Part 5 THE RED PRIEST CHAPTER XXIV THE GIFT OF FUNDRAISING
After following Ernest Boyar for some distance in bewilderment, Emlyn gradually had the intention of giving up.
He glanced at the growing rain outside the riding-house and thought with difficulty to contain it:
”How should I punish Ernest? Though he should have followed orders or hints to do the same, it was still abominable!
”As for Lord Nibes …… I am not, at present, capable of that; when I am, when I am a marquis or a duke, I shall certainly make him pay!
”‘Ms. Magician’ has already finished exploring that abandoned ancient castle, and I don’t know if it has been monitored by the bloods sent by Lord Nibais …… From her tone, description, and the ‘Foolish ‘ Mr. Fool’s feedback, it should be no…… Did Lord Nebais not send blood clans around that old castle? But then what was the need to try? Or maybe it was missed because of some problem?”
Between his thoughts, Emlyn felt that he should find someone to discuss how to punish Ernest Boyar, he really lacked similar experience.
Subconsciously, the first candidate that came to his mind was the “Inverted Man”, a senior member of the Tarot Society who was experienced and reliable in a variety of matters, and never let the rest of the members down.
After a few seconds of hesitation, Emlyn dismissed this option, as it would involve the Bloods testing each other internally, and disclosing it to the members of the Tarot before the results were known would be detrimental to his pride and to the image of the Bloods as a whole!
For the same reason, he ruled out “The World” as a candidate.
Of course, he felt he should be able to guess what kind of advice the World would give:
Kill!
There’s no need to go that far. …… Emlyn mumbled in his mind, and expanded his list of candidates to the real world while aimlessly walking behind Ernest Boyar.
Then he realized he didn’t have many available targets; he had few friends.
After excluding his parents, who were also Bloods, there were only two people he could consider, Father Utravski, the priest of the Church of the Harvest, and Sherlock Moriarty, the great detective with many mysterious ways of coming.
”Sherlock has not yet returned from his departure from Birkeland, alas, we can only approach the priest tomorrow, but not so directly ……” Emlyn made a quick decision and crossed over to Ernest Boyar, who had entered the watch store, and walked towards the end of the riding building, where several hired carriages were waiting.
Getting into the carriages and feeling the wheels turn, Emlyn casually cast his eyes to the window and saw more and more rain smashing densely against the glass, dragging trail after trail towards the bottom.
A carriage drove past in his blurred vision.
……
Audrey withdrew her gaze from the rainy scene outside the carriage window, glanced at Anne, the valet, and made silent communication with Susie, who was crouched beside her.
She said with a look, an expression and an inconspicuous body movement:
Almost home, a little nervous.
Susie wagged her tail, raised her paw, and tweaked the gold-rimmed glasses hanging at her neck, combining the color changes at the level of the etheric and mental bodies to express her meaning:
Don’t worry too much, that Ms. Yslante, who is a psychiatrist on the surface but actually only at the level of “mind reader”, can’t figure out your lies.
Audrey nodded slightly and watched as the carriage drove into the Hall family’s luxurious villa and stopped in front of the covered foyer.
Since joining the Ruane Charitable Scholarship Fund, her time at home during the day had become less and less. Originally, she had planned to meet Ms. Yslante of the Psychological Alchemy Society at 22 Pacefield Street in the North End, but since Mr. Dawn Dantes had gone to the South Continent and was away from the Foundation, there was no need for her to do so.
Inside the study that was all hers alone, Audrey met Ms. Yslante Osisleka, who had waist-length black hair and a baby face.
”I’m sorry, after returning to Beckland, I’ve been busy partying with friends, and then I joined the ‘Ruin Charity Scholarship Fund’, so I didn’t meet you until today.” After leaving Suzy outside the door, Audrey gracefully made a bow, showing her attitude.
This was actually her intention, delaying it for almost a month, so that the matter of her digesting the “psychiatrist” magic potion and advancing to “hypnotist” would seem reasonable, and belonged to the progress of a genius rather than a problem.
Yslante returned the greeting without much concern:
”I have heard that you are running around for those children who are eager for knowledge, your virtue shines brighter than diamonds.”
Audrey gestured for the other to sit down while walking over to the single couch and “hmmm”:
”The situation of those children is something I’ve never seen in the past, and there’s always a voice in my heart urging me to do something about it… Ms. Yslante, if you have the time, you can join me, and the staff of the ‘Ruin Charitable Bursary Fund’ to walk around the different schools, and see how most of the world’s children’s conditions.”
Speaking of this, she gave a light laugh, as if mocking herself:
”I’m sorry, I always have a habit of opening up this aspect of the topic lately, because I want more nobles more rich people to participate in this kind of good deed and donate more money to help more children.”
After hearing Audrey’s words, Yslante responded with a slightly uncomfortable feeling:
”I’ll do that, and I’ll also donate some money to the ‘Rune Charity Scholarship Fund’.”
