Chapter 1133 – The Queen and the First Lady
“Of course I’m only saying that it’s a possibility, naturally Britain wouldn’t think that way, the Soviet Union not so much. Britain still believes that it should be careful of misperceptions in this area, and that Soviet nuclear weapons are not just a threat to Europe, a very wishful thinking idea.”
Whether the odds are there or not doesn’t really matter at all, who would have the guts to actually take a nuclear bomb and test it?
Theoretically Alan Wilson is also aware that probably nothing today, but this thing is just as powerful as a torpedo, no one knows what the result will be until the moment of the hit.
The result of trying may well lead to the passing of a passing result, no one is sure whether there is something or nothing.
Nuclear bomb explosion in the crust of the stable place to explode, and the weak point explosion is not at all a consequence. The latter is likely to cause earthquakes, as has also been demonstrated.
The continent with the most stable crust in the world, according to Alan Wilson, is undoubtedly Australia.
Looking at the Earth from outer space, even the colors on it are completely different from the other continents, as if a continent from an alien galaxy had been given a sticker on the Earth.
In fact as a continent that hasn’t sunk in billions of years, Australia does look like a dead, silent land.
If it weren’t for the fact that Australia is a Commonwealth country that wants to push the limits and build nuclear weapons more powerful than the Tsar’s nukes, Australia would indeed be the best test site.
Alan Wilson also explained that he was giving the US a good-natured reminder, in no way mixed with personal bias. If he had not been confronted by Kennedy, he could have refrained from making that assumption altogether.
Who in all of London didn’t know that he himself was close to McCarthy? A walking Anglo-American special relationship altogether.
“Mrs. Jacqueline is still so radiant. A perfect embodiment of the First Lady, Madame is still in Paris and has already caused a storm, it’s not easy to get the French to fall for it.”
Alan Wilson’s words turned, and began to praise Mrs. Jacqueline’s charm, in a trance he seemed to see Jacqueline dressed in a black veil, an undead churlishness.
“Robert and I also have not seen for a long time, think carefully, the work experience in the United States, although brief, but also left wonderful memories, and now look back quite fondly.”
Alan Wilson a wave of social bullheadedness tone, a few words have been the Kennedy family a few people who know have taken care of, to Jacqueline’s compliments, the most sincere, never half false.
“Ellen is the man for the job, and diplomacy has been brightened by having such a dynamic permanent undersecretary.” Rab Butler spoke up, “The special relationship between Britain and the United States is really like the relationship between Alan and his American friends.”
“That’s for sure, Anglo-American cooperation is the foundation of the free world.” Kennedy immediately replied with a smile.
Alan Wilson had finished his warm-up activity, and stopped talking, just sneaking a look at America’s first lady.
To be honest, compared to Marilyn Monroe, although in dress up, looks not much difference, he is Kennedy, also can not control himself not to make a mistake.
He had long ago given the Cabinet his assessment of Kennedy, and the general realization of people in various countries prior to the Cuban Missile Crisis, both that Kennedy was a weak president.
Although Allen Wilson knew in his heart of hearts that this was not true, and had spat it out with Mountbatten, he still in good conscience provided the wrong assessment.
It was also so that Aidan could be more confident, that Kennedy got nothing in France, and when he got to England he wanted this and that? Isn’t that too much of a contrast.
Britain can never concede more than France, not even now, and especially not now ……
Does the UK have any recourse to the US at the moment? After getting out of the economic hostage situation, which should be non-existent otherwise, the Anglo-American summit, kicked off with France’s maverick, less-than-obedient status quo.
Then Alan Wilson took a back seat, arranging First Lady Jacqueline’s trip. Cabinet ministers had gone to receive the President of the United States, and he was not to be involved at all, but in some ways Jacqueline did not sit well with Her Majesty.
The dinner guest list had been finalized in advance, but after reading it, the Queen cut the list without saying a word. Why? It turned out that among the list of guests, there were Jacqueline’s sister and brother-in-law.
The Queen investigated these two people and found that Jacqueline’s sister had not only been divorced, but also divorced twice.
This is a big event in the British royal family, according to the rules of the royal family at the time: divorced people are not allowed to participate in the national level of foreign banquets, which has a British tradition and the conservatism of the members of the royal family.
The royal family is reluctant to directly step in, all of a sudden thought of letting the self-proclaimed special relationship between Britain and the United States, Ms. Pamela’s husband to find Jacqueline to communicate, which is very shameless.
“I would like to see Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret.” Having just met Jacqueline, Alan Bit Hotline heard this, as the First Lady enquired mysteriously, “I hear that Her Royal Highness wants to break away from the royal family?”
