Chapter 567 – Imperial Loyalist Dogs
“As a new department, don’t listen to the wind. The department should be more concerned with practical matters when it is first established.”
Alan Wilson frowned, “London and I have high hopes for the work of the Security Intelligence Committee and are remaining patient enough, after all, there are other purposes in the future.”
This unconfirmed information was severely refuted by Alan Wilson, who stated outright that British Malaya had not received any repatriation requests from the United States at this time and could be determined to be fake news.
It is hard for others to imagine that the busyness of a High Commissioner, reporting to Alan Wilson with such news, is in itself disrespectful to his work, of which he has much to do.
For example, in accordance with the Foreign Secretary’s instructions, planning to stabilize South and Southeast Asia’s economic development support program, of course, this is to be carried out under the framework of the Commonwealth, on the basis of the success of the previous five countries of the United Nations Defense Treaty, this matter Allen Wilson think it is not difficult.
Of course the most important thing, or to obtain the support of Australia, again Australia.
Alan Wilson also lamented that Australia was indeed the natural supporter of Britain in dealing with Asian affairs.
Because just returned to Kuala Lumpur, Alan Wilson on the current details of the problem is not particularly understand, and signed the five countries of the United Nations Defense Treaty, Lieutenant General Bilton met, said he has the Foreign Ministry’s task, the development of the British Empire in Asia to maintain the traditional influence of the plus protection and to implement.
Lieutenant General Bilton heard a bitter smile, “I thought you were going to ask, the Pacific Fleet and the U.S. Seventh Fleet cooperation it.”
“That doesn’t concern me!” Alan Wilson had a disinterested look on his face, “The Americans maintain their influence and must drag Britain along with them, these bastards are even more excessive than we were in the first place.”
“Indeed, the Americans want the Pacific Fleet to join the Channel cruise.” Lt. General Bilton nodded approvingly.
Alan Wilson had a shocked look on his face and cursed, “They really dare to think that too, what good would it do to the British Empire? Who pays for the loss of two and a half billion pounds? What about the problems in Xiangjiang?”
Do you really take the British Empire of 1950 as the British Isles in the twenty-first century that can’t play without the United States?
“Unsurprisingly, both the Cabinet and the Fleet Admiral will refuse.” Lt. Admiral Bilton signaled for a moment’s peace and quiet and said, “Regarding your inquiry about the situation in Australia, for the time being, there is a high level of anti-Soviet sentiment within the country because of the issue of sovereignty over the Antarctic territory.”
“Is that the reason?” Alan Wilson said in silence for a moment with his hands in his pockets, “This matter is not easy to deal with, and is not just a problem for the Soviet Union, the United States should be able to put forward an opinion that seems to take care of the emotions of all parties, but has no results, and to boast neutrality, but also so that we do not achieve our goal. After all, there are quite a few countries involved, and on the premise of the Soviet Union taking a stand, the U.S. can fish in troubled waters.”
The matter of Antarctic sovereignty, that’s a long story, the eighteenth century British Captain Cook lasted three years and eight months, circumnavigated Antarctica for a week, and entered the polar circle several times, but he ultimately did not find land.
Decades later, Imperial Russia sent a scientific research team led by the Orient and the Heihe two ships, which lasted two years found two islands. Sort of established that the Antarctic was a continent, not a big chunk of ice.
Into the twentieth century, the prelude to a sensational run on the Antarctic opened, even Hitler’s Germany are involved in a hand. Of course with Germany’s defeat, the Antarctic had nothing to do with Germany again.
It has become a fight between countries close to the South Pole, the United Kingdom because of the Fox Islands, as well as the support of Australia and New Zealand, the South Pole tour sovereignty claims of countries and the United States.
But a total of eight countries have sovereignty claims to the Antarctic discussion, attracted the attention of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union note eight governments, indicating that it does not recognize any country in any way to the Antarctic claims to the boundaries of the Antarctic, do not recognize without the Soviet Union’s participation in the case of any resolution on the Antarctic.
Since the first land in the Antarctic was actually discovered by Imperial Russia, and the Soviet Union had an important historical position in the discovery of the Antarctic, this led to a change in the attitude of the United States, which, together with the Soviet Union, disavowed any claim by any country to the Antarctic frontier, and, together with it, preserved their own right to make their own frontier claims to the Antarctic.
“I told you that the Americans, without saying a word, were siding with the Soviet Union on many issues, and now they are so close to being directly at war with the Soviet Red Army, and are still implicitly standing in solidarity with the Soviet Union on such an almost symbolic issue as the Antarctic.”
Alan Wilson knew that on the issue of Antarctic sovereignty, Australia saw itself as having the greatest advantage because it was facing almost the entire Antarctic continent on its own, next to New Zealand, where blood is thicker than water, and with the solidarity of Britain. Almost a kind of imperative mentality, now by the Soviet Union so much warning, naturally angry.
