Klein had no reason not to comply with the request of the “general above the stars”, and after a couple of seconds’ thought, said:

  ”Seven hundred pounds.”

”Fair enough.” Gadelia didn’t return the favor.

The extraordinary characteristic of Sequence 8 was normally six or seven hundred pounds, but if one encountered a person in dire need, a premium was common, after all, this kind of item, in an extraordinary gathering, there might only be that one piece in a long time.

Crane did not complete the transaction immediately, and with an unchanged expression lifted the case and said:

”I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”

He didn’t carry the extraordinary characteristic of “fighter” with him, and most of the valuable things were thrown into the gray mist.

”General Star Above,” Gadelia nodded, not surprised by Germaine Sparrow’s answer:

  ”No problem.”

She had encountered many similar situations, which often meant that together with the extraordinary characteristics of the “fighter” there were certain items that could not be known by outsiders, so it was impossible for Germaine Sparrow to open the suitcase in person and complete the transaction on the spot.

A crazy adventurer always has a few secrets!

Gadelia paused for a second and added:

”Your room will not be furnished for prying eyes.”

It was time to look, and she did so straight away.

”That’s okay.” Klein sketched the corners of his mouth and smiled indifferently.

His previous intention had been to set out things like the Aztec brass whistle and the Will Onsett paper crane to counter prying eyes in the occult sense when performing rituals or entering the Gray Mist above, and then to use the lavatory method to circumvent physical surveillance.

Of course, he wasn’t worried that the “general above the stars” would go too far, not because he thought the other side would be afraid of the mad adventurer Germaine Sparrow, but because he didn’t think Gadelia would have to, and she should have softer, more subtle ways of observing.

For example, a “spectator” way of extraordinary people …… Klein took off his hat, saluted, and followed the “toxin expert” Frank Lee to his room.

As she watched him leave unhurriedly, Gadelia turned into the captain’s cabin, picked up her heavy glasses, and set them on the bridge of her nose.

  ……

  Birkeland, Bridge South, Harvest Church.

In the eyes of ordinary people, Bishop Utravski, whose height already belonged to the level of a half-giant, put down the holy scripture in his hand, looked around the prayer hall for a while, and smiled gratefully:

”There are more and more believers.”

”Is that so?” Emlyn White in his brown clerical robes wiped the candlesticks and spoke without lifting his eyelids.

He knew that the Mother Goddess’s followers had indeed grown quite a bit after the Great Haze incident in Birkeland; whereas before it had been a miracle for three or five people to come to pray during the usual non-weekend, non-evening hours, now it was often closer to ten.

Father Utravski glanced down at the busy vampire cleric and laughed:

”Anyone who isn’t blind can see.

”In this, your contribution is great, without you mixing the potions and treating the plague in the first place, and later sincerely teaching the willing learners about medicines, it would have been difficult for our beliefs to be accepted by the populace of this region.”

Emlyn took the rag and straightened his back, lifting his chin slightly as he said:

  ”I’m just playing along.”

Wait, what do you mean our beliefs? Who and you us? His cheek twitched and he turned to laugh:

”Speaking of the blind, I’m reminded of a joke I saw earlier about the oversupply of blind people in Birkeland because they’re widely considered to be the most suitable candidates to be judges.”

Father Utravski skipped over the joke and said compassionately:

”For whatever purpose, you have made a remarkable contribution to the spread of the Mother Goddess’ faith.

”And it proves that you have a good heart.”

Ugh! That’s what I said in the first place, why don’t you believe me? Emlyn looked up at his eyes father’s arguably huge stature and silently withdrew his gaze again.

Finished with the church, he changed into his normal attire, put on the silk bowler hat that shielded him from the sun, and walked down Moonflower Street.

He glanced stealthily from side to side, not noticing any signs of being monitored.

”That ‘Red Glove’ called Leonard before really hasn’t appeared again ah …… I thought that after revealing his secret and buying the ‘Spark’ glove , he would have been secretly investigating me …… “Emlyn White shook his head slightly invisibly, his heart filled with incomprehension.

Initially, he also wanted to combine the theory of the “inverted man”, the introduction of the “Red Glove” investigation, interfere with the monitoring of the upper echelons of the blood race, itself with the help of the Church of the Mother Goddess of the Earth, with the help of the dependents of the priest Utravsky, to reach a perfect balance.

But things didn’t go as he expected, and Leonard Mitchell seemed to be leaving Birkeland soon.

At the end of February, on one of his outings, Emlyn took a detour to 7 Pinner Street and found it unoccupied.

No longer thinking about it, he walked to the end of the street, got into a hired carriage, and went straight to the Audra family’s cottage.

After being introduced to the study located on the first floor by the attendant, Emlyn saw several Bloods who had just recently reached adulthood, which even included a fellow Blood who had become a Baron.

