Chapter 1527 – Early General Election
In all conscience, Alan Wilson really was looking out for the political future of the Labor Party, and seeing Callaghan’s hesitation, he had to speak bluntly, “Prime Minister, I mean no harm at all with this advice. In all fairness, with the current support of the Labor Party, what can be done by following my advice, right?”
A reminder of the United States at this present time would only benefit Callaghan personally, and the fact that Iran had really given the free world a hard time only proved that Callaghan had the long term vision of a politician.
Even if the Labor Party may not be able to stay in power this time, when Margaret Thatcher comes up and takes a hard-line move against the British trade unions, the two comparisons will still preserve some of the energy for the Labor Party.
So this is something that Callaghan had better agree to, and do as he suggests, Callaghan can’t help but ask rhetorically, “Sir, I’m actually quite aware that your wife tends to favor the Conservative Party.”
“That’s her business, I, as the leader of the civil service, will not be affected by this kind of thinking, we are all eating the country’s food, we will only look forward to the country getting better and better, only when the country develops well can we be given a pay rise, definitely not the other way around.”
Alan Wilson thoughtlessly replied, although he and Pamela Mountbatten are husband and wife, but in the face of this kind of problem will still choose to defend the collective interest, “And I do not deny that Pamela may prefer the Conservative Party, but absolutely talk about no inclination, she is now half an Australian.”
“I’m sending you on a trip to the US to communicate with the American side on this matter.” Callaghan finally nodded, and put the matter to the head of the civil service to personally operate, now the Labor Party is facing a crisis of confidence, the most important thing at the moment is the support rate, really can not be bothered on the so-called international situation.
“But now the strike issue has not been resolved, if I leave?” Now it’s Alan Wilson who is rambling, is there some kind of conspiracy here? Like Labor wanting to trade one for one with his limit?
As if knowing Alan Wilson’s worry, Callaghan directly open the mouth to pick out, “Honorable Sir, absolutely not what conspiracy, your term of office nearly encompasses the entire time of the Labor Party in power, so many years, even if not to talk about its happy, but also is considered to be a sincere cooperation, and now the Labor Party’s support, and the Whitehall will be in conflict with it?”
This is not Callaghan’s own understanding, there is also part of the former Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s views, the two in the early years, although not a faction, but also did not evolve into the relationship between Airdrie and Morrison, he himself and the former Prime Minister relationship is still good, this comment is also sincere.
That’s fine, at the end of the day Callaghan is the Prime Minister and getting him to travel is something within the Prime Minister’s rights, not to mention the fact that the Labor Party does now have approval ratings as their number one MLA.
The UK certainly has reason to be more than happy with the changes in Iran, bearing in mind that over twenty years ago the UK also confronted Iran over Mossadegh, creating an oil crisis out of it.
On the economic level that time Iran belonged to no fight back, if not for the United States pulling the plug then let Iran kneel.
“I need to do two things, give the Americans an impression that Britain holds a grudge, and at the same time to play the role of a staunch ally.” Alan Wilson walked out of 10 Downing Street with his hands in his pants pockets, it’s been a while since he’s been on a tour, I wonder how his acting skills are now, he should catch up.
The supreme authority in Monroe’s mouth who took his little brother to eat and drink once again showed up at his door, ready to ask for advice on acting, if there was rust from not playing for a long time.
“Shouldn’t you go to Hepburn for advice? I didn’t win an Oscar!” Monroe stroked the blonde hair on her head and teased the man about the impure purpose of coming to her door, “You political types always wrap your purpose in a grandiose set. If I hadn’t been looking at little Monroe’s view, how could I have let you get so many bargains?”
“You can’t say that.” Alan Wilson laughed with him, “This time is to go to the United States, don’t I have to communicate with the Americans?”
“Good communication.” Monroe smiled and complimented, “Although you are a badass, but in this aspect is always not bad thoroughly, just want me to accompany you, no problem.”
On this visit to the United States, Alan Wilson focused on the issue of the Iranian revolution as a threat to the free world in the person of Khomeini, and he didn’t just meet with the ruling Democrats, he set aside time specifically for Reagan.
Putting on the face of a friend, Alan Wilson also did not shy away from the current problem of strikes in Britain, raging in passing about Keynesian accumulation.
In the eyes of others Britain’s problems are indeed serious, but Alan Wilson knows that this is already much better than the same period in history, compared to the history of more than twenty percent inflation, Britain has performed quite okay.
Cabinet Secretary’s double-sided life in front of Reagan showed the most, he was in the country when he was defending the ruling Labor government, but this is in the United States, or in front of Reagan, Alan Wilson naturally have to look at the dish, but also took the initiative to mention Reagan’s campaign for the presidency, and said encouragingly, “Ronald, my friend, you’ve already run for the presidency twice, and you’re still working on the goal to work toward?”
