Part Three: The Traveler Chapter 56: Dispersal
What the hell?
Danitz couldn’t believe what his eyes were seeing.
It didn’t strike him as shocking, but rather as inexplicably frightening, like jumping into a bucket full of ice when you’re drunk, with a piercing coldness seeping in from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.
What exactly happened? How had it gotten so weird? Daniz sucked in his breath and forced himself to twist his head back around to catch up with Germaine Sparrow’s back.
He realized that the mad adventurer was walking faster and faster, so much so that he had to take small steps to keep up.
Cutting through the streets and down an alley, Daniz suddenly saw a lime green shadow fall from a tree.
Snapping, it was covered in scales, twisting its slippery body, topped with a triangular head, and spitting out a thin scarlet core, but it was actually a not-so-short viper!
Shit! How could there be snakes in this weather at this time of year? Daniz wasn’t afraid of such creatures, and had even roasted snake meat for dinner; it was the anomaly that spurred him on.
Bypassing the venomous snake coiled in place, Daniz subconsciously looked to his left and right, and found a pair of cold, vertical, differently-colored pupils looking out from the drainage ditches on both sides, in the broken corners of the houses, and on the inside of the surface-rusted water pipes.
Daniz instinctively shivered, only to feel that his scalp seemed to have been pierced with dense, fine needles.
He didn’t dare to stay or leave, and once again accelerated his speed, following closely behind Germaine Sparrow.
Entering the “Blue Breeze” hotel, along the wooden stairs, he could not help but look up, wanting to ask a question.
Suddenly, his chest tightened and his breath caught in his throat.
It was as if he had dived into the bottom of the sea and was being squeezed from all sides by heavy currents.
Wow!
Vaguely, Daniz heard the sound of rushing tides and saw illusory cascading waves of light swirling around Germaine Sparrow, as if generating an infinite, bottomless azure ocean.
In the middle of that ocean, there was a huge, greenish-blue figure like a tower, supporting everything.
This …… Danez s right foot stopped in mid air, actually could not step down.
Similar feeling, he is not strange, the last pirate conference, “the king of the five seas” Nast is more majestic than this, more horrible, almost all the pirates can not raise their heads, only the general level of the strong can barely fight.
Daniz knew very well that this was by no means the performance of Germain Sparrow himself.
If the other party is at the level of that half-god half-human, when hunting “steel” McVitie, there is no need to introduce the “vicarious punishment”!
Ocean …… tide …… Danez’s mind quickly flashed through these two terms, and then thought of the resistance’s basic belief in “Neptune” Kavituva.
”Could it be, could it be that Germaine Sparrow suffered the curse of the ‘God of the Sea’ when she touched that bone sword just now due to unknown factors? That body of a believer that was completely lacking in moisture was one of the conditions for the curse to be unleashed? The chevalier just now kneeled and prostrated, kissing the ground because he felt the aura of the ‘Sea God’?
”Hiss …… Gelman Sparrow will die here today, I’m afraid …… Should I run farther away so as not to be affected, at most, at most, and come back afterward to collect his corpse… …
”Maybe there’s still salvation, I’ll use the ‘Séance Ritual’ to consult the captain, she knows so many strange secret arts, she should be able to solve this problem …… No, Lord, the ‘Séance Ritual ‘ condition is within 500 nautical miles, they still have to sail at least a day and a half to enter this range ……”
In the midst of desperately trying to think of a solution, Danez stopped panicking so much, stepped on his feet, and followed Germaine Sparrow into the plush suite.
Klein remained silent, his dark brown eyes seeming to be tinted with an azure so rich that it was almost black.
He went straight to the bedroom and unlocked the door with a click.
Danitz stood outside, wanting to run for a moment, then thinking he could still salvage the other man.
Inside the bedroom, Klein closed his eyes and waited for the opportunity.
Suddenly, he took four steps against the grain, each accompanied by a chant.
A quick murmur of either manic or shrill ravings rang in his ears, and the spirit moved vainly upward, straight into the gray mist.
Wordlessly, he heard a howl so mournful and agonizing that it was difficult to describe it in words.
Klein appeared within the ancient palace, at the top of the long, mottled table.
Below, in the quiet, motionless gray mist, presented an illusory, gigantic, greenish-blue sea serpent.
It was located within an ancient and obscure ruin, coiled around a half-fallen pillar, its hideous head raised, its bloody mouth opened, revealing a single curved fang longer than a human’s small arm.
The milky-white fangs were cascading with blood and flowing with mucus.
This sea serpent frantically flung its tail, setting off terrifying waves that caused exaggerated ripples, causing the entire ruin to shake and seemingly collapse.
This picture quickly broken, quickly dim, no matter how the huge beyond imagination of the sea serpent struggle, but also difficult to reverse, can only long hiss in pain into a little light, died in the gray fog.
Klein sat on the high-backed chair belonging to the “Fool”, quietly watching all this, for a long time without additional action.
The gray mist spread silently, and the scene seemed to remain unchanged for eons.
