Volume 7: The Inverted Man Chapter 33: A Narrow Road
Hearing Amon’s “You’re crazy”, Klein tilted his head slightly and laughed:
”I just gave up following your arrangement, only, it was a little more thorough than you thought.”
As he spoke, an illusory brand protruded from his forehead covered with a cold and eerie mask.
It was a strange light gate tainted with a slight greenish-black color.
And a similar thing was similarly shrouded on Klein’s body.
Under the translucent, dark-colored cloak on his body, more and more slippery, evil tentacles leapt out, densely packed, stretching longer and longer, occupying the nearby sky.
In a slight flash of increasingly dark eyes, Klein looked at Amon and laughed:
”For me, instead of you becoming the ‘Lord of Secrecy’, it would be better to resurrect the one from the past.”
After stabilizing his mental state and understanding the key to Amon’s surprise attack, Klein initially lifted the suppression of the “Lord of Secrecy’s” will in his body with the mentality of “giving up”, allowing K to be resurrected even further.
Because of this, he was able to take more control of the “Source Castle” at the critical moment, and borrowed the power of the “error” to avoid the collapse of space created by Amon.
Without waiting for Amon’s response, Klein smiled with the corners of his mouth turned upwards:
”You were able to recover immediately after being contaminated by the ‘Source Fortress’ and showing signs of insanity, utilizing the ‘Source Fortress’ in reverse to create the ‘Blind Demented Fool’ effect, and you were able to not enter a state of half-madness after letting go of the suppression of the will of the ‘Mysterious Lord’ in your body because there was an external force helping you.”
”You should have a very critical alter ego, or even a self-subdued body of the realm like Palles, sleeping at Adam’s, with K, the ‘Imagineer’, personally maintaining your mental state, and as long as the ‘Lord of Mysteries ‘ will is not revived beyond the limits of what Adam can bear, and there is no loss of control there, you will not go mad.”
”Therefore, your most serious hidden danger is that you must always keep your connection with that body normal, and if it is disturbed, your state will go wrong, and this connection, under the division of the ‘Source Fortress’, is actually very fragile.”
”You deliberately displayed a half-crazed condition, in addition to inducing me to look for opportunities in that direction and step into your pre-set traps, you were also hiding that from me to prevent me from fighting around that connection.”
”Of course, aside from that, there are quite a few problems, after all, you’re not really ready yet. If I had discovered all of this earlier, even if I had only mastered the Unique King of Angels, I would have had the means to defeat you.”
Amon listened quietly, lifting his hand to square the crystal monocle that was clipped to the socket of his right eye, the corners of his mouth quirked up slightly as he let out a sigh with a smile.
Klein chuckled at the sight and shook his head:
”You are indeed powerful and cunning and terrifying, worthy of the title ‘God of Fraud’, if I hadn’t long ago considered what I should do when I was pushed to the brink by you and had no other recourse, I would have definitely hesitated just now, and with just a little bit of hesitation, I would have been dead by now. ”
In that case, Amon would be in complete control of the Source Castle, preventing Kraven from returning from the mists of history and making it impossible for him to be resurrected.
Amon gazed at the growing number of evil tentacles sticking out from under Klein’s dark cloak, inhaled slowly, and smiled:
”The ‘Lord of Mystery’ within you is close to truly awakening.”
The smile on Klein’s face had taken on a bit of neurosis:
”You can come and compete in that as well.”
”Our next battle is very simple, it’s to compare who has more of the ‘Lord of Secrecy’s’ will awakened in their body, and who has a deeper control over the ‘Source Fortress’, fifty percent, seventy percent, ninety percent, all the way up to one hundred percent, and then, bang, we blow up and k comes back.”
”Well? Want to take a bet, see who can’t hold out first? It’s exciting, it’s fun, it’s to your liking, it’s like the roulette wheel that’s popular in Forsak, two people with a revolver and a bullet in it take turns pulling the trigger on their temples, whoever gives up first is equivalent to letting the other person win, whereas if neither one gives up and hangs on until the end, there won’t be a single winner, k will be the one.”
Amon’s eyebrows twitched and he smiled, not saying anything.
Klein looked at k and said with a big smile:
”Although you have always been known for your thrill-seeking and risk-taking, most of the time you have achieved your goal, not only did you not lose anything, but you gained a lot instead, and in a small portion of the time, you only lost some detachments, lost some items, and never really suffered from serious trauma, or fell into a desperate situation.”
”Almost every one of your actions is the product of careful planning, and even if you fail, you have an exit route.”
”Does this suggest that you value your life more than I thought, you do like excitement and seek pleasure, but to do whatever it takes for them is just an image you package, how could a true ‘God of Fraud’ gamble with himself?”
”Of course, that’s just my personal guess, and I may be wrong, anyway, care to take a gamble?”
Amon stroked his crystal-sharpened monocle and “tsked” as Medici had done:
”You’re crazy as hell.”
Klein responded with a grin:
”It does seem crazy to anyone else.”
”But to me it’s just a choice.”
”I’m more willing to believe in that ‘secretive lord’ from the past than you are, k is the real old days, looking down on the universe and treating the vast majority of living beings as bugs and insects, which in turn would keep k away from reality.”
”Besides, I should still have time to ask the ‘God of Lights’ to be a witness and ask that ‘Lord of Secrecy’ to promise something, something simple and worthless to k.”
At that, the corners of Klein’s mouth puffed upward as he said:
”I wouldn’t have much to lose, only my ego.”
”There is always something, above all else.”
Amon kept his smile, but didn’t speak.
