Episode 3 – The Beast Mountain Range Chapter 9 – The Beast Mountain Range (Up)
The Devil Beast Mountain Range was boundless.
Stepping into it, I don’t know whether the ancient trees that had grown for hundreds or thousands of years covered the sky one by one, all kinds of weeds were all over the place, and thorns were also overgrown. Those withered fallen leaves fell all over the place, and the sound would naturally resound when the feet stepped on the ground, and the old vines and weeds were densely packed around.
“This kind of deep forest that doesn’t know how many years it’s existed, the weeds and vines are also dense, it’s estimated that there’s just a magical beast hiding ten meters away that the eye can’t even see.”
Linley’s heart fluttered with fear.
Drinkwater was also beside him.
“Let’s not talk about ten meters away, Linley, it’s just that there might be a large python hiding in this patch of weeds in front of you.”
Derinkelwalt said with a smile.
Linley couldn’t help but look at the patch of weeds in front of him, the weeds were extremely thick and nearly half a man high, there could indeed be a python hidden amongst such dense weeds, taking a deep breath, Linley stood in place, reciting a magic incantation under his breath.
Suddenly, a slight wind spread out in all directions with Linley at the center, eventually dissipating between heaven and earth.
Wind magic – Wind of Scrying!
Generally reaching the third level magician realm, one could cast ‘Wind of Scrying’, but the stronger the strength, the wider the range of the Wind of Scrying, the Wind of Scrying of third level magic was just over a dozen meters in range, while the Wind of Scrying of a fifth level magician was over a hundred meters in range.
“Within this range of nearly two hundred meters, there’s only a level one magical beast, the Bubble Rabbit, and a few level two magical beasts, the ‘Earth Scorpions’.”
Linley said confidently.
The Wind of Scrying could sense the shapes and scents of creatures.
“Don’t be too confident, powerful magical beasts can dive into the ground, and even some Saint Realm magical beasts can even disguise themselves.”
Derinkelwalt reminded, and then said with a smile, “Of course, you’re a small person, and those powerful magical beasts don’t need to camouflage or sneak around in the face of you yet.”
Linley heard these words, but his heart grew more and more cautious.
“Sneaking? Camouflage? It’s written in the books that the intelligence of magical beasts is close to that of humans, so it seems that it’s not a lie.”
Linley said in his heart, glancing at the little shadow mouse ‘Bei Bei’ on his shoulder, “Bei Bei, the intelligence of this little fellow, is already very high, we can’t be careless.”
Air currents surrounded the soles of Linley’s feet, precisely the effect of the wind-aided magic ‘Extreme Speed’.
Linley’s entire person quietly traveled in the middle of the magical beast mountain range, carefully paying attention to the surroundings, the little shadow mouse on Linley’s shoulder was also fussily paying attention to the surroundings, the two small dripping eyeballs were also carefully looking in all directions, one person and one magical beast were just so gradually going deeper and deeper into the magical beast mountain range.
“The magic beast mountain range is more than ten thousand miles long, and the width is generally about seven or eight hundred miles, in the outermost hundred miles range, it is generally low level magic beasts mostly, if you go deeper to more than one hundred miles, it is the fifth level and sixth level magic beasts mostly. If you go even deeper, there will be a lot of grade seven, eight, and nine magical beasts, to the point where there might even be Saint Domain magical beasts.”
Drinkwater once again recounted some of the messages of the Magical Beast Mountain Range to Linley once more.
“Of course, that’s not absolute, maybe a certain level nine magical beast will be bored and run to the outer perimeter to take a stroll.”
Derinkelwalt teased, “It’s also possible to be unlucky enough to run into a large magical beast wolf pack that exceeds ten thousand in number, so if something like that happens, it can only be said that you have a bad fate.”
Linley couldn’t help but skim his mouth when he heard Derinkelwalt say that.
Nonsense!
The range of the Magical Beast Mountain Range was so large, and he was that unlucky? And once things happened, there was nothing Derinkelwalt, who only had his soul left, could do to help. What kind of attack power did a Saint Realm Magician with no magical power have?
“Grandpa Delin, I know all of this, so be quiet and don’t distract me.”
Linley said in no uncertain terms.
Derlin Corvette immediately smiled and stroked his white beard, saying no more.
In the midst of a deep forest like the Demon Beast Mountain Range, the dense foliage of the ancient trees blocked out almost all of the raindrops, with only the occasional drop of rainfall, and Linley had been walking in the midst of this Demon Beast Mountain Range for some time now, and also knew that the outer regions of this Demon Beast Mountain Range weren’t considered to be dangerous.
With a slight force from his feet, Linley’s entire body leapt up to a tree branch seven or eight meters high, and Linley carefully looked off into the distance.
“Boss, in the distance behind the right side, there’s a wild boar.”
Bebe’s voice rang out in Linley’s mind.
