Volume 7: The Hanged Man Chapter 11: The Action Man
After opening the “door to the mind”, Klein cautiously extracted the memories of the “Fool”, gathered them together, and “grafted” them onto the gray mist.
Then, he saw Audrey, with her blonde hair hanging down softly and a light white silk scarf wrapped around her eyes, step by step ascend to her own island of mind from within the collective subconscious sea along the ancient stone staircase that had materialized.
After a slight hesitation, Klein stopped letting that part of his own consciousness perch high in the spiritual sky, relinquished control accordingly, and allowed them to return and merge.
–If not, in the following psychotherapy, he would remain absolutely rational, unable to be touched by various memories, and lose the possibility of enhancing his humanity.
This meant that Audrey’s therapy was doomed to failure at the outset.
After relying on her spiritual intuition to reach the island of the mind, which was more like a dream world, Audrey stopped and opened her arms slightly.
She whirled around, remembering her parents’ love for her, the excitement she felt when she first became an extraordinary person, and the joy she felt when she truly helped someone else, and in doing so, she altered her own emotions to radiate outwardly the appropriate waves.
This is the way she awakens Germaine Sparrow’s humanity-related memories, and it is an extraordinary manifestation of the “empathy” effect.
A picture that was either worth cherishing or contained deep feelings flashed one after another within Audrey’s consciousness, and under her feet, on the surface of the island that represented Klein’s mind, a little firefly-like light pierced through the “dirt” and floated up.
In each of these points of light, a different scene was presented:
”A child takes an ice-cream on short legs”;
”A student peeking at novels and comics under the cover of a textbook”;
”A teenager sitting at the family computer desk, engrossed in a game, when suddenly he hears the sound of a key being inserted into a lock hole and gently twisted, he jumps up violently, forcibly turns off the computer, rushes back to his room, and afterwards is so happy that his behavior has not been discovered that he gets a little bit wobbly on his feet, and goes to the living room one moment to ask his mother for his allowance, and then swings over to his father to casually ask a few questions about studies.”
”A youth, with his companion, pushes a squirming friend, pushes him down the hallway to the object of his crush, and then, turning back, laughs loudly”;
”A young man, still a little boyish, peeked downstairs and watched a figure go away, but couldn’t open his mouth”;
”An employee with a slightly bulging stomach returned home from vacation, waved his hand impatiently, told his parents not to give himself food, not to introduce a blind date, but when he calmed down, he looked at his parents’ frosty white hair in a daze”;
”A rather bookish man and his brother and sister looked at the stains and dust on each other’s faces and laughed when they had finished moving”;
”……”
Klein was sitting at a small round table on the terrace, holding his removed bowler hat in one hand and hanging in mid-air with the other, as if trying to get to his face.
Two clear drops of water slid slowly down the sides of his nose and fell into the void.
Klein closed his eyes, his expression both soft and sentimental.
Within the island of his mind, Audrey seemed to morph into a vortex of emotions, sucking up memories belonging to her kind.
Just after the entire mid-air of the island was covered in firefly-esque points of light, a faint grayish mist filled the air.
In the midst of the mist, a light gate tinted with a slight greenish-black color loomed, consisting of a single illusory and brilliant ball of light.
The main body of each ball of light was a strip of insects or transparent or with links or like starlight, which hugged each other and entangled with each other, like creatures from myths and legends.
This light door looked just a little strange at a rough glance, but if one looked closely, one could find that its surroundings were dark and heavy, like it had been given a deep black robe with a hood.
Thus, from an overall perspective, it was like a mysterious person with unknown strangeness hidden under the robe.
The next second, this “mysterious person” under the dark black robe leaped out one slippery illusory tentacle after another.
At this moment, although Audrey’s consciousness could not see or hear, her spiritual intuition gave her a strong premonition of danger, an illusion that the sea of pollution was about to drown her.
No, it wasn’t a hallucination! She believed that if she let things go this way, she would be infected with a serious mental illness, or even go crazy on the spot and lose control!
Audrey was about to do her best to “calm” herself and weaken the contamination in front of her, when the firefly-like points of light floating on the island gathered rapidly, illuminating the grayish mist, lightening the deep blackness around the strange door of light, and causing the tentacles, which were covered with mysterious and strange patterns, to shrink back.
This is also the reason why Klein came to receive “psychotherapy” only after his spirit was initially stabilized and he could barely suppress the revived will of the “Heavenly Father”.
This let Audrey sense the danger of weakening, busy psychoanalysis, and then immediately “pacify” the contamination, do the real meaning of “hypnosis”.
Over and over and over again, Audrey did not know how long it took, and finally achieved the initial, expected results.
She then exited Germaine Sparrow’s mind island and returned to her own body.
–The treatment was very difficult, so she didn’t use a “virtual personality” and went directly to her own mental body.
Sensing the end of the treatment, Klein raised his hand and wiped his face, letting the memories of the “Fool” that had been “grafted” onto the gray mist return to his body.
After a few seconds, Audrey removed the light white scarf around her eyes and nose, and released herself from self-hypnosis.
She looked at Mr. World across the room and said, half to herself, half in exclamation:
”Is this the spiritual problem brought about by divinity?”
It’s really frightening. ……
Klein nodded gently:
”Yes, every angel has it, the difference is only whether it is more severe or very severe.”