”No, I don’t want to force you to donate, it has to be an absolutely voluntary act from the bottom of your heart, I just want you to visit and then inform those around you, including the members of the Psycho-Alchemy Guild, about the situation of those children and their possible future.” Audrey shook her head and declined Yslante’s offer.
”Good.” Yslante first nodded softly with quite a bit of approval, and then felt that this matter was permeated with an indefinable sense of absurdity:
Miss Audrey’s true intention seemed to be to intend to collect donations from the organization known as the Psychological Alchemy Society.
But this is a hidden transcendent underground organization!
It was not essentially different from collecting donations from the Aurora Society!
Audrey didn’t discuss the matter of the “Rune Charity Scholarship Fund” and said:
”Ms. Yslante, I have something to tell you.”
”What?” Yslante “read” from the other party’s emotions and movements, such as solemnity, joy and pride.
Audrey smiled lightly and said:
”I have become a ‘hypnotist’.”
”……” At this moment, Yslante suspected that she had been hypnotized by the other party.
Although she knew that Ms. Audrey had gotten the ‘Hypnotist’ magic potion formula before, but how long had it been?
”You should be able to confirm that I’m not lying.” Audrey smiled slightly.
It was only then that Yslante returned to his senses and asked with surprise and suspicion:
”You seem to have had an unusual encounter?”
”Just the courage to apply.” Audrey said something that couldn’t have been more true.
Yslante frowned slightly and hesitantly said:
”You want the Sequence 5 magic potion formula?”
”Yes. What do I need to do or pay?” Audrey did not hide her purpose.
Yslante glanced at the beautiful blonde lady across from him and said with deliberation:
”It’s not something I can decide, I’ll report back and arrange for you to meet with Hilbert and Stephen as soon as possible.”
She was referring to Hilbert Alucard, a psychologist and jewelry designer, and Stephen Humphreys, a furniture dealer.
Obviously, in their group of members of the Psychological Alchemy Society, Yslante was in a subordinate position.
Audrey was unsurprised by Yslante’s reaction, but that didn’t mean that the other party was handling it without problems:
A Sequence 6 Extraordinary who aspired to promotion was a valued member of any secretive organization, even the Church of God, and was qualified to meet directly with the higher-ups!
In other words, after being promoted to “Hypnotist”, Audrey already belonged to the elite of the middle level of the Psychological Alchemy Society, and her next step was to become a quasi-high level member, so the people she needed to meet should be the members of the Psychological Alchemy Society’s panel of judges, rather than Hilbert and Stephen and the others.
Between flashes of thoughts, Audrey deliberately released a bit of displeasure.
Yslante keenly captured this signal and hurriedly explained:
”The meeting with Hilbert and Stephen is to confirm your status, after that, there will be a certain commissioner who will talk to you.
”In fact, with your current rank, you should have led a group and developed members down the line, but your status, position and daily environment made us cancel this plan for fear of affecting your usual life.”
Member …… I wonder how many members there are of the Convocation of the Society of Mental Alchemy in Berkland …… Could it be that royal advisor, Mr. Hwyn Lambeth? Audrey nodded thoughtfully and said:
”I can understand that, and will await your arrangements.”
She whirled around and digressed, her eyes turning slightly inquisitively as she asked:
”Ms. Yslante, do you know what the Sequence 5 magic potion of the ‘audience’ pathway is called?”
Seeing that the blonde noble lady in front of her unconsciously revealed a girlish stance, Yslante wordlessly sighed in relief and said:
”I heard Hilbert mention it once, it’s called ‘Dreamwalker’.”
”Dreamwalker”…… This is a bit different from what I imagined ah, or this ‘dream’ is just a substitute, the exact term should be subconscious walker? Audrey did not hide the fact that she was thinking and analyzing, and then directed the conversation to various knowledge in the field of psychology.
After leaving Yslante with dinner, she escorted the lady out of the foyer and boarded the carriage.
By now, the night was deep and dark outside, the wind was howling and the rain was falling.
……
Amidst the clattering rain, howling winds, and deep darkness of the night, a passenger ship with a mixture of sails and steam was traveling within the safe channel of the Berserk Sea.
Klein had left the southern continent and was heading back toward Dixie Bay in the likeness of Dawn Dantes.
As the ship rocked, he awoke suddenly, rolled out of bed, and went to the window of the first-class parlor, peering out.
A huge three-masted schooner covered in pure black sailed silently through the rain-splattered depths of the night.
It had one horse light after another hanging from its sides, and was nearly a hundred meters long, suspended by three sides of pitch-black canvas.
And on the deck, back against the cabin position, stood a two or three meters high mottled stone chair, at this time no one is seated.
This is the “black emperor ship”, this is the “king of the five seas” nast symbol, “black emperor ship”!