Hearing this, Linley couldn’t help but turn his head to look, and sure enough, at a distance of roughly a hundred meters or so, he saw a one-horned boar carefully looking around, and if it wasn’t for the fact that Linley was standing high, I’m afraid Linley wouldn’t have been able to see this one-horned boar at all.
“Unicorn boar, level three magical beast, attribute earth system, merely capable of casting the Earth Surge Gun.”
A message about the Unicorn Boar emerged in Linley’s mind.
“Although it’s only a level three magical beast ‘Unicorn Boar’, it can be used for lunch, boar meat is still good.”
Linley’s entire body scurried through the mountains and forests as if he were agile, quietly approaching towards the Unicorn Boar, because the weeds and thorns were dense, the Unicorn Boar couldn’t notice Linley.
When he was close to the Unicorn Boar, nearly ten meters away, Lin Lei hid in the weeds, and was able to see the Unicorn Boar clearly through the grass.
“Hoo!”
Linley’s entire body was like a dragon coming out of its hole, violently leaping out of the weeds, and when the Unicorn Boar turned its head alertly, Linley arrived in front of the Unicorn Boar as if he had descended from the heavens, carrying a strong wind, and the Unicorn Boar immediately let out a berserk roar, and the thick and long unicorn horn on top of its head directly stabbed towards Linley.
“Drink!”
Linley grabbed that unicorn horn with his right hand and violently lifted it with force.
The hundreds of pounds of unicorn boar was directly lifted seven or eight meters high by Linley, and Linley’s entire body leapt up with a single point of his foot, his right leg flinging itself out as fiercely as a large chopping knife, and smashing into the unicorn boar’s head as fiercely as rushing thunder.
“Peng!”
With the teeth-crushing sound of bones cracking, the one-horned boar was kicked so hard that it crashed heavily into a large tree, and then fell down so heavily that even the ground was shaken. Only to see that the one-horned boar’s skull had been shattered, the brain pulp from the skull cracks penetrated out, the mouth also continuously infiltrated blood towards the outside, the limbs struggled and trembled for two or three times and then stopped moving.
Relying on the strength of a warrior alone, killing a grade three magical beast was not difficult for Linley.
“Even though the magic crystal core of a grade three magical beast is only worth ten gold coins, it can’t be wasted.”
Linley took out the flat knife from the leather package behind his back, the flat knife just two or three times easily lifted the skull completely, the flat knife gently cocked, an inconspicuous earth-colored crystal core jumped up, Linley one hand copied on the grass and wiped it twice before putting it into the package.
And then Lin Lei’s flat knife in his hand very skillfully cut through the unicorn boar’s thigh skin, intercepted four large boar hooves.
After casually cutting down some branches, Linley waved his hand and a ball of flame appeared, building a simple grill, Linley began to roast the pig’s hooves.
The little shadow mouse ‘Bei Bei’ drooled, his eyes glowing as he stared at the pig’s hooves: “This pig’s hooves is the most delicious, boss, hurry, hurry, why don’t you just use fire magic to roast the pig’s hooves quickly?”
“Fire magic? I’m only a half-assed fire magic, not to mention this roasted meat, it’s not like the bigger the fire, the higher the temperature, the better it is.”
Linley said with a grimace, while also taking some coarse salt and other ingredients and placing them on top.
When Linley had first tested his magical talent, the earth and wind elemental affinities were superlative, while the fire department was medium. Actually, medium magical talent was pretty good for the average person. But for Linley, it was too lazy to waste his energy in fire system magic.
After all, it was estimated that it would take ten times as much effort to catch up with the Earth and Wind dual systems in terms of his achievements in the fire system.
Therefore, Linley was only casually refining some fire magic power during normal times, but releasing a fireball spell was still a breeze.
After roasting two pig’s feet, Linley and the little shadow mouse ‘Bei Bei’ had one each, while continuing to roast the other two.
“Wow, that’s delicious.”
Bebe ate excitedly while exchanging words with Linley, “This wild pig’s hoof meat, it can be so much more delicious than domesticated pig’s hoof meat, and the flavor is fragrant, of course it also has the credit of your roasting skills, boss.”
Bei Bei also gave Linley a small pat on the back.
Linley couldn’t help but smile.
“Boss, I want more.”
After Bebe ate one, he couldn’t help but look at Linley pitifully.
Seeing this pitiful look on Bebe’s face, Linley wasn’t the least bit softhearted and reprimanded, “This one boar’s hoof with the thigh attached can be much bigger than a roasted chicken, one of these is enough. The remaining two pig’s feet for dinner.”
After saying that, Linley ignored Bebe’s pitiful appearance.
When the two pig’s feet were roasted, Linley wrapped each of the two pig’s feet in a large woodcutting oil leaf, then placed them in the middle of the package’s compartment before continuing on his way with Bebe.
