Part 3 The Traveler Chapter 150 The Wrap-Up
In a silence that was as frozen as a freeze, Emilius quickly controlled his expression and said with majesty deep in his voice:
”Tell me exactly what happened.”
Klein did not hide too much, starting with Austen Leavitt’s inquiry, then mentioning the dream in which he was warned by the mysterious man that he should not fight against the trend of the times history’s choice, then briefly talking about the telegram that came out of the blue, and finally describing Cynthia’s mutation, the situation at the scene, the secretary’s arrogance, his own response, and the subsequent investigations in a general way.
The only elements he concealed were that February 4 was the first day of his arrival on Oravi Island, and the corresponding speculations.
Of course, the specifics of the battle, he also spoke very vaguely, believing that Admiral Emilius would be able to understand, after all, what an Extraordinary is good at and what unique abilities he has is one of the biggest secrets in itself, and if it leaks out and is understood, and is purposefully set up, he may even die at the hands of an enemy with a lower sequence than his own.
Below the high sequence, many extraordinary people could be very powerful or very vulnerable!
Emilius listened quietly, his face unreadable in the dimly lit room, but the failure to interrupt or ask questions in the middle of the conversation spoke volumes in itself.
After a few seconds of silence, he spoke stoically:
”The mysterious person who invaded your dream emphasized the fate of the times, as well as the tides?”
”Yes.” Klein had resumed his Germaine Sparrow face, and did not deliberately try to explain the Mystic’s failure to mention the specific machinations of Austen Leavitt.
Emilius said after another moment of silence:
”You kept my appearance in your dream?”
”Yes, that is my secret.” Klein replied succinctly.
Emilius nodded his head less obviously and paced noiselessly in a small area for a few moments before looking back at Germaine Sparrow:
”Your choice, no questions asked.”
Upon hearing these words, it was as if Klein had received the ultimate and most effective return, and all of the magic potion in his body digested with it.
In a low voice echoing, Emilius turned his body sideways, casting his gaze out the window and said without emotion:
”I originally didn’t intend to sign a contract with the double, instead I was going to inform Cynthia that there was a precursor of loss of control, and that I couldn’t be close to her for 5 days, but then some reasons made me change my mind.”
Without the forced restrictions of the temporary contract, even if I could have held out through my usual temptations, I couldn’t have fought the amplified desire last night ……
Of course, after Cynthia knew about the 5-day limit in advance, she wouldn’t have rushed to take the powder ground out of the Necklace of Reproduction, and thus wouldn’t have sensed the “Mother Tree of Desire” and experienced a mutation …… But then, the initiative would have been in her hands. In this way, the initiative is in the hands of the celestial sect, they can find other excuses to make Cynthia take ……
This matter is really for me ah …… “Mother Tree of Desire” actually want to do what, and what is the reason for Admiral Emilius to make a crucial change …… Klein vaguely grasped the key, looking at the side of Emilius’ face and said:
”What reason?”
Emilius spoke without a trace of expression:
”You don’t need to know.”
For the first time, …… Klein hated such a response so much.
After thinking about it, he pulled out the cracked pendant and tossed it to Emilius:
”This is the ‘Necklace of Reproduction’ that originated from the ‘Mother Tree of Desire’.”
Emilius raised his hand to catch it and glanced down at it saying:
”You may leave.
”Go to Bildt’s and collect your payment.”
Aren’t you even worried that I know something I shouldn’t? It’s also right, Auston and their plot has already been exposed and known by their political enemies, and Emilius is clearly not involved, so it’s not a big problem if I know or not …… Klein thought that there would be a long term confidentiality pact, but who knew that he could leave just like that.
He saw that Emilius hadn’t taken the initiative to mention the other thing, so he pointed at the other man and said:
”Clothes.”
Only then did Admiral Emilius raise his head and silently took off the tuxedo formal wear containing a shirt and vest.
Klein had originally wanted to use the difficulty of this mission exceeding the pre-agreed boundaries as a reason to ask for additional payment, but after vaguely being able to confirm that Cynthia’s matter came about because of himself, had sheepishly abandoned that intention. He quickly took off his cozy robe, changed into his tuxedo, followed Emilius’s lead, jumped down from the window, and quietly left the garden house while one of the guards was “blinded” by something.
Emilius put on his robe, held the Necklace of Breeding, and went to the window, looking at the scarlet moon and a few stars in the dark night, standing in silence.
He stood there without expression for a long time without changing his posture.
Snap!
His tightly clenched left hand slightly loosened, and the reduced rhinoceros horn-like ruptured pendant then fell to the ground in a fragmented state, one by one, one by one.
……
At noon the next day, after a good night’s sleep, Klein left the hotel and took a carriage to the Sweet Lemon Bar, where he met Bilt Brando in the room on the second floor.
”Is it over?” Bilt asked with some relief and surprise.
Klein nodded:
”Admiral Emilius is back.
”What about the rest of the payoff?”
With a smile that was hard to hide, Bilt went to the safe himself, with his bodyguards all but dismissed to the door, and withdrew the final payment of five hundred pounds and an azure cufflink.
