Part 2 the faceless man chapter 187 the growth of the “novice”
Inside the dark, solid room, Derek Berg, pretending to be unconscious, rolled over and stood up.
His Hurricane Axe had been taken away and sent for inspection, and the pockets of his clothing had been emptied, leaving nothing behind.
Derek took a breath and looked around the room steadily.
Two small sun-like rays lit up in his eyes in a sudden flash, causing everything in the room to be reflected in his eyes one by one.
The only furnishings here were a table and two chairs, other than that, it was the stone floor with strange patterns.
On top of the table was a half-used candle, which belonged to the standard configuration of every room in Silver City, because once it was dark for a long time, monsters could really appear out of nowhere.
Without further hesitation, Derek sat down and reached for the half candle.
Immediately afterward, he broke and tugged, splitting the candle into three sections, one section taking up three quarters of the original, and two sections sharing the remaining quarter.
After Derek’s adjustments, the wicks of all three sections of the candle protruded.
Snap!
With a rub of his fingers, he created a golden flame and lit those three candles.
The two at the top represented Mr. Fool, and the remaining one symbolized Derek himself.
After making the preparations, Derek didn’t follow the normal process of burning the powdered herbs and dropping in the essential oils of the potion, he just leaned back, chanted the name of Mr. Fool in a very low voice, and quickly entered into a meditative state.
He chanted it over and over again, monotonously and repetitively, as if hypnotizing himself.
With the help of meditation, Derek entered a strange state of mental slumber and spiritual dispersion, where the whole person was at the same time muddled, but at the same time maintained a strange lucidity, and the spirit continued to float upward, higher and higher.
This is exactly “artificial sleepwalking”.
With Mr. Fool’s permission, Derek was able to simplify some of the non-essential steps.
……
Above the gray mist, inside the majestic old palace, Derek was playing with the “All Black”.
Playing with the “all-black eye”, “Fool” Klein suddenly saw the crimson star symbolizing the small “sun” expanding its light and coalescing into a human figure, and the power of the mysterious space was then The power of the mysterious space was then pried a little.
He was relieved to see this, because it meant that the little “sun” had already completed the relatively more dangerous preliminaries, and only the final “finishing touches” remained.
Kraven did not delay, immediately put down the “black eye”, picked up the “black emperor” card.
His level, his position, instantly became higher, so that the gray fog above the prying power one by one submissive.
Then, he grabbed a paper figure, flicked his wrist, and threw it out, toward the crimson star corresponding to the “sun”.
The paper figure intersected with the power flowing like water, and quickly swelled into a huge angel with twelve pairs of twenty-four pitch-black wings.
The “angel” pierced through the crimson light and overlapped with the shadow of the small “sun”.
It burned without a sound and was reduced to ashes in less than a second.
At this point, Klein was no longer able to influence the situation in Silver City, and as to whether his “angelic double” could help the little “sun” successfully pass the next inquiry and probing, he was not absolutely sure, and could only let out a sigh in his heart:
”After doing the things that should be done, after the efforts that should be done, can only wait for the arrangement of fate, I hope it is a good result …….”
……
In a daze, Derek saw an angel descend in front of him with an aura that covered the sky, and wrapped himself in twelve pairs of dark wings.
He came to his senses with a start, and in his eyes were three candle flames burning quietly.
After thanking Mr. Fool from the bottom of his heart, Derek ended the ceremony by extinguishing the two candles, which only made up a quarter of the original.
Then he plucked them up and created a golden, clear flame in his palm.
Tick tock, tick tock, the two candles melted, and the “tears” continued to fall, either onto the body of the remaining one, or around it.
With the wicks completely burned out, there was only one candle left on the table, which was a little shorter than the original, but it wasn’t very noticeable, and seemed to have burned just a little longer.
Disposing of the remaining traces, Derek extinguished the last of the dim candle flame.
He sat up in silence, staring blankly ahead for a long time.
He was worried that the “Council of Six” would not react fast enough, allowing those members of the exploration team to contaminate more residents of Silver City with “mushrooms” and “Dum Fruit”;
He was afraid that the Chief and the others would find another clue in the rest of the world, making his preparations futile;
He hated those “outsiders” who hid in the depths of the darkness, always carrying strong malice, including Amon, including the “Fallen Creator”;
He felt guilty that he had avoided the quest, but had not warned Dak and the others, turning them into tainted monsters;
His pain at having personally gotten rid of a classmate he called a friend.
– Although Derek hadn’t seen what ultimately happened to Dak, he believed that alienating the other into that form had equaled death.
With mixed and confused emotions, Derek didn’t know how long he waited and relit the candle halfway through.
Finally, he heard the seal being lifted and the door to the room being opened.
Craning his head to look, he saw, with the help of the dim candlelight, a black-skirted woman with her hair tied in a long braid that hung down to her undershirt walk in.
”Ms. Avro.” Derek subconsciously called out.
Avello, who had a clean look but already had a few wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, smiled and nodded in response to Derek, and then sat down across the table with light steps.
”Is there anything you want to say?” She asked softly.
Derek instinctively looked up and over, suddenly realizing that the other woman’s eyes had somehow turned into pale golden vertical pupils.
Thoughts momentarily drifted off, and Derek seemed to enter a sleepwalking state.
Avello adjusted the candle flame so that the dim color was thoroughly reflected on the opposite teenager’s face.
