Part 2 The Faceless Man Chapter 74 – Deadly Battle
The moment his eyes locked, Lanlus bent violently and rolled forward in a closed position.
When!
A tarot card with the face of an angel and a trumpet was like a flying knife, sharply inserted into the wall of the sewer, and the height of its position was exactly level with Lanlus’ neck earlier.
Dang! Dang! When!
Rolling, leaping, or lunging forward, Lanlus avoided the three cards that came one after another with exceptional agility, letting them collide with the wall, with the stone slab, and with the concrete, emitting reverberations that sounded like metal being hammered.
At the same time, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the man in the clown mask following closely, not much slower than himself, holding the thickly laminated cards in one hand, and handing out the cards with one hand.
The sun that had grown out of his five senses on the face of the paper came into view, and Llanerus braced his left hand against the wall, and his whole body leapt up in the air, changing direction drastically.
Just then he heard a whooshing sound and a sudden sharp pain in his ankle!
Two cards were dealt? One lagged slightly and was aimed right at the direction I was dodging? He could predict my movements? Ranelus’ heart fluttered, and just as soon as he hit the ground, he endured the pain and rolled again.
When!
The position he was originally in, another tarot card was inserted, the one that was constantly trembling.
It was only at this time that Lanlus caught sight of his right ankle, deeply embedded in a cardboard card, on which the stars, water bottles and holy water depicted on it had been dyed bright red.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Lanlus didn’t even have a chance to think or deal with his injuries as one after another tarot card transformed into sharp flying daggers and shot at different parts of his body.
Soon, the injuries on his right foot and chest, the residual effects of the hole between his chest and abdomen, and the previous collision at least at the level of Demigods, made Sequence 9 “Stealer”, known for his speed and agility, start to become sluggish.
Snap! A piece of cardboard was knocked away from him, but his wrist was cut with a deep wound, a wound that continuously flowed blood.
The night watchmen and military personnel would soon come after him, and there could be no more delay! At this moment, Lanlus’ mind was very clear.
Suddenly, he stopped where he was, stopped dodging, and let a card depicting “Demon” on its surface hit him right in the neck.
Almost instantly, the cardboard cards stuck in his body were bounced off, and the hideous wounds on his neck, right chest, wrists, and ankles had the color of blood writhing crazily, sprouting one after another, in the shape of disgusting meat buds!
Above Lanlus’s skin, dense little bumps protruded in a flash, they were glowing with an iron color, and seemed to be connected into a set of full-body armor.
When! A tarot card was shot at him, and was bounced right off by the dense bumps.
Lanlus, whose eyes were tinted with blood red, looked at the opposite side of the clown who had stopped his movements and put away his cards, and said with a half-smile and half-sneer:
”No matter what, after being tossed around like that by a god, there’s always something to gain.”
Before the words fell, he stomped his left foot and leapt over the flowing filthy river, pouncing on the enemy on the opposite side.
Klein, who was wearing a “clown” mask, dodged sideways as if he had expected it, and then pulled his left hand out of his coat pocket, clenched it tightly into a fist, and punched Llanerus’s solar plexus like a cannonball.
Bang!
Llanerus swung his elbow sideways, put up his little arm, and accurately counter-punched his opponent’s fist.
That violent power torrents came in, and Klein was actually driven bodily for a moment, stumbling in his footsteps.
Snap! Snap! Pop!
One crunchy pop after another exploded in Klein’s ears, and punches that were heavier and faster than one another kept reflecting in his eyes.
He seemed to forget to keep his balance, and, following the stagger of his feet, lurched violently to the side, then, with the support of his left elbow, changed direction and rolled.
Snap! Thump thump thump!
Lanlus punched and kicked, fast and furious, and several times Klein came close, but always managed to rely on his exaggerated equilibrium for lucky dodges in movements that defied common sense, and he seemed to be performing acrobatics as he was sometimes on the wall and sometimes on the ground.
He was acting very calm and not at all impatient, as if he had made up his mind to delay the battle as long as possible, waiting for the Night Watch and military personnel to catch up.
But once Lanlus showed signs of taking the road and escaping, he was bound to die and pester, not giving a chance.
Snap!
Lanlus’ punch forced Klein to do a trapeze back with the help of the wall’s rebound, and he himself turned without hesitation and fled towards another passageway.
Klein’s toes pointed to the ground, and his body was about to shoot out like a cannonball, straight at Llanerus’ undershirt.
At this instant, an image suddenly surfaced within his mind:
”As if he had no bones, Lanlus forced his upper body to twist around and punched him.”
This was the intuitive hunch that belonged to the Joker!
Without hesitation, without hesitation, Klein voluntarily reduced the power of the follow-up.
With a snap, he still lunged, but quite a bit more feebly than expected.
Click!
In a teeth-grinding sound of friction, Lanlus’ legs did not move, and his upper body twisted back with a huff, his face facing directly back, his toes pointing forward.
