishness, with an obvious look of fear.
This silhouette was about one meter four in height, his left calf was empty, just like the child Will Onsettin who had undergone surgery.
He held a deck of tarot cards in his hand, and in his dark, ink-like eyes were emotions of surprise and joy, fear and trepidation:
”Dr. Allen, there are snakes trying to eat me!”
Suddenly, he screamed miserably as the huge, mysterious, silver serpent was reflected within his eyes.
Whoa!
The tarot cards in his hand fell to the ground, leaving only one held tightly in his palm.
Klein gazed at the card and realized that it also had a spinning wheel on it.
It was the “Wheel of Fortune” card.
Wow!
The dream shattered instantly, and Klein found himself still sitting in the chair in front of the dresser.
