Episode 8: Walking a Thousand Miles Chapter 27: The Secret of the Holy See
Sessler was well aware that a youth of only twenty-one years old would undoubtedly leave him far behind after reaching such a can.
“We sort of know about each other, don’t you want to know about the Illuminati?”
Sessler had a touch of confidence on his face, for the secrets of the Illuminati, he, Sessler, was afraid that he didn’t know less than the people in the higher echelons of the Holy See.
“Speak.”
Linley immediately listened carefully.
Sessler nodded, “To put it simply, the force of the Illuminati, at the most superficial level, has to be a group of missionaries, priests, regional bishops, white priests, cardinal archbishops, and so on. There are also the Eight Ace Knights, and the many powerful Templars, which should be considered the second force. There are also the men of the Inquisition, and a large number of ascetics.”
Hearing this, Linley was silent, he knew all of this.
“In addition to these on the surface, there are also two shadowy forces.”
Sessler’s sentence immediately caught Linley’s attention.
The ascetics and the Inquisition were surprisingly considered superficial.
“These two shadowy forces are both extremely terrifying, surpassing any of the other forces. Of these two strands, the first is the Berserkers!”
Sessler frowned, “This Berserker is terrifying, they possess a bizarre power, and that power is not a light power. I can’t tell.”
It was the first time Linley had heard of ‘berserkers’.
“What about the second strand?”
Linley immediately pursued.
Sessler’s face was serious as he said, “The second strand of power is the most terrifying power of the entire Illuminati, a power that they won’t use until the very last moment. This is the …… descending angels!”
“Angels?”
Linley’s heart trembled.
Back then, Linley was at the Ernst Magic Academy. He had also read a great deal about angels in books. The impression that angels gave Linley was powerful, very powerful.
“Descending angels, because they are bound by the bodies of mortals, their strength is reduced. But the worst descending angels are all ninth level powerhouses. Many of them are at the Saint Domain level. The descending angels are the most terrifying power of the Illuminati.”
Sessler exclaimed.
Linley’s heart burst with astonishment.
“Sessler, I’ve also read descriptions of angels in books, and in them, there are descriptions of powerful angels with god-like powers. If the Illuminati had quite a few powerful angels. It shouldn’t be like it is now.”
Linley inquired.
Sessler shook his head, “No, what grade of angel descends is related to the ground-attached bodies provided by the Illuminati.”
“Attachment body?”
Linley looked at Sessler in confusion.
“Yes. Angels are unable to tear through space and descend directly, they can only use a special method to descend into a human’s body. The strength of this human body determines the strength that the angel can utilize.”
Sessler explained.
“Linley, although there are level nine warriors in this world. There are Saint Realm warriors. But …… if they don’t have a fighting spirit. Purely physically, they can be much weaker. Normal humans, with purely physical bodies, can reach level six at the strongest.”
Linley agreed in his heart.
“And with a level six physical body, I’m afraid that after the angels descend, they will only be able to utilize level nine energy. Therefore, the Illuminati need fleshly bodies at level seven, and even more powerful bodies.”
Sessler said with great certainty.
“A more powerful physical body?”
Linley frowned.
“Although the limit of a normal human’s fleshly body is level six. But there are still some geniuses. They’ve been incredibly powerful since they were young, or they were born terrifyingly strong. These people with special talents can then reach the limit of a fleshly body at level seven. And a level seven physical body. It should be enough for an angel to exert the power of a Saint’s Domain.”
Linley frowned as he listened to Sessler’s words.
Because Linley’s great-grandfather had cultivated to level seven purely physically back then, only for his great-grandfather to die in the war later on. In the past, Linley hadn’t suspected it, but now he did ……
“Could great-grandfather’s body have been gotten rid of by the Illuminati?”
Linley guessed in his heart.
In fact, the four Ultimate Warriors were all highly gifted. All of them could cultivate their physical bodies alone to a terrifying degree.
Sessler continued, “This caused the Illuminati to search all over the world for a strong body, and the stronger the body, the stronger it is. The more terrifying the descending angels become. But it’s useless, nowadays, this Yulan Continent has four major God-level powerhouses. Facing God-level powerhouses, Saint Domain experts are simply sending them to their deaths.”
“Four god-level experts?”
Linley looked at Sessler in surprise, it seemed that this Sessler also knew of the existence of that powerhouse in the Magical Beast Mountain Range.
Seeing Linley’s surprise, Sessler laughed, “The four great god-level experts, the human Martial God and the High Priest, as well as the king of the Dark Forest on the side of the magical beasts and the king of the Magical Beast Mountain Range who appeared in the Day of Destruction.”
“Linley, when I was carrying out my undead inheritance, but I learned that the bodies of …… God level powerhouses are so strong that their bodies alone are as strong as the Holy Realm.”
Sessler said affirmatively.
The body of a god level powerhouse was actually a god body, god frame, god power plus a god body, which added up to a holy domain powerhouse not being able to harm them at all.
“That’s why I think that in order to exert god-like strength, the purely physical body reaches the Holy Domain level. So …… I’m afraid that the Illuminati simply can’t allow God level angels to descend. Even if that kind of high level angel descended down, bound by their bodies, they wouldn’t be able to exert god-like strength.”
Sessler said confidently.
The Undead Inheritance was very esoteric, and with Sessler being over eight hundred years old, he did know a lot.
“A god-like powerhouse!”
Linley’s heart burst with admiration.
The huge Yulan Continent, those four powerhouses standing at the very top, any one of them was enough to shock the world, and when the Day of Destruction had begun, Di Lin’s appearance had caused the two major forces of the Light Synod and the Dark Synod to only be able to hide from their fronts.
