Chapter 639: I’ll Build a Wall
Alan Wilson’s instinctive reaction when this came out through Gerard’s mouth? Too bad!
“Starting next month, more than two million people will have to think about heating problems. To be honest, the heating problem, even if it breaks out, isn’t as easy to capitalize on as outright starvation, and the Soviet Union is more likely to pass the buck than famine.” Alan Wilson, not surprised, asked rhetorically, “Whose resolution was it to concentrate on airlifting food?”
“It was the opinion of the Americans, and it was not good for us to oppose it.” Gerard shrugged helplessly, “Concentrating on rescuing the Berliners’ survival rations is a justifiable reason.”
“The Berliners’ greatest value is that dying in droves gives us an excuse to blame the Soviet Union, other than that they’re half worthless.” Alan Wilson was furious, “What the hell do Americans know about imperialism, if done correctly we could even decimate the communist forces in Western European countries. Isn’t that much more important than tens of thousands of people dying, even a hundred thousand?”
“That’s not how you ran the locals in Malaya, is it?” Gerard’s face twitched, unacceptable at such anti-human rhetoric; if Alan Wilson had been German, he would probably have been a big fan of Hitler.
This was of course, Allen Wilson was not anti-Hitler, if he were German, even if Hitler had the ability to kill everyone on earth except the Germanic people, he would be equally for it. The point was that he wasn’t German, and what he couldn’t understand was that certain non-Germanic soap ingredients worshipped the Führer as well.
“I’ll do it if I need to, of course, but I won’t make it so obvious.” Alan Wilson painfully acknowledged the fact that human life was not worth a penny in his eyes, “Why do I find that Americans have a kind of white leftist mindset?”
“What? What do you mean by that?” Gerard was still unsure about the term white left.
“Nothing!” Alan Wilson let out a long breath, if it was all said that White Left did not have a little contribution, did not have a little to represent the progress of mankind and improve the living environment of the oppressed, it could only be said that there were ulterior motives. The problem of the White Left is nothing more than the problem of wanting both.
It wants social justice, freedom, truth, goodness and beauty, and it doesn’t want to pay a price. But there is no such good thing in the world, to do great things should pay a certain price.
In Alan Wilson’s eyes, the lives of two million Berliners in exchange for the unity of the free world was only a very small price to pay, not to mention the blockade action taken by the Soviet Union, and as long as Britain and the U.S.A. followed the trend and took appropriate measures, the responsibility for the famine could be shifted to the Soviet Union.
He really didn’t understand why it was important to save these Berliners, wasn’t it more important to take advantage of the opportunity to dismantle the communist community in Europe in one fell swoop than it was to have a bunch of Berliners who couldn’t help at all when they were deep behind enemy lines?
Gerard could see that Alan Wilson was really, really disappointed, and he couldn’t say anything about it, he just felt that Alan Wilson’s hard-hearted style was fine to use in the colonies, but it would definitely go wrong in Europe.
“Alan, there’s no way around it, the whole world is watching.” Gerard reminded gently, no one would dare to take the blame for a slight leak in the matter.
“What’s there to talk about then? I think I should get ready to return to Kuala Lumpur!” Alan Wilson yawned, the opportunity was there but couldn’t be implemented because of the foresight of the top brass, deserved that the cold war could last for decades.
He stayed for the sole purpose of seeing if there was any action to be taken, such as a famine or other big news la. Not to read about the good offices in the newspapers in Bonn, that was a waste of time.
It’s not like Alan Wilson didn’t have a job, he didn’t have time to watch both sides milling around Berlin. No superpower demeanor at all. Now it seemed that the purpose of waiting for a big news story was getting slimmer and slimmer with the passage of time, so he naturally had to go back to his own business.
Historically, the Berlin crisis lasted nearly a year, Alan Wilson now so look, surely this time is also towards the direction of long-term, he certainly is not possible to stay in Bonn for a year to wait for progress, leaving Europe also became the first choice.
“To go back?” Anna, who was lightly biting her finger, was unhappy about the news, she didn’t want Alan Wilson to leave, only when this man was there did she feel that her life was complete, and when she was held by a man at night, it allowed her to experience dreamland, once this man left, she would be alone again.
“It can’t be helped, I have my own work, the matter on the Berlin side, it seems that there can’t be a result in the short term.” Alan Wilson had a hateful attitude, as if he himself was the only one who was cranky, deeply impressed that the American Empire was tactless and the Soviet Union was less intelligent, which amused Anna.
