Part 3 the traveler Chapter 204: A Difficult Ritual
After thinking for a while, without an answer, Klein put away the slender blood crystal because he did not have a premonition of danger, then bent down and examined the Gilthias who had lost half of his head and was demonized again.
”I don’t know if I can still get a bounty this way, and how much …… I don’t know who the military liaison is over here, do I? Shooting a telegram to Urs Kent? This back and forth, plus the time he operates remotely, no three or four days certainly can’t get it right, I have to leave tomorrow …… And, there’s no less favor to give the middleman.” He muttered something, stepped aside, picked up the half-height silk bowler hat with the telltale scorch marks, and put it on his head.
Then, dragging the heavy, bulky demon corpse with him, he took a step to the door and reached out to pull it open.
A whistling wind blew in, and the silence in the room vanished at once.
Klein pinched his fingers to turn off the “spirit line”, and continued dragging the hideous body of the demon through the corridor, down the stairs, and down to the first floor.
By now, there were few people left in the bar, with tables and chairs overturned and debris all over the place.
Klein entered the lobby via the badly damaged stairway, and looked around to find the owner, cowering behind the bar with a worried frown on his face – few of the bouncers he’d hired were left, scattered around the place.
Da, da, da …… Klein took a step forward, the demonic corpses behind him knocking over a number of tables and chairs.
”You, what do you want to do?” The boss took a step back and asked at the top of his voice.
His bodyguards gathered warily, their eyes fluttering and their bodies each going in different directions, as if they would immediately go berserk at the first sign of trouble.
Klein stopped dead in his tracks and flung Gilthias’ body forward.
Then he spoke in a husky voice:
”Can you claim the bounty on my behalf?”
The boss froze for a second, and his eyes instinctively shifted downward to get a better look at the huge demonic corpse that was still wreathed in some blue flames.
He and his bodyguards simultaneously sucked in a breath of cold air, having a hallucination that they themselves were not in the real world.
This was actually a real demon!
It was exactly the same as the demons described in church texts and legends and stories, except for the lack of curved goat horns!
To the ordinary people living in Pirate Paradise, witnessing supernatural powers was not too rare a thing, and in this regard, they were significantly more knowledgeable than the people in the colonies west of Olavi and the kingdom proper, but the crowd, who were the owner and guards of the large bar, had likewise never seen a real demon, and even suspected that this was the church’s smear campaign against the unofficial Extraordinary Ones.
The owner withdrew his eyes with difficulty and looked over at the adventurer with the tattered clothing and cold demeanor and said:
”Can, they, they should have a way to confirm that it is Gilhiais.
”It is Gilhiais, right?”
Klein nodded wordlessly in secret relief.
The owner deliberated for two seconds, squeezing out a wince-filled smile and saying:
”But can’t get all of it, you know, it will cost some, fees in between, about 30%, otherwise you will have to wait for a long time, 9,500 pounds is not a small amount, for Tuscart Harbor, at least a week, this, this is still because there are often pirates here, there are often adventurers who take the bounty, so there is always a considerable amount of money, on Olavi Island, on other place, it might take two weeks, or even a month.”
9,500 pounds is indeed not a small amount, Klein clearly remembers that when he was in Tingen City, the budget of the Night Watchman Squad was only something like 1,000 pounds a month, or the church and the police department shared it.
He thought for a moment and said to the barman:
”Do you recognize me?”
”Recognize.” The owner nodded his head busily.
Klein swept everyone’s eyes and continued to ask:
”Can you find out where I live?”
”Yes, yes.” The boss didn’t dare to lie.
Klein gave a “hmm” and said in a flat tone:
”Send the 6000 pounds bounty by noon tomorrow.”
6000 pounds? This is less than 70%, more than 600 pounds less …… The boss froze for a moment, not expecting that the crazy adventurer would also take the initiative to lower the price.
”Can it be done?” Klein asked again.
The extra £650 was his compensation to the bar, after all, the situation here was quite miserable, however, such words could not be said by the mad adventurer himself, he believed that the bar owner was no philanthropist, and would certainly not hand over the extra money to someone else.
The owner replied after careful thought:
”Yes!”
Even if it was true that the official process wasn’t that fast, he wasn’t worried about anything, because he was planning to borrow some of the money first, along with his own savings, to pad out the bounty that Germaine Sparrow needed.
There weren’t many businesses that could make several hundred pounds at a time, and they should never be let go!
Crane nodded, and without another word, turned his body and walked towards the door of the bar.
As he neared the door, he pulled a few yellowish copper coins from his coat pocket and tossed them onto a small, un-tipped round table nearby.
Clinking and clanking, the coins tumbled until they leveled off, totaling eight pence.
In doing so, Crane, in his long black gown, had not paused or slowed in his steps, and his back soon disappeared at the gate.
”He, what does he mean by this?” The boss opened his mouth in surprise and bewilderment.
The vast majority of the bodyguards shook their heads with the same expression, signaling that they too did not know what Germaine Sparrow’s intentions were in tossing the coin.
The only bodyguard who was originally guarding the gate frowned in thought and said with less certainty:
”When he first came in, he had take away, take away someone else’s glass of beer and threw it at Gilthias.
”Is this the money for that beer with the glass?”
Once again the bar fell silent, the owner and a few of the bouncers, while unable to accept this explanation, somehow felt that it was rather in keeping with the style of the mad adventurer Germaine Sparrow.
