Chapter 1681: Long Live Freedom
“It’s the number two person in the Soviet Union right now, isn’t it?” Alan Wilson pinned his hands to his chest again and said in a tone of having read, “He is a representative who advocates for steady reforms, in fact, ah, like a country as big as the USSR, it should really be prudent, but then again, he doesn’t necessarily have the trust of the map head.”
Ligachev was one of the representatives of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union who advocated steady reforms, advocated reforms within the institutional choices of the Soviet Union, and opposed the denial of the achievements of the Soviet Union’s seventy years of socialism, and likewise was an enemy of the radical liberals, and Ligachev, Alan Wilson remembers, was ultimately a failure.
In June of this year, Maputo solemnly and proudly declared that the Soviet Communist Party was no longer the highest authority in the country, and introduced the concept of humane and democratic socialism.
Although it may seem that people like Ryzhkov and Ligachev, who advocate for reforms not to be so radical, still exist now, in fact, with Maphead’s statement in June, the status of the Soviet Communist Party is no longer an untouchable forbidden zone, Alan Wilson set himself to express his own opinion, and inquired, “Alyosha, what do you think?”
“I find it hard to believe that this is the supreme leader of the Soviet Union.” Alexeyev frowned, as if questioning whether he was living in a real world.
“Don’t say you don’t believe it, not even Margaret Thatcher, not even Reagan.”
Alan Wilson shrugged and laughed, “How could there be such a person in this world, fortunately it appeared in the Soviet Union. What do you think about the future of the USSR, honestly Alyosha, have you changed your mind yet, you’re risking your life with your ideas, I haven’t done my job as a foster parent but I still don’t want to see you have to make positively dangerous moves, but if you don’t change your mind I’ll help out without reservation.”
Alexeyev shook his head firmly, Allen Wilson sighed and said, “Well then, I’ll give my first piece of advice, even though the Chetan has been replaced, don’t fall out with him, keep on good terms, he’ll never sink from this, you have to trust me on that.”
In fact Alan Wilson felt that the Chetan was actually above the map head, bearing in mind that the Chetan also appeared in front of the army with real guts at the time of August 19th. For that alone, he had a greater bearing than Map Head, who had essentially done nothing.
If the two men’s positions were reversed, as long as the Khitan had even a shred of loyalty to the USSR, the USSR would not have disintegrated.
As for the Chetan’s kind of memoirs about seeing the Soviet Union’s privilege and corruption, that kind of talk is just enough to listen to, and the oligarchs who share the rule of the world have the nerve to say that the Soviet Union’s top brass is out of touch with the people?
“For me to kill him now would be no different than crushing a chicken.” Alexeyev thought for half a second and asked his father rhetorically, “Isn’t it?”
“But the problem is still there, he’s been replaced now, there’s no official position on him, it’s not hard to take him out. But this is just a change of leader.”
Alan Wilson followed the advice, “Replace up a new one, and you’ll have to get reacquainted, re-figure out what kind of character the other guy has, what can be exploited, what his weaknesses are. And his weaknesses are all readily available, and even if you didn’t pay attention to them once upon a time, it’s entirely too late to pay attention to them now.”
Alan Wilson was still opposed to the good Dahl taking on the Chetan, and said, “You’re the leader of the KGB, can’t you find someone to put on him then? Right now he’s at a low point in his life, a very good opportunity, he has two daughters, I think, and a powerless former First Secretary, you have ways to deal with that, it doesn’t have to be murder, and it’s perfectly possible to make him live very transparently under your watch from now on if you want to.”
“Talking about ideals nowadays is no longer acceptable to the young people within the Soviet Union. You mustn’t look at the chaos in the realm of ideas as only a few years old; just those few years have already been fatal.”
Alan Wilson reminded the good Dahl never to underestimate the chaos in the realm of ideas; if this stuff didn’t scare people, Suslov, the Soviet Union’s chief ideologue, would never have been in such a high position.
Ligachev is also near the front of the Soviet leadership, and he’s the one in charge of ideas right now. Normally Ligachev would be the superior of Yakovlev, the leader of the propaganda department.
But obviously now in the Soviet Union, Yakovlev does not listen to Ligachev, a bias conservative ideological field leader, and under the leadership of the most should be consistent with the leadership of the propaganda department leader and their own singing against the play, I believe Ligachev is also very annoyed, but Yakovlev behind the map head backing, Ligachev can not help.