In such a frightening image, Lanlus punched forward and blasted at Klein’s head with such force that the air rattled like an explosion.
Boom!
His fist hit the void, twenty to thirty centimeters away from Klein’s face.
The strong wind that swept up blew Klein’s hair, but he didn’t use the opportunity to attack his enemy, instead, he chanted an ancient Hermetic word in a low, hoarse voice:
”Crimson!”
A rune spell? Lanlus’ forehead jumped and he instantly lunged to the side in an attempt to dodge.
But at this time, instead of throwing the charm, Klein clenched his left fist tightly and followed Lanlus’ actions.
He similarly lunged to the side, similarly following the roll, and the two of them were only slightly separated.
He’s defrauding me? As soon as this thought flashed through Lanlus’ mind, the corners of the Joker’s mouth were clearly reflected within his eyes, as well as the dark red flame that had somehow ignited within his left fist.
This …… Lanlus’ gaze froze instantly.
A slight crackling sound then reached his ears, and a feeling of deep serenity instantly filled the room, enveloping both Klein and him.
What was he trying to do? He wanted both …… to be affected …… at the same time so that the subsequent …… night watchmen and military personnel …… could arrive …… Lanlus’ eyelids drooped heavily, the exhaustion and weakness he had forced down earlier using this to rebel wildly.
He did his best to hold himself back from falling asleep, trying to rely on the particulars of his body now to force his way through the stage where the effects of the slumber were at their strongest.
And without making the slightest resistance, Klein quickly fell into a deep sleep.
However, when he did not naturally fall asleep, he would instinctively wake up!
This is his special feature against “psychic” and “dreaming”!
This was the reason he was lucky enough to escape from Mrs. Sheridan’s hands in the first place!
In the battle just now, after the cardboard flying daggers were ineffective, he immediately took out the “Sleeping Charm” and held it tightly in his palm, waiting for the chance to use it, waiting for the chance to affect himself and the enemy!
In just a moment, he broke free from his dream, and his eyes clearly reflected the staggering Lanlus.
Whew! Klein’s entire being suddenly became very calm, as if it was just a target in front of him.
He took a sharp breath, rotated his waist and back, pulled his shoulders, and jabbed his fist forward with all his might!
Bang! Ka-ching!
His fist struck Llanerus hard where his throat was, striking with the sound of breaking bones and the effect of splattering blood and flesh.
Lanlus fell back two steps and pressed against the wall.
The excruciating pain had finally freed him from the effects of his slumber, but the fine, iron-colored bumps on his body had all but faded away.
And after Klein’s punch hit, his left hand had dug into his pocket and pulled out two cards.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The two tarot cards were each inserted into one of Lanlus’ eyes, and blood-colored liquid instantly flowed downwards.
Surprisingly, Lanlus endured this pain and didn’t let out a mournful scream as he lunged forward to make the strongest struggle possible!
Klein did not attack in a smooth manner, and sidestepped his body as if he had expected it, taking a step back.
Immediately afterward, taking advantage of Llanerus’ opportunity to lunge into the open, he rushed behind his opponent in two steps, and with a hitch of his hands, wrapped them around his enemy’s neck.
Ka-ching!
Kraven’s arms powered up and turned violently, twisting Lanlus’ neck in this way!
After doing so, he took two steps back and looked at his opponent.
Lanlus’ eyes, which were stuck in the cardboard, looked forward feebly, and his body slowly went limp, while at the same time, he asked in a very puzzled and broken voice:
”Why ……”
”To …… kill …… me ……”
Klein, wearing a clown mask, gazed at the enemy in front of him and replied rather indifferently:
”No reason.”
”No……” Lanlus’ eyes widened in disbelief as he collapsed to the floor of the sewer, his breath finally dissipating.
Just then, Klein, who seemed to be very calm, violently stepped forward, tensed his right leg, and kicked out with all his strength, kicking Lanlus in the head.
Bang!
The already bloody and bone broken neck could no longer withstand this pressure, Lanlus’s head flew out like a ball of skin and hit the wall heavily, crashing out a red and white piece!
Klein looked at this scene and suddenly crouched his back.
”Ha ha ha ha ha ha.”
”Hahahahahahahaha.”
He laughed in a low, frantic voice, the “clown” mask on his face so happy.
The high corners of his mouth, the bright red nose, the smudged white face, it was so happy.
”Haha, haha, haha …… hahaha ……” Klein laughed so hard that he couldn’t catch his breath, and laughed harder than he cried.
After a few seconds, he finally calmed down, slowly straightened his body, squeezed his left eye at the darkest part of the sewer, and then, with the corners of his mouth quirked up, he muttered silently to himself:
”Captain ……”
”Look, we saved Rune once more ……”
Drop after drop of liquid slid silently by and landed on his collar.
At this moment, he felt his “Joker” magic potion completely digested.