……
Ruined another suit, that’s almost nine pounds …… Luckily, this time the income is not good …… Well, tomorrow re-match another suit …… After turning into another street, Klein stopped and examined his state.
He did not rush back to the hotel where he stayed, first, according to the information provided by the boss of the “New Ruen Party” Mo Sona, found a drug-controlled, gangsters have done many bad things, and even faked the circumstances of the murder of witnesses of the police, the use of psychic methods to confirm the other side of the crime, and then, so that the “wriggling hunger Then, he let the “writhing hunger” enjoy the real meal of the day.
After doing this, Klein took a carriage back to the hotel and entered the room.
With a little setup, he used the ritual to bring the “writhing hunger” and the slender blood crystals to the gray mist.
Sitting at the top of the bronze table, Kraven did not hesitate to take his gloves and release the soul of the “Priest of Light”.
This Sequence 5 powerhouse was a thin-faced, elegant and easy-going old man, who wore a simple white clergyman’s robe and bowed to the mysterious being in the gray fog to express his gratitude.
Klein nodded gently as a response, and then directly materialized a pen and paper, writing down a divination statement:
”‘Sun’ pathway Sequence 7 or higher magic potion formula.”
Leaning back in his chair, he began to use the “dreamscape divination” method of channeling.
The gray sky soon changed, and he saw the “Priest of Light” unfolding a brown parchment in the sunlit study, with a recipe transcribed in Guversac:
”Sequence 6, ‘Notary’.
”Primary ingredient: 1 crystallized root of the Tree of Elders, 5 tail feathers of the Chevalier’s Bird.
”Auxiliary materials: 100 milliliters of sap from the Radiant Chevalier’s Tree, one gold-rimmed sunflower, one white-rimmed sunflower, 5 drops of Water Fern sap.”
The screen paused for a few seconds before the water waves floated up and reconstructed a lavish hall with golden statues everywhere.
Inside the hall, a man covered in a pure light that made people dare not look directly at him said to the half-hundred old man below:
”This is the magic potion formula of the ‘Priest of Light’, remember, drive away the darkness and praise the sun.”
The old man excitedly obliged and unfolded the ancient parchment in his hand:
”Sequence 5, ‘Priest of Light.
”Primary Material: the red crown of the King of the Dawn Roosters, a piece of Pure White Radiant Stone.
”Secondary materials: 5 grams of rosemary, 7 drops of kumquat juice, 10 milliliters of rock water, 60 milliliters of blood from the King of the Dawn Stag.
”Ritual: In pure darkness, bury your entire body in ice that wouldn’t normally melt, then take a magic potion.”
The image quickly disappeared without any more redundancy.
Klein was not surprised by this, he knew very well that when it came to the demigod realm, the seven churches tended to provide magic potions and rituals directly, without giving recipes.
By this time, the figure of the “Priest of Light” had already dissipated for the most part due to the forced channeling.
His agonized expression dimmed, and he tilted his head upwards, opening his arms outwards in a gesture of embracing the sun.
”Praise the sun!” This “Priest of Light” closed his eyes and spoke reverently.
These were his last words, and his spiritual body quickly disintegrated and faded, falling into the gray mist and disappearing completely.
A devotee …… Klein sighed and commented, then quickly recalled what he saw in the dream and transcribed the recipe.
”One of the main ingredients of Notary Public is the root crystals of the Elder Tree …… I remember Ms. Justice’s “psychiatrist”. “magic potion requires the fruit of the Elder Tree …… So it seems that the “audience” and “sun” really may be in the high sequence of the swap! Unlike the ritual of the “Priests of Light”, where the difficulty for the average person is to find ice cubes that don’t melt normally, the little “Sun”, the living people of the “Forsaken Land” are in the middle of a world where the “Sun” has been destroyed, and the “Sun” has been destroyed by the “Sun”. The living in the “Godforsaken Land” in pure darkness may disappear, have to think of a way to avoid …… drive away the darkness, praise the sun is to play the law? Klein pondered for a while, and picked up the long, thin blood crystals that had precipitated from Gilthias’ body.
He considered it for several seconds and carefully wrote down the corresponding divination statement:
”Where it came from.”
Taking the item and the paper, Krynn once again meditated on the statement and entered the dream world.
In the gray world, he saw the huge sailing ship, the “Deathtrap”, with both ends raised high, and saw Gilthias climbing the soft ladder up to the deck.
As soon as the Apostle of Desire’s feet were firmly planted on the deck, a viscous black mist filled the crevices of the deck, filled with the smell of depravity and evil, enveloping Gilthias completely, contaminating and corrupting all the shimmering aura of his body, including himself.
The mists contracted rapidly, burrowing into Gilthias’ chest, gradually turning red in color, as if stained with blood.
Finally, everything returned to normal, and Gilhiais dropped to one knee, facing the deck:
”Your will is my will, great ‘Confessor’!”
The image then shattered, and Klein’s eyes opened.
He sat up straight and looked at the slender blood crystals, murmuring thoughtfully and wordlessly to himself:
”The ‘Sue Death’ is alive?
”A piece of sealing that possesses the characteristics of being alive?
”This crystal is the source of its control over the crew, possessing strong contaminating properties, so that magical items with insufficient bits will be corrupted?”