”Saints can have them too, as can low and medium sequence extraordinarys who are less than demigods.” Audrey added to herself in conjunction with Germaine Sparrow’s previous explanation.
”For low and middle sequence extraordinarys, the mental imprint of the past possessor remaining within the characteristic is a relatively greater danger.” Klein lifted his gold-threaded mug and took a sip, “This is the cruel law of the mystical world, for all of our transcendent abilities come from outside things, from extraordinary traits.”
Audrey nodded, then shook her head lightly as she pondered:
”I think perhaps it’s not so pessimistic, just as every human’s life source comes from external things: air, bread, meat, water, etc., etc., etc.”
”As we absorb them, we also absorb the bad that comes with them, and so we accumulate all sorts of problems, illnesses, etc., but that doesn’t mean that we have to fight them off completely, seeing them as foreign in the absolute sense, and that once we absorb them, there will always be a part of them that belongs to us.”
”I’m not expressing myself very well, but I think you should be able to see what I mean.”
Klein listened in stunned silence for a while, then responded thoughtfully:
”Transcendentals acquire extraordinary characteristics as humans enjoy food?”
”And then, calm your mind, don’t hold thoughts that are too repulsive, both confrontation and cooperation, both suppression and integration?”
”Probably.” Audrey had just finished, and then smiled mockingly, “However, it also seems to have a bad moral, the human race will eventually die, the transcendentalists ……”
She didn’t finish, not wanting to irritate the patient across the room.
She turned it around:
”Two more times during the week, and you’ll almost be able to keep your mind in a, well, normal state.”
”And, other times you can take a walk to places you miss, or yearn for.”
Klein nodded and spoke directly:
”What are your thoughts on the ‘outrage’ offer?”
The smile on Audrey’s face slowly disappeared, and her expression grew serious:
”What do you suggest?”
Klein put down his teacup and said flatly:
”Strictly speaking, the danger you bring is divided into two categories: one is when you are actively or passively involved in something that draws a powerful enemy to yourself, rippling through your family, relatives, friends, and innocents, and the other is when your own existence allows certain forces to choose to go after the people you value the most as a way to threaten you.”
”For the latter category, you can never circumvent it unless you are already dead, but of course, the vast majority of such things are transformed from the first.”
”The vast majority of the risks of the first category can be circumvented, making the second category rare, if you renounce all of your current identities in the occult world, and henceforth become nothing more than a devotee of Mr. ‘Fool’ and Ms. Audrey Hall, and no longer actively participate in anything involving transcendence or instability. ”
”With that in mind, the favor of the ‘Goddess of Darkness’ on the Hall family, and Mr. ‘Fool”s sheltering of you, are more than enough to deal with that rarity of danger and ensure the safety of your family.”
”So there’s absolutely no need to split an identity out.”
Audrey was silent for a while, biting her lower lip imperceptibly as she opened her mouth to ask:
”What if you have to split an identity?”
”As long as you make that identity believe in Mr. ‘Fool’ as well, then it’s not much different from what I just said, the only difference is that you’ll have to stay away from your family and friends from now on, and live and act as a different identity.” Klein said in a slightly deeper voice, with a touch of gravity, “Also, are you comfortable with Hermes helping you split your identity?”
Audrey’s eyes moved slightly as her inner emotions were disturbed by the question:
”But splitting identities is supposed to be an extraordinary ability of Sequence 3 ‘Dream Weaver’.”
She definitely couldn’t accomplish it on her own.
The corner of Klein’s mouth curled slightly, suddenly asking:
”You can rely on that ‘Pride’ mask and directly enter the ‘Garden of Eden’?”
Because Audrey couldn’t take the initiative to mention that Psycho Alchemy would be relevant, he very directly pointed out the key.
Audrey gently nodded her head, and said as if she was surprised and puzzled and guessed something:
”I can’t pay the equivalent, and ……”
Not waiting for her to finish, Klein said with a grim expression:
”On the one hand, Adam turned his back on Mr. ‘Fool’ and almost killed me, on the other hand, the end is near, and Mr. ‘Fool’ has predicted something, when that time comes, K may sleep again, and as K’s dependant, I will not be spared. Can’t be spared, the reward you need to pay is to wait until such a change occurs, and do something dangerous to try to awaken k as per the instructions left behind by Mr. ‘Fool’.”
Without giving Ms. “Justice” a chance to digest this discourse, Klein reached out his right hand and grabbed a couple of times into the void in front of him, grabbing a grayish-white, cold and illusory personality mask.
Relying on the bitterness and Audrey’s trust in herself, he had forcibly summoned a projection of the “Pride” mask from the orifice of history.
”It’s connected to my mind consciousness, no one else can use it.” Audrey saw this and subconsciously pointed out that something was wrong.
”Give me a hair.” Klein said calmly.
Without much thought, Audrey pulled out a blonde hair and handed it to Germaine Sparrow.
Klein took the hair and wrapped it around the eye holes of the personality mask.
Then, holding his silk bowler hat in one hand and his gray mask in the other, he slowly stood up.
In the process, he mobilized the “Source Castle” and “defrauded” the rules.
Snap!
The “arrogance” mask was put on Klein’s face without any obstacles, and in front of his eyes appeared animals dressed as humans and walking upright.
He entered the Garden of Eden.
Looking at the black church in the center of the city, which was inlaid with skulls, Klein slightly hooked his mouth, drew out the “Star Staff”, and put the silk hat on top of his head.