For the little Dragon Rider’s reluctance, Allen Wilson was also full of amusement, he just felt that Anna actually fit his requirements for a woman.
Not to mention the outward condition was really good; he saw her thighs were long, straight and beautifully defined, like a model in a window; perhaps it was the mischievous look that twinkled in her eyes when they made fun of each other’s children, and her smile that made her face glow and show its incredible beauty.
Regardless of when this had happened, his feelings for her had changed anyway. He didn’t understand why that was, and he couldn’t explain why he longed to know what it felt like to have her lips rubbing against his, or the experience of her body pressed against his.
Bonn was not a big city and traffic was rarely bad no matter what time of day it was, even on Sundays. Early morning and late evening were peak traffic times. It was like a glutton for punishment; everyone had to take turns in line, but the wait wasn’t long.
Anna didn’t believe that Alan Wilson was capable of understanding everyone and everything more deeply, a doubt that had been building in her mind for a long time, and that was just enough to stop her from developing her feelings of longing to know him towards the serious side. On that night, however, there was a hint of tension in his voice that she had never heard before.
She could say that she had become slightly more aware of the changes in his moods, and for once, she sensed that he was getting really burnt out about not being able to find his target. The anger in his voice touched a deep heartstring in her soul, and the resonance he caused in her mind she couldn’t ignore. When he pleaded with her, she felt herself moving closer to him against all odds. She loved the idea that he needed her.
In fact, for Anna now, as the second lady of the Heilmann family, she was perfectly capable of calling the shots in Bonn and leveling the playing field with any of the older aristocrats of the Federal Republic of Germany.
But in front of this man, she still preferred to be a woman who wanted nothing, only God knows what the Ministry of the Interior was looking at her for, thinking that she will be a field of intelligence that can be made to deepen their education.
Today, Anna had given back almost all of what she had learned, and the only thing she had done better than before was to bring up her children, both Hans and Koch, with her own hands. Both children are obviously very close to her, rather than the strong woman who often show her face.
Anna then accompanied Alan Wilson to relax at the Heilmann estate, like a sheltered couple looking after their children. The Berlin Crisis was already a distant topic for the two.
Even Anna was more concerned about the Asian colonies under the man’s administration, asking if there was anything she might be able to do to help if they stumbled into a difficult situation.
“Help, in fact the biggest help for the backward areas is money, whether it’s marks, pounds or francs or whatever.” Alan Wilson said with his hands in his pockets, “The problems of slightly larger places are each complicated in their own way. For Malaya, the tightrope that is the colonial government must be handled with care, and the advantage is that with my knowledge of the Chinese, given the right amount of personal space, the Chinese don’t look for trouble.”
“It seems that if you are tolerant you won’t have any problems!” Anna pulled Alan Wilson’s hand and sat directly on the swing, her head leaned directly on Alan Wilson’s shoulder and said, “If there is a need, my sister and I will discuss it, maybe we will help you solve some financial difficulties.”
“Stop it, I can still let you sisters suffer?” Alan Wilson felt amused, one hand also wrapped around Anna’s thin waist, “It’s still necessary to show an attitude towards the rule of the colony, a single indulgence won’t work. When it’s time to directly manage, you have to directly manage, once you give in there will be no end to it.”
“Knowing that you are capable, how would you solve this Berlin crisis if you were to be in the Soviet Union’s perspective?” Anna grinned and mesmerized Alan Wilson, “There’s no way, is there?”
“I’ll build a wall!” Alan Wilson looked straight into Anna’s eyes with a serious color, “At the same time I would cut off the power supply to West Berlin, once the power can’t be maintained in a modern society it would be devastating to the sense of well-being. No amount of money can make up for the lack of electricity that would set us back to the pre-electrification era. A water source is a no-brainer, and can easily be utilized by enemies for attacks. Physical isolation and power cuts alone are actually enough.”
“Build a wall?” Anna said with a shocked expression, “Wouldn’t that be too much?”
“Nothing is too much, the West Berlin Free World is not going to give up. This is already the best the Soviet Union can fight for.” Alan Wilson said with an old-fashioned look on his face, “In fact, from the Soviet Union’s point of view, as long as the Soviet Union doesn’t dare to launch a military action. They won’t be able to solve the Berlin problem. Breaking down the morale of the citizens of West Berlin is the first goal, and it’s best to take advantage of this incident to settle things, once this Berlin crisis is over, the Soviet Union will have even less of a chance to settle it later.”
Build a wall and cut off the electricity, Anna took these two things to heart and with her remaining eyes saw the two children and spoke, “How about I’m having one for you, darling?”
