Part 2 The Faceless Man Chapter 252 Emlyn’s Insistence
After taking a second to make a confirmation, Klein crossed his arms and leaned forward:
”What is it exactly?”
”No, not another word.” Emlyn White shook her head firmly.
Worried about being tempted, Klein didn’t ask any further questions and simply analyzed the matter based on the information the vampire had just revealed:
Related to the “Fool”…… can help Emlyn White to solve the hidden danger …… there is a high risk …… combined with His previous thoughts, it seems to indicate that he intends to perform the appropriate rituals to pray to the “Fool”, that is, me, in order to eliminate the psychological implication, and obtain the long-lost freedom …… But this is no longer Emlyn’s own rituals, it originates from the command of a certain big person. But this is no longer Emlyn’s own ritual, it comes from someone’s command, and with this vampire’s pride, the one who is willing to honor the Great One is most likely a powerful member of the same blood race. …… What is the reason for the Blood Lord to send his descendants to pray to the “Fools”? They have cooperated with the Aurora Society?
The doubtful Klein raised his head, looked at the expectant Emlyn, and gave an inward sigh of relief:
Guess if I’ll answer your prayers?
He deliberated for two seconds, not making a direct suggestion, and turned to him:
”According to statistics, out of a hundred cases of praying to a hidden existence that doesn’t know the situation, thirty cases won’t receive any response, sixty-eight cases will encounter all sorts of horrible things, thus burying their lives, or living is better than dying, and only two cases may succeed and get what they want, but the price they pay for it may not be the price they’re willing to pay.”
As a former keyboard powerhouse, Klein had always believed that when proving something or reinforcing a point, those who only spoke of individual cases and exceptions, without mentioning the overall sample and statistics, were all going rogue and stealing concepts, and usually such cases were accompanied by similar words, such as, I have a friend, a certain girl I know, whoever I’m around.
So, in order to convince Emlyn White, he made up some data by heart.
Of course, it wasn’t completely unfounded, at least many of the dossiers Klein had read while he was in the Night Watchman Squad had illustrated similar cases.
”Only two cases were successful? Sixty-eight cases went wrong?” Emlyn was decidedly taken aback, and couldn’t help but raise a hand to straighten his hair.
”Basically, that’s how dangerous that thing you’re going to do is, and the risk is even higher than that if you harbor malicious intent.” Klein responded sincerely.
Emlyn subconsciously shook his head:
”No, no, there’s no malice, and, and that big guy will protect me in the process.”
No malice? Er, even if there is malice, you may not know it, you are just a cannon fodder pushed to the foreground …… Klein raised his right palm and strengthened his tone with a gesture:
”It would make the risk a lot lower, but it would never not be there… can that big man actually fight the Hidden Presence?”
”…… I suppose, no.” Emlyn mumbled a reply.
”So.” Klein spread his hands.
He suddenly revealed a smile and said:
”Emlyn, in fact, there’s absolutely no need for you to take this risk, even if you completely believe in the Earth Mother God, it won’t have any impact on your life, look at the populace of Feneport, they’re still not eating what they love, wearing what they want to wear, and doing what they like to do, and by the time that time comes, odds are that Father Utrafsky won’t force you to go to the Church of the Harvest to do volunteer work any longer either anymore, and you’ll be free as you were meant to be.
”Besides, I think you’ve adapted well to Mother Earth’s teachings, there’s nothing contradictory about it.”
Emlyn White said after a moment of silence:
”Becoming a believer because I like the philosophy of K is completely different from being forcibly transformed into a believer through psychological suggestion, even if one day I do turn my back on the moon and believe in the Mother Goddess, I still hope that it’s a choice I made freely and has nothing to do with anyone else, it’s the last pride of a Blood Clan.”
Klein gave Emlyn a slightly surprised look, not realizing that the other party had such insistence.
He considered it for two seconds, didn’t try to persuade him anymore, and said with a “hmm”:
”The question is actually very simple, and that is whether the orders of the big man plus the temptation to get rid of the hidden dangers can make you have the courage to face a certain degree of danger, and if you have the conviction to give your life for it, then the answer is very simple.
”In short, this matter will ultimately have to be weighed by you.”
Emlyn listened with a heavy expression and instinctively retorted:
”If I do choose to try, it’s certainly not for myself, but for the entire Blood Clan! Solving the hidden danger is just a side benefit!”
For the sake of the entire Blood Clan? What could I possibly have to do that involves the entire Blood Clan? That big shot is lying to you, right? Klein laughed:
”A less powerful vampire has a chance to save the entire clan, do you believe it yourself?”
”The Blood Clan, the Blood Clan!” Emlyn emphasized, “Moreover, my strength isn’t bad, it’s equivalent to your human’s Sequence 7, and by the way, it’s still the kind that’s good at fighting!”
