Part 2 The Faceless Man Chapter 261 Edzak’s “Story”
The Red Rose Manor, inside the tanning booth.
Edzak Augustus stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his face grim and selective as he looked across the room at Tris, who had an impassive expression on her face, a volcano about to erupt in his voice:
”Why did you run away again?”
Tris’s gaze crossed over him to the window and gave a light laugh, not answering the question:
”See the meteor shower just now? Feel the tremor of the earth?”
Behind her, the china and other things arranged in the museum cabinet had fallen onto the thick soft carpet, and the old butler Finkel was standing by.
”It’s not too uncommon.” Edzak responded in a hushed voice.
Tris raised her eyebrows slightly and said:
”You are slow.
”Then I will tell you frankly that I am a witch!”
Prince Edzak’s expression did not change in the slightest as he turned to look at the old butler and said:
”You go to the door and guard it, don’t let anyone come in.”
”Yes, Your Highness the Prince.” Finkel indifferently glanced at Tris and turned back to walk out of the tanning room.
Hearing the door to the room close, Edzak slowly exhaled:
”Trischik, heh, you prefer to be called Tris.
”I know you’re a witch, the person who helped you buy the extraordinary materials didn’t work out, the ones you got were provided by me!
”I don’t care if my consort is a ‘witch’, or a ‘witch’, I’ve even read your wanted list!”
Tris froze at first, then broke into a teasing smile:
”You know a lot ……
”Then are you aware that I was once a man, and my real name is Tris.”
”…… What?” Edzak’s eyes rounded and he tilted his head slightly, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
When Tris saw this, she lost it and laughed, extremely violently, as if she were insane:
”Haha, you heard right, I used to be a man! I used to be just like you, longer and thicker than you down there! But the ‘witch’ magic potion forcibly changed my gender!
”Isn’t it disgusting? Are there goosebumps already?”
She vented her long pent-up words and took two steps forward.
Edzak instinctively stepped back, his throat squirming up and down once involuntarily.
”No, it’s not that …… you’re a real woman …… there’s nothing wrong with that …… I can absolutely confirm that! ” He first murmured, then drew up his voice and said, “You’ve been a real woman since I’ve known you, and I don’t really want to know what you were like in the past! I can pretend that nothing like that happened! What I like, what I love, is who you are now!”
Tris was stunned and raised her hand to wipe away the tears she had just laughed out of her eyes:
”You’re such a pathetic person.
”Don’t you understand? It’s no coincidence that we met, even if you like ……”
She paused as she regurgitated and continued, “Even your liking me was in someone else’s arrangement, don’t you think everything was too fast and too swift? I believe in love at first sight, but I don’t believe it has so much magic, you acted like the protagonist in a third-rate romance novel, just because you met me once, you fell obsessively in love with, fell in love with the strange me, forgetting about the target you once liked, it’s crazy!”
Prince Edzak’s eyes glazed over and his mouth opened, but no words came out.
His body shook suddenly, as if he had finally awakened from a long dream.
”You, you are indeed my favorite type …… but my reaction is, really, really, too exaggerated ……”
The corners of Tris’ mouth turned up in a sideways snort:
”Poor people, even things like liking are arranged by others, just like the puppets on strings.
”Don’t you understand? You belong to the objects that can be sacrificed, and I, on the other hand, am both the hostage needed for the cooperation between the royal family and the Witch Cult, and the disguise necessary for deception.
”I’m carrying the important items of the Witch Sect, under your close supervision, and at any time, I will be destroyed and will lose my treasures, this is the sincerity of the cooperation that we are showing, and once the matter is exposed, and it is known by the three major churches or another faction in the military, then the development of the matter will be very simple, Prince Edesak, who is greedy for beauty, and steals and raises the Witch Sect, and knowing that he is guilty of the crime, he swallows the gun and kills himself, the Then, all the problems would be covered up.”
”No!” Edzak shouted offhandedly.
Then, his face twisting, he asked:
”What sort of thing are they working on with the Cult of the Witch?”
”How could a hostage who could be given up at any moment possibly know?” Tris smiled to herself, “That’s all the reason I wanted to escape.”
She buried her head and laughed a low continuous laugh that caused her body to tremble softly.
After a few seconds, she reared her head back and traced the corners of her mouth:
”What do you want to do with me? Strip me naked and throw me on the bed? No, you should already be mentally challenged, in fact, I wouldn’t mind giving you some warmth right now, there’s no shame in two poor people comforting each other.”
Prince Edzak grimaced a round face and looked at Tris in silence for nearly a minute.
Suddenly he closed his eyes and pointed to the other side:
”You leave.
”Leave through that door.”
Tris raised her eyebrows in consternation:
”You’re letting me go?”
”Uh-huh.” Edzak turned to look out the window and replied slowly, “I’ll stop Finkel, and it’s up to you and your luck to escape the rest of the hunt.”
Tris’s eyes were confused for a few seconds, and she ran quickly to the dark door.
