A+ A- Turn Off Light

After exploring the area and finding nothing else Klein returned to the ancient palace supported by the stone pillars.

He sat down to the uppermost head of the long bronze table and half-closed his eyes, examining the growth of his own spirituality in comparison to the number of members he could pull in.

”Counting the previously unburdened, I can roughly pull in four more new members, but there’s no target for now ……” Klein shook his head and muttered to himself, stopping no longer and returning to the real world to get busy with a wonderful dinner.

After cutting the potatoes, blanching the beef, laying down the onions, stir-frying for a while, and sprinkling in sugar, pepper, and other seasonings, Klein poured the prepared hot water into the crockpot, put the lid on, and turned down the flame.

I have to say, the “magician” ability to manipulate the flame is simply a good kitchen helper …… Since I have it, my cooking skills have improved significantly …… If there is no loss of control, no monsters, no search, no evil gods, everyone is out of control, no monsters, no search, no evil gods, and no one will ever be able to get out of control. If there were no out-of-control, no monsters, no searches, no evil gods, and everyone was committed to applying their abilities in such a harmless way, the world would be a peaceful and beautiful place …… Klein sighed, left the kitchen, and entered the living room.

The light from the gas wall sconce was pouring out, and Klein, who was going to flip through a magazine and wait for the right moment to lay down the potatoes and carrots with the right amount of salt, couldn’t help but think about how to play the role of the “Faceless Man”:

”Just after I woke up this morning and my spirituality had completely stabilized, I realized that the ‘Faceless Man’ magic potion in my body, although it showed no signs of digestion, was somehow attuned to me, which is something that the previous ‘Soothsayer’, ‘Joker’, and ‘Magician’ potions have never been seen after taking them ……”

Thinking of this, Klein looked up at the convex belly window, which, because it was dark outside, became like a mirror, faithfully reflecting the image of Sherlock Moriarty with black hair and brown pupils, a beard around his mouth, and gold-rimmed glasses.

  Klein nodded thoughtfully:

”That’s probably because, I’ve been playing Klein Moretti, well …… in a sense, Sherlock Moriarty is just a disguise for Klein, not another person.

”Although there are receiving many memory fragments and possessing some of the original feelings, but in essence, I am still the otherworldly visitor, the Earth keyboard strong Zhou Mingrui.

”In these nearly five months, having experienced too many things, there are times when I would even think that I am Klein Moretti.”

In silence, a single thought flashed through Klein’s mind, giving him quite a bit of clarity.

However, I was always the Zhou Mingrui …… who was wearing the skin of Klein Moretti, and never gave up his intention to go back …… He slowly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the silhouette reflected on the convex belly window had already changed:

That is the eyes deep brown, black hair shorter young man, features nothing distinctive, look still quite gentleman, but the bags under the eyes are obvious, the chin has appeared double layer of the precursor.

This is Zhou Mingrui from Earth.

Long time no see …… Klein sighed darkly, raised his hands, and rubbed his face hole.

By the time he lowered his arms, he had already changed back to the appearance of Sherlock Moriarty.

After so much contemplation and adjustment, he inexplicably felt that there was much less of a barrier between spirituality and magic potion, and there were signs of slow intermingling.

”No wonder ‘Secret Puppet Master’ Rosago’s teacher, or maybe it was a teacher, would say that you can pretend to be anyone, but you can only be yourself …… This should be the ‘Faceless Man ‘ The core code of the playing method, once you forget that, it’s easy to lose yourself in the constant changes and end up becoming a monster.” Klein thought back to the gains he had gotten from the previous psychic and something dawned on him.

He teetered his right leg and leaned back, quickly having an arrangement for the coming period:

”Mapping out and summarizing the specific code of play for the ‘Faceless Man’ ……

”Gather mermaid-related intelligence in the circle of extraordinary people in Birkeland, at the Tarot, in preparation for the sea trip to complete the ritual ……

”Directly or indirectly get the formula of the ‘Sun Goddess’ magic potion and help the little ‘Sun’ to be promoted to Sequence 7, which is qualified to get the way to remove the mental pollution of those who are out of control within the Extraordinary Characteristics.

”But we can’t completely hope on the little ‘sun’, we have to try to collect it ourselves.”

As his mood gradually settled Klein snapped his fingers, causing the fire within the kitchen to diminish a bit more as the smell of beef began to fill the air.

It was at this time that he heard the doorbell being pulled.

  The visitor was Attorney Jürgen.

Even with the light rain and the wet, watery ground, Yürgen was still dressed meticulously, even wearing a vertical stiff collar.

”Can I help you?” Klein and the other party were already quite familiar with each other and asked directly without pleasantries.

Jürgen put away his black umbrella and patted some water droplets on his long double-breasted gown and said:

”Sherlock, I’m leaving Birkeland next week on Monday to vacation with my grandmother in the south, where the warmth and clean air suits her well.”

”That’s a very good thing.” Klein volunteered an inference and asked with a smile, “Are you asking me to briefly adopt Brodie?”