However, Alan Wilson, a mere mortal, as of the twenty-first century did not find that there is any way to put the Antarctic to use, naturally, is not concerned about the Antarctic, but to prepare relevant information, ready to go to Canberra, to win Australia’s support for the preservation of the traditional influence of the United Kingdom.
This information included, but was not limited to, monetary reform and related industrial support in British Malaya.
Among the three banks that are expected to be set up to issue the Asian pound in British Malaya, one bank is entirely a British state-owned bank, another is a British private bank and a bank in which the Australian government distributes equity.
The third bank is Pamela Mountbatten’s newly established Sarawak Development Bank, this bank is not solely owned by Pamela Mountbatten, there are also a large number of private shareholders, just happen to have the same name as some of the Whitehall’s official cloud heads.
While Britain has the clout to get Australia to support British Malaya on mineral resources, and it’s not hard to get there, nothing is as straightforward as yo interests being tied up.
And it makes sense to pay something for Australia’s mineral support of British Malaya. British Malaya’s currency reform exchange rate has long been set, the nominal exchange rate is one to six. The two pieces of profit left out, although it can not be exhausted, but leave a lot of leeway to float.
Use this piece to fight for and even bind the interests of Australia, but also in line with the maintenance of the British Empire’s influence in Asia.
A Comet airliner that arrived in Kuala Lumpur from London, after the necessary overhaul and refueling, flew to Canberra, the capital of Australia, with a well-prepared Alan Wilson.
As the Comet continued to leave the factory and gradually appeared in the national airlines, Australia was no longer unfamiliar with the airliner and was interested in updating the Qantas airliner.
Arriving in Canberra, Alan Wilson first met with the Governor-General of Australia and, after gaining his support, went to seek the support of the Australian Prime Minister, Robert Gordon Menzies.
Robert Gordon Menzies is the leader of the Liberal Party of Australia and is a number one choice for current Britain as much as his predecessor as Menzies is a rabidly pro-British Prime Minister.
In Menzies’ words, Australians are essentially white people with a British background. But with the current Australian Labor Party still in control of the Senate.
“There is probably no politician in the world who loves the Crown Prince more than he does. Not even our politicians back home in the UK.”
Before meeting Menzies, Alan Wilson knew from the Governor-General that this Prime Minister Menzies turned out to be a great admirer of the King-in-waiting, then this matter might be easier.
Alan Wilson could remember that Menzies had been the Prime Minister of Australia for eighteen years, which showed that Britain’s influence in Australian politics would not dissipate for a long time. This was simply great news.
If he didn’t have the means to make British Malaya a fortress within eighteen years, he would simply be sorry for Menzies’ eighteen-year tenure.
Knowing that Menzies has a reverence for the Crown Prince, Allen Wilson will mention in words, his fiancée is Pamela Mountbatten, although there is a suspicion of eating soft rice, but can achieve the purpose as soon as possible on the line, the area of minor details in front of the national interests of a point is not worth it.
Indonesia is of course the main issue Allen Wilson talked about, to which he said that the arrangement for Indonesia is almost complete, British Malaya, Dutch Kalimantan from the north to suppress, Dutch New Guinea will become Australia’s barrier.
As for facing Java, there was the Portuguese-controlled island of Timor and a portion of Christmas Island in British Malaya to keep a close eye on.
But one cannot discount Indonesia’s own demographic advantages, followed by some clichéd population spillover, with Australia itself having just under nine million people, and Indonesia having ten times that number.
“All indications are that Indonesia’s Sukarno and the Soviet Union are getting closer.” Alan Wilson waxed eloquent on the Soviet threat theory in front of the Australian Prime Minister, “And Britain’s current response is to build up industrial superiority over Indonesia and to prevent the strength of the Indonesian state from supporting an aggressive outward-looking policy. The place to support this is readily available, British Malaya. This must be supported by the Australian government.”
“Britain is worried about the geography in which Australia is situated; if Australia itself had a sufficient population, London would not be so worried, but Australia’s livability conditions dictate a population ceiling that has to be a cause for concern.”
The current Australian idea is actually similar to Alan Wilson’s previous two-winged flight. Australia’s version of two wings flying together is to help Britain maintain Britain’s traditional influence in Asia while recognizing that the United States is more powerful.
To this end support any European power to stay on its side, be it the Netherlands or Portugal for that matter. In this pursuit, Australia is not even willing to listen to the United States.
On the subject of currency reform in British Malaya and the hope that Australia could help, Menzies responded warmly. Stating that there was no reason why Australia could not help Britain.
Surely an imperial loyal dog, Alan Wilson mused with a knowing smile.