Kraven then looked around and found the Wishing Lamp and the Book of Trenthorst Brass in a piece of wilderness debris floating in the void.
He burst out laughing:
”You see, I have not been punished, which means that I did not lie and told the truth.”
In fact, the rules laid down by the “Tron Solstice Brass Book” had begun to fail as early as when the “stars” descended and the Divine Kingdom was shattered, and the Ammonites had dared to try to “steal” it from many people later on, but the main purpose of Kline was not to prove that it was true. Klein’s main goal was not to prove anything, but to show his determination, resolve, or madness.
Of course, he was telling the truth, and was willing to put them into practice, otherwise it would have been impossible to hide them from Amon, and would not have been able to put enough pressure on him.
Amon held a smile, not flustered at all:
”Sounds interesting.”
”Does it? Let’s get started then.” Klein responded without hesitation, his eyes growing darker.
Amon’s smile froze slightly, and his palms snapped together.
Underneath k’s classical black robe, one slippery and evil tentacle after another likewise leapt out.
K’s aura then changed to a certain extent, and it was as if K’s body surface was covered with a dark-colored cloak.
At this moment, Amon became more like the “Lord of Secrecy”.
However, K was not competing with Klein on the degree of awakening of the “Lord of Secrecy” in his body, but rather, he was disguising himself, so that he could deceive the “Source Castle”, create the corresponding “bug”, and create an opportunity to break away. The “bug” power was a chance to get out of it.
There are different prerequisites for the “bug” authority to be effective on the same level:
Firstly, the medium and the target are similar enough; secondly, there is a certain connection between the two; thirdly, there is a logical contradiction between certain things; fourthly, there is a real imperfection in some of the rules; fifthly, it does not affect the target directly, but it is in the form of creating the Kingdom of God that an environment full of “bugs” is constructed… …
In this regard, “fooling” has fewer restrictions, but once the conditions are met, “mistakes” are more difficult to prevent and stop.
Amon is now trying to actively disguise himself in order to fulfill the first condition.
This is the same as a virus invasion, first let the other side think it is their own, so as to avoid recognition, and then can paralyze the defense mechanism, to achieve the corresponding purpose.
When a fruit looks like a strawberry, smells like a strawberry, and tastes like a strawberry, then it’s basically assumed to be a strawberry.
In reality, there are likely to be exceptions to this rule.
At this moment, Amon’s appearance was like the “Lord of Secrecy”, his breath was like the “Lord of Secrecy”, his ability was like the “Lord of Secrecy”, and his spiritual imprint was like the “Lord of Secrecy”. “That, together with the “wrong” authority, would of course make the “Source Castle” think that K was the “Lord of Secrecy” in a certain moment.
Suddenly, Klein’s tattered “Fool” God’s Kingdom completely collapsed, and the magnificent and ancient palace and the mottled long table inside emerged.
The gray mist that was originally located under the “Source Castle” rose up and enveloped the space.
The gray and white mist split into two waves, colliding fiercely somewhere, creating vortex after vortex, and tearing a gap downward to reality.
The power of the “Source Castle” was at odds with itself, as if it didn’t know which of the “Secret Lords” to obey.
Amon’s figure immediately disappeared, utilizing the authority of the Gate to go straight to the outside of the Fortress.
Just as he touched the edge, his body first stagnated and then flew backwards.
On the position of the “Fool”, Klein sat there with the corners of his mouth slightly hooked, and the strange door of light in the center of his brow and around his body became more and more obvious, as if it were a substance.
This exudes a strong to unimaginable power of convergence, like an invisible hand, hard to pull Amon back!
Amon’s body split steeply, transforming into countless selves.
And an illusory stargate appeared in front of each Amon.
Wordlessly, this stargate opened at the same time, but in the infinite ghostly blackness behind the door, a slippery and evil tentacle leapt out ahead of them, blocking the Amon’s escape path.
At the top of these tentacles, a little bit of bright starlight lit up, instantly enveloping the Amon.
The Amon coalesced inexorably, transforming into a mass of concepts.
These concepts included, but were not limited to, pointed fedoras, classical black robes, monocles, destiny, time, keys, doors, bugs, and Trojan horses.
Klein slowly stood up and smiled at the passively conceptualized Amon:
”You could follow suit and allow the will of the ‘Lord of Secrecy’ to awaken further, but that’s not the same as death, and it would definitely ripple through that body of Adam’s there.”
The conceptualized Amon quickly became physical again, and K relied on the authority of the Gate to get out of that state.
With a smile at the corner of his mouth, K didn’t respond to Klein, and seized this opportunity to apply the “error” authority to replace the real with a doppelganger prepared in advance and located in the outside world, replacing himself, and reversing the positions of the two sides.
This is similar to the “soothsayer” field of the body of the secret puppet position swap, but this level is higher, the principle is different, will not be interfered with the majority of the situation.
However, Amon failed.
He realized that his “wrong” authority had been forcibly suppressed.
Slowly rising, Klein raised more slippery evil tentacles around his body, and the smile on his face became more and more pompous.
Immediately afterward, Amon’s eyes froze, his smile froze, and his crystal-polished monocle lost its luster.
At the same time, the cold and bizarre mask on Klein’s face appeared to squirm.
”Blind Foolishness” effect!
In the next second, he “grafted” himself to a concept in the starry sky, and used his “Fool” power to influence the corresponding environment.
The slippery tentacles around him then bent like a revolver and aimed at Amon.
Inside Amon’s stupefied eyes, a supernova erupted.
An unimaginable, unusually intense sea of light rushed out, shattering K’s monocle and flooding K’s body.