The Light Vatican had descending angels, so how could the Dark Vatican, which had been on par with the Light Vatican for countless years, be any worse?
Both of them combined didn’t dare to mess with that king of the Magical Beast Mountain Range, ‘Di Lin’.
The deterrent power of a God-level powerhouse was evident.
“I wonder if He too can reach that level.”
Linley’s heart was filled with hope for god-level power.
Sessler continued to tell Linley many messages about the Illuminati.
“The Illuminati, the two things they value most. It’s the search for a strong physical body, and it’s the search for a pure soul.”
When Sessler said this, Linley’s face changed.
Pure souls?
His own mother had died because of this.
“It is said that the ‘Lord of Light’ that the Illuminati believes in only needs two things, one is the power of faith, and the other is a pure soul. The purer the souls that the Holy See sacrifices, the more the Lord of Light’s Earth rewards.”
Linley already had a general understanding of the organization known as the Illuminati.
The Church of Light wanted pure souls to be sacrificed to the Lord of Light, and strong bodies to get powerful Godfall Angels.
“Linley, the Illuminati are on the Yulan Continent. It can be said that there are their latent forces everywhere. The influence of religion is terrifying after all.”
Sessler sighed, “But in the four empires, the Illuminati’s influence is weaker. Whereas in the Collar of Chaos, their influence is stronger.”
“The Collar of Chaos?”
A map immediately surfaced in Linley’s mind.
To the east of the O’Brien Empire, there was a territory that was somewhat larger than the O’Brien Empire. In the center of this territory was a massive forest, the Dark Forest.
The Dark Forest was thousands of miles long and thousands of miles wide, so huge that it already occupied half of the territory.
To the north of the Dark Forest. It was the eighteen northern principalities. Almost equivalent to the area of a province of the O’Brien Empire.
And the south of the Dark Forest, is the 48 Principality of Chaos, this chaos of the territory of half of the area of the Leader of the Bryan Empire, it should be considered the most chaotic place in the entire Yulan Continent, the 48 Principality of the perennial conquests and killings.
“The Church of Light and the Church of Darkness, belong to the two strongest religions in the Domain of Chaos.”
Sessler said.
Linley could imagine.
In the Domain of Chaos, where wars were frequent, people wandering between life and death really did need a faith.
“Well, the mouth is dry from talking. Let’s have some breakfast.”
Sessler laughed. ……
Linley and Sessler both had spatial rings which hid fine wine, and the two of them drank the wine. Eating some picked fruits and talking about how to deal with the Illuminati.
“Right, I remembered something.”
Sessler suddenly said.
“What is it?”
Linley looked at this Sessler.
Sessler laughed, “During my escort this time, I once encountered another team of people from the Illuminati lands, and that team was also escorting people.”
“What people. An expert like you?”
Linley pursued.
If it was an expert, he himself had gone with Sessler to rescue it. After all, everyone had a grudge against the Illuminati, and it was only stronger when everyone gathered together.
“Nah. It’s two very cute girls.”
Sessler shook his head, “When Lampson’s group of people converged with that group of people, I had also seen those two girls, and I have to say that those two girls were as pure as angels. With my familiarity with souls, I’m pretty sure that these two girls’ souls are extremely pure.”
When it came to souls, necromancers should be considered the most researched on souls amongst the various lines of magicians.
“But obviously in the eyes of the Illuminati, I am far more important than those two girls. Lampson and the others took me with them and quickly advanced. While those two girls are being escorted by another team, traveling at a much slower speed.”
Sessler said.
“What do you mean?”
Linley looked at Sessler suspiciously.
Sessler laughed, “What I mean is that we go and rescue those two girls. After all, there aren’t many experts in that team, and there’s only even one rank eight warrior.”
Rank eight, it was indeed nothing in Sessler and Linley’s eyes.
“You, an undead archmagic guide, are so kind as to go save those two girls?”
Linley looked at Sessler.
Sessler smiled and said, “Destroying the good deeds of the Illuminati is something I’m most happy to do. Not to mention that with such pure souls, the sisters might just be able to receive the Undead Inheritance.”
Undead inheritance, the requirements were frighteningly high.
This was also the reason why in the entire Yulan Continent, the number of undead magicians was incredibly scarce. The soul was the most fundamental of a person, even the Lord of Light needed a pure soul, thus showing the importance of a pure soul. And the Undead Inheritance, too, required such pure souls.
“You should know the route they’re traveling, right?”
Linley inquired.
Sessler nodded, “The route they’re traveling should be exactly the same as the route they’re escorting me along, unless the news of Lampson and the others’ deaths, which was known by that squad, could have temporarily changed the route.”
“Then let’s go.”
Linley rose directly.
“Roar,” Bebe, who was lying on the grass, and Heilu both stood up as well, both magical beasts were somewhat excited, magical beasts had tyranny embedded in their nature, they loved the days of battle the most.
“Leaving now?”
Sessler was a bit stunned, “We have destroyed the bodies of Lampson and the others, even if the Illuminati side found that there was no one in that courtyard, it is estimated that they would only think that Lampson and the others left, and they would not be so quick to find out that Lampson and the others died. Even if they find out that Lampson and the others are dead, they won’t be able to deliver the news to the escort team that quickly.”
“Don’t harbor any flukes, we’ll now follow the route you were escorted on and proceed in the opposite direction.”
Linley said directly.
Sessler really didn’t have a solution for Linley yet, and could only shake his head and sigh bitterly as he immediately followed.