”As for the question of believing or not, you won’t understand.” He stood up and said, “Although your analysis and advice are not substantial, I still have to thank you for one thing, ergo, the consultation fee will be offset by the suitcase and tin box from last time.”
Huh? Klein didn’t react to what the other party was saying for a moment.
It was only when Emlyn left that he snapped out of it:
”Isn’t it usually the case that containers in a large amount transaction are complimentary items?
”This petty and stingy vampire!”
……
In the deep darkness before the lightning frequency returned, Silver City’s exploration team arrived “on time” at the outskirts of the half-abandoned temple.
Derek remembers that during the first operation, all the animal skin lanterns were extinguished here, and the whole team was plunged into pure darkness, while he himself heard the creepy “cry for help” from the little boy Jack from the depths of the temple.
According to Mr. Hanged Man and Miss Justice, this may be the beginning of the cycle, but why did they wake up at the campfire outside the city and not here? Derek raised his arms in secret prayer as he recalled the discussion at the tarot meeting and followed the appropriate advice.
His body suddenly blossomed with pure, bright light, spurring Joshua and the other members of the questing squad to take up combat stances quickly.
”What happened?” “Demon Hunter” Colin asked in a deep voice as he unsheathed his straight sword.
Derek looked left and right in “horror”:
”Your Chief Excellency, I just heard a child shouting ‘help me …… help me ……'”
He was going to try to see if that was the key point!
”Now what?” Colin asked warily.
”Not now.” Derek listened carefully.
”Demon Hunters,” Colin swept Joshua and the others out of the corner of his eye, “Did you hear that?”
”No.” The Quest Squad members shook their heads one after the other.
Colin made a decision after only a few seconds of thought, and drew a dark blue metal vial from a hidden compartment in his belt at his waist, applying the colorless, viscous liquid inside to his own straight sword.
Immediately afterward, he thrust his longsword upwards.
The mid-air was brightly lit up, and a silver, thin snake-like light wandered above, quickly spreading out in all directions.
The silver-white luster instantly covered all the members of the exploration team, seemingly illuminating everyone’s darkest “corners”.
The silver-colored serpent drilled into the void and ran to an unknown place.
Everything soon calmed down, leaving only the dim light of the animal skin lanterns quietly waving.
Colin half-closed his eyes, not knowing what he was sensing, and only after a full five seconds did he raise his hand and point forward, saying:
”From now on, there can’t be any negligence, bring the alert to the highest level.”
Good familiar words …… Here is not the key to break the predicament …… Dairik sank his mind, and without slacking off at all, he followed the team into the half abandoned temple.
This time, he learned his lesson and did not look at the face of the “Fallen Creator”, and then in the process of examining the ground part of the process, relying on the initiative and positive, to fight for the area where the frescoes are located.
Carrying an animal skin lantern and holding a Hurricane Axe, he and one of his teammates started the operation as a group.
After passing through a mottled or collapsed wall, he finally arrived at his destination.
As the light of the animal skin lantern came from far away, the mural on the wall gradually became clearer.
Derek first looked into the corner and found the strange line of words that impressed him.
”Redemption Rose ……” he murmured the name, raising the animal skin lantern and scrutinizing the details of the mural.
At the highest point on the mottled wall was the blurred, huge, pitch-black cross, from which hung upside down a shadow whose exact form was difficult to make out.
Against such a background, there was a barren, dead plain.
In the middle of the plain, there was a long line of people walking, and their target was none other than the high mountain in the distance, and the cross and the upside down person on top of the high mountain.
Within this line, some members were still kneeling on the ground, praying devoutly, while others had already stood up, facing the gusty winds and walking forward.
Their faces were all simply outlined, seemingly highlighting the rags of their clothing, except for the leader at the very front who was quite clear.
It was a tall, thin man with silver hair that reached his undershirt.
The man had soft features, his head hung low, his eyes were closed, and there were layers of glowing feathers behind him.
Angel! The rumored angels! Derek looked around the “leader” with excitement and secrecy.
Soon, he realized that at the feet of the man suspected of being an angel, there was a winding, shimmering river.
The river kept turning, circled back, and injected itself into the source!
Circulation! It formed a loop! Derek felt at once that he had grasped some key.
Within a circular experience, there was a surprisingly circular river within the mural on the wall!
The latter was clearly signaling or revealing something!
Derek looked upward and saw the silver-haired angel with uncountable feathers and a gentle face with a hint of indifference, as if looking down on the river, on destiny.
Was this the true meaning of Mr. Fool’s hint? After a moment’s thought, Derek decided to give it a try – if he succeeded, he was going to blame the young boy, Jack, for his own perversions, and if he failed, no one would remember what he had done!
As his teammates looked on in dismay, Derek raised his Hurricane Axe and slashed at the river on the mural.
A flash of electricity was triggered, and the silver fell onto the axe.
