Part 4 The Undead Chapter 86 A Reminder
Klein’s eyes then flicked away from Lady Velma Gladys to the desserts of carrot cake and creamy muffins next to them, as well as the food of roasted baby chickens, braised lamb, pan-seared rib-eye steaks, and Dixie’s specialty grilled fish that weren’t much farther away from them.
He swallowed with a very small amplitude and forced himself to pull his eyes back, ready to invite Lady Mary to a second dance.
–As the host, the first three dances could not be missed, so he could only make himself forget about his hunger and the food over there for a while.
And by this time, Velma Gladys, whose stomach was already very obvious, walked over to where the cups of ice cream were set out, stretched out her hand, and retracted it.
”Want some?” Her husband, Dr. Allen, didn’t go to the first dance and remained next to his pregnant wife.
Velma Gladys shook her head gravely:
”No, I don’t want any, I’m a pregnant woman and it’s not good to eat ice cream.
”But the little one in my tummy seems to want to taste a little, just a little.”
Dr. Allen nodded his head imperceptibly and said:
”Then taste a little, and give me the rest.”
Velma instantly broke into an uncontrollable smile:
”You are so spoiling the child!”
She didn’t object and watched as her husband picked up a cup of globular ice cream from its icy surroundings.
After enjoying a couple of bites, Velma closed her eyes and jerked her gaze away to look at the few ladies who hadn’t gone to the first dance, to find them exchanging whispers about something, smiles on their faces and ambiguous expressions, occasionally covering their mouths with their palms and snickering.
What interesting things were they talking about? Velma was instantly curious, and after greeting her husband Alan, she walked over to that side.
However, the ladies quickly dispersed, seemingly waiting for the second dance.
With a pang of disappointment, Velma said to the only beautiful lady who stayed where she was:
”Do you know what they were talking about?”
”I’m not interested in what they were talking about.” Hazel said as she glanced at the pregnant woman beside her.
She didn’t accuse the other woman of being a bit rude with her question, as pregnant ladies were always somewhat privileged.
It was then that Velma noticed Hazel with her long dark green hair holding a glass of champagne and looking like she didn’t want to be asked to dance.
She has a kind of pride from the bottom of her heart, even when she looks at the baroness, she only maintains the most basic courtesy …… This is a character that people like, but the problem is that she is like this to everyone, and it is too cold …… Maybe she is in the “rebellious period” proposed by Rossel the Great. Maybe she’s in the middle of what Roselle the Great calls the “rebel phase”? As a member of the high school faculty, Velma couldn’t help but make a few comments in her mind, and then knowingly distanced herself from Hazel in search of familiar ladies and gentlemen to chat with.
After the opening three dances, Klein finally got a short break to stuff himself with food and drink a cup of thirst-quenching sweet iced tea with ice cubes – a Dixie specialty he’d asked the kitchen to prepare.
He’d had a little too much to drink due to the effects of the Deathstroke revolver, and after only a few moments of small talk with Bishop Elektra, he apologized and left for the washroom.
In fact, he could still hold at least three dances, but he felt that the “serpent of destiny” Will Onsettin suddenly came to the door, perhaps want to communicate with him, so he took the initiative to look for a suitable uninhabited environment.
Although K is an unborn fetus, it is passive, but if K does not want to see me, there are at least a hundred ways to prevent K’s mother to go out of the house …… Anyway, first try …… Klein grunted as he went into the washroom and unlocked the door.
He was debating whether to tackle the bulge in his lower abdomen first, or wait patiently for a minute or two, when inspiration struck and he instantly looked into the washroom mirror.
The mirror at some point has reflected a black baby carriage, the car deep shadow, so that people can not see the specific details, can only know that there is a child wrapped in silver silk.
The child said in a clear voice:
”There has been a slight shift in your destiny.”
”What happened?” Klein’s spirits tightened for a moment.
Will Onsettin, in his infantile state, snorted and said:
”That must be asked of yourself!
”All I can tell is that you should have met an angel.”
Klein asked with a frown after a few seconds of thought, remembering what had happened on that pristine island and the guess he had made:
”Can an angel tell what’s special about me?
”I’ve seen the orange light, and K told me that only a few, high-ranking creatures of the spirit world, as well as a certain number of deities with unique powers and extraordinary beings representing destiny can detect this to varying degrees, and they have to have been in close contact.”
Will Onsettin in the stroller sucked his thumb and smiled:
”It shouldn’t be, because you’re not dangerous.
”And, besides the fact that you are special, some of the items on your person and your companion may be equally special and could be of interest to the One.”
Some items on my person and my companion …… Klein’s thoughts turned and he realized that he might have actually been hinted at before, plus he really hadn’t thought about it either, so he had missed one thing:
When exploring the primitive islands, he carried with him The Travels of Grocer!
This was a book produced by the ancient god, the “Dragon of Imagination”, Anglewild!