Before leaving, she couldn’t help but look back:
”What about you?”
Edzak didn’t look sideways, still gazing out of the floor-to-ceiling window as if he was searching for the shadows of the past.
He smiled and said:
”Me? Just let me live this wonderful story for its final conclusion, for better or for worse.”
Tris took a breath, and without further ado, entered the dark door.
……
St. Samuel’s Church, inside a quiet room.
One of the thirteen archbishops of the Church of the Goddess of the Night, the head of the Diocese of Birkeland, Saint Anthony Stevenson got an urgent telegram that came from the Earl of Hall’s residence.
This old man with a beardless face and deep eyes was extremely clean in appearance, and even in his black and reddish archbishop’s robes, he didn’t give people an obscure feeling.
However, anyone who faces him directly will tremble from the bottom of his heart, as if he is ruled by fear in his spirituality, or facing an unknown being watching himself from the depths of darkness.
Trischke …… Original Witch …… St. Anthony tapped the paper and stood up at once.
The light around them suddenly disappeared, as if engulfed by the dimness of the room.
All the believers praying in the entire church felt the descent of night for a moment.
Everything quickly returned to normal, and St. Anthony appeared in front of the Charnis Gate in the church’s underground.
The one who led the team responsible for guarding today was “Necromancer” Daley Simone.
Without waiting for her to ask, Archbishop St. Anthony commanded in a deep voice:
”Prepare yourself and enter the process, I’m going to awaken a sealed object.”
The one he was going to utilize was “0-17”.
He was going to use that terrifying sealing object to confirm and deal with Triskelion-related matters.
And this was the only “0” level seal that was kept outside of the Holy Church, and only two senior members of the entire Church knew that it was in the Bakerland Diocese.
”Yes, His Eminence the Archbishop.” Daley was stunned for a second and immediately responded.
While waiting, St. Anthony closed his eyes, and part of the seal’s “0-17” information naturally surfaced in his mind:
”Number: 17.”
”Name: XXXXXX.”
”Danger Level: ‘0’, Very Dangerous, Highest Importance, Highest Secrecy Level, Do not inquire, Do not transmit, Do not describe, Do not pry.”
”Confidentiality level: the Pope, Group A fellows, and the Archbishop in charge of the Diocese of Birkeland (Note: when the Archbishop transfers out of the Diocese of Birkeland, he needs to erase the relevant memories with the sealing object ‘1-29’)”
”Sealing method: sealing is accomplished through the cooperation of ‘1-29’ and ‘1-80’.”
”Description: this is not an item.
”It is a living angel.
”K has a beautiful appearance, with black hair and eyes, and is suspected to be a young woman, whose actual age cannot be estimated.
”……k No canonical feathers, lacks sufficient distinction from ordinary people based on appearance alone.
”……k has no ability to think, and has lost all spiritual intelligence.
”…… All people and objects that come close to the k disappear completely. …… Through divination and other means, it is possible to confirm that they are still alive and real, but it has never been possible to locate them, and 1,825 methods have been attempted. All have failed.
”…… The sphere of influence of ‘0-17’ expands and contracts without regularity, and has caused over 70 researchers to disappear so far.”
……
”Warning, k cannot be utilized!”
”Appendix 1: This seal first appeared in the Quaternary Pale Age, specific year, missing, specific date, missing, specific location, missing.”
”Appendix 2: Information indicates that k has been awakened five times.”
……
By delivering the message and searching for the fake Ince Zangwill, Klein, with the help of divinatory means, overcame the interference of the “master key”, and ran all the way to the location of the exit in the revelation.
He knew that the bodies in the unoccupied room would soon be discovered in the carpet search, so he had to race against time to get to the exit as soon as possible.
The ability of the “faceless man” must be matched with a magical item that can destroy bodies and traces ah …… Practice makes perfect, it did not take long for Klein to cross a barrier, a patrol, and arrived at the exit pointed out by the divination.
But what surprised him was that there were no guards here, only a heavy folio stone door stood there alone.
What was this situation? Why is there no one guarding the exit? Was my divination misguided, or are the guards outside? In the midst of his thoughts, Krynn found a corner, stripped off his armor, and resumed his light and agile state.
He then made his way to the folio stone door and groped for it, moving to the corner of the left wall.
After cautiously making a secondary confirmation with gold coins, Klein pulled out the brass-colored key with an ancient shape, pressed it against the wall, and twisted it gently.
Water waves emerged, slightly swaying, Klein passed through the wall without a sound, without going through the front door!
The first thing that caught his eye was the natural light that hung down from the dome, which meant that this place was indeed an exit.
Cautious not to move, Kraven quickly adjusted to the light, seeing neat but mottled gray stone slabs under his feet and a thick pillar in front of him.
It was a hall, with four hooded figures kneeling in the center around what looked suspiciously like an altar.
Immediately following, a soft but low female voice reached Klein’s ears:
”Mr. A, are you ready?”
