Volume VII The Inverted Man Chapter 23 “Fooling”
Upon returning to Byers’ home, without waiting for Roy and the others to ask anything, Klein pulled over a chair, sat down, and wished himself rather reverently:
”I wish for my spirituality to be restored.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers, allowing the wish to be granted and returning his own spirituality to the level it was at when it was in perfect condition.
Immediately afterward, he reached out with his left palm, ready to end the maintenance of the historical projection of the “curtain”, and then summon another one to continue blocking off Beltane’s corresponding area of the spiritual realm, denying the Church of the War God’s Archprelate Larrion a chance to escape.
”There’s no need, if you miss this time, there will be another time.” At this moment, Arianna slowly shook her head, signaling that Klein didn’t need to summon the “curtain” that originated from the Ebony Demon Wolf.
One of the limitations of the “Wish” ability was that the “Miracle Worker” couldn’t fulfill more than one similar wish from the same supplicant within a short period of time, which meant that Klein couldn’t restore his spirituality through this kind of self-granting in the next one or two hours.
Of course, for a qualified “soothsayer” pathway angel, there are certain ways to get around this restriction, for example, he can have Pasha, Roy, Phil, Byers and Arianna take turns to make wishes to restore the spirituality of Crane Moretti, and then as a “miracle worker” to fulfill them. and then fulfill them as “The Miracle Worker.
The problem was that even if he could do it so many times, he wouldn’t be able to keep the “curtain” with the sequential 1-bit grid up for more than an hour, and it would take an hour to erase the “0-02” rule and rewrite it again.
Klein deliberated for a moment, nodded gently, and responded with a smile:
”Let’s give it a try first, it’s relatively free now anyway, wait until the last recovery of spirituality before giving it up, well, it purely depends on how lucky that Archprelate is, maybe in the process, K just lost control due to anxiety, irritation and nervousness?”
As he spoke, Klein lifted his hold on the original “curtain”, and with a tightly articulated grip of his left hand, he dragged out a new “curtain” and made it appear within the corresponding spiritual realm of the city of Beldan.
At the place where the color blocks overlapped, Larrion, who wore a black robe with white edges and a square-shaped hat, had just felt the restriction disappear and was about to leave through the shuttle, when he saw the new “curtain” fall, once again isolating the area.
The slight smile that appeared on his face suddenly froze.
A few seconds later, Larrion slowly exhaled, adjusted his mental state, and continued to wait calmly.
In the next few tens of minutes, this War God Church Archpriest experienced the frustration and agony of having his hopes just appeared and then doused several more times.
He tried to look for the pattern, trying to figure out the corresponding time intervals, seizing the fleeting opportunity to break through the barrier at the moment when the old “curtain” disappeared and the new “curtain” had not yet been created.
However, he eventually found that the law of the time interval is no law, the blocker is not about to run out of spirit before doing recovery, sometimes, the other side will be much earlier.
If it weren’t for the fact that the people were not forced to change their beliefs in the God of War within Forsak, and the order for Larion to be declared an apostate hadn’t yet been widely disseminated, the earthly angel might have lost control on the spot.
As the seconds ticked by, Larion once again sensed the disintegration of the old “curtain”.
However, this time no new “curtain” was created.
k finally reached the limit of …… Larrion’s heart was so happy that he didn’t think about anything else, and without hesitation rushed out of the collapsing God’s Kingdom prototype.
The next instant, k saw mention four blonde hair, red eyes head, wearing a gloomy complicated long dress headless woman, saw wrapped bandages, body flowing yellow-brown liquid unknown existence, saw many strange but exceptionally powerful spirit world creatures……
Klein had summoned the “curtain” a few times before, all of which were images of the historical aperture that had been impregnated with the scent of the “Source Castle”, so it naturally attracted things that were sensitive to it, and he would not be surprised even if Amon appeared in the group!
The slight smile on Larrion’s face froze once again.
……
Beldan City, inside Byers’ rented house.
Klein suddenly raised his head, looked high into the sky, and whispered to himself:
”It’s still awesome. ……”
He then became silent again, until the “Magic Mirror” emitted a sprite light, reflecting the current state of the bulletin board.
The rules on it were disappearing in the order they appeared, from back to front.
This means that “0-02” is erasing the previous rules and preparing to start again.
When the “curfew” was abolished, Kline, who was highly concentrated, immediately pulled Ms. Arianna and appeared outside the shrunken Beldan City Library through the “Flame Jump”.
At a glance, he realized that on the brass pages of “0-02”, the speed of erasing the rules had become extremely fast, and in just a blink of an eye, only the clause “the following rules are invalid” remained in the latter half.
Immediately afterward, this clause also disappeared, and a new rule appeared rapidly without a single interval:
”‘The ‘Tron Solstice Brass Book’ is the most precious thing of all, and no living being or thing can touch it without its permission …….”
Before this rule had finished unfolding, Arianna’s figure had appeared beside the rectangular table, touching the pages made of brass with her fingers.