“Sir, do you think I should still be working on it?” Reagan was obviously still in the process of thinking about it, it was only the beginning of the year and he hadn’t made a final decision yet.
“Why not? Maybe Britain is about to get a woman prime minister, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see you as president of the United States.” Alan Wilson cheered Reagan on in an exaggerated American tone.
Wouldn’t it be a disappointment if Reagan didn’t run for president? Who amnesties two million Latin American illegals in the future?
Who follows Wall Street in pushing for trickle-down reform and who quells strikes in America? Who moves American industries out of the country? All of these things had to be done by Reagan, and if he wasn’t president, who would be?
“I know a lot of Americans think it’s the previous conflict between Britain and Iran that’s why they think I’m here this time to borrow the United States to sanction Iran, but Ronald, my friend. Maybe others don’t believe it, but now in this private setting, I’ll be honest and say that Iran is a big problem, a country that is different from the Arab world that has long since sunk in recent times, and in case of hostility to the free world, the free world will pay a huge price.”
Alan Wilson is all out of the toe-curling he was in Britain, instead he is full of despondency and seems to be saddened by America’s optimism about the Iranian problem. Iran certainly looks OK from the American perspective; after all, the Iranian hostage crisis isn’t even a shadow of what it could be.
Reagan didn’t show much regard for it either, just comforting Alan Wilson out of personal relationships and pretending to empathize.
This third-rate actor still wants to deceive the supreme authority? Alan Wilson sneered in his heart, how could he be subjected to this kind of absent-minded deception when he and his wife’s ladies of equal stature had an Oscar almost in hand?
This move by a staunch ally to cross the ocean to remind the City on the Hill to watch out for Iran naturally didn’t make any waves in the US, and was only laughed at by the Americans, “Addicted to being Greek? Obviously afraid of the collapse of the Iranian monarchy and the onslaught of monarchies following Britain’s ass in the Arab world.”
Although Saudi Arabia is also a monarchy, it is different after all, Saudi Arabia is a pro-American country, not the same type of monarchy as other illiterate monarchies.
When leaving the US airspace, Allen Wilson could be described as giddy, expressing his joy in running for his country, Monroe didn’t know what there was to be giddy about, and could only secretly shake her head, “That Reagan guy, is he on good terms with you?”
“Sort of good, he’s a good actor, only the acting doesn’t show up in the movies.” Alan Wilson wrapped his arms around Monroe who accompanied him to the United States and explained, “Being an official can be compared to an actor honing his acting skills, but I see that only if he becomes the president can he move towards the peak of his acting skills.”
“He still wants to be president?” Monroe muttered in disbelief, it’s a question of getting past the Republican primaries, being president?
While visiting Iran, Khomeini launches a jihad against the unwilling surrendering army, clashes erupt between the Imperial Defense Forces loyal to the Shah and the Iranian Air Force rebels, the Khomafarans, who support Khomeini, the revolutionaries and rebels gain the upper hand and begin to take over police stations and military installations, handing out weapons and armaments to the public.
The military forces loyal to the Pahlavi kings, faced with this predicament, began to lean towards surrendering to Khomeini, who was viewed favorably by many forces of different persuasions because at this point in time, at seventy years of age, and with his son having died two years earlier, Khomeini was theoretically free of political ambitions.
He returned to London just in time for Margaret Thatcher to launch a no-confidence motion, “the House of Commons has lost confidence in Her Majesty’s government”, and the government decided to debate and vote on it.
“Callaghan still agreed to a debate with Mrs. Thatcher.” Alan Wilson knew the news and sighed that the old-school Brits still do things generally the same, which if Bow C.T. was in power, unless the party was going to fuck him over, the flak from the opposition party, Bow C.T. could have taken it as a no-brainer.
In the winter past March, the debate began as scheduled, Callaghan rhetoric fierce attacked the Scottish National Party, they in order to oppose their own and against the Scottish autonomy of the Conservative Party coalition.
Watching the content of Callaghan on TV, Alan Wilson’s hard to restore a little bit of goodwill to the Labor Party has gone down quite a bit, it is better to let Callaghan hurry up and step down, the status of Scotland’s issue have the courage to compromise.
After the debate between the two party leaders, the six hundred and thirty-five members of the House of Commons will vote to decide the result of the motion of no confidence, if the motion of no confidence is passed, Callaghan will carry out an early general election.
From the by-elections of the past few years, the Labor Party still occupies barely more than half of the seats, ahead of the Conservative Party’s two hundred and eighty seats, but the Liberal Party and the Northern Ireland Unity Party, are on the side of the Conservative Party.
With the start of the vote, the number of votes for and against was extremely close, the final result came out, the entire Whitehall all of a sudden a crowd, the Labor Party surprisingly failed.
“The Labor Party has MPs who abstained from voting, otherwise this result would not have occurred.” Alan Wilson was also very shocked, with this result, Whitehall immediately knew that the problem was there.
