Part 4 The Undead Chapter 203: “The Rendezvous”
Anderson, who was enjoying the cheese tapioca bread, looked up at Daniz and nodded as if in thought:
”I don’t know why, but I don’t really want to leave Sibirang, haha, since we’ve all come here, as a treasure hunter, how can I go back without any harvest?
”That vast jungle is full of gold, jewelry, antiques, and perhaps magical items within the various abandoned temples just waiting to be rescued!”
Daniz skimmed his mouth and gulped down the rest of the “Guadal” in his cup.
It was a drink made from West Byron’s specialty berries, orange in color and sweet and sour, quenching thirst and containing some caffeine to combat fatigue and clear the mind.
Putting the cup away, he picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth before Daniz let out a “heh” and said:
”Always thought you were up to something.”
”I wish I was.” Anderson didn’t mind at all as he laughed.
What he used to go with his breakfast was coffee.
In East and West Byron, there were multiple sources of quality coffee, with a reputation only a little worse than the Highland Coffee in Feneport, the Highland Coffee in the Southern Continent, and the Fellmer’s Coffee in the Pas River Valley near the Star Plateau.
Without waiting for Daniz to say anything else, Anderson said with a smile:
”Isn’t this actually great? I’ll provide protection for free, and you’ll be my translator, so everyone gets the benefit.”
Thinking about the fact that he was still only a Sequence 7 and was wanted by one power after another, Daniz actually inexplicably felt that Anderson’s words were somewhat reasonable.
He coughed lightly and said:
”But at some point, I’ll ask you to recuse yourself.”
”If you say ‘please’, I have no problem with that.” Anderson said with a flourish of relaxation.
Daniz whirled around and donned his cloak, walking towards the hotel doors, ready to begin the day’s investigation.
On the way, he suddenly blurted out:
”Have you ever had an experience like this? From time to time, I dream of an angel descending and wrapping itself in layers of feathers.
”No, not only dreams, but also occasional visions of the same when awake.”
Anderson glanced at the gloves Danez was wearing, and after a few seconds of contemplation, flashed a smile and said:
”Are you a believer in some hidden being?
”Or have come into contact with something ancient?”
Daniz’s expression stiffened and he forced a smile and said:
”If it was as simple as you say, I would have guessed the reason long ago!”
As he spoke, he brushed past the three men coming in at the inn’s front door and walked out.
Anderson was in the habit of sizing up passersby and confirming his surroundings, so, casually glancing at the three men, he noticed that they were a master and two servants, the master was tall, with a brownish complexion, soft features, seemed to be a mix of Byrones and Ruins, and dressed in a more Northern Continent style – silk bowler hat, black formal dress with a gold-encrusted walking stick.
One of the two servants was a standard native, seemingly from the plantation, helping his master with a spare cane and leather trunk, and the other was also of mixed blood, with a fleshy face, loose clothing, and a bayonet at his waist, as if he were also acting as a bodyguard.
Anderson withdrew his eyes without much concern and followed Danitz out into the street.
He pointed with interest to the coffins, either horse-drawn or man-carried, in various shapes and sizes, and said:
”Want to try this one?
”It’s fun, and after you get used to it, you’ll think that death isn’t something to be feared, and you might be able to push the lid off and get back on your feet sometime.”
Daniz squinted at the strange vehicles and shook his head without hesitation:
”As a pirate, one more or less has to believe in the ‘Lord of Storms’ and avoid certain things, among which is staying away from coffins.”
”I’m different, there’s nothing to avoid.” Anderson casually took a couple of ‘Delicacies’ out and bought a couple of newspapers from the newsboys hawking along the street.
It had to be said that in terms of the newsboy system, the major cities of the southern continent were no worse than the northern continent, after all, labor was cheaper and there were more children who needed to subsidize their families.
While walking towards the street corner, looking for carriages targeting foreigners, Daniz took a newspaper from Anderson and quickly flipped through it.
Suddenly, he noticed a news story:
”…… Famous pirate, self-proclaimed ‘Admiral of Hell’ Ludwell has been killed by the mad adventurer Germaine Sparrow, whose ‘Black Tulip ‘ and the entire fleet were taken over by Mirella, the self-proclaimed ‘Messenger of Death’ ……”
”This ……” Daniz’s mouth opened a little bit and didn’t close for half a day.
He finally understood why Germain Sparrow wanted his own Little Mind Order people!
This madman had actually taken out Ludwell, the head of the seven pirate generals!
After ten or so seconds, Daniz handed that newspaper to Anderson next to him with a dull expression:
”Look at this.”
With a smile on his face, Anderson took the newspaper and skimmed through it with great speed.
After a short silence, he whistled and chuckled heatedly:
”That guy should have a new nickname.
”Pirate General Nemesis!”