In later times, after two subversion, the United States used a few years to let the anti-Russian ideology become the explicit mainstream in Ukraine, knowing that this is the most prosperous place in the Soviet period. I’m sure Russia is aghast at the current state of affairs in Ukraine.
Alexeyev knew that his father was right, at least the young people in Moscow and Leningrad were now quite enthusiastic about any kind of freedom. The army, although for the time being there is no obvious change, but I guess it is no longer useful to just talk about ideals, when the time comes, we must talk about money.
Allen Wilson immediately pursued the good Dahl’s economic basis how, “not told you, since the prohibition issued, you must know the law. You must have your own source of funding channels, of course I will try to assist, but this kind of assistance to give money will not help your cause. It is crucial that you establish an economic cycle that you can control.”
“I do run some of the wine business and have taken over the export of caviar.” Alexeyev was frank, “The profits are indeed high, and although I have no ambition to do so, I have to admit that the profit thing is indeed very appealing.”
“That’s for sure, it’s something that can actually be seen, the ideal is something that can’t be seen or touched, how can it be compared to money.”
Alan Wilson sighed quietly and said, “Once public opinion is liberalized, conflicts between ethnic groups also erupted more than before, right? Honestly, joining in the face of ethnic division, the Soviet Union’s republics are leaving, if you had this ability to intervene, what would you do?”
Aliksheyev’s answer, of course, was to hit hard, and Alan Wilson shook his head and said, “What if the nation that wanted to leave was Russia? How would you punch hard?”
Heavy handedness to other peoples that’s fine, after all, Russia as a nation understands everything, never minded bullying, in fact it’s not shameful, small peoples become big peoples all come this way.
But the key is if the Russians believe that they are very much under the leadership of the Soviet Union, leaving these dragging their feet will be better off, then how to do?
It’s all come to this time, even if Alexeyev’s mantle succeeds, don’t expect everything to go back to the past, even if the map head now repents, it will take years to repair. Not to mention that such a problem would be even bigger in a few more years.
“Father, do you have a solution?” Alikseyev thought for half a day, but didn’t seem to be able to find a viable solution.
“Now this cry of father is very sincere.” Alan Wilson shook his head with a bitter smile, “It’s just a matter of whether you lose more or less, being safe and sound is impossible. In fact, the Soviet Union’s ethnic problems can be deferred, in fact, there is only one ethnic group that really makes the Russians feel overwhelmed. It is the Uzbeks, the other nationalities Ukraine and Belarus are their own people. As long as the situation is under control that’s not a big problem, the Uzbeks are the third largest ethnic group in the Soviet Union.”
The USSR has almost 300 million people, the Uzbeks are almost 20 million and growing very fast, in fact the USSR could live on this issue for a while as long as the Uzbeks are taken care of.
If you give up some, and push out Azerbaijan as well, the Soviet Union’s ethnic problem would be much lessened. The country would not have lost too much of its national strength.
This is not the answer that Arikseyev wants, he does not want his country to lose even an inch of territory, see this reaction, Allen Wilson knows that the good elder does not want to accept that there are nationalities in the USSR to go out on their own, but there is no need to argue, the time will come when the good elder will come to his own realization.
It is hard to imagine that during the day to the Soviet Union thriving liberals stand, and now Allen Wilson is discussing with Alexeev, how to stabilize the situation, to save this Britain’s biggest enemy in the open.
But there was nothing Allen Wilson could do; the Soviet presence would allow the United States to focus on its own great cause, and that great cause was to be wide-eyed with the Soviet Union. This was good for other countries.
If the Soviet Union was gone, Alan Wilson had good reason to believe that it would only be a matter of time before the Rhodesia, Malaya, Newfoundland, and even the Falkland Islands and the South Pacific territories now retained by the UK were lost, and it would be hard enough for French Algeria to try to keep it.
“Oh yes, Marshal Akhromeyev is a very powerful man.” Alan Wilson mused for a moment, “He just left the General Staff right, communicate with him secretly. When the time comes I will instruct you on how to deal with a marshal, after all I am better at communicating with marshals.”
After Alexeyev left with a heavy heart, Alan Wilson immediately began to write his report, the situation of the freedom movement in the Soviet Union was not a little good but a lot better, the scene that he had seen on his own visit to the USSR was really exciting to think about, the great victory was near, the long Cold War was about to come to an end, and so on and so forth, and so on and so forth, and so forth, and so on.
After a night’s sleep, Alan Wilson went straight to visit the liberals, and the Chethens were among those who met, and he opened his mouth to express his hatred of meeting them, so that the Chethens were flattered.