”This is the magical item made from the fisherman’s swim bladder you provided.” Bilt described, “It provides phantom scales hidden under your skin, making you as hard to catch as a fish and helping you take some damage. With it, you can dive at least 15 meters unprotected and move freely underwater for 10 minutes. It doesn’t have much of a negative effect, it just makes you tire more easily than normal in hot or dry places.”
In other words, try not to mix this cufflink and the “sun brooch” …… Klein reached out and took the money and object.
”You’re not worried about a problem?” Bilt joked.
”Your estate is here.” Klein replied flatly.
He simply meant that he wasn’t afraid of not being able to find the person responsible if something went wrong.
Bilt’s smile stiffened for a second and turned:
”It doesn’t have a name yet, you can give it one.”
”Fishman’s Sleeve Nails.” Klein didn’t bother wasting brain cells.
”…… Good name, very graphic.” Bilt forced a smile.
He added after a pause:
”That ‘artisan’ said that he can solidify the ritual of summoning spirit world creatures on spiritually-charged materials for up to a year and a half, but he needs you to provide detailed information.
”Oh, as agreed, the money will be paid by me, so you don’t have to worry.”
”Okay, make it into a harmonica.” Klein took out a pen and paper from his pocket and brushed down the ritual to summon his messenger.
”A messenger? That’s rather rare, it’s hard to find suitable messengers for extraordinary people outside the pathway of death.” Bilt took the piece of paper and casually glanced at it, “Huh. If you accidentally summon a messenger while crafting it, you need to give her a gold coin …… What happens if you don’t? Oh, there’s always something strange about spirit creatures, I’ve seen ones that are particularly fond of music, and I’ve seen ones that wander next to feces.”
What happens if you don’t give? Perhaps Ms. Renette Tignicole will bring me your head and the head of the ‘Artisan’, she is a creature with a castle in the spirit world, maybe even stronger than me, well, if I don’t use the Scepter of Poseidon… …Klein said in a deep voice after a couple of belly laughs:
”The third item crafting commitment will come later.”
”Good.” Bilt had no objections to this, and then asked with some curiosity, “Mr. Gelman, how did you manage to conceal the Secretary Luelan, Governor Austen, and Miss Cynthia that Admiral Emilius highlighted?”
…… Klein did his best to keep his face from twitching:
”Follow the information and try to figure it out carefully.”
Without recounting it specifically, he stood up, took his hat, and saluted:
”I should take my leave.”
”Good cooperation.” Bildt responded with a smile.
After watching Germaine Sparrow’s back disappear in the doorway, he shook his head and smiled lowly, muttering to himself:
”This powerful and crazy adventurer is actually a natural theater actor?”
After lunch his men brought in today’s copy of the paper.
While smoking a cigar and casually flipping through it, Bilt’s expression suddenly froze.
”Last night, the new Governor Ben Conard held a banquet at his residence …… The new Governor? Austen Leavitt was relieved of his duties as Governor?” Startled, Bilt picked up the rest of the papers and saw the same news.
With the resources of his connections in Oravi, he should have heard about such a big event as a change of governor for a long time, but this time, it happened extremely suddenly, and the vast majority of the people did not have a preliminary understanding of the situation until the new governor formally showed his face.
After another while, a collaborator who secretly served Admiral Emilius entered the room.
”His Excellency the Admiral has asked you to inventory the people around you, find all the adherents of the Celestial Cult and sink them into the sea.” This collaborator conveyed Emilius’ orders.
”Good.” Bilt asked in confusion, “What exactly happened? The Celestial Cult has suffered a heavy blow since yesterday.”
”His Excellency the Admiral was assassinated by the Celestial Cult, Miss Cynthia was killed, Secretary Luelan was injured, and the General’s Guard lost quite a few people.” That collaborator described it briefly.
”Huh?” Bilt was a bit dumbfounded for a moment.
This, isn’t this the object of playing attention that Admiral Emilius mentioned?
I even specifically emphasized it to Germaine Sparrow ……
Now, Miss Cynthia was killed, Secretary Luelan was injured, and Auston Levitt was relieved of his duties as Governor …… Bilt moved the corners of his mouth with a dull expression.
……
The capital of East Chester County, the city of Storne.
Audrey quietly listened to the words of a noble lady, occasionally echoing a couple of sentences to offer enlightenment.
”Audrey, you are truly an angel, I feel much more comfortable after talking to you.” At the end of the day, that noble lady praised from the bottom of her heart.
At this time, Audrey saw a female priest of the Black Night Church come in, so she modestly greeted her with a light smile.
On the surface, this priest was an ordinary person, doing the lowest level of preaching, but in reality, she was a secret member of the “Psychological Alchemy Society”.
”Audrey, the magic potion formula has already reached me, but you must contribute enough to obtain it.” The female priest took advantage of no one’s attention and whispered.
Audrey’s eyes turned slightly and said:
”No problem.
”However, Ms. Smin, can you tell me the name of it?”
The priestess known as Smin glanced around and lowered her voice:
”Hypnotist.”
