Part 4 The Undead Chapter 164 Daley’s Temptation
Going out at night to buy dictionaries, in a city where the situation is somewhat chaotic, and with the looks of an Intis, this is indeed more dangerous …… No, can’t keep wearing these gloves …… Danez was stunned for a few seconds, and with a jerk of his hand, he lifted up, unclasped the gloves, and tried to take them off.
He just reached the halfway point of this action, suddenly stopped again, measured Anderson twice, swept the black gloves worn by the other party’s left palm for a moment, and put the gloves back on with a dry smile.
”I think that in the Southern Continent, here, the most important thing is still one’s own strength.” Daniz added with a leathery smile.
Anderson’s expression didn’t change in any way, still rubbing his chin as he said:
”So what are you going to do?”
Daniz pointed to the stairway and said:
”I’m going to approach the owner of the inn and borrow his dictionary, I don’t think he’d fail to teach his children Duttanese.”
”That’s a thought, but even with a dictionary you won’t be able to learn it anytime soon, even with just a handful of words it’s quite difficult to master, after all, it’s part of a different system than the language of the North Continent.” Anderson tsked, “Still, I’ll give you an idea, your captain should have taught you some ritual magic in the realm of the ‘God of Knowledge and Wisdom’, right?”
”Right.” Daniz nodded directly without doing any thinking.
Anderson said with a double clap of his palms:
”Then I can teach you a new ritual magic, by praying to the ‘God of Knowledge and Wisdom’ and getting the ability to hear, recognize and write the Duttan language for a week.”
Daniz shook his head without hesitation:
”I believe in the ‘Lord of Storms’, not the ‘God of Knowledge and Wisdom’, and some of the previous ritual magic was answered because of the Captain.”
As he said this, he glanced at Anderson:
”Weren’t you born in Segal, grew up in Lunghol, and were classmates with the captain?
”Then you should also be a believer of the ‘God of Knowledge and Wisdom’, wouldn’t it be more appropriate and effective for you to perform that ceremony?”
Anderson shook his head and laughed:
”Again, as believers, there are only a very small number of them who can actually get a response.”
He thought about it as if he was thinking:
”The best way is still to seek the help of the priests and bishops of the Church of Knowledge and ask them to make some charms, hmmm, I remember that there are a few missionaries from Lemberg in Port Berens, why don’t we go visit tomorrow ……”
Daniz was about to open his mouth to answer “yes” when he suddenly revealed a suspicious expression:
”I always feel that you seem to have a plot ……”
Anderson’s expression froze for a moment.
……
On the airship, Klein was wearing a seatbelt, covered with a blanket, leaning against the back of the chair, and had already fallen into a deep sleep.
At this time, outside the window, the night was dark, the earth’s lights were sparse, the scenery seemed to be slowly but quickly swept back, everything seemed so peaceful and calm.
I don’t know how long it took, but Klein suddenly woke up and moved his neck.
–He had been drinking a lot of water because of the Deathstroke he was wearing, and was awakened by a bulge in his lower abdomen.
Lifting the blanket and unbuckling his seatbelt, Klein covered his mouth with a yawn and walked outside the lounge to the washroom located in the corner of the hall.
Having painfully solved his problem and cleaned his hands, he had just turned to walk out of the washroom and back down the hall when he suddenly saw a figure.
The silhouette stood in the dim light, dressed in dark, ghostly robes and wearing blue eye shadow and blush, and at first glance, it looked like a spectral ghost floating out of a morgue.
Ms. Daley …… Klein undoubtedly recognized the other woman, and immediately reacted with startled surprise.
Daley took a few steps, looked up into Dawn Dantes’ face, lingered at those eyes, and sketched a smile as she said:
”You have the eyes and temperament of a friend of mine, especially the eyes.”
Klein instantly pretended to be relieved and said with a lost smile:
”Ma’am, if we switched genders, this would be a standard pickup line.”
Daley’s gaze didn’t move away and he chuckled:
”No need to switch, gender doesn’t change the definition of this behavior.
”If any other time I spoke to you like that, it would really be an attempt to trick you into bed, or even all the way into church.
”But I don’t have that in mind right now, and I only came over here because your eyes do remind me of him.”
It’s a bit overwhelming to have a conversation with Ms. Daley …… can’t let her take the initiative, or she might perceive that Dawn Dantes isn’t a playboy with a wide range of hobbies and a master of flirting, but rather an inexperienced person who would be uncomfortable in the presence of an attractive woman …… I must take the initiative and dominate the conversation …… Klein’s thoughts turned, and in a half-joking gesture he asked directly:
”Ma’am, do you like that friend?”
Daley was stunned for a second, raised her eyebrows and smiled down:
”It’s not something to hide.
”If only he could be like you, brave enough to take the initiative in the face of women, knowing how to create an ambiguous atmosphere, in that case, we might even have a child.