Her pale golden vertical pupils grew more and more indifferent, like an emotionless spectator.
Suddenly, there were circles and circles of faint luster phantoms within that pale golden vertical pupil, seemingly forming a vortex and building a labyrinth.
Muddled, Derek felt himself floating, in an infinite darkness and a myriad of vivid colors.
It was then that he snapped awake, only to realize that that sleepwalking state had been subtly picked up by something.
He saw the inexplicable flickering of a dim candle-flame, and he saw Avro, sitting across from him, his eyes pale gold and erect.
In the shadows of the corner stepped the gray-haired “chief” of the elders, Colin Iliad.
After nodding to the “Chief”, Avro softly asked Derek:
”What have you done in the meantime?”
Derek kept his mind on the teachings and stayed in the same state he was in earlier:
”I don’t know, I’ve been in a daze, like I’m dreaming, only occasionally awake ……”
As he answered, two complex dark green symbols stood out in the eyes of Colin “The Demon Hunter”.
Avro continued to ask:
”Did you know you had a run-in with Dak Riggins?”
”All I remember is that he and I were fighting …… I think I saw a man hanging upside down from a cross, saw a man wearing a pointed fedora and crystal glasses, yes, I saw him in the dungeon …… He had opened his mouth to speak , smiled and opened his mouth to speak ……” Derek recounted the long made up story.
Avro looked at the “Chief” and asked after him:
”What did he say?”
”I can’t remember much, only a little …… He laughed and said, Fallen Creator, True Creator …… Shepherd …… “Derek narrowly failed to contain his inner excitement.
He took such a big risk just to tell the “Chief” about the name “Fallen Creator” and the suspicion of “Shepherd”!
”Fallen Creator …… Real Creator …… fits well with the content of those murals at the bottom of the temple.” Colin nodded softly, frowning and whispering, “Shepherd ……”
”And after that?” Avro’s voice was unusually gentle.
Derek replied, “confused.”
”After that they collided and there was so much light, so much bright light, and I woke up and kept coughing ……”
The dark green symbols in Colin’s eyes never faded, signaling Avro to ask for some details.
Derek answered selectively, telling the ones he’d considered long ago according to the script, and pushing the ones outside the scope to Amon, saying he couldn’t remember.
Finally, Avro asked:
”Where did you get that axe? Where did you get your ‘sun’ pathway magic potion recipe?”
”The axe was bought from an underground trading market, and the man was masked, so I could only tell that the gender was male …… The ‘Sun’ Pathway magic potion formula was bequeathed to me by my parents, and was found in an exploration …… “Derek said without a trace of heart.
These are always there in the doubt, the “inverted man” guessing the question that they will inevitably appear, so let Derek repeatedly rehearsed how to answer.
–Although Silver City’s underground market was semi-public, there were people who tried to hide their identities for various reasons, which provided Derek with the best explanation.
After listening attentively, Avro turned his head sideways and said to “Demon Hunter” Colin:
”He didn’t lie, there’s no way he could have lied, I have the power of the ‘Crown of Glory’.”
Colin nodded and said:
”In such a state, he also showed no signs of evil, depravity, or contamination.”
Discovering these things was the specialty ability of “Demon Hunters”.
As a high sequence profession, the strongest point of “Demon Hunters” was that they could conceal their actions and intentions, making it impossible for targets who could foresee danger to notice.
Therefore, every “Demon Hunter” is the nemesis of “Demons”.
After thinking for a while, Colin got up and left the room, saying to the shadows in the corner outside:
”We’ll let Derek go, and we’ll assume he’s okay.
”But conduct surveillance in the shadows for a while longer, if Amon can get two doppelgangers, it’s possible that he’ll get a third.”
”Yes, Lord Chief.” The shadow responded respectfully.
By the time Derek “came to his senses”, the interrogation room was deserted, leaving only the words that he was free to leave.
With a quiet sigh of relief, he stepped outside, thinking of Mr. Hangman’s advice:
”You can’t relax and be paralyzed by this, the covert observation will surely continue for some time, otherwise your ‘chief’ will be unqualified!”
Well, I can’t even chant the name of Mr. “Fool” these days …… Derek muttered silently to himself as he walked down the winding staircase.
Walking, he suddenly saw a familiar silhouette, that is wearing a purple patterned black robe, looks beautiful and generous “shepherd” elder Luo Weiya.
Luo Weiya’s light gray eyes swept over Derek, and a soft smile appeared on her face.
……
Back in her own room, Luowei Ya walked to the desk with an indifferent expression and spread out a piece of paper made of leather.
She pinched the index finger of her right hand with her left palm and snapped it, ripping the finger off, but the blood didn’t drip down in the slightest, as if it had all been absorbed and gathered on the surface.
Holding the finger, Lovia drew a complex symbol on the paper, which was composed of half of the “Pupil-less Eye”, a symbol of secrecy, and half of the “Twisted Thread”, a symbol of change.
After scrutinizing it carefully, Luowei Ya wrapped the paper around her severed finger, stuffed it into her mouth, bit it with a loud clatter, and then swallowed it.
Her right palm, which only had four fingers left, suddenly had flesh and blood wriggling around the wound and quickly grew into a new, slightly pale index finger.
Lovia lowered her head, looked at her palm, and spat out a word in a small voice:
”Fool?”