  Jürgen shook his head gravely:

”My grandmother can’t bear to part with Brodie and insists on taking him with her, and I’ve inquired about it, and as long as it’s put into a cage and a full ticket is purchased, he can get on the steam train as well, but one must always be careful to clean the cage and not contaminate the air up there.”

Indeed, the smell inside the third class compartment was enough to overpower the stench of cat poop …… Klein laughed softly:

”Brody shouldn’t be happy to go out, should he?”

”But it’s more reluctant to part with my grandmother.” Jürgen responded.

He clicked his hat and turned:

”I’m here to let you know that if you need to post bail and deal with legal disputes in the meantime, you can call on my colleague, here’s his card, and I’ve already communicated with him that he won’t be leaving Birkeland this year.”

Really professional ah, also specifically considered this issue …… However, I should not need for the time being, I am now the “mechanical heart” informant, normally will not be arrested into the police station … … …Klein smiled his thanks, took the card, and tucked it into his coat pocket.

Jürgen had no thoughts of chatting or entering, and instantly raised his hand:

”I have other clients to visit, Sherlock, see you tomorrow, no, next year.”

”Then I must say in advance, Happy New Year to your family.” Klein smiled and waved.

After watching Attorney Jürgen leave with his umbrella, Klein closed the door to his room and sat back in the living room.

At this moment, there was no other sound in the room except for the flames of the nuisance licking the bottom of the pot in the kitchen, so quiet that Klein could hear the movement of the carriage traveling in the distance.

Slowly he looked around the room and saw the coffee table, the contracts, the cabinets, the pens, the china cups, the dining table, the chairs and the walls.

Retracting his gaze, Klein leaned back against the back of the couch and looked out the window at the darkness and the gas street lamps that glowed densely in the darkness, and sighed in the deep gloom and silence:

  ”It’s a new year. ……”

  ……

The lightning gradually subsided and the darkness became dominant over the land.

Silver City’s exploratory squad finally reached their destination after a not too long but not too short trek and sporadic battles.

With the unreachable light of the animal skin lanterns, Derek Berg saw the almost completely collapsed walls of the city, and the streets that were in shambles but did not even have a single weed.

On both sides of the street, most of the houses were collapsed, and only a few of them were still barely holding on, but their surfaces were all mottled and full of the dust of time.

The white and blue coatings, the spiked architectural structures that were different from those of Silver City, were also grayed out, making it hard to imagine what they had originally looked like.

However, Derek was able to use this to get a glimpse of what the city had once been; it had certainly endured a long period of time, with a considerable number of inhabitants, and had developed a civilization of its own in the deep dark ages.

Humans here took magic potions, repaired buildings, defended the walls, and in groups of five or six or more, explored outward, hunting monsters and searching for the resources necessary for survival.

They would celebrate in the brief moments of stability, they would make sacrifices to the gods, thirsting for answers, and they would give birth to the next generation to keep hope alive.

However, they eventually died out in the darkness, losing all sound, leaving only a ruin.

The ruins were like a giant tomb, burying a civilization that had struggled to survive but had vanished.

”Demon Hunter” Colin looked around, his face somewhat sullen, as if he saw the future of Silver City.

  He pointed ahead:

”The rest of the place has been cleared.

”That temple is in the very center of the city.”

The exploration team spread out slightly, but remained orderly enough not to let down their guard around them.

Passing through ruin after ruin that had been destroyed for who knew how long, and walking through street after street that was quiet enough to make people manic, Derek finally saw a wide, high platform made purely of man-made piles.

On top of the high platform, there was a half-collapsed building, which was unusually similar to the temple in Silver City, both of which had stone pillars holding up the dome and arches creating the doors.

Completely different from the style of the other buildings here, really is a later converted to the “fallen Creator”…… Derek just flashed such a thought, the team’s four lanterns went out at the same time!

Suddenly, the entire exploration team was plunged into pure darkness, no lightning in the sky, no candlelight on the ground, and the sound of human breathing around them seemed to have disappeared all of a sudden.

Derek’s body instantly tightened, only to feel as if some monster in the darkness had stuck out its tongue and was tentatively licking his scalp, but his inspiration told him that nothing had actually appeared.

At this time a childish, helpless, frightened, dry voice rang in his ears.

  It was a child whispering:

”Help me …… help me ……”

Derek was momentarily frozen, not knowing what to do in response, but in an instant, a little bit of shimmering dust appeared in front of his eyes.

Those dusts exploded one after the other, igniting a smudge of silver-white light that illuminated the area around them.

Colin stared at Derek and sank his voice:

  ”What were you thinking?”

Derek instantly came to his senses and shamefully crossed his hands, holding them against his mouth and nose as if in prayer.

A rather bright and clean light instantly swirled from his body, causing the darkness around him to silently recede.

The other members of the team seized the time to re-light the candles.

Because the Demon Hunters had reacted in time, no members of the team had disappeared this time, and no new members had been added.

Colin withdrew his gaze from Derek, looked toward the half-collapsed temple on the high platform, and said solemnly:

”From now on, there can’t be any negligence, raise the alert to the highest level.”