”Unfortunately, he is a conservative person, and I chat only will talk about business to talk about experience, slightly give him some hints, open some over the top jokes, he will show very uncomfortable, always looking for excuses to leave, he grows old, hair maintenance is not good, memory and poor, even my birthday can be forgotten, think of him, I’m very angry, I can not wait to directly push him to the bed, tie his hands to the parapet at the foot of the bed ……”
Klein interrupted with a sigh as he looked at the top of Daley’s head with a sultry gaze:
”Ma’am, you talk too much.”
Daley lifted her head and said with a smile not much different from a moment ago:
”I thought you were going to have an in-depth conversation about that.”
Klein chuckled:
”Then why haven’t you put those ideas into action, I can see that you’re not just a female who talks.”
Daley let out a “heh”:
”You bet.”
Immediately afterward, she nodded:
”Thank you for not calling me harassment.”
As she spoke, she turned her body around and headed back towards the large lounge where the Red Gloves were, and the corner of Klein’s mouth quirked up slightly as he shook his head and walked towards his cabin.
Arriving at the entrance to the large lounge, Daley’s eyes fell to the floor in front of her and suddenly saw a pair of untied leather shoes.
Her gaze then shifted upward, her eyes reflecting Leonard Mitchell with his dark hair and green pupils.
Leonard glanced over at the lounge where Dawn Dantes had entered and lowered his voice:
”He’s got quite a few secrets, it’s not that simple.”
Daley nodded with a soft smile:
”I know.”
With that said, she crossed Leonard Mitchell at an easy pace and walked into the large lounge.
A few meters forward, she slowed her pace and once again buried her head slightly lower.
Leonard remained standing in the doorway, looking out at the light illuminating the elongated shadows and exhaling slowly and silently.
Inside the small lounge, Klein stood by the door, raising his right hand and rubbing both temples as if he were a statue.
……
Silver City, Berg’s house.
Derek sat on a stool, nibbling on a loaf of bread baked from blacktop grass powder while carefully mentally exemplifying what he should have done but hadn’t lately:
”The information Mr. ‘World’ needs on ‘Trickster Evil Monsters’ hasn’t been asked for yet …… Sequence 5 Vampire Extraordinary Characteristic Merit is still quite a ways off …… There are only three friends, not enough …… The matter of the former chief’s mausoleum is also only a little clue ……”
Thoughts flashed one by one in the middle, Derek filled his stomach, took off his shirt, took out an open container made of polished stone, and used the viscous black liquid inside to smear up one bruise visible to the naked eye on the surface of his body.
Although there was only black-faced grass available for consumption around Silver City, there was not just one type of plant, they were diverse and strange, relying on various abilities to survive and reproduce in an environment where there was no sun but only lightning and darkness, and one of the traditions of Silver City was to select different plants to be boiled down to make a variety of ointments in conjunction with the corresponding organs of monsters, which was very effective in treating most injuries and illnesses, so that most of the inhabitants wouldn’t lose their lives because of a small problem.
–This is a tradition formed by generations of “Demon Hunters”, who have continuously simplified and fixed the recipes of magical potions, holy ointments, and essential oils that they have obtained through magic potions into lower level products!
After applying the ointment and smelling the slightly pungent fishy odor, Derek was just about to put on his clothes when he suddenly heard a knock on the door.
Instinctively, he tensed up and grabbed his “Thor’s Roar”, a giant blue hammer wreathed in electricity, and cautiously approached the door, ready to slay the monster that had emerged from the darkness.
”Who?” Derek asked in a deep voice.
A slightly raspy voice came from outside:
”Valer.”
At the same time, patches of bright light illuminated the doorways and windows, the power of the Dawn Knight.
Derek relaxed and opened the door in greeting:
”Valer, aren’t you leading a patrol today?”
Valer, who was two meters two tall, was Derek’s newest friend, and also his most recognized friend, as the other party would often restrain his power to a greater extent, and was a person who took good care of his companions.
Additionally, it was Valere’s squad that had recently patrolled the area including the former Chief’s mausoleum.
Valere, who had brownish hair similar to Derek’s, a thick beard, and whose favorite activity was fighting people, smiled at his words:
”The ‘Council of Six’ just ordered our squad to bypass the area where the former Chief’s mausoleum is located, and this is the last place left on our patrol mission.
”Let’s go, go to the training grounds, and get moving!”
”The Council of Six purposely told the patrol squad to bypass that area? They’ll be able to open the door to the former chief’s tomb today? I wonder what will happen …… I hope there’s no conspiracy on Elder Lovia’s side …… Derek was creeped out, jerking a bit of a connection, but not sure what he could do about it.
Just as he hesitantly put on his clothes and prepared to head out the door and join Valer on the training grounds, a figure grew out of a shadowy part of the street and spoke:
”Derek Berg, the Chief wants you to meet him at the Dome.”
