Part 6 Lightseeker Chapter 2 “Mistakes”
Hearing Klein’s reply, Amon smiled and shook his head, asking casually as he probed and pulled open the door to the room:
”How did you come up with that honorable name?”
”There aren’t many honorific names like this that have some connection to oneself, but also have to avoid being locked by others using the automatic response to prayers.” Seeing that he had already been exposed, there was no need for Klein to hide it, and, moreover, he hoped to grasp a possible opportunity through a similar conversation.
At the same time, thoughts raced through his mind, thinking about how to save himself:
”I am deeply ‘parasitized’, and any thoughts against Amon can easily be sensed and detected by K ……
”It’s Saturday, and almost Monday, if Mr. ‘Fool’ aborts the tarot party without much warning, the other members are bound to be frightened, nervous, and suspicious, and in this case, the one who holds the contact method to the ‘world’ Will definitely try to summon a messenger and ask the reason, and once the messenger lady is close to me, she will be able to discover Amon’s presence, and then, she can use the ‘Yesterday Revisited’ charm to restore her condition at her peak, and k with full angelic strength will have a good chance of rescuing me from Amon’s detachment… …
”The most important thing for me at the moment is to hold on and ‘live’ through these two days!
”By the way, since Amon can’t steal away my destiny right now, why did k try to make a peaceful deal just now? Even if I agreed, k wouldn’t dare to let me travel above the gray mist to do allow ah, that means I’m out of k’s control and can effectively purify and counter the ‘parasites’ with the help of the ‘source fortress’ ……
”Could it be that the ‘permission’ itself is an on/off switch, with no need for a follow-up process?
”Amon deliberately didn’t mention this point ……
”Surely I am being defrauded!”
As Klein grasped a ray of light and decided to delay as long as possible past two days, Amon’s focus remained on the honorific name that neither man nor angel would have expected.
He scratched his chin as he stepped out of the room and said:
”Have you ever offered protection to Becklander’s magic and theater performances?”
I have protected a ‘master juggler’ …… With an intention Klein, who was a lot more cooperative than a moment ago, simply answered:
”I’m a ‘master magician’ myself, and have ‘performed’ many times in Birkeland.”
Amon, wearing a monocle, nodded:
”Barely established.”
With that, he walked out of the hotel room and made his way down the stairs to the street, followed by Klein as if he were a servant with no unusual movements.
Glancing around, Amon pinched his monocle and sighed and laughed:
”What a pity for me.”
”Regret what?” Klein asked, rather puzzled.
I’ve been caught by you, what do you need to regret?
Amon pressed the silk bowler hat on top of his head and kept the same smile he had earlier and said:
”You can take a guess, and if you can guess, I can make your ending a little better.”
Klein didn’t believe K’s promise at all, and in order not to be swindled out of more secrets, he directly shook his head and said:
”Can’t guess.”
”No fun.” Amon gave his assessment briefly, clenched his right hand into a fist, and gently knocked it on the monocle.
An illusory insectoid figure flew out from each of the pedestrians on the street, the trees along the road, the sparrows on the rooftops, the rats in the muddy corners, and the various organisms that could not be seen in the air, attributing them to Amon like stardust.
This Son of God’s bitterness was instantly elevated to the angelic level.
Klein’s left hand was raised, and the human skin glove suddenly became transparent.
This was the opening of “Teleportation”.
–At this moment, only the “writhing hunger” in Klein’s clothing is real, but the rest is made of flesh and blood by utilizing the power of the “Faceless Man” and the glove.
…… Seeing that the “trip” was about to begin, Klein was stunned for a moment and asked offhandedly:
”Why don’t we ‘teleport’ in the room?”
Amon took him out of Beckland was something he expected, after all, here is a king of angels need to have some scruples, but Klein could not understand why the other side would normally open the door, down the stairs, out of the hotel.
The eye behind Amon’s monocle swept over Klein, the corner of his mouth slowly turning upwards as he said:
”I’ve already answered you, it’s a shame that you didn’t ask Palles for help.”
This “Angel of Time” had an obvious smile on his face, but his black eyes were devoid of any emotion, sending chills down Klein’s spine.
He, he’s sure that I’m in contact with Palles Zoroaster …… because of what happened last time? No, stop! Klein tried to get up a meditation, trying to control himself from thinking too much, lest Amon steal away the thoughts.
Amon glanced at the panicked walkers on the street with little concern and looked up at the gray sky:
”We’ll just have to wait for another time, the most important thing now is to get you to that place.”
As he spoke, Klein and Amon’s figures became transparent at the same time and disappeared in front of the inn, while everyone coming and going didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary.
After passing through countless spirit world creatures with indescribable forms and overlapping thick blocks of various colors, Klein and Amon appeared over a sea.
Beneath their feet was a huge gap, where the azure water was cut off and cascaded vertically into the bottomless “darkness”, but it could never be filled.
This is the entrance to the Divine War Ruins.
Klein’s heart stirred and he opened his mouth to ask:
”You’re taking me to the ‘Godforsaken Land’?”
