Episode 1 – The Ring of the Coiled Dragon Chapter 6 – The Ring of the Coiled Dragon (Up)
As the sun set in the west, the reddish flaming clouds covered almost half of the sky, even as it made the entire earth reflect red.
“Cleaning the clan hall is really simple enough.”
Linley walked out of the clan hall, and had to admit that he was over-prepared, and what he had originally planned to do in an hour was done in just fifteen minutes.
On the Yulan continent, there were 12 months in a year, 30 days in a month, 24 hours a day, and 60 minutes an hour. Generally, nobles have a clock to know the exact time, and the very rich or high status people even have a very delicate pocket watch.
“The clan hall is organized and cleaned every month, in fact, in just one month, there is no dirty place on the clan hall at all, just wipe it down. There’s still close to an hour before evening training, what should I do?”
Bored, Linley looked around.
Baruch’s ancient mansion had a history of over five thousand years.
The front yard was cleaned and organized every day, but the back garden was even more expansive, and with the exception of the clan’s hall, all the other houses and courtyards were covered in dust and even had cracks in them. Weedy weeds and turquoise moss grew all over the corners of the walls and stone paths.
“Huh.”
Looking at these ancient, decaying buildings, Linley’s eyes gradually brightened, “That much of the back garden hasn’t been organized and cleaned for over a hundred years, so inside, could there be something ancient and valuable?”
Thinking of this, Linley’s heart couldn’t help but flutter.
“If I’m able to find items of value and then give them to father, father, he’ll definitely be very happy, right?”
Linley took a deep breath, and immediately began to walk towards the decrepit house next to the clan hall, walking carefully step by step, picking up a sturdy wooden pole in his hand so that he could wave away the cobwebs and scrutinize for any items.
Stepping into the old house, Linley smelled a smell of corruption, in the corners of the walls there are dense spider webs, you can also see spiders climbing on them.
Many of the cobwebs covered the surface of some decorations, and upon closer inspection, the decorations on the walls of the old house were still extremely old. However, those decorations had long since decayed, and only a model was barely visible.
“If these decorations hadn’t rotted and were new, they would also be something that should be worth quite a bit of money.”
Linley shook his head helplessly, then continued to observe the other things, the wooden pole in his hand disposing of the layers of cobwebs as Linley carefully observed any of the items.
On the ground, on the wooden shelves, or checking the walls for some hidden mechanism.
“According to the books, it’s perfectly normal for walls to create organs.”
Linley carefully knocked on the walls, listening to the sounds.
Linley was enjoying this ‘Ancient House Treasure Hunt’ feeling, but Linley had forgotten that if he could think of an Ancient House Treasure Hunt, would his father, or even his grandfather, and the even older elders of the Baruch family not be able to think of it?
The things in these ancient houses had long since been searched cleanly by the Baruch family’s forefathers.
Linley was, after all, only eight years old, and although his family’s education from a young age had made Linley relatively precocious, there was, after all, a considerable gap between him and adults, and his thinking was still not comprehensive enough.
“There’s nothing in this ancient house, next-”
Linley stepped out of the first ancient house, and then walked towards the second ancient house.
There were still very many buildings in the back garden, after all, the front courtyard mansion that Linley and the others were currently residing in was only a third of the entire mansion. The area in the back was much larger. If they were to search them all, Linley estimated that it would take a whole day’s work.
“One by one, the decorations are all going to rot, and there’s not a single one that’s worth anything.”
Linley walked out of yet another ancient house once more.
Looking at the sky.
“En, there’s an estimated fifteen minutes until the evening training.”
Linley turned around and looked at a set of ancient houses in the distance that covered a huge area, “That’s it, the biggest one. Spend ten minutes searching for it, and if you can’t search for it, go train immediately.”
Linley made his decision and ran towards the largest set of ancient houses.
This set of ancient houses covered an area that was much larger than the living room of the front courtyard mansion, stepping into it, Linley carefully observed: “I guess hundreds of years ago, this was the place where our Baruch family gathered for meals.”
From the decorative layout of the ancient house, Linley could also tell that this was the living room.
And it was a very expansive, atmospheric living room.
“Search the ground first.”
The old rules, Linley lowered his head and opened his eyes wide, carefully searching every place, and when he saw something sh, he had a wooden pole pounded twice to carefully identify it. If it was a stone, just give up. As the training was also fast approaching from the evening, Linley’s speed of searching also sped up a lot.
“Start searching the walls, and the various decorations, phew, last hope.”
Linley puffed out his mouth and looked around, “Family ancestors, just leave me one or two things, even if it’s just a trinket.”
Linley looked everywhere carefully, even going so far as to watch behind the rotting decorations on the walls.
There were wooden shelves along the walls of this ancient house, and there were drawers on the wooden shelves, and Linley immediately opened one of the drawers to take a closer look, but the drawers were very clean, and they were empty. If there was something, there was just – dust.
“Ugh!”
After inspecting the last drawer of the wooden shelf, Linley couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment in his heart.
“After searching for this long, I can’t believe there isn’t even a single thing of value, pouring me down in a sweat and a layer of dust on my body.”
Linley looked at his own body, it was indeed dirty. This made it somewhat difficult for Linley to get even in his heart.
Linley’s gaze swept over the ancient houses.
“Hmph, go back.”
Angrily in his heart, Linley threw the wooden pole in his hand, fiercely towards the wooden frame next to him, as if Linley wanted to vent the angry resentment of close to an hour of doing nothing in this throw.
“Splat!”
The wooden pole smashed solidly against the wooden rack.
This wooden frame had a long history, and with the corrosion of over a hundred years, it had long been unbearable, and this wooden pole smashed hard, not causing the wooden frame to ‘creak’.
Hearing the sound Linley couldn’t help but look behind him, a look couldn’t help but be alarmed: “Not good, it’s going to collapse.”
Linley was searching for the first few ancient houses, but also had some decorations cracked on the ground, already very experienced.
Only to see Linley hastily retreating towards the side to avoid it.
That Lin Lei two people high wooden frame finally fell down, “Boom” sound, the wooden frame smashed on the ground, the wooden frame broken into seven or eight parts, but also let the ancient house raised a layer of dust. In the midst of the dust, Linley didn’t notice – along with the wooden frame shattering, a black ring that had been hidden in the wooden frame’s interlayer for an unknown period of time also fell down, and finally rolled onto the ground.
“Pfft, pfft.”
Linley vomited two or three times in a row, waving his sleeve to fan the dust away.
“What a reverse enzyme, my body got covered in dust, I guess there’s still a while to go before I have to train, it’s better to quickly go and rinse my body off and immediately change into a set of clothes.”
Linley waved his hand with his hand and headed towards the ancient house door.
