Part 6 The Light Exporter Chapter 98 – A Thousand Years of Waiting
Rothschild Archipelago, within the primitive jungle outside the city of Bayam.
The leaders of the Resistance Army gathered in a cave, looking respectfully at the “Sea God” family member in front of them, who was wearing a black cloak, with burnt eyebrows and deep blue eyes.
”Lord Daniz, now is an opportunity!” Karat, who had a shaved head, sat in a wheelchair, and wore a green beard, spoke in a slightly agitated manner.
His partner, Edmonton, who had a short red tattoo painted on his face, followed closely:
”Lord Danez, according to the feedback from our intelligence officers, the situation in Byam is chaotic right now, and both the Storm Church and the Governor’s Office are anxious due to the fact that the Forsak army has laid siege to Beckland.”
Saying this, Edmonton glanced at Karat, allowing the more knowledgeable head of the corresponding field to give a more specific description.
Karat glanced at Lord Danez, who had a solemn expression, and weighed his words:
”They have become internally divided, with some wanting to draw the colony’s forces back to Birkeland, and others wanting to hold on to this place as a spark for revival.
”Such disagreements have led to a certain amount of bewilderment among the military and the extraordinary people of the Storm Church as well, and holes have appeared in every aspect.
”Lord Danez, this is our opportunity, we can completely agree to the conditions of Forsak and the Feniport Navy, and cooperate with them in attacking Bayam to take back the kingdom that belongs to us!”
Indeed it is an opportunity …… but is it something I can decide? It’s not like I’m stupid! Daniz quietly listened to the statements of the resistance leaders and muttered twice in his mind.
As an Intis, a famous great pirate, and a treasure hunter, he really didn’t have any mental burden about attacking the Rune colony, without any hesitation or wandering emotions.
Of course, he didn’t have a strong sense of belonging to the Republic of Intis, and even preferred to target Intis merchants when he occasionally moonlighted as a pirate, as they carried around more, valuable luxuries.
There was only one reason why Danez didn’t accede to the request of the Resistance leaders on the spot, and that was because he had become a “conspirator” and knew exactly what his position was:
A human microphone!
A tool in charge of transmitting the message between Germaine Sparrow and the Resistance leaders!
The odds are that Gelman is a Rune, and if I dare to say yes to you guys straight away, I might not see the sun tomorrow …… However, he acted as if he didn’t care about the Rune …… shit at all! Can’t be fooled by appearances! Danez cleared his throat and looked around the room:
”This is a matter of great importance, prepare a clean and peaceful altar for me immediately, I will pray to the gods.”
In an organization that generally believed in “Poseidon”, such a request did not surprise Karat, Edmonton and the others, and was even in line with their expectations, so they immediately arranged for manpower to prepare for the sacrifice.
……
”The resistance in the Rothschild Archipelago also can’t sit still ah …… They themselves are also supported by countries such as Forsak, Intis, and Feneport, and were able to hold out and not be wiped out by Ruen and the three major churches …… I also let them extract a lot of subsidies from the countries to extract a lot of subsidies …… “After listening to Daniz’s prayer, Klein sighed for a while.
Sitting in the ancient palace, he tapped his fingers on the edge of the mottled table in front of him, and after a few seconds of contemplation, he materialized the “world” of Germaine Sparrow.
The crazy adventurer immediately assumed the posture of prayer, said in a deep voice:
”…… Use the current situation to directly approach the Storm Church and the Rothschild Governor’s Office to negotiate, exerting the necessary pressure …… The purpose is to force them to back down and accept the concept of the Rothschilds’ governance of the Rothschild Archipelago. ……
”…… The Resistance can safeguard most of the interests that the Ruins currently have, allowing them to feel at ease in pulling out their troops and Extraordinary Ones to return to Bakerland ……”
……
Inside that clean and tidy altar, Danez, who had gotten the feedback, straightened his back.
He turned around and turned his gaze to the resistance leaders waiting outside, saying with a solemn expression:
”I have obtained the oracle.
”The gods have told us that every one of k’s people is precious and not to be sacrificed for a war that is not necessary.
”We will never start a war lightly, but we will not be afraid of it either; in short, we will first try to use the present situation and our power to negotiate with the Ruins and force them to make concessions that will satisfy the vast majority of us, and if that does not work, then we will consider war.
”God says, keep hatred in mind, but don’t let it cloud your reasoning, the people around you and a better future are what matters.”
After becoming a “conspirator,” Danez found that his ability to make up reasons and persuade others was on the rise, and oftentimes, thoughts would take shape as soon as he opened his mouth.
Karat, Edmonton and the other resistance leaders all had a deep hatred for the Rune colonists, but Poseidon’s words and Lord Danez’s rhetoric still managed to make them falter.