The magnificent “waterfall” was already reflected on Amon’s monocle, and K gently nodded and replied in a casual tone:
”Yes, once you get there, even your messenger won’t be able to sense you through the contractual link.”
There is a clear barrier between the “Godforsaken Land” and the Spirit World, and the only way to connect is to rely on the “Source Fortress”.
…… Amon knows what I intend to do …… Klein’s flame of hope that was just lit up was instantly doused by the cold reality.
He temporarily could not find another way to save himself.
At this time, Amon, who was standing in midair, muttered to himself:
”If it wasn’t for the fact that my mausoleum in Berkland was destroyed by the Steam Church, we could have used the ‘Abyss’ as a jumping off point to go directly over there without all this trouble.”
…… Klein changed the topic with a slight sense of modesty:
”The ‘Abyss’ connects to the ‘Godforsaken Land’?”
”No.” Amon shook his head, looking relieved, “But I can use some of its properties to go anywhere.”
”I’ve heard that there have been some bad changes within the ‘Abyss’.” Klein asked tentatively as his mind wandered.
Amon turned his head sideways and glanced at him, not hiding his curiosity:
”I’m surprised you know.”
”Well, I once thought about exploring the ‘Abyss’.” Klein didn’t say much, fearing that the King of Angels of the Stealer’s Path would find out that he could read Roselle’s diary.
At that moment, Amon suddenly laughed:
”You, exploring the ‘Abyss’?”
”What’s so funny about that?” Klein himself was interested in what had happened in the Abyss, and took this opportunity to cooperate with Amon to try to know more.
As soon as he spoke, he suddenly had a new inspiration:
With the help of his conversation with Amon, he was able to grasp more of the hidden secrets of history, and quietly digested the “Ancient Scholar” magic potion at a very fast speed, to see if he could use it to deepen his control over the “Source Castle”, and get rid of his current predicament.
This thought flashed by, Klein quickly restrained himself, no longer consider similar things.
In response to his question, Amon laughed:
”Your going to the ‘Abyss’ is like a beautifully wrapped gift that was actively delivered to the person who wanted it.”
”…… ‘Dark Side of the Universe’?” Klein was startled at first, then offered a guess thoughtfully.
Amon nodded:
”k Originally the only surviving Ancient God, Demon Monarch Fabuti, now, meh.”
Without finishing his sentence, Amon leapt forward, out of the gusts of wind in mid-air and into the huge, illusory gap.
Klein lost the support of the wind with it and fell straight down.
I don’t know how long it took, but the fountain-like water surged upwards, throwing him and Amon to the other side of the gap.
Just after entering the “God’s War Ruins”, by the bright sunlight, Klein’s ears steeply ringing with a strong meaning of madness murmuring.
It was like thin steel needles that pierced through his eardrums and stabbed into his brain, causing him to be filled with great pain while familiarizing himself with every thought.
The “Spirit Worms” that made up his mythological biological form gradually changed, as if they were about to give birth to a corrupted consciousness that did not belong to him.
The ravings of the “True Creator”!
Kraven was able to resist this, but he could not hold out for long, and was unable to travel too far in the “Relic of God’s War”.
At that moment, he saw the monocle in Amon’s right eye absorb all the light around him, making it unusually bright and white.
Then, thick darkness ruled the sky.
Amon directly stole the daytime of the “Divine War Relic”!
In the darkness, the Angel of Time’s doppelganger took Kraven and landed on an island, letting him sleep against a stone pillar.
Soon, Klein arrived in the gray dream world and saw the black monastery and the epic and mythical projection of the “Court of the Giants” across the cliff.
Amon, wearing a black silk hat and a crystal monocle, appeared beside him and with an easy smile pointed to the projection of the “Court of the Giants”, which was frozen in the twilight, and said:
”There is the entrance to the ‘Godforsaken Land’.”
Klein thought about it and raised his doubts:
”Doesn’t one have to enter the dream realm at a specific location in order to open the entrance?”
He couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope again, thinking that it would have been nice if Amon had wasted a week or two in the ‘Divine War Relic’.
”Right.” Amon didn’t deny Klein’s statement and said casually, “If you wanted to open the entrance, you would have to take a ship all the way to the core of this ocean of ruins, which could take more than a month, and go through many dangers you can’t bear at the moment, but I don’t have to.”
”Because you are the son of the Creator?” Klein guessed with deliberation.
”No.” With one hand in his pocket, Amon turned toward the gates of the Black Monastery, “There is so much that can be exploited in such a chaotic place, with its broken order and mutated rules.”
The Angel of Time glanced sideways at Klein next to him as he walked:
”Sequence 0 of the ‘Stealer’ pathway has a very abstract name, ‘Error’.
”It was named by my father, and k used to substitute an odd, out-of-nowhere-origin word for it:
”‘Bug’.
”This translates to, the Trojan horse of fate, the worm of time, the loophole in the rules, the embodiment of all that is wrong.”