Not looking for me alone? He thought for a moment and stood in the closed doorway, addressing the owner of the place, Casimir Audra:

”Your Excellency the Baron, is it not Lord Nebais who has summoned me?”

He called out this baronial excellency flatly, as if he were calling the other man by his first name, for he too was a blood baron now, only he had not yet announced it.

Cassimi, a very elegant middle-aged gentleman, smiled at his words and said:

”You are all outstanding members of the younger generation of the Blood Race, and my grandfather has entrusted me to give you some tests.”

”What test?” Ruth Bathory, another Blood Baron who had luckily inherited the legacy, opened his mouth and asked.

Cassimi took a sip of the dark red blood that had been mixed with wine and looked around the room:

”Perhaps you are not aware that the ‘Serpent of Destiny’ from the School of Life has been missing for some time.”

In an atmosphere of surprise and bewilderment as Emlyn White and the other Bloods looked at me and me at you, Cassimi continued:

”But I think you should know very well that the School of Life is an organization that is barely blended together, where the extraordinary people who believe in destiny and present themselves as the absolute rationalizers of the transcendent and the believers who worship the primordial moon and search for the essence of life and spirituality formed an alliance under the enormous pressure of the seven churches at the beginning of the Fifth Era.

”Because of the existence of that ‘Serpent of Destiny’, there had been no major problems within them, and the worship of the primordial moon had always been confined and fixed in a symbolic sense, and had been truly fused little by little by way of master and disciple inheritance, and exchange of formulas.

”Unfortunately, heh, that process was interrupted with the disappearance of that ‘Serpent of Destiny’, and the believers in the primordial moon quickly became fanatical, splitting with the faction that represented Destiny and erupting into bitter conflict.

”This matter was exploited by the Rose School and caused them no small amount of harm.”

Seeing that Emlyn White, Ruth Bathory, and the other Bloods were still a bit puzzled, Cassimi, who had explained the background, turned to the main topic:

”The Primordial Moon worshippers are our eternal enemies, and they have been hunting us to concoct magic potions and gain power!

”Now, we can’t let this opportunity pass.

”Here is a list of several Primordial Moon worshippers, and whoever of you can find their whereabouts and kill them will be the victor of this test, and my grandfather, as well as your lords, will not begrudge the reward.

”If all complete a portion of it, by number.

”Of course, these are the ones that have been selected and are within your strength. For the rest, there are the lords to track.”

Emlyn White, when he heard the first part of the story, though filled with contempt and hatred for the “artificial” vampires, had no intention at all of getting involved; he thought it was too much trouble, too strenuous, too noisy, and that it would be better to stay quietly at home and talk to the dolls.

After realizing that this was a battle between each other, and vaguely feeling the eyes of Ruth Bathory and the other Bloods looking towards him, Emlyn jerked his back straight and lifted his chin:

  ”No problem.”

His scarlet eyes slowly swept over the other creatures in the room.

  ……

”The Future,” in a room that was spacious and had a lavatory attached.

Klein stood by the window, looking out at the never-ending undulating blue ocean, breathing in the cold wind from the north in a good mood.

The flagship of the “General of the Stars” had already separated from the other ships and started to sail alone.

I don’t know how long it took, but two whalers appeared ahead of them, and as soon as they noticed the “Future”‘s fluttering Star and Eye flag, they reacted nervously.

They quickly adjusted their position, so that the side to this side, a gun ready to fire.

At the same time the whaling guns, which fired javelins and harpoons from explosives, were turned in the same direction, and the tall, pale blonde-haired fishermen of the Galgas Islands stood, or stood, or crouched, unusually alert, either with pitchforks or guns.

Klein had noticed the presence of women about the size of the Hulk, who were particularly heavy and capable at first glance.

”The Futura paid no attention to their “welcome”, and passed by, continuing deeper into the whaling channel.

After sailing for a while, Klein saw a few more pirate ships in front of him, and they surrounded the edge of the channel, not knowing what they were doing.

The “future ship” nonchalantly close to the past, those pirate ships immediately like a bird after being shot, quickly back away to the distance.

Sensing that the Future was getting slower and slower, Klein turned around and left the room, slightly puzzled.

Just as he approached the captain’s room, he found “General Star” Gadelia coming out, this lady had a pair of heavy glasses on the bridge of her nose, which covered her deep violet eyes that had a mysterious flavor.

She looked at Klein and said succinctly:

”Someone has found a supposed Quaternary relic on the bottom of the sea here.

”We’re going to stop by and take a look.”

The ocean floor? A Quaternary relic? Klein immediately remembered the rumor he heard in the Lodal Bar.

So the news has already spread? I told you how easy it was to hear about …… He muttered to himself in his mind with a sense of realization.
