Part 5 The Red Priestess Chapter 180 “The Unexpected”
After bringing the log-colored, nothing-special cane back to the real world from above the gray mist, Klein immediately began the ritual.
He lit the candles, burned the appropriate essential oils and herbal powders, took two steps back, skillfully whispered the goddess’s honored name, and concluded:
”I offer this cane, filled with the power of life, to you, and may it receive your favor.”
He didn’t mention the flocculated heart of the Demon Wolf of the Mist or the White Frost Crystals directly, so that he would be engaging in a quid pro quo exchange rather than offering the item and praying for a blessing.
–Every other aspect of the ceremony could be done without too much detail, but this fundamental attitude issue was something that Klein thought still needed some attention.
As Klein’s words came to an end, two of the three candle flames swelled up and intertwined, forming an illusory and shadowy mysterious door.
The door slowly opened, bringing up strong invisible winds.
They swept up the “Staff of Life” and let it pass through the gap of the illusory door, disappearing into a scene that looked like an infinite starry sky.
Immediately afterward, in a flash of light, two things penetrated the barrier and landed on the altar without making a sound.
One of them was a strange heart wrapped in silky white mist, and the other was a Frost Crystal that emitted a cold aura.
Klein’s heart rejoiced and he was busy bowing his head to thank the goddess for her blessings.
When he raised his head again, the dark and mysterious gate had already closed and was fading fast, and the altar area was completely restored to normal.
Whew, it really worked …… Klein breathed a sigh of relief and took two steps forward, putting away the flocculated heart of the Demon Wolf of Mist and the White Frost Crystals.
At this time, the relaxed man couldn’t help but flash through some thoughts that he absolutely couldn’t say out loud:
”If I had known that it would go so smoothly, I actually didn’t have to use the ‘Cane of Life’ ……
”I’ve got such a big pile of clutter, maybe that’s enough too ……
”Maybe if I offer nothing, the goddess will grant it, and the way things are going right now suggests that k itself is in favor of me becoming an ‘Ancient Scholar’ ……
”Of course, that would be too much of a gift to receive, and I don’t know what it would cost me in the future, so it would be more reassuring to trade for the ‘Cane of Life’ ……
”Hmm, so it seems that the Goddess should still favor me until I advance to Sequence 2 and obtain the Angelic Bit, after that it’s hard to tell what kind of developments and changes will occur ……”
Thinking of this, Klein collected his thoughts, ended the ceremony, and packed up the altar.
Then, he began to plan how to deal with the so-called “Guardian of the Source Castle”, the “Dog of Fugen”.
”A magician does not perform without preparation.
……
The south side of the bridge, Moonflower Street.
Leonard changed into a black-and-white checkered police uniform, wore “red gloves”, led the squad members and real police officers, and arrived at the only church of the Mother Earth Church in Birkeland.
The epaulette he wore corresponded to a senior inspector, but in reality, with his serial rank and the identity of the “Red Gloves” squad leader, he should be equal to the superintendent of police, or even the chief superintendent of police, but police officers at that level are not very likely to go out on this kind of mission, and wearing the corresponding epaulette to the Church of the Harvest would easily arouse the suspicion of the public.
Through the gate, Leonard swept his eyes and found the place empty, only two figures, one is sitting in the front row, concentrating on praying, like a small mountain of Bishop Fossack, and the second is wearing clerical clothes, black hair and red eyes, and is cleaning up the ground of the handsome man.
Emlyn White …… Leonard nodded darkly and made his way down the aisle, all the way to Bishop Utravski.
He then coughed lightly twice, causing the half-giant bishop to open his eyes and look over.
”I’m a senior inspector of the Birkeland Police Department.” Leonard showed his credentials and said, “There is something that requires you to return to assist in the investigation.”
Father Utravski slowly stood up and asked in a condescending but calm tone:
”What is it?”
”The neighborhood has reported you for unusual behavior, possibly a spy for Forsak or Feneport.” Leonard said the reason he had made up long ago.
At the same time, he was prepared to force Bishop Utrafsky into his dream, and once the other party resisted, he tried to control this family member in a very short period of time.
With the configuration of the “Red Gloves” team, as long as they didn’t directly encounter a true demigod, even if they faced a family member who was in charge of a holy relic, they were still quite certain to take down the opponent.
Moreover, before Leonard left, he also applied for a level 1 seal, which was also the reason why he delayed his action until today.
Father Utravski was silent for two seconds, and looked sideways at Emlyn White, who was standing beside the candlestick.