If the primitive island is really related to the Hermits of the Twilight, whether the depths of the church is the “audience” path of angels with the “storm” path of high sequential material, or vice versa, k should be interested in this book, after all, the leader of this organization is probably the The leader of the organization is probably the “Angel of Thoughts”, the Son of God, Adam! It is because of this travelogue that I was allowed to take away the “Tyrant” card and prevented me and Mr. “Inverted Man” from exploring further? Klein spoke speculatively:
”How is this going to be resolved?”
”It doesn’t have to be solved, it should be a good thing in the long run, but there will be a lot of trouble in between.” Will Onsettin said in a clear voice, “And you’re already burdened with quite a few things yourself, one more won’t really matter, I’m just reminding you so you can pay more attention so you don’t get knocked down by the trouble.”
…… It makes sense, more debt is not a worry, and it might even create an opportunity for the debtors to fight …… After thinking carefully, Klein echoed in his heart.
He turned to ask:
”My friend who wants to obtain a drop of mythical creature blood wishes to know, what exactly do you need?”
”Need what?” Will Onsettin snorted again, “I need a lot of things, such as a way to accommodate the ‘Dice of Probability’, such as helping me take out that Urolius guy, and if it can really be done, you can draw a few tubes of blood if you want! But can it be done?”
If it can be done, why take the risk of taking out Urolius? Wouldn’t it be better to just deal with your weak “Serpent of Destiny”? Kraven shook his head without a doubt as he made a mental note:
”I can’t.”
”Then think of something else, I’m not in a hurry.” Will Onsettin paused and said, “There’s something wrong with that very high-spirited young girl at the ball tonight, if you get a chance to talk to her, you can steer the conversation towards the dreaming side of things.”
Hazel? The dream world? Klein nodded thoughtfully and said:
”Good.”
Seeing that Will Onsettin seemed to have the intention of leaving, he said in a hurry:
”That Thousand Paper Cranes is about to break, what method will I use to contact you in the future in case of an emergency?”
Will Ansettine was silent for a while and said:
”Do you expect me to fold a thousand paper cranes for you in my mother’s stomach? Even if I could fold them, you wouldn’t be able to reach them!
”If I want to find you, I can anytime in my dreams, as long as you still live here.
”If you have an urgent matter, just come and visit my father! Wouldn’t it take a long time to wait with a thousand paper cranes?
”Well, as an unborn fetus, it’s time for me to catch up on my sleep, we’ll talk about anything later.”
Klein had to nod his head:
”If you have nothing else.”
Will Onsettin’s figure, which was about to dissipate, suddenly paused, and only said after a two-second interval:
”There is one more thing.”
”What thing?” Klein’s spirit tightened again.
Will Onsettin said with an “Eh”:
”Your chef’s ice cream is too sweet ……”
Huh? Klein briefly missed what the other man was saying, and it wasn’t until the black stroller disappeared into the sink mirror that he realized something, and the corners of his mouth twitched.
After addressing the bulge in his lower abdomen, he washed his hands and headed out the door, found his valet, Richardson, and instructed:
”Go to the kitchen and tell them to lower the sweetness of the follow-up ice cream a bit.”
Richardson didn’t ask why and immediately complied until he was almost into the kitchen when a thought occurred to him:
Mr. Dawn Dantes didn’t seem to have touched the ice cream yet, so why did he know it was on the sweet side?
Richardson had a quick answer to that question, thinking that one of the guests had tasted the ice cream and informed his employer of the problem.
While this was a bit rude, it wasn’t something too uncommon, especially from familiar friends, who would take it upon themselves, kindly, to warn so as not to bring the host of the dance down in popularity.
At this time, since the last dance was still going on, Klein was in no hurry to consider a partner, and walked over to the long table at the edge, ready to grab some more good food.
He had just picked at a piece of Dixie grilled fish ceviche that had few spines when he suddenly saw Velma Gladys leaning over and taking a glass of sweet iced tea.
The lady nodded at the host of the ball and smiled:
”That’s a very nice drink; I’ve never had it before.”
”Sweet iced tea from the south.” Klein explained with a smile, casually glancing at the other woman’s stomach and saying, “He seems to be well behaved, uh, maybe she is.”
Velma chuckled:
”Most of the time, it’s just the occasional ruckus in the middle of the night.”
Middle of the night …… Occasionally …… Wouldn’t be the time to respond to my questions, would it? …… Klein suddenly sweated a little and pretended he hadn’t thought of that, returning his attention to his plate while Velma sipped her sweet iced tea and headed back towards where they had been chatting earlier.
Waiting until a new dance was about to begin, Klein handed his dinner plate and cup to the waiter next to him, looked over at where Hazel was, and slowly walked over, saluting with a smile:
”Miss, do I have the honor to ask you to dance?”
Hazel was silent for a few seconds, placing the glass with champagne in her hand onto the tray in the waiter’s hand and responding politely:
”It would be my honor as well.”
