In the eighth month, King Wu passed away. He had no heir from his marriage to the Wei princess and thus his half-brother was enthroned as King Zhaoxiang.
King Zhaoxiang’s mother hailed from Chu and was of the Xiu clan, known as Empress Xuantai. During King Wu’s passing, King Zhaoxiang had been a hostage in Yan, but upon being returned by the Yan people, he ascended to the throne.
In his first year as king, Yan Jun became his chancellor. Gan Mao was sent to Wei in the second year, and a comet was sighted. Many elders and ministers, along with princes and dukes, rebelled against the king. All were executed, and even Queen Huaiwen met a tragic end.
After the death of King Daowu, his widow returned to Wei. In his third year, King Zhaoxiang was crowned and met with the Wei king at Huangji, also known as Huangjue. He also met with the ruler of Shangyong from Chu.
During the fourth year, they seized Puban. A comet appeared again. In the fifth year, the King of Wei came to pay tribute, meeting at Yingting. Once again, they battled at Puban with Wei.
In the sixth year, the Marquis of Shu, Hui, rebelled, and Sima Cuo subdued Shu. Marquis Jingyang was held hostage in Qi. There was a solar eclipse during daylight hours.
In the seventh year, they captured Xincheng and Milozi passed away. In the eighth year, General Mi Rong attacked Chu, taking Xincheng. Envoys from Qi, Wei, and Han, led by Bao Yuan, jointly attacked Fangcheng in Chu, capturing Tangmei. Zhao defeated Zhongshan, whose lord died, and finally perished in Qi. The sons of the Wei and Han nobles became feudal lords.
In the ninth year, Meng Xiangjun Xue Wen came to serve as Prime Minister of Qin. Huan attacked Chu in his tenth year, capturing eight cities and killing their commander, Jing Kuai.
In the eleventh year, the five states of Qi, Han, Wei, Zhao, and Song jointly attacked Qin, reaching Yanshi and then returning. Qin made peace with Han and Wei in northern Henan and Fengling. Wusui, near Pingyang, was close to Pingyang.
A comet appeared again. King Huai of Chu fled to Zhao, but Zhao refused to accept him, so he returned to Qin and died, buried in his hometown.
In the twelfth year, Lou Huan was relieved, and Wei Yi was appointed chancellor. Chu provided Qin with 50,000 shi of grain.
In the thirteenth year, Xiang Shou attacked Han and captured Wushi.
Bai Qi attacked Xincheng in his fourteenth year, slaying 240,000 and capturing Gongsun Xi, along with five cities.
In the fifteenth year, General Liang Zao attacked Wei and captured Yuan. He then captured Wan when he attacked Chu.
In the sixteenth year, Zuo Geng seized Zhi and Deng. Yi relieved his father and served as Marquis of Peng, a son of King Zhaoxiang’s brother, Prince Zhaoxiang.
In the seventeenth year, Chengyangjun came to court, and the Eastern Zhou monarch also came to court. Qin renamed Yuan to Puban and Hishi.
In his eighteenth year, Zuo made a second attack on Yuan and the Hebei-Yong Hebei; he took Qiao.
In his nineteenth year, King Huai was named the Western Emperor and the Eastern Emperor of Qi was dismissed. Lü Li returned home. Qi defeated Song, and the king of Song died in Wei. Ren Bi died.
In his twentieth year, King Qin attacked Hanzhong and then moved to Shangjun, Beihai, and the north of the Yellow River.
In his twenty-first year, Zuo attacked the Hebei-Hebei in Wei. Wei offered peace and Qin allowed people to move to the east of the Yellow River, granting them titles and pardoning criminals.
The Marquis of Jingyang was awarded to Wan in his twenty-second year. Prince Yi of Wei was appointed Marquis of Wen. In his twenty-third year, Wei Si Li, along with the Three Jins and Yan, attacked Qi and defeated him at Jixi.
The king met with the king of Wei in Yiyang, and with the king of Zhao in Zhongyang. In his twenty-fourth year, Wei was met in Yan, and the king met in Rang. He met in Rang, where he met in Rang, where he met in Rang. The king met in Rang, where he met in Rang.
He met with the king of Zhao in Xinye, where he met with the king of Zhao. He met with the king of Wei in Rang, where he met with the king of Wei.