“And the First Lady cares about such things?” Alan Wilson had a mushy face, “The internal affairs of the royal family, the government has no right to ask, of course I am also, I am looking to communicate the schedule of the wife’s sister’s couple.”
“What?” Jacqueline asked back with some displeasure.
“It’s a royal tradition that divorced people can’t attend state dinners, let alone be divorced twice.” Alan Wilson spoke eloquently, “I hope that the United States will also face up to, the British tradition, instead of making unreasonable demands.”
Jacqueline got angry all of a sudden, “Why are you Brits so old-fashioned? The days of belonging to the Crown are long gone.”
“I will convey your words, to the King of Egypt, the King of Libya, the Kingdom of Iraq, even the King of Iran, the King of Thailand, and forget about Japan, the Japanese Emperor has long been a puppet.”
Alan Wilson, in front of Jacqueline, took out the messy code that he carried with him, which only he himself could read, and solemnly made a note of it, saying as he gestured, “On the occasion of this important visit of solidarity, it is slightly disappointing that the First Lady is always entangled in the minutiae.”
On the issue of right and wrong, he naturally sided with Her Majesty, who would remain the Queen for the naked eye’s future, while Jacqueline would not necessarily be the First Lady for much longer in the future that he could see.
Jacqueline was momentarily speechless, this was a far cry from the popularity she had enjoyed in France, at least when she was there, wherever she went she was greeted with acclaim.
“Does the First Lady have any other requests?” Alan Wilson inquired in a businesslike tone as he pocketed his accompanying notes, “Within the limits of what is possible and not overly demanding, I’m willing to provide all support except for favors.”
Alan Wilson had been thinking that Kennedy’s bumping into de Gaulle had sort of filled in the gaping hole where the happy-go-lucky president had offended France, and now it looked like the original British play wasn’t over yet.
Reaching out from Wick’s hand, he took out just a few days ago, the assessment of the diplomatic results of Kennedy’s visit to France, Alan Wilson handed it over to Jacqueline to watch, “First Lady, you should want Mr. President to get some diplomatic results, right?”
The words came out of his mouth, he himself was a bit tired of it, how is it like some Japanese movie in the tone of threatening the lady?
Sometimes diplomacy has to avoid being truthful, but without being blunt, did Jacqueline really think that the heat of public opinion was all that was gained from an important trip?
“Of course, I still hope that these harmless questions won’t hinder this visit even a little. First Lady, let’s now turn to the question about Princess Margaret, and I would be willing to communicate with Her Royal Highness on this issue for an informal meeting, and bring your sister and brother-in-law along as well, so that it seems logical.”
Alan Wilson’s voice reached Jacqueline’s ears, “I suppose? The First Lady shouldn’t say no!”
“I hear you and Senator McCarthy are close, you’re kind of like that.” Jacqueline sighed and sneered darkly, “Same stubbornness, if you were in the Republican party you might have made a splash too.”
“The sky is the limit for power ……,” Allen Wilson raised his eyebrows, and sort of informed Jacqueline why he would firmly support Her Majesty and not compromise on this matter.
The result of the communication was still good, Alan Wilson went to Buckingham Palace and informed the Minister of the Court of the outcome of the negotiation, and also agreed to the request regarding Jacqueline’s desire to see Princess Margaret.
Of course after he left, Jacqueline was also secretly comparing the chatter about how the Queen was a mediocre, boring middle-aged woman with old-fashioned and tasteless hairstyles and clothing, and lived in a palace that was like a run-down country inn, which naturally fell on deaf ears of the permanent undersecretary.
After Kennedy had finished his agenda for the day, Jacqueline did not forget to spit at her husband for Britain’s slowness.
“He’s a conservative in British diplomacy.” Kennedy said with a sardonic smile.
“How is your relationship with him?” Jacqueline inquired, “It seems like he knows your brother.”
“Well, not a bad relationship. Robert was working for McCarthy at that time.” Kennedy nodded, “The British Prime Minister and I, finalized finding a time to start an Anglo-American summit at a third party.”
MI6 had received an updated instruction from the Secretary General to pick up Jacqueline and Marilyn Monroe’s clashing shirts from amongst past news reports to determine if there was any suspicion that the First Lady of the United States was a follower.
“Secretary-General, if anyone else found out, they might still think that Britain is still in a period of monarchical power.” Richard White cried a little.
“Oh, where’s the mistake?” Alan Wilson was full of amazement, isn’t Britain a kingdom, “Just go and do it, the intelligence services are all necessary to set the record straight and make the facts visible to the public, not to mention that this is a matter of right and wrong.”
Let Richard White go, he had a report to write? On the Anglo-American summit, a number of possible demands from the United States.