They had a clear understanding of how powerful the “Sea King” was, and if the war progressed to the point where both sides became red-eyed, the Blue Mountain Island where Bayam was located would probably be submerged by the sea and become a relic, and all the locals would be dragged along to be martyred.
It was true that the powerhouses of Forsak and Feneport had the ability to stop things from collapsing, but how much of their strength could they spare on the marginal battlefield of the Rothschild Islands?
Regarding them, Karat and other resistance leaders didn’t trust them too much, thinking that these guys weren’t fundamentally different from the Ruins, they were all bandits from the northern continent, who could tear off their masks at any time and become the new colonizers.
After a moment of silence, Karat, who was sitting in a wheelchair, looked at the man in the black cloak on the altar and said:
”Lord Daniz, we are willing to work for a peaceful solution.”
He added after a pause:
”Intelligence indicates that the one who currently has the final say in the Rothschild Islands is that ‘Sea King’, Yarn Kautman, it would be best for us to negotiate directly with him.”
Daniz nodded gently:
”That’s exactly what I was thinking.
”We need to send someone as a plenipotentiary into Bayam to face Yarn Courtman ……”
He was about to ask who would be willing to go, when he suddenly realized that the gazes of Karat, Edmonton, and the others were all on his face, as if to say that the “Sea God’s” dependents, the relatively supreme status of the Intis pirates, would be the most suitable target.
…… shit! Daniz cursed and looked at the crowd, his thoughts racing as he said:
”Well, this is an honor that also contains extreme danger, I know that some of you are full of the spirit of sacrifice and want to make your due contribution, uh, let’s do it this way, draw lots to decide, it’s the fairest way to do it.”
”I have no opinion.” Karat and the others responded without hesitation.
A few minutes later, Daniz looked at the cards in his hand, and an unnoticeable twitch appeared in his face muscles.
……
Silver City, at the top of the round tower, inside the chief room.
Colin Iliad turned his attention to Derek Berg, who looked stunted in comparison to his surroundings:
”Ready?”
Derek nodded his head heavily as he held the huge hammer of Thor’s Roar, which resembled a leg bone and had a blue surface that was wreathed in electricity:
”Ready.”
He did not act like an extraordinary person of the “sun” domain, but was closer to a berserker warrior.
Colin Iliad, who had white hair and old scars on his face, then moved his eyes to look at Lovia:
”Are you ready?”
Lovia, who had silver-gray curly hair and light gray eyes, didn’t wear her usual robes with purple stripes on a black background and changed into a dark armor.
She moved her head slightly and said:
”There’s no problem.”
Colin, the “Demon Hunter” who had become a “Silver Knight”, turned his attention to the others in the room, asking in turn if they were ready.
After receiving affirmative answers from all of them, Colin Iliad walked slowly to a wall, took down the two straight swords hanging above it, and slung them behind his back.
”Depart.” This Silver City Chief whirled around and gave the order in a concise manner.
The exploration team he led would once again head to the afternoon town camp to further explore the “Giant’s Court” and find out the way to the real sea.
With the sound of metal armor clashing, Lovia, Derek and the others followed the chief in silence, walking out of the room in a line and down the stairs.
On the way, they saw the elders of the “Council of Six” such as Wight Hilmon, and the residents of Silver City who maintained order in the Round Tower.
These people were either lying on the railing or waiting at the stairway, their expressions were unusually solemn, as if they were seeing off this team of explorers with hopes on their shoulders.
No one spoke, and the scene was silent, but as Colin Iliad, Derek Berg, and the others passed by, those Silver City residents raised their right arms and pinned their fists to their foreheads.
At the sound brought up by this action, Colin and the other members of the exploration team left the round tower and came out onto the road.
They then lit a lantern masked in animal skin.
Under the dim glow, a Silver City resident came out of his house and stopped at the roadside.
They looked at Derek and the others with admiration and anticipation, and one after another, they raised their right arms and placed their fists in front of their foreheads.
Derek subconsciously straightened his back, his heart on fire.
Just like that, surrounded by the crowd, their little exploratory team traveled along the road, came to the city gates, and walked out of Silver City.
As if there was a tacit understanding, Colin, Derek, Lovia, and the others had just broken away from the protection of the city walls when they simultaneously looked back at their hometown, which had stood firm in the darkness for two thousand five hundred and eighty-four years.
They saw that the residents of Silver City had not left, and all of them were standing near the city gates, looking at themselves and the others.
With a brush, the dark people raised their right arms in unison and pinned their fists in front of their foreheads.
This was both an expression of the highest respect and the giving of the deepest blessings.
Colin Iliad stared wordlessly for a few seconds, closed his eyes, raised his right arm, and swung it violently downward:
”Depart!”
Derek and the others instantly turned around, carrying the animal-skin lanterns that emitted a dim light, and stepped onto the path shrouded in darkness in silence and determination.
Target: “The Giant’s Royal Court”.