After a few dozen seconds, Klein leaned back against the back of the chair, sighed softly, and spat out the other man’s name:
”‘Neptune’ Kavituva ……”
After touching the bone sword, he had already sensed the abnormality, and in the conversation with “Bald” Karat, he keenly discovered that a small and weak but extremely high in essence cold and evil power had somehow invaded his body, and was slowly polluting his own soul.
Klein made an instant decision and turned his head away, then perceived that the evil power was making a connection with his surroundings, gradually becoming stronger and stronger, connecting a little bit to some unknown place.
So, he distracted himself against that erosion while controlling himself and not interacting with his surroundings.
Klein believed that as long as he reacted to the anomalies on his way, the erosion would become even more intense and even irreversible.
His original thought was to find a washroom nearby, and use the shielding and isolation of the gray mist to melt away the strange and gloomy power, but after much consideration, he decided to stay away from that area, because there were many “Neptune” believers in the surrounding area, which might cause accidents.
In this process, Klein also grasped one point, that is, if he “dispelled” in advance, “God of the Sea” Kavituva projected power will be part of the residue in the flesh and blood, the consequences and effects are unknown.
He had to wait patiently for the opportunity, waiting for that cold and evil power to thoroughly penetrate into his own spirit, in order to “purify” it in one fell swoop.
Reflecting on the whole thing, Klein tapped his fingers on the edge of the table and whispered to himself:
”Not very strong ah …….”
The status of “Sea God” was a lot lower than he had imagined!
His original intention was to use the same method that he used to entertain Amon’s doppelganger to deal with the “Sea God” Kavituva’s projection that was trying to erode his soul and seize his body, but the result was that the other party was dispersed by the gray mist before he could incorporate it into the “Black Emperor” card and before he threw out the paper angel, leaving no trace of it behind. Not a trace was left behind.
Based on this, Klein concluded that “God of the Sea” Kavituva’s status is lower than “blasphemer” Amon – although the latter may be more skillful at intrusion, but at that time it was only a diversion.
Was the Storm Lord whacked into a bit of space, or was he less than angelic himself, just a more powerful demigod who could respond to believers within a certain range? Klein was puzzled to recall, and realized that “Sea God” Kavituva’s state was very abnormal:
”The foundation of this evil spirit’s existence is quite fragile, and seems to be ready to collapse and disintegrate ……
”Moreover, it and that relic it was placed in had the feeling of being intertwined with the spirit world, and because of that, it escaped the Storm Church’s siege in the first place?”
Klein leaned back in his chair, having a vague guess:
”Today’s events are not a coincidence, it all stems from the fact that the archaeologist Laetitia took away a certain important item within the Forgotten Temple, causing the situation of the lingering ‘Sea God’ Kavituva to deteriorate a bit, making it difficult to maintain its own existence for a long time… …
”While allowing its believers to retrieve that item, it was preparing for its possession and survival. That bone sword should have originated from its demigod body, hiding a bit of the power it projected, and as long as the target was suitable, it would invade the body of the person who touched it, contaminating the soul, establishing coordinates, and allowing its own spirit to be transferred over before it dissipated… …
”But it’s obviously not good at this aspect, well, it’s not the Mercury Serpent, it can’t cycle itself and reincarnate, nor is it like ‘Blasphemer’ Amon, who can reside within someone else’s soul, and really occupying this body would only lead to a complete collapse of flesh and blood, creating a horrifying monster. ”
According to this logical development, the Kavituva who is on the verge of complete fall will have many more crazy moves next …… Klein frowned slightly, and without further delay, fell into the gray mist and returned to the real world.
He unlocked the back door, pulled it open, and entered the living room, startling Daniz, who was pacing back and forth.
Daniz scrutinized him up and down for a few moments, asking cautiously and warily:
”Are you, uh, okay with this?”
Klein maintained his Germaine Sparrow persona and replied calmly:
”Resolved.”
Solved? Danitz looked left, right, and into the bedroom, suspecting that what he had felt before was an illusion, and that there was no Poseidon curse at all.
What had he done in the bedroom? What did he do in the bedroom to lift the Poseidon curse in just a minute or two? Sis, this guy is not a small secret ah …… Danez backward two steps, out of the way.
……
The table with a lot of miscellaneous things, sitting on the iron wheelchair “bald” Karat face regret to the tattooed man Edmonton said:
”What a shame.”
”Just a little …… bit he didn’t pick it up, just touched it.” Edmonton sighed similarly.
Carat looked at the slightly curved bone sword and spoke fervently to himself:
”When an outsider takes up this holy sword, God will reappear on earth ……”
Edmonton knelt with it, as if in confession to the gods.
As time passed, Karat and Edmonton suddenly heard two screams.
They looked up to find two of their companions planted straight down, their skin like weathered rock, losing all moisture.
Karat and Edmonton looked at each other, sensing some kind of strange atmosphere.
Both of them straightened up at the same time and looked at the table.
The milky-white holy sword cracked with a click and shattered into countless small pieces.