Not daring to nod, Daniz turned to emotion:
”When I first met him, although I already thought he was scary, I never thought he would be scary to this extent at all.”
At this moment, he recalled the time when he tried to recruit Germaine Sparrow as a sailor on the Golden Dream.
Inside the hotel they had just left, Klein had checked into a deluxe room and stood at the window, looking down at the two “hunters” who were not walking seriously.
Rubbing the nail on his sleeve, he spread out his letterhead and put pen to paper:
”…… I tentatively suspect that what possesses Ince Zangwill is an evil spirit from the ‘Hunter’ pathway, and you may want to investigate more in that direction.
”…… Enclosed with this letter is a copy of the extraordinary traits of the ‘Requiemist,’ which originated with a poor man who was herded, and whom I set free, and promised to return his traits to the Church of Darkness. ”
……
East Byron, Leonard, who was just getting ready for the morning meeting, suddenly saw the angelic messenger carrying four blonde, red-eyed heads appear before him.
This has been numb he took the incoming letter, opened it and looked at it, a little stunned that it contained an item as bright as the night.
”This is ……” Leonard vaguely understood a little bit what the item actually was, and busily unfolded the letter paper and read through it.
After twenty seconds or so, he sighed slowly and muttered silently to himself:
”It really is an extraordinary characteristic.
”Klein is still very friendly to the Church, to the ‘Night Watchers’……”
Quite pleased, he took out two small transparent worms with links that had died, and directly utilized that envelope to enclose them, summoning Gelman Sparrow’s messenger once again and handing it over to the other party, accompanied by a gold coin.
Having done this, Leonard loosened the topmost button of his shirt, stepped out of his room, and proceeded to the underground.
On the way, he met Daley Simone.
Daley, who was still dressed as a “psychic”, looked ahead and asked very naturally:
”What are the new clues?”
”…… suspected evil spirits in the path of the ‘Hunter’.” Leonard was silent for two seconds, and finally chose not to hide on this matter.
Daley nodded her head imperceptibly, thoughtfully:
”That likely possesses a provocative instinct and will actively leave us clues along the way, though of course, that may contain a certain amount of misdirection.”
……
Knock, knock, knock, there was a knock on the door to the captain’s cabin of the Blue Avenger.
”Come in.” Alger put down the brass sextant in his hand and said in a quiet voice.
A sailor opened the door, glanced back, and hesitantly entered the room at the urging of several of his companions, clasping his right fist and striking his left breast in a salute:
”Storm above!”
Waiting for Alger to respond, he `faced and piled on a smile and said:
”Captain, lately quite a few pirates, and sailors from merchant ships have been saying that they have rummaged through the ruins of Banshee Harbor and found some valuable items, even gold.
”We don’t seem to have any particularly important mission recently, everyone is thinking, thinking about going to Bansi again on the way, that kind of a prosperous harbor, even if it’s been searched multiple times, there should still be a lot of things left ……”
Alger listened without expression and said after several seconds of silence:
”I can understand your feelings, how about this, we’ll sail towards Bansi harbor, but without a predetermined purpose, and if nothing else happens on the way, we’ll stay there for a day.”
”All right, Captain.” The sailor said excitedly, once again shaking his right fist and striking his left breast, “The storm is with you.”
”The storm is with you.” Alger watched his men leave and closed the door to the room.
He then, as if nothing had happened, neither joyfully nor angrily, poured a glass of Lie Lanzi and slowly sipped it.
Everything that happened just now was actually within his expectation, because the news that someone had found valuable items in the ruins of Banshee Harbor was spread by him in disguise.
As the “captain” of the Storm Church, he was always under the supervision of the sailors, and after having already been to Bansi once, proposing to go there again would easily be suspected, so Alger decided to let the crew request it themselves!
That way, even if something was found or encountered in Bansi harbor, no one would suspect him as the captain.
And for the sailors, especially those who had just finished squandering their money in Byam, Alger knew very well what rumors were the most tempting and what news would make their hearts flutter the most.
In addition, the “Blue Avenger” in Bayam also stayed long enough, not to leave, also suspicious.
As for the matter of monitoring the “craftsman” Sharf, naturally handed over to the “hidden” Gadelia – by the Aurora Club “investigation “The pirate general and her “future ship” will be wandering in the Rothschild waters in the near future, where there is said to be an important stronghold of the Moss Ascetic Order.
Finishing his strong drink, Alger put down his glass, looked out the window at the undulating sea, and spat out a word in a low voice:
”Banshee ……”
……
Considering that it was late June and that Will Onsettin might be born at some point, Klein took a break and then went above the gray mist to bring the radio receiver into the real world, cautioning himself that he could only ask two questions at most.
The unoperated radio receiver in the dark, cold room of Horan made a clattering sound on its own.
