Chapter 49: Hard as a Stone
I finally met the legendary Ling Ruoxue. I had heard a lot about her, but no one had ever mentioned her shortcomings. I was originally very curious about her, but after meeting her, I felt a sense of decadence and anger.
I think maybe it’s because I have a strange personality. When my heart beats uncontrollably, I always feel like I’m being controlled, so I’m very depressed.
After the decadence, there was a mixture of anger. I felt so many things, but the other person didn’t have any fluctuations. This unequal relationship made me feel insecure, so I subconsciously began to resist Ling Ruxue.
After the initial shock, my expression on my face became calm. I seemed to be secretly competing with myself, trying to be calmer than Ling Ruxue. It was as if only in this way could I regain a shred of self-respect. But I was still childish, and I, who was even more childish at that time, had no idea that this was the ultimate expression of defeat.
Of course, the silly girl, Ru Yue, could not possibly know that my thoughts had changed so much in just a few seconds. She just said, “Third brother, this is my sister, Ru Xue. She’s very good. Today she’s helping you get rid of the parasite.”
“Well, hello.” I greeted Ling Ruxue calmly, politely, and distantly.
Ling Ruxue also nodded to me and then said, “Sit.” There was nothing wrong with it, but the calm and polite distance was the most distant distance.
I was secretly annoyed, but I couldn’t see any changes on my face. There were only two cushions in the room, similar to a futon. I sat on one of them as casually as I could, without paying any attention.
Ruyue felt that this behavior was not like me on normal days. In her eyes, I was a stubborn, brash, and somewhat ridiculous kid. This behavior was too normal today, and it was not right, so Ruyue looked at me with a surprised and apologetic expression.
I know what she means by surprised, but what does she mean by sorry? I don’t understand.
But I guess because Ru Xue was in the room, Ru Yue didn’t say much, and she just took Hui Gen from my arms and said to me, “I’ll wait for you outside with Hui Gen. After you’re done, remember to find me. We have a lot to talk about.”
I was stunned, thinking about wanting to be alone with Ling Ruxue, and for no reason I felt a little panicked, and couldn’t help but ask, “Ruoyue, why are you going out?”
Ruyue didn’t know what she was thinking, her face turned red, she glared at me angrily, and then said, “You little brat, it’s taboo to have someone else around when you’re removing the jinx. If Hui Gen and I don’t go out, do you want us to stay here and cause trouble?”
As for Huigen, he smiled foolishly and said something that made me feel very embarrassed: “Don’t cry (no).”
Bastard, I gritted my teeth and was about to pinch the kid’s cheeks, but Ruoyue had already hugged him and left. This made me feel a little depressed. Chen Chengyi, why do you care about a kid’s joke?
So, I swallowed a mouthful of saliva quietly, looked out the window with a calm expression, and didn’t know if I had the temperament of a three-star hero.
There was no sound in the room, and I could only feel a slight breeze in the air. Ling Ruxue had already sat down in front of me, facing me.
The two cushions were very close, less than half a meter apart. Ling Ruxue suddenly sat in front of me like this, catching me off guard. I tried not to look at her, but I could feel her breath lightly hitting my face, tickling, like a piece of goose feather floating on my face.
This feeling made my hands tremble involuntarily. I didn’t know why, so I simply put my hands in front of my chest and pretended to be bored.
Ling Ruxue didn’t seem to care about any of my emotions or movements. She stared at me directly, and I occasionally caught a glimpse of her in the corner of my eye, which made me feel uncomfortable.
After sitting in silence for more than ten seconds, Ling Ruxue suddenly said, “Take off your shirt.”
I was shocked and almost couldn’t hold back. I instinctively felt that something was wrong with what she said, but then I realized that it was my thoughts that were wrong. The place where I was infected was on my shoulder. If I didn’t take off my shirt, how could she see and remove the parasite? She couldn’t remove it from my face.
However, since a woman like her didn’t care, what did I have to be afraid of as a man? I took off my jacket and shirt, leaving only a white vest.
Ling Ruxue didn’t say anything, but gently stroked my shoulder with her right hand. There was a small black sword tattooed there, but she didn’t care about it at all, nor was she curious.
When her hand touched my skin, my heart stopped beating altogether, and I felt a wave of confusion. I couldn’t put it into words, but I just felt that her hand was a little cold, and when it touched my skin, it was like a spark had been set off, and that area of skin was burning.
After touching it for a while, Ling Ruxue frowned slightly and got up from the cushion.
This was the first time I saw her show an expression. Just a frown made me frown involuntarily, but I had no intention of exploring my own behavior, nor did I care what Ling Ruxue was doing. I was just a little disappointed!
But what was I missing? Was I missing the cool, cold touch, or the gentle breath on my face?
Ling Ruxue was facing away from me, looking for something on the shelf. It was only at times like this that I could look at her back without restraint, watching her busy, inexplicably at ease.
After a short while, Ling Ruxue suddenly turned around with a few jars in her arms. I quickly looked away, pretending to be bored and looking around. Ling Ruxue didn’t care at all, and sat down in front of me with a few jars in her arms, and then said to me, “I’m not sure if it’s the flesh and blood demon, so I want to try it.”
What does she mean? Is she asking for my opinion or is she making a statement of her own? I was a little helpless because this woman didn’t say much and I didn’t know how to answer. I could only nod very decisively and say, “Try it.”
“Okay.” Ling Ruxue simply said okay and then stopped talking. She flipped her hand and took out a few small copper needles from somewhere. Then she opened her jars and started smearing the needles with them.
I was used to it, and the seeds of the gourd were all small, so I didn’t bother to ask anything. I just stared at the jars for a few moments. Some of the jars contained paste, and some contained powder.
The ones with the paste were easy to handle, just smear it on. The ones with the powder were a bit more troublesome. Ling Ruxue would add some water, stir it into a paste, and then smear it on the copper needles. It looked like she was an experimental scientist.
“No accidents, it should be these kinds of things, let’s start.” While talking, Ling Ruxue’s hand shook, and I saw a thin, small knife slip into her hand.
I had seen such a knife in my sixth sister’s hands before, but I never thought that Ling Ruxue would have one too. What kind of knife is it? Unfortunately, I felt a sense of estrangement towards Ling Ruxue, and I was too embarrassed to ask anything, so I didn’t bother to ask again.
I knew that the knife was out, and I would inevitably have to suffer pain again, because my sixth sister had used the same method once. I thought that Ling Ruxue would say something like my sixth sister, but she didn’t say anything. Almost without hesitation, the knife stabbed towards my shoulder.
Although the knife was small and slender, it was still a knife, and I cursed it in my heart.
But I don’t know if it was because it was too sharp, but I didn’t feel anything when she stabbed me with it. It wasn’t until Ling Ruyue pulled out the knife and the unique dark blood stains on my shoulder began to flow that I felt a hint of pain.
Then came the pain that became more and more clear. I secretly admired her. With this skill, Ling Ruxue could stab someone more than ten times before the other person could react.
Because this technique requires not only a fast knife, but also a quick hand, clean and neat.
She took a white cloth and helped me remove the bloodstains on my shoulder, then took a copper needle and inserted it into the wound I had just made without hesitation or any sign of hesitation, and stirred it gently.
The pain made me almost scream. What’s wrong with this woman? She doesn’t say hello to anything, and she doesn’t mind the blood. She’s as cold as a stone!