Emlyn’s slightly complicated expression froze a little, and he opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say.
Father Utravski withdrew his gaze and nodded slightly:
”Good.”
…… So cooperative? I thought I would be experiencing an unusually fierce battle, and had to be quite careful not to cause casualties …… Leonard was stunned for a moment, then revealed a smile and said:
”Thank you for your cooperation.”
If a battle that harmed the Earth Mother Goddess’s dependents did occur, Leonard suspected that the already tense situation would change drastically.
Through the ancient history he had learned within Grosel’s Travels, the various hidden secrets he had known at the Tarot, and the corresponding explanations from old man Palles, he understood that the current relationship between the Church of the Earth Mother Goddess and the Church of the Darkness was like sun-dried wood, which could be ignited with just a little bit of a spark, and that when the time came, the history books would record today’s events in such a way:
The spark that turned the war from localized to full-scale!
Leonard Mitchell lit the religious powder keg!
Hoo …… saw Father Utravsky did not resist, accepting the “custodial protection”, Emlyn White also secretly relieved, very satisfied with his own performance in the Tarot meeting.
At this time, Cindy, a member of the Red Glove Squad, looked at Emlyn, who was not masculine enough to have a soft sense of moonlight, and lowered her voice:
”Team, uh, chief, there’s a cleric, want to take him along? Uh, by the way, keep the Church of the Harvest closed for a while before anything happens.”
”……” Emlyn.
”……” Leonard.
After an interval of several seconds and much deliberation, Leonard finally spoke:
”If the espionage case involves Fennebot, he is also not a small suspect, ask him to go back together to assist in the investigation.”
Emlyn froze there, not knowing what expression to respond with.
……
East End, inside a two-bedroom rental house.
Foerth rubbed the darkened circles under his eyes, took the last sip of his bitter coffee, and jerked to his feet, beginning to change into his going-out clothes.
”Write up?” Hugh, who was enjoying his breakfast, said in bewilderment.
It had only been a day and a half!
Forsyth shook his head and took a deep breath:
”No.
”But I’ve written the first part, so I can give it to the editor of the newspaper to have a look at it; if I do a serial, there’s no need to write it all now.”
Hugh thought for a moment:
”That’s really a good way to take the pressure off you.”
Forsyth’s expression twisted for a moment and he closed his eyes:
”I hope so. ……”
……
A few blocks away, in another rental house, after a period of busy, well planned and prepared, Klein put on the “writhing hunger”, the body quickly transparent, into the spirit world.
Looking up at the seven different colors of pure light covering the high place, Klein let go of the arms of the two secret puppets, took out a box, lifted the surface of the “spiritual wall”, so that the breath of the flocculated heart of the Demon Wolf of the Mist inside could be transmitted.
Then, he pulled the secret puppet En Yuni, and the secret puppet En Yuni pulled the secret puppet Qunas, the three of them as one, and rapidly teleported to the depths of the spirit world.
Along the way, all sorts of strange spirit world creatures passed by them, as if a painting depicting hell.
After an unknown amount of time like this, Klein’s premonition of danger was suddenly touched, and a scene was quickly sketched out within his mind:
Where the colors of red, black, white, and blue were thickly overlaid, a slender figure emerged extremely abruptly.
It was shaped like a hound, covered in short black hair, the location of the eye sockets were two burning, dark red flames, the corners of the mouth extended all the way to the back of the head, obviously existed there as a solid entity, but it gave people a feeling that it was unreal and not real enough.
Fugen’s Dog!
Klein immediately turned around and faced that direction.
He simultaneously let go of the two secret puppets, letting each of them wander to a different place.
An instant later, the Dog of Fugen appeared.
The not too monstrous but absolutely terrifying monster’s two dark red flames turned and looked towards Klein.
Immediately afterward, its figure became more and more illusory and disappeared in an instant, seemingly just a projection from history.
”…… It just ran away?” Klein muttered to himself in dismay in his heart while becoming even more vigilant in preventing a surprise attack that might come.
A dozen seconds later, in that original position, two figures were outlined at the same time, both of which were Dogs of Fugen covered in black fur, with eye sockets ablaze, and mouths split to the back of their heads.
However, at the eye sockets of each of these two monsters, there was only a dark red flame left, and the other one was in their claws.
Without waiting for Klein to react, these two Dogs of Fugen slumped down in the void of the spirit world and wagged their tails.
Wagged their tails.
”……” Klein’s mouth was half-open, doubting he was dreaming.