With a click, the neck of this leader of the ascetics of the Church of Darkness suddenly tightened, as if it was suspended by an invisible rope.
As an angel, k even appeared to have broken bones and difficulty breathing.
Hanging!
However, with Arianna’s finger sliding slightly difficult, the first rule of the newborn is not yet fully displayed by the “eraser” directly erased, into the “hidden” state.
And all the rules made by “0-02” must be publicized or notified before they can really take effect!
With a clatter, Arianna grabbed the “Trenthorst Brass Book” and threw it to Klein, who was outside the floor-to-ceiling window.
Klein, who had already anticipated the next possible developments in the previous hour and had discussed them with Arianna accordingly, was not at all nervous or flustered, and took advantage of the fact that “0-02” was still in mid-air to drag himself out of the void, wearing human skin gloves.
Then, he grabbed the “Book of Trenthorst Brass” and utilized his own historical projection to “teleport” directly away.
Only when his figure disappeared did Arianna fall back to the ground with a thud, leaving deep strangulation marks on her neck.
In just a few seconds, Klein with “0-02” appeared at the top of the main peak of the Hornachis Mountain Range, and utilized the angelic level of “psychic vision” to see the ancient palace with collapsed walls, dilapidated, and covered with mist.
Without hesitation, Klein let his own historical projection take the “Tron Solstice Brass Book”, “flashed” to the main door of the palace, and reached out to push it open.
What appeared before his eyes was a hall of hanging corpses, each of which was of a different gender, male or female, and dressed in ornate, simple, elaborate, or casual attire.
Behind each of these hangers was a transparent and slippery tentacle that implied a complex pattern, and they all came from the depths of the hall, from an ancient stone chair there.
On the huge stone chair, transparent and twisted worms merged into a ball and grew uncontrollably, extending one bizarre tentacle after another in all directions.
This was the half of the Antigonus family, the half of the “Fool” that had lost control and gone mad!
Sensing the opening of the door and the proximity of Klein’s historical projections, the worm mass left the stone chair and fiercely waved its slippery tentacles, sending them rushing madly towards the door, as if affected by some invisible suction force.
Similarly, at the bottom of the stone seat, the tarot card with the image of Rossel’s Fool, with words written in starbursts, flew towards the door.
Just by seeing this scene, Klein’s historical projection had the tendency to be about to collapse and disintegrate, but fortunately, he himself was not spiritually intelligent, and was being manipulated by Klein’s main body that was hiding in the distance, so he did not have the negative situation of confused thinking and mental mutation as a result, and he did not remain frozen in place, unable to make any movements.
Before it dissipated, the historical projection threw the “Brass Book of Trenthurst” in its hand at the horrible pile of worms.
The transparent and slippery tentacles sensed the danger and responded instinctively: they wrapped around and bound the seal “0-02” at the same time.
In such a disturbance, the “Fool” card reached the door before the weird tentacles in the invisible “gale”.
Klein’s historical projection had already collapsed for the most part, so he mechanically reached out with his right hand, grabbed the “blasphemous card” and threw it to the back.
In the next instant, the slippery tentacles that had been re-distributed reached the door, but they were blocked by the mist and could not get out, so they could only frantically beat the barrier.
The open door then closed a little, hiding such a scene.
Klein, who was hiding somewhere in the peak of the mountain, frowned slightly, both joy and relaxation welling up in his heart, as well as an inevitable strong doubt.
”In other words, I traded ‘0-02’ for the ‘Fool’ card? The Goddess doesn’t need me to go to Calderon to find the clue to the ‘River of Eternal Darkness’ for the time being?” Klein muttered a few words to himself, walked out of the hiding place, came to the ancient palace not far away, and bent down to pick up the “Blasphemy Card”.
On the surface of the card was Rossel Gustav wearing a magnificent headdress, colorful clothes, carrying a cane and luggage, his eyes full of vision of the future, followed by a small dog.
And in the upper left corner of the card, a bright starburst outlines a few words:
”Sequence 0: The Fool!”
……
Inside the ancient palace, the “Brass Book of Trenthorst” fell to the ground and spread itself to the first page of the second half.
New rules began to be constructed:
”…… The ‘Book of Trenthorst Brass’ is the most precious thing of all, and no living being or thing can touch it without its permission, and violators will be punished by death!
”…… The state of the ‘Trenthorst Brass Book’ cannot be altered in any way, violator death penalty!”
No sooner had these two rules surfaced, and before they could “inform” the owner of this place, a line of words suddenly appeared at the interval between the first and second halves:
”The following rules are invalid.”
An hour later, the two rules were erased and new rules were written, but after only two of them, they were preceded by the clause “The following rules are invalid” – “0-02”. “It seems to have jumped straight from a largely blank status quo to one in which the pages have been filled to overflowing.
Again and again and again, the “Trenthorst Brass Book” was stuck in an endless loop.
